I feel like this salad place is underrated. I've been going for years and the price is just right. The menu can be overwhelming the first time but it's pretty easy once you know what you want and the workers are patient. You can get a salad or sandwich or a combo with both. Is this the best salad I ever had? Maybe! The setup is like Chipotle with bins of fresh ingredients all lined up. They have a dozen or so salads on their menu or you can just freestyle it any way you like. They also have soups which I didn't try. The staff was super nice as well. Inside is a typical fast casual setup. I got the Greek salad with marinated grilled chicken. The thing was MASSIVE. The chicken was delicious on its own. Not dry. The salad was jam packed with all the greek salad ingredients. I couldn't finish it (I wanted a light lunch). And I think it was around $12 with the chicken. Totally worth it. Fun fact this place has been here for 16 years!! I'm obsessed. The food is always fresh and delicious when I order my usual summer salad. Service is fast as well. It is a place that I have enjoyed a few times and does offer a somewhat healthier option than many of the other places in the Waterford Lakes area. As I said, it is in the Waterford Towers shopping mall and the location in the shopping mall is not the best, but once you find it, you will notice it every time you come in this shopping mall. The salads are pretty good and a decent size. You can build it to suit your unique tastes and you will like it. I must say that I do miss the glorious all you can eat Sweet Tomatoes since its closing due to COVID-19, but I guess Designer Greens will be a nice replacement. As a hidden gem, on the less popular side of the Waterford Lakes Towncenter, it is often fairly empty and quick. They have fresh, large salads for a reasonable price. It's assembled quickly in front of you like Subway or Chipotle. I personally like to do the tri combo and get a cup of soup, half salad, and half sandwich for the best bang for your buck. Salad was a nice portion with peanuts carrots wonton strips edamame mandarin oranges and spring mix with a peanut dressing. They ask if the dressing was on the side or mixed in and here or to go. I chose mixed and it was not over dressed. The chicken panini was chopped chicken with peanuts carrots and a peanut sauce. It was grilled but not real warm. I got what I think was a small bone but luckily did not crack my tooth. There are clean tables and keep the mixing bar very clean. It's interesting how my perspective has changed so much when I go out to eat since transitioning to Vegan. I have a new found respect and admiration for this establishment because they were so obliging to my request, and because they were so patient with me when I was trying to find a topping to substitute cheese with, and because I left feeling full, and happily satisfied without spending an arm and a leg. First of all, let me just say...I love dives, in all their glory. That being said, this place was a dive (fine), but it was a filthy dirty one (NOT FINE). I ordered the avocado salad. I ordered it because it started off with the word avocado, so how can you go wrong there? Welllll, you definitely can go wrong. The gal put a tiny amount of avocado in and a huge amount of tangerines. I didn't order a tangerine salad! The lettuce and red onions were gross. They looked like they had been chopped up a couple of weeks ago and left out to rot. Slimy and brown. I would've taken a picture, but I picked most of it out and sent it down the drain. That's where 95% of my salad went...down the drain. The floors were dirty, the counters were over-packed with random items, and the young girl making the salad didn't really have a clue as to how to make it. First and last visit here. Sorry, no pics. The "chicken" does not resemble real chicken and is quite spongy and fatty. It's actually unappealing and has ruined my salad. It's scooped warm and plopped on my to go salad and now the lettuce has wilted. I am always on the look out for great new restaurants that offer quick and healthy meals for someone on the go. Designer Greens happily fits this bill. Designer Greens is the brain child of a local UCF Alum. They specialize in customizable salad and sandwiches. Everything is made fresh to order right in front of you. You watch as the salad prepper adds the toppings as quickly as you call them out. I like to refer to it as an upscale salad bar. There is something so much cleaner and nicer knowing that only a couple of people have had direct access to all the salad toppings as compared to a normal salad bar where you have no idea how many grubby hands have accidentally crazed the top of every tomato, cucumber and crouton. I suggest ordering the full option of salad as opposed to the half. In the end it's a better value that will actually keep you full in the long run. That is unless your anorexic, then by all means please order the half and happily starve yourself. ;) My one gripe is that despite the numerous amounts of toppings they offer, each full salad is limited to only a choice of 5. Only 5? For a vegetable/ topping obsessed person as myself that isn't enough. I prefer my salad with more fun stuff and less lettuce. Oh well. Usually after consuming huge quantities of junk food or realizing that I haven't eaten anything green in a few days - it's time for me to head to Designer Greens and get my salad on! The first thing I like about Designer Greens is the enormous size of their salads. They serve them in these huge metal bowls that you'd usually serve a salad for a whole family in. Good times. They also use excellent and fresh ingredients. Everything is tasty, colorful and fresh. You can tell that it's good quality. There's one main issue that I find a downside to Designer Greens. Namely, the price can be high for your little veggie creation. I usually make my own salad - which starts at $6.99. You get to select your lettuce (romaine or spring mix) and 5 toppings. The toppings don't include any proteins... so if you want chicken, turkey, ham or tuna added it'll be an extra charge (ranging from $1.79-$6.99). Once you add in all those things... your salad could be running you 14 bucks. Eeek. Now if you're cool with just the 5 toppings that are included, they have some good options ranging from artichokes to mandarin oranges. They have a large dressing selection as well, spanning from your typical ranch to a more adventurous honey poppy seed. They have a good selection of sandwiches and soups also if that's what you are in the mood for. Last time I was there, I also noticed potato knishes and baklava in their refrigerated case (YUM!!!). All in all, it's a cute little restaurant and the staff has been pretty friendly every time I've gone in. I'd say check 'em out! read more

What sets this place apart from others is they allow you to create your own salad by telling the person behind the counter exactly what you want including type of lettuce, toppings, and salad dressing. To help you narrow down your options there is also a list of unique salads in the menu. If you're not a salad person, don't worry because there are also panninis, sandwiches, soups and other items to choose from. Plus, aside from your typical soda and juice, Designer Greens also offers a variety of wines to enjoy with your meal. The portions are more than adequate and can often be saved for a second meal or snack if you choose. However, I must throw caution to the wind. As yummy as this place is, there are a few down falls. First, if it gets busy, which it often does for lunch and dinner, it can take a long time to place your order and get your food. Second, it can get rather pricey especially if you opt to have a protein added to your salad and like a lot of toppings. After the first 5 toppings, each additional one is fifty cents and the proteins are priced differently depending on which type you choose. Lastly, seating is limited which could pose a problem if you were planning on dining in. Warnings aside, this place isn't bad and is definitely worth a try if it fancies your taste buds. read more
