I came in for their 4/20 special. Got there around 5:00 p.m. and they had just run out of frisbees when I got served. So if you ever tried to go on the holiday make sure to get there early if you want to get one of them. I ordered the AK-47 and the Apollo 13. The Apollo 13 didn't take a picture of but it was my favorite of the two. I did swap the onion out for cucumber and it was a really nice sandwich. My only complaint was the amount of meat in my sandwich was not impressive. It was crowded the day I was there since they had a deal going on, but I was still able to find a seat. Hands down, one of the best subs I've had in a long time. We first tried Cheba Hut when we lived in Tempe, Arizona, and were always impressed. I went with my friends on a Wednesday evening. We arrived almost at 7 and looked at the menu displayed above. I asked the attendant at the counter for a suggestion and he advised the spicy turkey club. I went with that and choose the 8 inch option (about 11.69 dollars). I also decided to have a large cookie (about 3.69) as a dessert. We were given cups for our drinks (I did water only), and we sat in a high table. A couple minutes later, our subs came open faced. My sub looked nice and had an ample amount of fresh veggies, but the turkey and bacon were pretty small. It was still a delicious sub from the fresh veggies and meats, with the garlic bun soft enough to enjoy. I wished the sauces were spicier as I didn't taste any heat from them, not did I taste the jalapenos that were supposed to be included. The chocolate chip cookie was a nice portion and had large chips. Though while soft in the center, it was a bit crumbly and hard on the edges. It was still a good cookie and I loved the chips inside it. With the 8 inch sub and cookie, I found the meal to be satisfying. The service was at the counter, but friendly, quick, and helpful. We didn't have to wait much for our orders to arrive. I will say that the atmosphere is pretty unique and interesting. There are various paintings and stickers displaying, well, let's just say specific topic/item that may make some people uncomfortable. Ironically, the TV was showing cartoons from the Disney Channel. The music seemed to be rap music and the volume was alright in the dining area, but felt like a nightclub in the bathroom cause it was LOUD! There is a small bar as well that offers beer. I will say if you have an open mind and/or ok with cannabis, then you will be fine here. Else, best to order to go and enjoy your food at your place. I will say for the price paid, it is quite expensive. However, the quality is pretty good (much better than Subway and Quiznos at least), and the staff are great. I received a coupon for a free nug (4-inch) sandwich at a UCF event. I was in the area trying another restaurant so I figured I would stop in. I ordered the Jamaican red/buffalo chicken sandwich. The menu price for this would have been $7, which is insane for a 4-inch small sub. I think I ate it in four bits. The flavor was good but the food is extremely overpriced. They do have happy hour on weeknights 3-6pm, which is neat for a sub shop. Other than some marijuana decals around the store there is nothing toasted about this place. After my initial review of Cheba Hut, the manager Carol reached out to me and offered me four vouchers, each valid for a free 4-inch "nug" sub. I decided to give them a fair shake and try a variety of their menu items, given the opportunity. I want to emphasize that these sandwiches were given to me for free--a 4-inch sub and a drink plus tip will run you about $13. The first sub I tried was their Kali Mist, which was recommended to me by the manager. It's a spicy turkey club with bacon, avocado, jalapeños, chipotle mayo, and pepper jack cheese. I gotta say, I liked this a lot more than the White Widow (chicken, bacon, ranch). It was tangy from the chipotle mayo, as well as their house dressing that I missed in the White Widow (it's supposed to come with the WW too, perhaps they forgot to add it that day?) It's also decently spicy from the mayo, peppers, and cheese, which was a nice addition to the sandwich. Toasted subs are often a rich and indulgent affair, so the acid and heat were welcome against the creamy sauce and avocado. I will say that the sandwich was supposed to come with pickles and it did not, so I think the restaurant may have some issues with getting orders right. The next sub I tried was the AK-47, their French dip. Now, I may be mildly allergic to beef, but that will never stop me from a good French dip. And for the price, this one absolutely delivered. Really, really tasty jus that I could just order on its own. Also, maybe this is just cause i'm a freak, but I LOVE the raw red onion. After that, I tried the 5-0, their Italian sub with bacon and giardiniera. This was quite good--difficult to mess up, but with a slightly unconventional approach that works well. The cheddar worked better than I expected. The last sub I tried was their Jamaican Red, which is their buffalo chicken. I thought it tasted alright, although I was put off by the olives (you can order it without them). After my initial disappointment with the White Widow, it was nice to see Cheba Hut deliver a satisfying chicken sub. So, have I changed my opinion on Cheba Hut from my initial visit? I'd say that after sampling some more of their menu offerings that they definitely make a lot of good food that's worth checking out, but do keep in mind that these meals are rather expensive for just a little bit of food. I don't believe that any of the sandwiches I ate are worth the exorbitant price, especially since they were only four-inch subs. If you find yourself in the mood to splurge, I'd recommend getting an 8-inch AK-47 and going to town. I don't usually go to stoner shops but I heard Cheba makes a damn good sandwich. It's fast casual sandwich shop, similar to JJs/JMs but with a very unique sandwich lineup. We ordered pretzel bites to start plus 2 sandwiches. it was busy but not crazy busy. It took a good 15 minutes for the bites to come out. And then our sandwiches came out 3 minutes later. I have no idea what the hold up was but that is certainly too long for fast casual. The bites were awesome. About 10-12 pieces which was perfect for the price. Great on their own. Served with a thinnish honey mustard which was amazing. Great app for 1-2. For the sandwiches, they are very proud of their bread calling it the best in the biz. JJs also says the same thing. I can tell you that neither are telling the truth. Chiba's bread is perfectly good. Best? Heck no. I mean, Panera (which started as a bread store), which makes horrible sandwiches, obviously has superior bread! A Philly Amoroso is way better. The bread at Stasios and Cavos is better. Cheba, cool your jets! I got the KGB which is roast beef and horseradish with cheese and toppings. This was a really really good sandwich. Everything came together well. Horseradish wasn't overwhelming but added flavor instead of bite. I'd prefer more bite but for the masses this was really good. It was also a good size but not overstuffed. I would get this again for sure. B+ sandwich. My kid got the Panama Red which is a chicken parm. It should have been great. Melty cheese. Good red sauce. The bread holds up well to the sauce. But the chicken breast cut into chunks was dry....meaning it was overcooked or kept at temp forever. No way I could eat one of these. My kid said it was decent but yeah, dry chicken. So I'd say on a Friday at noon, all their chicken sandwiches were probably meh. So with my sample size of 2 sandwiches, I'd say go for the beef, stay away from the chicken. I'm a huge fan of Publix subs as the cold cuts are Boars Head and the bread is always good so I really don't mind always going there when needing a sandwich. This was my first time ordering from Cheba Hut & the sandwiches were awesome. I had delivery so I cannot comment on service or ambiance. This would be a 5 review but for one thing. There is a comment box on each order option. On both sandwiches I ordered I requested the dressing on the side. Now I am a dressing/sauce freak & must have one or the other on everything I eat. However, I request it on the side when having delivery to avoid sogginess. The "Toasted" in the name of the rest should be revered. When the dressing is on the sandwich for 10-15min prior to delivery, the "toasted" is, well, past tense bc now it's just kinda soggy. All that said, both sandwiches had loads of filler & were delicious. I will definitely patronize again. Maybe at the restaurant next time to experience the "toasted" as it is meant to be. So after a long hike in the Florida heat, I was hungry. I had no idea what I wanted to eat, but I knew I didn't want to drive a long way. I pull up my ol' Yelp bookmark list, and I had bookmarked this place after reading their review in the Orlando Weekly. And it was close. So in I went. I took just one picture to give a little taste, but honestly you'll spend your whole time here looking around to try and see everything. Unisex bathrooms, good job. Pop culture artwork on the walls of those bathrooms, also good job. The menu is very catered to a certain demographic. People finding themselves in that demographic will really have a good time here. I also had a good time here, though. One thing I really loved was that they are encouraging community with a slew of trivia and video game nights. They also had a mega event on 4/20, full of prizes. The sheer amount of ham they put on the sandwich could definitely be increase for their price, but the flavor was there. They boast that they have "the best bread in the business." And they might just be right. It was SO soft. And after the toasting, the outside was SO crusty. Based on the staff that was working, I didn't approach anyone as that guy was likely to be the manager on duty. I was there opening day and countless times after and that one interaction ruined Cheba Hut for me. I was a loyal customer since they opened too. One thing I learned from my first review is almost all subs are the same price. So if you get the 5-0 with all kinds of meat it's the same price as a veggie sub or a toasted cheese. The PB&J is the only cheaper option. It's a dumb model and never saw the value of a less "loaded" sub. These are 10.39 for an 8". The 4" is a total waste of money at close to $7. They also have a 12" for almost $14 so it's not cheap to eat here. Looks like Jersey Mike's is about to get more business and it's about $3 a sub cheaper. read more

Cheba Hut "Toasted" Subs has opened a location on the east side of Orlando, specifically on East Colonial Drive next to the Mister Car Wash and across the street from Chili's and Steak & Shake. Cheba Hut "Toasted" Subs themes their locations around a "stoner culture" and ties a lot of their business names around weed. In fact, the three sub sizes they offer is the "nug" (a four inch sub), a "pinner" (an eight inch sub), and a "blunt" (a twelve inch sub). The prices for these subs is a bit more than they should be (at least in my opinion). The prices would make me wonder what they were smoking when they came up with these prices, but one look at this place and it is not too hard for me to guess what they were smoking. A "nug" is $6.09, the "pinner" is $9.29, and the "blunt" is $11.29. You can also make any sub a salad for $10.29. On the menu for soft drink selections, look under "Cottonmouth Cures." In addition to the subs, they have a little bar in the corner with seven stools offering a variety of beer (I guess a further expansion of the cotton mouth cures). They pre-warn you that subs will take awhile to make. Oh, the subs also have names tied somehow to weed. I ordered a 5-0 (smoked ham, Genoa salami, prosciutto, pepperoni, bacon, giardiniera pepper, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, shake and house dressing) and the AK-47 (better known as a French dip). I know these names might not seem so attached to weed, but they also have subs with names like Panama Red, Thai Stick, Acapulco Gold, and more. The subs were somewhat a let down. While they gave a bit more meat than a national chain like Subway, the quality was about on that level. I think the subs at Jersey Mike's and Publix are both far superior. The service was friendly and while I was waiting, I still found it interesting to check out the stickers around the counter and the cool alien paintings on one wall. Ultimately, I am going to have to give this three stars. I used to like going to Quiznos. This place is a bit similar to me. I can say it's great that they have THREE options for Sub sizes so you can get a little 4 inch taste if you are not super hungry or want to get sides with it. The staff was pleasant, patient and helpful which was nice. You order at the front and can pretty much customize your sandwich with anything they have. The back corner has a Tiki bar with a decent selection of beer and seltzer / wine combinations. They have specials too so be sure to ask when you go in. This is, finally, a unique and interesting place to get a sandwich. Definitely not your typical sub place. First, the decor and theme of the restaurant is that of 420-heavy inspired decor and ambiance. That same attitude is also prevalent among the staff. Or so it seems. There is plenty of variety in the menu and all of the sandwiches look mouthwatering. Plus they have a wider variety of toppings. Prices are a bit more than I am used to; however it was worth it. I only wish there was one a little closer. I got an turkey and ham sandwich. Plenty of meat, awesome toppings- not quite dry, but certainly not dripping in oil (like some places). Our first visit to the stoner sub spot and wow was it a cool concept. The art on the walls and the Star Wars mural AMAZING. We decided to both try the white widow and we were so pleased. The sandwich itself was very fresh and everything just paired together so well. I was excited to try bottomless mimosas but it was no longer an option, however they are only $3 each (only OJ). My husband brought be home a veggie sub on opening day and it was definitely good, but not "OMG Good". Well, yesterday was definitely "OMG" worthy. Holy smokes. First, we dined in so I got to actually see the fun themed decor and interact with the staff. The gentleman that took our order was super friendly and helpful with his recommendation and ensuring we got exactly what we wanted. I ordered the White Widow because the chicken bacon ranch was calling to me. The first thing I saw in the menu was a pic of their famous house ranch so I immediately wanted something with ranch. It was SO DANG GOOD!!!! I switched to garlic bread at the last minute which was delicious, but I remember from my first sandwich that the bread was just outstanding. It would have been perfect on whichever one I chose. Everybody shared a bite of their subs and all were delicious. And everybody agreed they liked theirs best which is always a good sign. I was already doing a bad job limiting my meat and dairy lately and this place isn't going to make it any easier with those craveable subs. We ordered online and the food was ready within 19 minutes for pickup, the service was excellent and they handled our food with care and a friendly attitude. The restaurant was very clean and the ambiance was nice. We ordered the "white widow and it was absolutely delicious!! 10/10 recommend, and the kool-aid was made on point as well. Not overly sugary but good enough to be enjoyed already can't wait to be able to eat there again! Blunt sandwich was the size of my forearm it was so awesome.
