We chose a boat-grade, leather-like material that really helped cozy up the space while still being practical and durable. I didn't know to ask about this part and it was never discussed. The pillows that went with the furniture were not done properly and had to go back. In terms of having your finished furniture returned, I would give one star. Communication is lousy at best. As other reviewers have commented, oftentimes they were no-shows. AVOID THIS BUSINESS -- I regret not taking the negative reviews more seriously. We hired Manuel to reupholster our well-made sofa (4 pillows, 2 cushions, and a slipcover) using washable fabric. The original covers had long zippers that made removal easy -- a key reason we chose to keep the sofa rather than buy new. We specifically requested the same design. Unfortunately, that didn't happen: * Poor attention to detail: The new covers have extremely short zippers, making it nearly impossible to remove the cushions or pillows for washing -- completely defeating the purpose of the washable fabric. * Unreliable scheduling: He missed appointments without notice and didn't respond when we tried to confirm new dates. The project took a month -- which we would've accepted if the work had been done properly. * Excessive cost: The total cost was nearly the same as purchasing a new sofa. That would have been worth it if the work had been done as promised. * Unprofessional behavior: Multiple calls and texts went unanswered. At one point, Manuel answered the phone and hung up on us. In short, we paid a premium for something that is functionally worse than what we had -- and Manuel refuses to engage or make things right.
