Maple can be tricky, and I was very concerned about getting an even, rich color without blotching, but he clearly knew what he was doing. He took the time to explain the process, tested the stain properly, and finished everything with a very durable satin conversion varnish that looks beautiful and feels right for a commercial space. What stood out most was how balanced the final result is. The wood has warmth and depth, but it still looks refined and clean rather than overly dark or muddy. The finish brought the wainscoting and bar together really nicely and gave the whole café a much more polished, cohesive feel. It looks high end in person. He was also professional, clear in communication, and easy to work with throughout. He refinished my midcentury Lane coffee table, that had watermarks, finish missing and animal claw marks, on my balcony in half a day. He covered the balcony floor with a tarp, and put plastic over my windows to protect against overspray. When he was done, he cleaned the area on the balcony he had worked on, better than when he found it. His prices are fair and he's responsible and easy to work with. I initially reached out to Roman for help with my dining table. After years of the table sittting in front of a west-facing picture window and the extension sitting in a closet, sun damage and warping had taken its toll and the extension no longer fit. Roman was able to sand the pegs and enlarge the holes such that the extension would fit. But, it was evident that there was still quite a difference in wear and warping between the table and the extension so we discussed a follow up service for a full restoration / preservation to reduce the possibility of further damage and to match the color, etc. It looks absolutely beautiful. We had Roman refinish a black coffee table into a white one. We loved the style but they stopped making it in white and we couldn't find any other coffee table like it in the marketplace. So we finally decided to just buy it in black and have it painted white. He sanded it down, painted it the perfect color of white to match the other end tables we have in the room, and applied a layer of protective polyurethane on top. He did a nice job of applying thin professional coats on with a sprayer so you could still clearly see the grain afterwards. It came out exactly the way we wanted it to.
