I brought two cane cesca style chairs to this place for a repair quote on January 5th. When I arrived, Susan and Fred quoted me approximately $85-90/chair, they also volunteered that they would even polish the legs where the chrome was rusting. The quoted timeline was approx. 2 weeks. Sounds great! Next step they said would be a follow up call in one week with an exact quote once their guy was back in and could look at them. No call. I followed up myself two weeks later, and was told it would be an additional 2 weeks. No quote yet. Ok, no problem, I said. They must be busy. 6 weeks later, still no call. I followed up again on 2/13 and was finally given a quote - $400 - over double the original quoted price. I pointed this out to Susan on the phone and her verbatim response was "I'm sorry numbers are confusing." I swear to god lol. They came down to $300 all-in after seeing I was clearly unhappy with the price gouging, but that is still $100 over their original quote! When I went to pick up the chairs - first, the legs were not polished as Susan and Fred originally promised. Their demeanor, including Everado, was instantly hostile as they snickered at me despite the fact that I was nothing but polite. I wanted to say "What is going on here? How old are you and what makes you think it's ok to treat someone, let alone a customer like this?" I'm the youngest person of the three of them by about 30 years probably and they were acting like poorly behaved children. Maybe they felt they could get away with treating me like this because of my age? A final slap in the face, when I went to pay, I asked if they took credit card, to which they said "yes, but it will charge us a fee." Ok, I said, fine with me. Everado then insisted that I pay via Zelle or cash, despite them admitting to having the capability to take credit card. The message essentially being "yes, we take credit card, but not for you". If there's another place that does this in LA, I'd say go there. The work they do is fine, even good, but save yourself the pain of having to deal with these grown up children.

This piece is a deeply cherished family heirloom that has been passed down through generations, from my great-grandfather, grandmother, and parents. It has collected years of wear and tear, and it recently traveled across the country to my current home, suffering significant damage along the way. Honestly, I was heartbroken and worried it might be beyond repair. Samuel brought this piece back to life in a way that feels like magic. The meticulousness and artistry of his work are truly incredible. The restoration plan was complex, and he executed every point with perfect skill. Here is a list of just some of the intricate work that was completed: - Replaced 5 of the 14 broken, "waved" glass windows with perfectly matching period-accurate glass. - Replaced and consolidated the old, damaged glass sealant. - Reinstalled and consolidated the glass frames and rods on the cabinet front. - Re-glued loose veneer, including the topboard of the cabinet. - Grafted the edges of the drawers, adding wood to repair fresh broken, and missing pieces. - Re-glued a broken drawer and consolidated all drawer bottoms, making adjustments and even adding fabric underneath for a smooth, protective finish. - Re-adjusted all drawers so they slide perfectly. - Expertly filled cracks on the drawer fronts, top right, and right side. - Provided a perfectly fitted key for the bottom drawers. - Consolidated the right door, making the frame steady and secure. - Completed a full refinishing of the drawers, including deep cleaning and fixing the discolored bottom two. - Performed a complete cleaning of the existing varnish. - Finished the piece with a gorgeous, hand-applied waxed varnish. The final result is absolutely breathtaking. The cabinet is functional and sturdy again, but most importantly, Samuel brought it back to beautiful while masterfully preserving its deep, authentic patina. This is a long overdue review for Chimo's! I have two couches that I bought after college second…read morehand. After over 10 years of owning them, the fabric on my sofa bed started to fall apart, because it was never meant to be used as a daily couch, and the other sofa looked worse for wear with bad microfiber fabric and damaged cushions/edging. I reached out to Chimos in Nov '24 and Joselyn came to my home and gave me an estimate based on my choice of fabric and some recommendations to help improve the function of the couch. To my surprise, they were able to pick it up later that same day to get started. It took a little under 4 weeks and I was thrilled with the final result. It's been over a year and it hardly seems like it's been sat on, even though it's my main couch. I was so happy at the quality of the job, that I reached out to Joselyn a month later asking if she could come and give me an estimate for the 2nd sofa. This one was not just a straight reupholster, I asked if they could re-design the sofa itself, by incorporating some padding on the arms, changing the foam to be more comfortable, adding legs, and fixing some of the frame so it could look similar to the first one. Again, they were able to pick it up the same day, and even though there were more changes, it took half as long as the first one, and they delivered it promptly. Their team who picked up and dropped off was also very professional, and they were so kind about having to carry both couches up and down the stairs to my apartment, since my building doesn't have an elevator. Overall, I am so so happy with both couches; they now look like a sibling set. Reupholstering is definitely pricey, and I had to save up for it but I'm thrilled with the quality of the work and now I know these will last years more. I got several quotes from yelp and though Tony wasn't the cheapest he went well above and beyond to deliver what I wanted. The moment I met him I felt pure honesty and sincerity pouring from him which ultimately made me decide on him, despite his workmanship being equally amazing. I am what you call a difficult client, but he would not stop until I was happy. I had a specific leather color that I wanted and for a week he went all around The greater Los Angeles until he could deliver what I wanted. Although I ended up not liking the color of my sofa (not his fault, but mine. I picked the wrong shade), I was so impressed by how lovely he made my sofa that I quickly started to get used to it and "made lemonade." I will definitely be using him again to reupholster my dining room chairs.
