Returned back to desi bar and grill on a Saturday evening this time for drinks. The entire experience seemed rushed - our server Meet was in a hurry to get us to order our mains and rush us out of the door. I get that it's the busiest day of the week for them, but it felt too rushed. Food was decent as always. Ordered Chinese BHEL and Kingfisher beer that brought back memories of Bombay for me. The mains were average.

You know you are in for good food when you get out of the car and you can smell great cooking. Desi to me is Indian fusion, which is something I have not experienced. I sat at the bar and my taste journey began. I started with the Tandoori Momos which were out of this world. Mohit the bartender made recommendations on each course and did not lead me astray. Next up with Murgh Makhni, with Garlic Nan. If my stomach did not fill up I would still be eating. The reason for 4 out of 5 stars is Desi will not appeal to everyone. The music is loud but fits the atmosphere and enjoyed it. Food is great and will be back

Decided to try this place for dinner, arrived late on a Friday night and it was packed! The ambiance of this place fits the name. The dark mood lighting, loud music, the bar is lit up in different colours. I think I even saw a Dj stand in the back. There are booths and table/chair, bar seating seating available. Onto the Food, creamy chilli chicken was my favourite.. it was creamy and full of flavour even down to the veggies. The malmali rumali Seekh kabob were tasty. The bread that it came with was delicious. My favourite enter has to be the mirth makhni, this was creamy and a tad bit on the sweeter side. Champaran Murgh was indeed full of flavour and a bit on a spicer side. The Naans came out fresh! The service was great at the beginning but soon after we really had to wave & speak louder to get their attention as the music was loud. Overall, the food was definitely worth trying out

What I liked was the bar vibe, music, and food presentation. I have been to a lot of places serving Indian food but this is the only one so far that I have been to that has a party vibe. There usually is a line and wait time to dine here according to people I know who have been here before. That was also the case the time I was there. The good thing was that we did not have to wait long, and we got the call back within just about 10 minutes or under after we gave our names. What I did not like was the kind of customer service you are greeted with at the start. Like with most other restaurants I expected someone to greet and attend to us after we came in. When we came in the person by the reception was doing busy work. I was patiently standing in line and waiting for the person to finish and look up to ask how many of us are dining. I was aware there is a line and wanted to sign my name as soon as I can. We never got attended to, and a person who came after we did even got ahead of us in the customer order list sequence by going straight to the receptionist and writing down his contact information. I was disappointed that as a customer, we needed to be the one to actively announce our presence and sign our names. I know I was being orderly by queing up and waiting to be served, but there was no right way to do things here. The food and the food presentation was excellent though. I have nothing to complain there on that front. It is only the kind of welcome you receive that I find lacking.

This review is worth 4.5 star ! First, I'd like to say we got lucky with the wait time, since we got a table fairly quickly. Because after 7:30 pm the crowd picked up. We ordered Tandoori chicken, Mix platter, Chicken Biryani, Mix Paratha, Plain Naan, Masala crispy fries, Butter chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala. Everything we ordered was DELICIOUS. I had no complaints regarding the food. My complaint will be for the loud music and crammed space. I felt like people were sitting very close to me lol. Bravo to the server "SHUB", she was soo calm and attentive even with all the customers bugging her. I forgot to mention this place has the best chicken momos. Specially with the HOT sauce they serve it with. WARNING: Sauce is really HOT. I would definitely visit this place again, but during off peak hours.

We were surprised to see so many good reviews, we were tempted to try them out and see for yourselves. This place is really busy, so I recommend you call ahead for reservations. As it was weekend, we had to wait 25 mins, when we were seated, we ordered drinks but that took a good 15/20 mins to reach our table. The place has good music, nice range of food menu as well as cocktail menu, waitress Rashi gave us some good recommendations, our favorite dish overall was the dal tadka. Downside was the chili cheese naan for me, it was on the salty side. Do give everything else a try when your in the area!

$80 CAD for two 4/5 Let me start with the positives because negatives are there but not as significant. This place serves genuinely good North-Indian food. We ordered Dahi Kebab which were out of this world. Mind-blowing texture and tasted heavenly. In main course, we had Dal Makhani and Methi Malai Paneer with breads and onion salad. All of this was great, can't find a single thing wrong which is typically a case with North-Indian chains in Canada. Dal was as what a proper Dhaba would serve back in India, Methi Malai Paneer was such a welcome change than usual Kadhai Paneer or Paneer Butter Masala. Breads and onion salad was reasonably priced too. Everything that I tried was at least must-try. Food was slightly higher priced against other North-Indian chains but I won't complain as taste was also better. Coming to things that made it less than a 5-star experience. The staff seemed less attentive and unorganized. Multiple people taking order/serving same table. We requested to heat Dal which came in after a long time. In the end when we asked for bill, that also arrived after 10 minutes. Receptionist was eating on the counter. Also they were doing Halloween decoration in front of us with staff climbing barefoot on bar while people are having dinner - could be done during close hours.

Honestly a little disappointed in this restaurant. The atmosphere was cool with a bar feel but the music was incredibly loud over the speakers and the service was really slow. The starters we ordered were enjoyable: the fries and the chicken platter but the main courses were not the best. We got multiple dishes for our group including paneer, chicken, and goat and that all tasted like they were make from the same thadka even though they were supposed to be different. The food was very oily as well which made it sit really heavily. Okay overall but would pass if you have other options.

BEWARE- Unprofessional staff, Fraud management and unethical establishment. Be very careful with what you ordering and DO CHECK THE BILL before payment They Not only add gratuity of 18% for 4 or more but they unethically substitute menu items AND ADD PRICY ITEMS without proving you complete information and especially when you are under the influence. Substituting lower level of same brands with most exclusive brands and adding higher pricing on the final bill during a big group gathering is quite common. Using trickery of UNDERAGE female servers and pouncing on individuals under the influence and tricking them to order the most expensive things on the menu as substitution is their key ingredient to success. Beware!!!

Good food but a bit pricey and it takes quite a while to get your food as service is slow but steady. The prices are a bit on the high side.

We arrived around 9:15 PM with our two young children (ages 2 and 6). What nobody informed us was that around 10 PM the restaurant transforms into a nightclub/disco, with music becoming so loud that it was genuinely uncomfortable and potentially harmful for a toddler's ears. Had someone simply mentioned this while seating us, we would have happily chosen another time or another place. That lack of communication alone was extremely disappointing. The décor is beautiful and the restaurant looks stunning. Unfortunately, that's where most of the positives end. Food Review: * Lotus Stem Kebab - Terrible. It was basically a regular kebab with a piece of lotus stem in the middle. Very uninspiring. 1/10 * Cream of Chicken Soup - Excellent. The kids absolutely loved it. 9/10 * Shroom Indulgence - Average. Just seasoned mushroom caps; nothing memorable. 5/10 * Palak Bocconcini - Easily one of the worst dishes I've had. It tasted like canned spinach and lacked freshness, flavour, and texture. 0/10 * Shahi Laal Maas - Served cold. The meat was tough, rubbery, and difficult to eat. It honestly felt like it had been sitting before being served. 1/10 * Missi Roti - Very good. * Green Chilli Laccha Paratha - Very good. * Roomali Roti - Excellent. * The Big Fat L.I.T Indian Wedding - Extremely watered down. I've had many Long Island Iced Teas, and this was among the weakest. 2/10 * The Paan Panther - Again, watered down and disappointing. 2/10 * Celestial Citrus - The best drink we ordered. Really enjoyable. * On the Cloud (Mango Lassi) - Nice presentation, but the lassi itself was slightly sour and below average. * Fresh Berry Tres Leches - Delicious and probably the highlight of the meal. The service was inconsistent. The staff who took our order were warm, polite, and welcoming. However, the staff delivering food were the complete opposite. When we politely asked if the music volume could be reduced because of our children, the response was shocking. One staff member told us, "We're all over Instagram. This is how it is. Didn't you know?" Since we could barely hear anything, we had to ask her to repeat herself multiple times. She then said something along the lines of, "That's the point--we don't want anyone to hear." The dismissive attitude, facial expressions, and arrogance were completely unnecessary and left a very poor impression. A restaurant can have great décor, but hospitality is what brings guests back. My ratings: * Food: 1/10 * Service: 3/10 * Ambience (before the nightclub music): 8/10 * Ambience (after 10 PM): 2/10 * Family-friendliness: 0/10 If you're planning to visit with young children, be aware that after 10 PM the atmosphere changes completely into a high-volume party venue. That may be enjoyable for some guests, but families deserve to be informed beforehand so they can make an informed decision. Unfortunately, what should have been a pleasant family dinner turned into one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences we've had. We won't be returning, and I cannot recommend it based on our experience.

The reason behind the large menu is related to the aim of the restaurant, which is to showcase the various regional cuisines of India. Aside from honouring tradition, they do offer a couple 'new' takes on some items. It really is like nothing else I've had before and unforgettable in both taste and texture. My group also went with a famous lamb dish as well. I don't remember the name offhand, but it is incredibly soft, well seasoned and nicely spiced dish. We also went with orders of naan, veggie dishes and meat skewers. I should mention that almost all of the food we ordered was a little spicier than most upscale Indian places in the GTA. We tried pani puri which came with test tubes of different flavours of waters ranging from spicy, mango and sweet, tandoori paneer which had a nice flavourful marinade and a layer of chutney in the middle, maggi masala momos which were veg momos boiled in the maggi noodle sauce, jalapeño poppers, paneer naanza which was basically a paneer pizza with a white sauce drizzled on top, and the sweet and spicy cauliflower bites. Everyone loved the paneer and momos most. Cauliflower was good but similar to what I've had at a few other places. The jalapeño poppers were good but again fairly typical of what a lot of places serve. For the pizza, most people thought it was just okay. There was a lot of white sauce drizzled on top which drowned out most of the flavour of the other toppings. Some people in our party also ordered tandoori fish and tandoori chicken which they enjoyed. I had one criticism. There was no soap in the main floor washroom for handwashing. Our original server/ owner came out and said "Sorrry it's so so busy but I told you to tell me when you were ready for your mains." It was pretty sleazy because it was obvious he had set this up to be my fault. I told him "You disappeared for an hour how could I ask you?" He continued to apologize and then walk away. I didn't realize this place was in nightclub mode from 6pm. Loud music blaring from televisions which is fine, a million type of lights, a live flute player walking through the restaurant while the background music blared through the tvs. If you get overstimulated easily, this place is a nightmare for that. Some food was good, some wasn't. I don't remember because it was 6 weeks ago. I loved the seating area, we were in a booth. I don't recommend, would never go here ever again. It has so much potential but the poor service, untrained staff and little respect for their customers was the worst restaurant experience I've had in a really long time.
