We worked with Harlow, who was seriously the best!!! We started by talking through what I had already tried on, what I was looking for, my budget, etc. Harlow then pulled wedding dresses that aligned perfectly with everything I had shared. They were soo helpful, warm, and welcoming, and made us all laugh (which really helps make what can sometimes feel like an overwhelming experience so much more enjoyable). The dresses at The White Gown are also beautiful, and the dressing rooms are lovely and spacious. Additionally, the appointment fee is much lower than at many other stores, which is a huge plus. I had my first dress appointment here, and the experience helped me narrow down my preferences. Echo was great. She was nice, helpful, and picked some nice dresses close to or within my budget. There's a pedestal so you don't have to bring shoes. They have clamps that give a pretty good idea of the dress on you even if it's a much larger size. Our room was well-lit by natural sunlight. I wish they had more petite sizes. It'd also be helpful if their website had more filters and information on the product pages. Booking was easy. I booked a few months ahead. All parties have their own private rooms which are nicely lit. After discussing my wedding details and what I am looking for in a dress, she pulled a handful of dresses and we started the try-on's. There are also shoes to try on for height with the dresses. Grace-Ellis was really mindful of my budget, she reads reactions well, and gave great advice. She knew when I did or didn't like something, so she replaced a few dresses she had a feeling I wouldn't like with other ones, which I thought were great decisions. I really appreciated that she did that. I had a couple other appointments after The White Gown. She followed up with me in case I had any questions, and was so sweet and understanding. Never felt pressured at any time. I ended up saying yes to the dress at another shop, but there was a dress here that I really loved and made it a really difficult decision for me. I purchased my wedding gown from The White Gown on October 6, 2024, and I truly wish I could give this salon zero stars. What should have been one of the most exciting experiences of my life turned into months of frustration, wasted time, and last-minute panic. I attended nine fittings total, commuting 1.5 hours each way from New Jersey for every one except the last two, which were moved to Hackensack. Despite being calm, patient, and flexible, I watched the situation spiral from disorganized to disastrous. At one fitting, no work had been done; the same pins were still in the hem. At another, the bust was several sizes too large, even though my measurements hadn't changed. By mid-September, the owner admitted the alterations were done incorrectly. Then, during my 9/25/25 fitting, she ripped the dress while trying to zip it and admitted it couldn't be fixed. She promised to start over using the floor sample gown from the rack, re-do my customizations, and make it fit before my wedding. Even after taking that sample to another tailor in Hackensack, the "new" gown still wouldn't zip and gaped badly in the bust. The tailor told me I'd have to choose between a dress that was too tight in back or too loose in front...not exactly a dream scenario for a wedding dress. The owner then agreed to let me try on backup dresses. I gave it an honest try, but none looked like what I originally bought, and after reviewing photos, I didn't like any of them. They were all last-minute compromises that didn't reflect what I'd paid for or envisioned. When I finally told her I needed to find another dress because my wedding was three days away, she simply said she "needed time to process." Since that day, she has ignored every effort to reach out and has not issued a refund...despite multiple requests. After months of travel, nine fittings, and constant reassurances, The White Gown left me without a wearable dress days before my wedding. Thankfully, another boutique stepped up, pulled dresses for me on the spot, and rushed flawless alterations within days. The difference in professionalism was night and day. In the end, The White Gown showed no accountability, no urgency, and no respect for their client's time or investment. I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone. Extremely disappointing experience with the White Gown. The manager was shockingly rude and inflexible when I requested to cancel my appointment after finding my wedding dress the day before. I understood there was a $75 late cancellation fee, and I told her I was willing to keep the appointment to avoid the charge. Despite this, she insisted on cancelling it anyway and charging the full fee-- even after I made it clear I didn't want to cancel. When I asked if I could speak with someone else about the situation, she laughed and said she was the manager, and that contacting the owner wouldn't change anything. Her tone was dismissive and unprofessional throughout the conversation. She repeatedly emphasized that they had sent email reminders about the cancellation policy, but no number of reminders could have helped me predict I'd find my dress the day before. There was absolutely no empathy or understanding. She said the salon I found my dress at should pay the late fee. This experience left a terrible impression. I would not recommend this place to any future bride looking for a kind, accommodating, or customer focused experience. read more

The vibes, music, and energy in this store are so positive, welcoming, and feminine. Emily was a heaven-sent--the most diligent, knowledgeable, thoughtful, and genuine salesperson I could have asked for. She seemed to understand my vision better than any other person I had worked with at other stores, but was never pushy or convincing. I purchased my dream dress from an online retailer 5 months ago + sadly they informed me (3 months before my wedding) that they are unable to get the dress I ordered. Carole is amazing and I highly recommend checking out The White Gown. The boutique is so pretty and luckily we came on a nice sunny day so the inside was bright. I spoke with Carole about what I liked and some of the other dresses I've tried on. She brought several choices to try on and two immediately made the top of my list. I made an appointment to stop by the sample sale this weekend. I honestly didn't know if I would find my gown, and was going to cancel the appointment. However, my mom was in town and really wanted to see me try on gowns. I came in thinking I would want one style of gown- honestly thinking I wouldn't ever have that "bridal moment". I almost walked away after trying 4-5 gowns, but Courtney refused to give up on me! After seeing my face looking at another customer who was in a stunning in a gown, Courtney wanted to try a different approach. She went to the back and pulled out two more. I tried these on and I all of a sudden felt like a bride. However these two weren't it either. Courtney went back AGAIN. This time it was magic! I love my gown, and Courtney did not give up until I had my bridal moment! I found my gown! It is gorgeous, and makes me feel beautiful. To top it off my birthday the following day after the appointment, Courtney even sent me an email saying how nice it was to meet me and wished me a happy birthday. I had very high hopes for this place, because I loved a lot of the gowns on their website. I brought a list of several designers that I liked, and arrived early with a friend and a family member to check it out. We were asked to wait by the entrance, where we waited, and waited. We were not given any updates until I asked about 15 minutes into my appointment time. The person in the front did not seem to care, and responded that they were running 10-15 minutes late, as if it was normal. I had booked another appointment immediately after this one, so I was not happy about it. They were not sympathetic at all, and simply shrugged and said nothing when I said I had another appointment in 45 minutes. Not even an apology. We were not even offered a chance to browse through dresses. When our consultant finally arrived, we were already 20 minutes into the appointment. She didn't introduce herself or even apologize, but just lead us to the back. I was already unhappy at the treatment we received for the past 30 minutes while we were waiting, and was not in a great mood. She seemed very indifferent and un-enthusiastic, which made the whole experience worse. I forced myself to stay just because I had already paid for the appointment. She pulled only the dresses that I had on my list, none of which I liked on me. It was a little bit discouraging. I only liked one dress toward the end, that I pointed to on the rack near where we were stationed. I wish the staff was more enthusiastic and empathetic. read more

I was incredibly disappointed with my experience, and it was really hard for me to pull myself out of the funk I was in after I left here. The bridal consultant (I thinkk her name was Alessandra but don't exactly remember) was absolutely the worst one I've ever experienced. There was no enthusiasm from the start. When the appointment kicked off she asked "what are you here for" in a tone that oozed with apathy. I was willing to still give it a go...maybe she was having a bad day? But things went from bad to worse, and when she asked for feedback on what I didn't like about the dresses she pulled, she still continued to pull dresses with exactly what I didn't like. I was considering ending the appointment early because I could just tell it wasn't going well, but I didn't have to worry about that decision as she gave up after 40 minutes when I paid for an hour-long appointment. Unrelated to the consultant, the whole place is a bit dingy - everything from the studio itself to the gowns that are in the store. Overall it seemed like the other party that came in had a good experience - I could hear them laughing and having a good time. But for mine I felt like I was an inconvenience when this is literally the job of the bridal consultant. Would strongly recommend others to avoid this place, and as mentioned it really put a damper on my day. read more

I had such a perfect experience! Great shop! After going to tons of bridal shops over and over, I was almost ready to give up and about to pick a dress that I thought was just Eh ok. I had gone shopping here with a friend for her wedding, and we had a really wonderful experience with Laura, the salon's owner, who found my friend the perfect dress. I knew I wanted to come back when I got engaged myself, and I'm so happy I did. My appointment here was my fourth in two days, so I was feeling a bit frustrated and overwhelmed from all the shopping, but my stylist Vilma was very patient, calm, and professional, and she ultimately helped me find my perfect dress. It wasn't the style I'd initially envisioned for myself, but she knew it would look good on me and I'd feel comfortable in it. Vilma was very lovely to my family and friends there with me, too. I'd recommend going here if you want a really chill boutique shopping experience with a great selection of dresses at various price points, and no intense/pushy sales tactics. My wedding dress experience has been nothing short of terrorizing until I found the White Gown! I have to have shopped at about 18-20 stores of which I have had to pay significant fees just to try on dresses and end up with nothing! Every experience left me stressed, unhappy, and discouraged. Luckily that changed the moment I stepped foot in the White Gown. At the White Gown I was listened to and given support to find the dress I wanted. I was never pressured into buying a dress, upsold, or mislead. Instead I was given space to make a decision I wouldn't regret minutes later! Overall, I would say my experience with The White Gown was poor at best. In terms of the actual store, the customer service was okay. I did end up purchasing my gown from this store as it carried the dress and designer I liked best. The owner was wonderful in terms of e-mail communication, but my main issues were with customer service and the third party alterations/seamstress. It's important to mention that when purchasing your dress at this store, the alterations (a one-time, $795 flat fee no matter how much or little is altered) are due at the time of purchase. Alterations were paid for when I purchased my dress upon the first appointment in the store. Three fittings are included in the alterations. The first fitting is done at The White Gown, and the following two fittings are done off-site at the alterations location. When I came in for my first fitting, both the seamstress and the desk gal were less than attentive with me although I was the only appointment in the store upon arrival. The seamstress spent less than ten minutes (I had asked for a full hem of the dress and lining as well as taking in the bust as I'm small chested and to have a bustle added to the dress). There was minimal attention during the fitting, but I was hopeful all would be okay moving forward. I did ask multiple times if the seamstress was sure she would be able to make the alterations based on the minimal time she spent with me in the first fitting, and she assured me all would be okay. Both the seamstress and the desk gal mentioned at the end of my appointment that I needed to pay for my alterations multiple times. I had already paid for this service when I purchased my dress, and I finally pulled up my e-mail receipt to show them as they should have also seen this in my file with my dress purchase. Prior to my fitting, the seamstress contacted me separately to change my second appointment saying she was no longer available during my appointment. I made another appointment with her directly and went in for my second fitting. My second fitting was okay, although the bust had been taken in too much to the point that it wouldn't fully zip and needed to be let out. I had one fitting left and was set to take my dress home at the end of the third fitting. The bustle had not been done up to this point. I ended up with covid prior to my third and final fitting, and The White Gown worked with me to reschedule a third fitting and take my dress home. The third and final appointment was scheduled via The White Gown, and pick up was set to be about a week before my wedding. The owner caught this via e-mail and worked with me to find an earlier date to pick up my gown, thankfully. During my third fitting, I was rushed during my appointment as the seamstress had contacted me day of telling me she needed to move my appointment. I rushed to the pick up my dress only to find that the bustle had not been done to any capacity, and I had to schedule a fourth appointment for pick up. Things seemed okay for the most part with the fit only to realize that on my actual wedding day, the hem had not been completed and still had safety pins in it from the initial fitting. Other than the chest being taken in, I'm not exactly sure what was done to this dress between fittings as the bustle wasn't done until after the fourth fitting and the hem was never completed. For $795, I'm completely bummed and upset that the time, energy, and money spent for alterations was a subpar job. See picture below for the hem. Overall, the owner of The White Gown was wonderful during the little communication I had with her via e-mail. Unfortunately, the customer service and alterations are a reason I would absolutely advise taking your business elsewhere as it all ended up being much more of a headache and seemingly money lost for a subpar job that was never completed. This was one of the first stores that I visited after I got engaged. I liked the selection, price points, and experience with the salesperson. The store is pretty, clean, and quiet which is so important because other stores in NYC can be so overwhelming. I found a really stunning Pronovias dress, but wasn't sure it was "the one" without doing a bit more shopping. Over the next 6 months, I went to some of the other stores in town (RK Bridal, Kleinfeld, BHLDN, Macy's, Designer Loft, and Pronovias) as well as a few in Las Vegas and Phoenix, but still kept coming back to that dress! It was at RK Bridal as well (for about $200 cheaper which was not really worth to me the stress of going there) and, of course, at Pronovias (for the same price and that's also an insanely busy place), so I came back to the place where I found it first and had a good experience. The dress came on time with no problems and we scheduled 3 alteration appointments starting from a month out. I didn't really price compare for alterations, but I think the seamstress did a great job and is clearly incredibly experienced. I'm pretty small so she had to take the size down quite a bit and make the dress shorter. It came out to just below the alterations cap of $650. I was nervous about a strapless dress, but it was no problem after it was perfectly altered to fit me. read more

As a picky bride on a budget I've gone to loads of salons and boutiques around New York City at all levels and found nothing I liked. The women at the white gown gave me a completely different experience and exactly what I was looking for. If you're looking for a good collection, well made options, reason price and a staff that will give you honest feedback when you ask for it - this is where you got to go. The salon - the first floor of the building smells like Chinese but don't let this throw you off. The salon itself is cute and super clean. Good amount of space in each room to bring your guests. The process - the staff were patient as I tried on pretty much every dress in the store. I came in with a specific idea that I wanted, and tried on dresses with my preferred style - didn't like anything. Then they recommended a different style of dress I was certain I would hate - and I loved it. Fittings - fittings were painless and easy to book. My dress with alterations and everything didn't go over 2500. It was a super unique dress that all my guests raved about this Sunday at my wedding. Highly recommend this salon to anyone! read more

Honestly, I would not recommend this place. During my first visit, I saw a dress that I loved. They quoted me a discounted price that was perfect! I went back to the store a few hours later to make the purchase; however, when I went to pay the price was much more expensive than what they had originally told me :( We eventually agreed on a price, but the whole process just felt icky like a bait and switch scheme. I had a very good experience here trying on wedding gowns! I'm larger than the sample sizes usually offer, so it was great that they had several gowns that I could try on. My consultant listened to me and was helpful in bringing out dresses that I would like. Although I didn't end up buying a dress from them, it was a great experience overall. As a head's up--I went in with a budget of around 1500, and that was really on the low end for them. They told me I'd probably only be able to buy from their samples. So be aware that your budget should really be closer to the 2000 range for this store. read more

I had a wonderful experience finding my wedding dress here. I had gone to a few other popular and larger salons in the NYC/Long Island area and had not found anything. Despite its smaller size The White Gown had the best selection by far. Their hospitality was wonderful and I had a really fun and private experience trying on dresses. I found their inventory to be excellently curated and they have a wide range of really beautiful and unique gowns. Their space is cozy but lovely with beautiful lighting and the staff were warm and welcoming. They quickly zeroed in on a number of dresses that were different than those I had seen again and again at other salons but perfectly fit my specifications. Very disappointed with our experience at The White Gown. My best friend (our soon-to-be Bride) flew in from California for these appointments. She was thrilled at the prospect of finding her perfect gown today. We were immediately met with a very cold greeting from the women at the front desk. Thankfully the girl that helped us, Samantha, was very sweet and bubbly. Had it not been for her this would be a 1star review. Thank you Samantha. You were beautiful inside and out. There was a one blonde woman ( maybe a manager? ) who would come take a look, make a stone-faced comment and rush our bride to try on the next dress. My friend felt the furthest thing from special. The woman was definitely making an effort to be unpleasant. Forgetting her "excuse me's" when pushing past me, not acknowledging us when we said thank you before walking out. Her face looked miserable the entire time we were there. We asked another employee a quick question about the accessories. She avoided eye contact, responded shortly and walked off. It was a really sad appointment ESPECIALLY compared to the incredible experience we had at another boutique. If you must shop here, insist that you get Samantha. The White Gown is a gem in the midst of hundreds of NYC gown shops. I am so happy I found The White Gown on yelp, because from the moment I stepped in the door to the moment I picked up my dress at my final fitting - I had an amazing experience. Unfortunately I don't remember the names of all of the consultants I worked with.. but everyone there is friendly, nice, and honest. When I went in to look for a dress, I was open to trying different styles but knew I only wanted to try on dresses that fit me. I had some prior negative experiences at other bridal shops with trying on dresses way too small, and having to "imagine what they'd look like in my size." I wear a 10-12 normally, which I don't think is an unreasonable dress size to carry at all! Every single dress I tried on at The White Gown I loved!! All of the dresses she showed me were at or under my budget ($2,000), and when I chose the most expensive one, she was even able to lower the price a little bit for me! I had a total of 3 fittings - and every time I went, the seamstress was absolutely amazing. She made me feel comfortable and beautiful and tailored the dress wonderfully. I was nervous because I had decided to change the neckline of the dress to sweetheart, and since I'm only 5'1 the dress had to be shortened dramatically. My dress was covered in hand-appliqued lace with a scalloped bottom, I have no clue how she altered it so seamlessly, but she did! The only negative thing was that my alterations cost over $750... I knew this in advance, but still felt it was a little pricey considering I had no choice but to make the alterations. I would recommend (and already have) The White Gown to brides of all different body types with all different budgets. This review is for one visit this past weekend for wedding dress shopping. Pro's: it's fairly clean, small (so you get immediate attention and it's not overwhelming), and the prices are pretty affordable relative (think low 2k, maybe up to 3k+), the staff doesn't impart their opinion on you. Con's: the staff isn't as helpful as you need them to be-when asking their opinion, they just default to what you want, which is great, unless you're looking for any sort of expertise. They have terrible shoes to try on the dresses (old, stained, or basically the equivalent of a stripper shoe)-bring your own! Lastly, they have a very very VERY limited selection, so make sure they carry the designer (or dress) you're looking for before scheduling an appointment! read more

Great experience shopping here. If you're a bride on a budget, there will be plenty of gowns for you here that still look beautiful and glamorous. They have some gowns on the rack for you to browse but the majority of gowns are in the back which only consultants can access. They will ask you a few questions about your taste and preferences for a dress and bring out a few for you to try. As you try them on and give feedback, the consultant will refine their selection of gowns for you to put on. Fun and very friendly staff. Although I did not get my gown here (was looking for something more grand and regal), I recommend visiting here if you don't know where to start or want a positive dress shopping experience.
