You know you are in for good food when you get out of the car and you can smell great cooking. Desi to me is Indian fusion, which is something I have not experienced. I sat at the bar and my taste journey began. I started with the Tandoori Momos which were out of this world. Mohit the bartender made recommendations on each course and did not lead me astray. Next up with Murgh Makhni, with Garlic Nan. If my stomach did not fill up I would still be eating. The reason for 4 out of 5 stars is Desi will not appeal to everyone. Decided to try this place for dinner, arrived late on a Friday night and it was packed! The ambiance of this place fits the name. The dark mood lighting, loud music, the bar is lit up in different colours. I think I even saw a Dj stand in the back. There are booths and table/chair, bar seating seating available. Onto the Food, creamy chilli chicken was my favourite.. it was creamy and full of flavour even down to the veggies. The malmali rumali Seekh kabob were tasty. The bread that it came with was delicious. My favourite enter has to be the mirth makhni, this was creamy and a tad bit on the sweeter side. Champaran Murgh was indeed full of flavour and a bit on a spicer side. The Naans came out fresh! What I liked was the bar vibe, music, and food presentation. I have been to a lot of places serving Indian food but this is the only one so far that I have been to that has a party vibe. There usually is a line and wait time to dine here according to people I know who have been here before. That was also the case the time I was there. The good thing was that we did not have to wait long, and we got the call back within just about 10 minutes or under after we gave our names. What I did not like was the kind of customer service you are greeted with at the start. Like with most other restaurants I expected someone to greet and attend to us after we came in. When we came in the person by the reception was doing busy work. I was patiently standing in line and waiting for the person to finish and look up to ask how many of us are dining. I was aware there is a line and wanted to sign my name as soon as I can. We never got attended to, and a person who came after we did even got ahead of us in the customer order list sequence by going straight to the receptionist and writing down his contact information. I was disappointed that as a customer, we needed to be the one to actively announce our presence and sign our names. I know I was being orderly by queing up and waiting to be served, but there was no right way to do things here. The food and the food presentation was excellent though. This review is worth 4.5 star ! First, I'd like to say we got lucky with the wait time, since we got a table fairly quickly. Because after 7:30 pm the crowd picked up. We ordered Tandoori chicken, Mix platter, Chicken Biryani, Mix Paratha, Plain Naan, Masala crispy fries, Butter chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala. Everything we ordered was DELICIOUS. I had no complaints regarding the food. My complaint will be for the loud music and crammed space. I felt like people were sitting very close to me lol. We were surprised to see so many good reviews, we were tempted to try them out and see for yourselves. This place is really busy, so I recommend you call ahead for reservations. As it was weekend, we had to wait 25 mins, when we were seated, we ordered drinks but that took a good 15/20 mins to reach our table. The place has good music, nice range of food menu as well as cocktail menu, waitress Rashi gave us some good recommendations, our favorite dish overall was the dal tadka. This was my first experience with Indian food. We were a party of 5. Our waiter Rohit, was very helpful and made great suggestions for us. We all enjoyed our meals. Food was very flavourful. Just the right amount of spice for me. And temperature too, as I like my food served hot!! We had leftovers, which was good, as I am enjoying mine for lunch as I type this!! We ordered Dahi Kebab which were out of this world. Mind-blowing texture and tasted heavenly. In main course, we had Dal Makhani and Methi Malai Paneer with breads and onion salad. All of this was great, can't find a single thing wrong which is typically a case with North-Indian chains in Canada. Dal was as what a proper Dhaba would serve back in India, Methi Malai Paneer was such a welcome change than usual Kadhai Paneer or Paneer Butter Masala. Breads and onion salad was reasonably priced too. Everything that I tried was at least must-try. Food was slightly higher priced against other North-Indian chains but I won't complain as taste was also better. Coming to things that made it less than a 5-star experience. The staff seemed less attentive and unorganized. Multiple people taking order/serving same table. We requested to heat Dal which came in after a long time. Honestly a little disappointed in this restaurant. The atmosphere was cool with a bar feel but the music was incredibly loud over the speakers and the service was really slow. The starters we ordered were enjoyable: the fries and the chicken platter but the main courses were not the best. We got multiple dishes for our group including paneer, chicken, and goat and that all tasted like they were make from the same thadka even though they were supposed to be different. Which we were then charged for. Only when we asked for water a second time did they bring ice water in a cup. Our first time here. We were a group of 7 for starters we ordered the chicken tikka masaldar and then we ordered the Pomfret fish fry and the chicken momos with a side of chicken wings. The masaldar chicken tikka was great with a spicy bang to it. Really nice flavours for it. Pomfret fish is another hot odbthe night. The marinade was amazing and it came through the whole fish. It was really great and it was one dish we literally fighted over. The chicken momos were not something we would order again as it was very bland unless paired with a sauce and it was not great to order twice. The chicken wings were soaked in vinegar the vinegar flavour was so over powering and all we could taste was vinegar and Sriracha sauce. We also ordered the masala paperdosa, green chilli dosa,naan and the bhuna goat The paperdosa was good enough for not so empty stomach 3 people. Our only complaint was too much masala in the center which made it quite heavy for us to complete the dosa. The green chilli dosa was spicy af. We eat a lot of spice being Indian and this was above our spice level.It was green chilli spread inside dosa. The goat curry and naan was okay. Nothing too special about it. Went for a family dinner totalling over C$550 and I would strongly recommend everyone to CHECK THE BILLING TOTAL, HST, CASH GIVEN as I was charged wrong HST (on top of that the team did not have any clue/idea as on what amount it should be charged, they couldn't manually calculate and come to the same amount as on the bill) and wrote the WRONG AMOUNT OF CASH GIVEN by almost 10%. They wrote the cash received less than what they physically received. Again didn't have any explanation for this as well and were searching amongst themselves for answers. The HST added to the bill was almost 15% extra of the actual/correct amount and I actually had to pay the extra HST as the reasons were unjustified and it was already 1.15am and had to conclude the night for the family and return back home. I very strongly ask everyone to review their bills/invoice, if you have old ones then check them as well. They might give reasons that its auto calculated or software based but its nothing of that sort, things are manual. Please pay with caution. We went here for dinner in a large group, the place is usually crowded so it's a good idea to come in early and stay on till late. we were given a seat and served promptly. Our server was Gagan, who was meticulous and very careful of our table. Being a large group we ordered a lot of food and drinks and we're served by the ever smiling and cooperative servers. The ghosht, galouti kebabs and dahi kebabs are highly recommended. The bhindi and subjz tava are also other amazing mains here. The portion size is enough for two people. Where to start? We went there with a group of friends and there was 5 of us. The 'bar' menu, since it's called 'Bar and Grill' is really mediocre. Even in the very short list of draft beer they had, they were out of many options. No craft beer or any local breweries. On the cocktail side, the drinks were laughable for a place that claims to be a 'bar'. So one our beer glass was broken and they still served the beer in that glass. The cocktails were merely juices with zero oz of alcohol. Very disappointing. When it comes to food, they forgot to punch in all our order and only brought the dosas. The dosas is really big and hangs on both side of the plate. The dosa are basically broken by the time it comes to you and the food is resting on the table directly. Super grossed out! One of our dosa's was completely burnt and the waiter told us that it was just crispy. Food was not very good either. The atmosphere is very cheap. The heat was not even on and we had to ask them several time to put the heat on. Tip: don't go there! read more

Indian sports bar I have never heard of this before?? I felt like I was inside Jack Astros with An Indian twist. This place rocked! Awesome Indian dance music, tv's, comfy booths, amazing service and wicked food! There was a dance floor and projectors and lights in the back of the restaurant which I saw on Yelp the place turns into a club? This place looked like everyone was just having a good time! There's a huge bar people we're relaxin at. The only thing I'd change is that they should let you decide how mild or spicy you want the food to be. We ordered Garlic Nan, Chicken Tika, Veggie Pakora, paneer Tika and whole cooked fish and it was delicious. I loved it and so did my husband. The portions are huge !! I've been to this place a for a few years now. Love the décore and the food is fantastic! My friend and I, ordered take out. If you order take out you get 20% off which is a win! We ordered on a Sunday just after 9:30pm. The hostess told us it was going to take about 15-20 mins but our food didn't arrive until 40-45 mins later. Hence why I docked off 1 star for the long wait. We are visiting from U.S. -- our first day in Toronto and tried this place. Would recommend the owner to keep a stock of Hajmola. The food is excellent, absolutely delicious . The music is great and the our server, Jaspreet was very friendly and helpful. Greeted us with a beautiful smile and accommodated to all our requests with warm hospitality. We ordered Rara Gosht, paneer butter masala, Champaran Murgh Jhol and variety of breads. Moongdal Halwa and Ras Malai are delicious as well. Would definitely come again.
