This is an updated review: My experience with Daniel reflects what many have also experienced when their projects were not completed and/or delivered as promised and retribution was impossible to negotiate. After 8 months and my persistence in pursuing every legal right I have as a consumer Daniel repaid me. My project was not simple but he should have acknowledged this and declined the work instead of making promises he couldn't keep. They were quick to pick up my home furniture in June and we engaged in months of verbal back and foth since then. Some furniture delivered, some not. Daniel goes around collecting jobs he cannot execute nor is he time conscious. Fantastic craftsmanship. I needed a couple couch cushions fixed on a couch that didn't have removable cushions. Not only did they pickup and deliver the couch, they also fixed it so that I could replace the cushions in the future. All that at a price considerably lower than anyone else. Ninos may undercut its competition on price, but it definitely under-delivers on quality and professionalism. I hired them to refinish a TV stand with two sliding doors. They returned it three weeks later with the cabinet and ONLY ONE door refinished. After failing several times to honor their promise to pick up/drop off the doors so they could refinish the other one, I had to commute a total of 2+ hours out of my way to/from their shop to do the drop off/pick up myself. When I picked up the doors, it was immediately clear that they had taken shortcuts, despite having had THREE EXTRA WEEKS to complete the job. Instead of removing the door handles before sanding and lacquering, they painted around them, leaving permanent brushstrokes in the finish. There is also one blemish created by dripping lacquer that was not corrected before drying. And the corner of one of the doors is smashed in! I would never do business with them again and suggest that you take the time to read all of the 1-star reviews before commissioning them for your project. read more

I've now had Daniel reupholster two sofas, two arm chairs, two ottomans and six leather dining chairs. All have turned out beautifully. I provided the fabric for all of them except the dining chairs so I'm mainly commenting on the quality of their workmanship, which is outstanding. In the case of the dining chairs, they matched the leather exactly. Very happy. Prices are very fair as well. I used to have issues with timing of their deliveries. They would say they'd be there at a certain time and then didn't show. But the last two jobs they did perfectly. They were there spot on time so they fixed their timing issues. Totally unreliable. They have mixed reviews so I thought let's give them a try, since I have so many of these projects. I called and he was very quick to schedule a pickup time. He wanted a 50% deposit, which i agreed to. When he was late, I reached out to him and was told he would be two hours late. I reluctantly agree and said I had to leave if he was later then that. Yelp Review - Daniel Hernandez - Furniture Repair "Design It by Ninos" Service Requested Quality Value Attached are BEFORE and AFTER photos of my mid-century Kai Kristensen Model #161 Danish teak armchairs. As a vegetarian, my original chair cushions upcycled the existing seat cushions, recovering them with plant-based faux leather. As you can see from the BEFORE pix, they didn't last, cracking and flaking after 1 year from what I consider to be normal wear. I socialize quite a bit at home and like the easy-clean qualities of leather. So, I decided I was open to using leather to recover the cushions. In addition, the 3" original cushions were uncomfortable (too thin) for today's larger-framed people. Daniel responded right away to my Yelp request and quoted me a fair price that included both new cushions and fabric. Even after comparing with other Yelp vendors who responded, I found the comparison much easier with Daniel. We made an appointment for him to swing by my place, check out the chairs and bring samples. Daniel arrived on time for the appointment and the samples of Italian leather he brought allowed for a great choice among a wide variety of high-quality products. We agreed that the turnaround time for completing the project would be 3-5 business days, in spite of the fact that it was during the busiest season of winter holidays. I checked in with Daniel at 4 days. He promised to deliver the following evening, exactly 5 business days as promised. Unfortunately, that evening Daniel was backlogged on another job, but to his credit, he was completely open and communicated clearly his problem. We agreed the cushions would be delivered the following evening. When his driver arrived with the cushions a little behind schedule due to heavy traffic, he was text-responsive and informed me of the delay. The quality of the leather and workmanship was lovely. The driver set up the cushions and even agreed to dispose/upcycle the old cushions for me. That evening I realized the foam cushions in the seats were too soft for my chairs. I reached out to Daniel and let him know. He agreed to return the following morning with samples of heavier foam. He showed up on time and answered my questions with recommendations about my selection. He took the seat cushions with him to redo. Although we agreed he would return the following day, since we were now past the agreed upon timeline, Daniel ended up swinging by my place that same evening with the new foam installed in the cushions -- A demonstration of his sense of honor to his timelines. This time the cushions were Perfection! At NO additional charge. The point of this review is to remind folks that with something as personal and intimate as furnishings in your home, sometimes accommodation is a necessary consideration and should be added to the list of qualities of professionalism. Especially for us persnickety perfectionists. In the end it didn't matter that it took two tries to get the seat cushions right. Put a request out on Yelp for a seamstress to cover several tufted buttons with thick material I had bought (Boucle). Very good use of proper polyurethane coating for the wooden table.
