I've been here twice; hands down, one of the best speakeasies I've ever been to in my life. The vibe is very much 1920s prohibition era, with ornate decor and dark, mood lighting. They have couches and lounge chairs to sit in, as well as a traditional bar. The bartenders are pretty much magicians. They have a couple of different variations on an Old Fashioned, and my favorite is the Butter Pecan Old Fashioned; it's smooth and velvety on the tongue, with an incredible flavor. The cocktail prices are slightly pricey BUT the quality makes it worth every cent. Cannot wait to come back!
Expensive drinks. But it's a speakeasy in an MGM property. So you expect to pay $20+ for a drink. This hidden gem is in the shops between Luxor and Mandalay Bay. Closer to Mandalay Bay. You will find a bookshelf with velvet ropes. You are here. So once you enter you are emerged in the 1920's decor with silent movies and videos from the era. They have different events some you have to buy tickets for like their ghost stories events. The night we came they had a DJ. Fun little DJ playing different genres from new kids on the block to La Chona. The bartender said the DJ was last minute due to the normal piano player having an emergency. I was told this place gets packed in waves. The cocktails are tasty. I ordered a watermelon mule and my bf ordered there 1923 old fashioned. Our bill for the drinks before tip was $57.
This location in the Mandalay shops just up the escalator going toward Luxor is so awesome. We popped in without reservations on a Saturday night and were able to take in an awesome burlesque show. The dancer was gorgeous and highly talented. The piano player/singer was quite entertaining. The service was awesome and the atmosphere kicking! Highly recommend for a laid back Vegas experience.
When visiting Las Vegas in the past, I have always had a fascination with hidden speakeasys. I have visited several along the Strip, though my buddy recognized the entrance to this one as another one. We were simply walking from Mandalay Bay to Luxor (or perhaps it was the other way around). We passed a number of restaurants and stores along the way in the Shoppes area. Then, we see a sign for the 1923 Prohibition Bar with two barrels, a curtain, and a shelf with a sign saying "Prohibition has ended. Push to enter." I guess it really wasn't too hidden but most people wouldn't have taken the time to explore the sign like my friend and I did. We pushed and entered. We immediately entered into a rather dark but festive area that felt right out of the 1920s. There were plenty of tables, most already with people occupying them. There was a bar and several servers walking around. We found a space at a table right next to where the entertainment was only minutes away from performing. A server quickly asked us if we wanted anything though being already late in the evening, we were just taking in the experience and weren't ready to order yet. I felt like we were inside the T.A.R.D.I.S. where it was certainly bigger on the inside than on the outside. You can learn more about the 1923 Prohibition Bar at https://www.1923lv.com. It is a whiskey and bourbon bar. In fact they consider themselves to be a "private, hidden bourbon bar located on the Las Vegas strip." You can rent the space for a special event. They also have a location at the Venetian Resort. The Mandalay Bay location is open daily to the public and features live entertainment on the weekend from 9 PM to Midnight each day. They operate on a first come, first serve basis, though they also offer distinctive VIP seating arrangements and experiences. If you're looking for a unique experience while in Las Vegas and enjoy hidden speakeasys, check out the 1923 Prohibition Bar. You'll be impressed!
Such a cool speakeasy hidden behind a bookshelf Specifically known for their bourbon list and specialty cocktails and whiskey tastings we had a great time here We were also surprised we got to see a live burlesque show here which felt very Vegas ! They have some rare pours , unfortunately they had run out of a few items that my hubby wanted to try that day It was definitely one of my fave bars to visit -such a vibe Service was great too
I know craft cocktail bars and this place delivered. We arrived at 1 PM or so for a couple of drinks. After walking in through the entrance, there was a great relaxed vibe that awaited us. We sat the bar and Jose was our bartender. Round 1 was off the menu and were very delicious. Round 2 we had Jose build us a couple of off menu drinks that he hadn't seen before, and he did a great job. I totally wished we could have stayed longer because the staff was so friendly and fun.
Cool and unique interior vibe. Great place to lounge and relax and catch up with friends. They had a great variety of cocktail options and i was very pleased with the service. I liked that we did not have to go far for good drinks.
We absolutely loved Kent Axell's Ghost Stories! We honestly weren't sure what to expect going in, but it was so much fun and incredibly entertaining. Kent was engaging, and the whole experience kept us interested from beginning to end. Definitely something different and worth checking out if you enjoy ghost stories, the paranormal, or just want to experience something fun and unique. We're so glad we went!
We came in just after 10 p.m. on a Friday and were able to sit at a couch for a few minutes before a table opened up. We asked for recommendations, because I thought that the drinks were too sweet last time, and we were glad that we did: - Cucumber Watermelon Mule, which was refreshing and had a tart finish to offset the sweetness - Tajin Temptation, with Mezcal, that was balanced with a pleasant smokiness A big thanks goes to Lenee for those recommendations, as well as for helping us (and many other) get situated. There was live music, but we left just as he started the keyboard. Before that, we enjoyed the 90's R&B, which somehow still fit the vibe.
If you're in Vegas you absolutely MUST stop here. Amazing cool vibe and really sets the tone for a good time in the "prohibition era " Red lighting and dark wood accented by several video screens playing vintage black and white photos and scenes from the time period Since it was Monday music was limited to a cool playlist but I'm told during Friday and Saturday Nights the magic really begins with live jazz and burlesque dancers There is an extensive drink menu and although many are bourbon centered they craft other favorites We had an old fashioned and it was certainly one of the best I've tasted. I personally enjoy drinks featuring various fruit combinations so I also tried the Pineapple Chipotle Mule. It was so good they I am certain it will be one of my go to Highly recommend this place
After lunch at Miznon and a quick boba run at Tra Viet Coffee and Tea in the Canal Shoppes inside the Venetian, we stumbled upon 1923 Prohibition Bar. We had noticed the sign while waiting for our boba drinks, and on a whim took it as a sign to stop by for a daytime cocktail. We didn't make a reservation and were able to seat ourselves at any open table, which I really appreciated. I'm not a fan of long waits or being overly directed to specific seating, so the relaxed, no-hassle approach was a nice touch and set a positive tone right away. The ambiance was one of the highlights. The space is large, glamorous, and dimly lit, perfectly capturing the Prohibition-era speakeasy vibe. It felt upscale yet comfortable, and the décor did a great job transporting you back in time without feeling overdone. The drink menu leaned heavily toward bourbon-based cocktails. I opted for a rum-based drink instead, while my friends tried different options from the menu. Unfortunately, we all had the same takeaway: the drinks were very sweet. The sweetness overpowered the spirits, and in my case, I couldn't really enjoy the flavor of the rum because it was masked by sugar. While the cocktails were well-presented, I would've preferred a better balance that let the alcohol and other flavors shine through. Overall, 1923 Prohibition Bar is worth checking out for its atmosphere and easygoing seating, especially if you're already wandering the Venetian. Just be aware that if you prefer less-sweet, spirit-forward cocktails, the drinks may not fully hit the mark.
Long overdue review. This discreet little bar is located in the canal shops. After hunting down the clues to find the entrances we came up a hidden elevator. The venue was dark but intriguing. Our bar staff were great. He suggested various cocktails. He shared a little bit of history. We shared a couple of bar bites including their famous hanging bacon. It was tasty but pricey. They don't make this unique bacon. They bring it in and then reheat it up when ordered. It was delicious.
Came on a whim on Saturday night around 8:30 and it was busy but we were able to find a spot to hangout for our group of 6. The inside is dark and moody and more intimate vibes. It seemed like a lot of their drinks are Bourbon based but they do have other options. I got a drink with tequila (also had the option of mezcal) and tajin and it was tasty! Service was fast and friendly too.

We stopped by here on Saturday afternoon. There were four of us in our group and we all loved the place. Dim lighting, cool vibe and great cocktails. The service was excellent as well. I had the 1923 Barrel Aged Old Fashioned, my wife had the Sour Patch and our friends had an Expresso Martini and a Blanton's on the rocks. read more

The entrance is very speakeasy, looking like we traveled back in time; it is 'hidden' behind the wood display, just push the bookshelf and enter. Once inside there are bar seats and couches, comfy padded chairs, and low tables lit by candles. We were going to have the Torched Maple Bacon ... sadly it wasn't available that night: since dinner was coming we didn't try any of the other bites on offer. As aperitivo we had Sazeracs all around, perfect drink in the pleasantly moody bar! Our server was lovely, attentive and very friendly. Next time in Vegas at the Mandalay we'll definitely stop by ! One star off for the missed chance to taste the bacon, but was an enjoyable, fun experience read more

1923 Prohibition Bar is a quite literally, a hidden gem. We walked past it a couple of times before realizing the entrance is a facade (nevermind the glaring sign I guess?) Look for the bookshelf centered between the red drapes. ;) Inside, bar staff welcome you into the dimly lit space but the décor fits perfectly to the speakeasy vibe. The beverages are delicious, and the prices reflect their use of top-shelf spirits. Expect to pay a little more here. We had four drinks and our bar tab was just over $100. Definitely sip worthy though as the alcohol here is quality! While we were able to walk in, some evenings are ticketed entry when 1923 is hosting an event. read more

Cool speakeasy bar located in the shops area between Mandalay Bay and The Luxor. We went in on a Monday evening and there was a fair number of people for that day. Interior had a cozy and chill feel. Servers were friendly and nice - checked in regularly on you but never pushy. We had Al Capone's Mule Kick and the Fat Elvis. Both were very good, but the standout was the Fat Elvis. Very unique and distinct flavor. Who would have thought that a peanut butter and banana flavored cocktail would be tasty. Prices aren't listed in their menu, but ours were about $20 each - so be aware. Overall, a nice speakeasy to check out and grab a drink if you're staying at the Luxor or Mandalay Bay. read more

Walking through the bookcase to enter in to this space truly transitions you in to an upscale old timey speakeasy. So many details in the environment you can stay for hours just enjoying the surroundings. We did go for the ghost stories, so we were led out of the main bar on to a back room with even more beautiful decor. Cocktails are available and I would suggest the temptress. The staff are truly kind and keep up the ambiance of the setting. The show itself was very entertaining and I would say this is one worth experiencing at least once. read more

Good spot to chill with speakeasy vibes, good drinks, and live music. This location is easy to find in the Mandalay Bay shops, right next to the minus5 ice bar. I had read online that on Friday and Saturday nights 9:45 pm to 1am, they have live entertainment and a burlesque show, so I made a point to come by then. It was busy but not too crowded Friday night around 10 pm when we arrived. We got seated immediately. As far as the live entertainment goes, there was a guy playing the piano and singing, plus a female singer who went up to sing a couple songs as well. There was also a dancer who danced her way around the whole bar while slowly stripping. I enjoyed the whole vibe and all the music and performances. For drinks, they specialize in bourbon cocktails and old fashioneds, but they have other cocktails and some zero proof drinks as well. My friend got the pineapple chipotle mule ($20) and I had the mocktail Summer On the Wagon ($12). My friend's drink was okay, and I found my drink a little too sweet. I had to wait a bit for the ice to melt to water down the sweetness. read more

Finding a hidden gem always feels like a win, and 1923 definitely delivers on that speakeasy promise. The atmosphere is spot on, and the combination of live music and top-tier entertainment made for a great night out. For anyone trying to track it down, it can be a bit of a mission since it's tucked away. Your best bet is to head toward "Lux Cafe"--you'll find an elevator right behind it that serves as your gateway to the lounge. It is well worth the effort once you're inside. read more

Breaking my 60-day alcohol fast at this place was an experience I won't soon forget. The moment I stepped inside, I was transported back to the 1920s, with impressive decorations that included intricate Art Deco details, plush velvet seating, and soft, warm lighting that created an inviting atmosphere. They have a variety of strong and flavorful drinks on their menu, but we chose two old-fashioned ones- the Maple Bacon and the Campfire. Both were excellent choices! The staff was so nice and attentive. The 1923 Prohibition Bar is definitely worth checking! read more

Is this place located inside the mandalay bay hotel?
Yes. It's in Mandalay right by the walkway to the Luxor and almost to the W.
Is there dancing?
No, not enough space. Just good times And laughs and one on one time with the people you came with.
For the shows what's the difference between the VIP seating and 2nd row? Is it worth the extra 20 dollars?
No difference to me… he called on guests from all sides of the room. We sat in the back row
Is cigar smoking allowed?
Hi Jeff, smoking is no longer allowed in our establishment. Due to Nevada clean air act we are following suit with our landlord to maintain government compliance.
How do we make front row reservation then please?
Hi Kathy, you make the reservations on our website. We hope to see you soon! https://www.1923lv.com/locations/mandalay-bay/
Do you need a reservation?
No, a reservation is not required. But if you want to guarantee a front-row seat, we do have VIP reservations available.
What is the dress code for the bar?
No real dress code from what I could tell. Some people look like they were dressed up from dinner or a show and some people were super casual.
The website states magic show at 7pm. Is this a free magic show? And are reservation's needed around this time?
It's not free you need tickets and a reservation
Is the magic show in a seperate section of the bar/lounge area since you have to purchase tickets? Also do they serve any non-alcoholic drinks?
The magic show is in a secret room inside the bar. Yes, there are several non-alcoholic selections and mocktails to choose from.
Are you very busy around 5 pm on a Monday? Can I make a reservation if so?
Hi Ben, no reservations are needed! Come on by!
Coming to vegas in a week, do I need reservations and are you open during the week?
We are open daily! No need for a reservation.
What is your live entertainment schedule?
According to their website, 9:00 pm until midnight Fridays & Saturdays.
Is 1923 still a cigar bar?
No unfortunately due to a change in laws and policies in the resort it is not.
Hi Having an anniversary this weekend and wanted to see if professional photographer is okay to take a few shots here to capture our day while we have a drink…
I would just pop by when they're open and ask. I openly took a ton of videos and photos on my personal phone. They were super super nice I am sure they'd help if you called
Will you allow reservation of 35, it's after wedding with our family?
Hi Courtney, depending on the timing we would love to help. Please start here so we have the information we need to be able to answer any questions you may have: https://www.1923lv.com/event-request/
