Was really excited to check this place out since it had such good reviews. Made a 10:45am appt two days ago and arrived on time, but I wasn't seen until 11:15. Staff was friendly and pedicure was good, but when I am paying for a babysitter to get a pedicure you cannot make a customer wait a half hour! read more

Beautiful salon; clean, tranquil and smelled so fresh. They have created a peaceful environment with fresh plants, essential oil diffusing at almost every nail station and throughout the space. Two women greeted me immediately upon arrival and were highly accommodating in providing me a drink and explaining the services offered in depth. My technician was spectacular; her attention to detail was beyond what I could have hoped for. Everyone was very kind, hospitable and well-gifted at their trade. High end salon service with very reasonable prices. The staff is very attentive and accommodated all my requests with a smile. I admit I am picky. They also do not over book and rush the services like some salons at this price point do. There is a wide selection of drinks and they brought over pillows and made sure I was comfortable. Once you go shellac, you never go back. I bought a Groupon for a shellac manicure here because I have wanted to try one and the price was right. After I purchased it, I read some reviews and was starting to feel like maybe I had made an error in judgement. I called on Tuesday morning to ask what was a good time and was told to come at noon. When I walked in, I was greeted and told to wait and look at colors. I was struck by how nice the interior was. It is cozy and peaceful. I picked a color and sat down. I only waited a couple of minutes before Henry welcomed me to his station. I hadn't mentioned my Groupon yet (because other reviewers made me nervous) but he was happy for me that I had it. I have to say it was one of the nicest manicures I have ever had. Henry was warm and very friendly. He did an excellent job on my nails. He was very careful and meticulous about getting it just right and kept saying how he loved the color (I chose a charcoal). I felt very comfortable in there and he was happy to accomodate any requests I made (I like my cuticles to be totally clipped and for my nails to all be the same length, I mean who doesn't, but you know what I mean). My nails look awesome; this is as close to a perfect manicure that I have ever come. I will definitely return and once my broken toe heals I will celebrate with a pedicure from there too. Oh, he even gave me a tip regarding lemons. He said to save lemons that you're cooking with until you're finished with everything and then rub the lemon on your fingertips/cuticles before throwing it away. He said it makes them softer and tighter around the nail. I am totally trying this. read more

I love this place! There are 5 nail places within a half mile radius of my house and I continue to make the 20 minute drive to Designer Nails. They take their time with pedicures and do a very thorough job. They do Shellac pedicures too, which most places wouldn't do when Shellac first became popular. Their Shellac manicures always stay flawless for 2-3 weeks. I have had them peel off in 3 days when I have had this service at other establishments. I am new to the Austin area and needed a place to get my hands and feet taken care of. I found Designer Nails Salon that's close to where I live. I went there for the first time in March and I was very satisfied with quality of their work so I decided to go back and I took a family member as well. The youngest lady who works there suggested some add ons to my family member she assured that their treatment and mine would be the same amount in addition to the cost of my manicure. Long story short the bill came to $128.00 and I asked for my ten percent discount they offer on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays as advertised, she then told me I had to go to yelp to redeem the offer by checking in, she then recalculated the amount arriving to the amount of $138 .00 then took the ten percent off, so because I asked for the discount an additional $10.00 was added to minimize the discount. In this day and age to nickel and dime a repeat customer will send them elsewhere for their services, that wasn't cool. Plus the nail polish clean up left a red residue which didn't happen the first time. They suggest all these add-ons, quote one price and then charge another. read more

I got a deluxe manicure and it was wonderful and so relaxing. There was about a 10 or 15 minute wait when I got there, but I didn't think to make an appointment so I didn't mind. I think next time I'll make an appointment and get a pedicure as well. Everyone was very nice, I was greeted, told about the services and offered to upgrade, etc. I noticed that some of the polishes I was interested in were running a bit low, but I guess that happens after a while. I have a suggestion to the owner/manager to maybe dim the lights a tad because the place seemed pretty sterile and bright. It might make for a more relaxing setting, but this won't keep me from going back. read more

I only gave this place 1 star because I actually didn't get the service I went in for. There were 2 people working when I arrived, at approximately 6:15pm. There were 1 woman getting a pedi when I came in, and a 2nd picking out polish. I asked if I could get a pedi and the 1st employee told me it would be about 30-45 minutes. I said I would wait and took a seat. Shortly after, another customer came in. I was sitting for about 10-15 minutes when the first employee asked me to go back to the chair and start soaking my feet. As I did this, she took the woman who came in after me to the other side to work on her nails. I never saw her again. The 2nd employee was finishing a pedi (had just started painting) then started the next one. Forty-five minutes later, she was still working on the 2nd customer. By this time my water was cold, I was tired of the crappy massage chair that barely worked, no one had checked on me, and the customer getting the pedi at that time still didn't even have polish... The technician was just then clipping her nails. So I was looking at an additional 15 minutes from that point. The customer sitting next to me was chilling for a while while her paint dried. At about this time, She got up to leave. She took off the little toe separator things. The nail technician put it back in the drawer to be reused. Needless to say, I left. The technician simply said, "sorry." I am not sorry I left. Reusing ANY equipment that cannot be properly cleaned and sterilized is gross and I'm sure against all safety regulations. *edited by adding the following on 8/9/17--- the owner commented and stated I revitalized this review after 2 years and I received an email from Yelp referencing a review update I made. I have no knowledge of either, and have not been on this review from 2 years ago since that date. Favorite nail shop in Austin. I ended up trying this place because of a groupon and continued going because the service was great. I always went in on a Monday so it was quite and relaxing. The ladies have always been super nice. They provide the friendliest atmosphere that I've experienced in a nail salon. The massage chairs are nice as well. And they've never made my cuticles bleed!! Kim is amazing. For how picky I am, her and Tina put up with me and do a great job making me happy EVERY TIME i leave. Q always does my toes, he's a great guy who makes me laugh every time i go in and they all go out of their way to say hello and ask how they can help. i have missed my appt on saturdays from oversleeping a couple of time and they are always willing to work with me and make me very happy. if you tell them exactly what you want they will make sure they do it. great customer service, very warm and welcoming. sometimes if I'm in a rush i have to tell kim not to worry about making them perfect (i go every 2 weeks so it's ok if they don't look absolutely amazing this time) but she always makes sure they look PERFECT. tina does a great job if you want your whole nail painted, kim specializes in pink and white. i have a hear time chosing what color i want to do and they have patience with me and don't push or decide for me. everything it AWESOME when i go to them and i love them!! read more

I have been to this salon twice and have been extremely pleased with how my nails turn out. If you want absolutely perfect nails, then you need to go here. I have been staring at my shellac all day and can't find an imperfection. They spend a lot of time cleaning up your cuticles and making sure they are perfect--my nails could be photographed for a magazine! They are pretty busy but do a great job of visiting you and making sure you are OK if you are waiting a little bit. Not too talkative, but I actually prefer to relax and just sit while getting my nails done. I will always go back here! read more

I gave the place 2 stars because the shellac manicure I got looked great and lasted well. But,that does not make up for non-existent customer service. On my first visit I had called ahead and was told to come at 3:00 p.m. I arrived at 3:00 and was told to "sit and wait" by Kim, who I assume is the manager or owner. I was finally taken to a table at 3:25. The tech who did my nails was pleasant to me, but made disrespectful and disparaging remarks about other customers who were getting pedicures from another tech. The whole experience made me very uncomfortable. However, my manicure looked and lasted so well that I decided to take a second chance with a different tech. I called mid-afternoon and asked for an after-work appointment. I was told to come at 6:00 p.m. I arrived at 5:55 and was again told by Kim to "sit and wait" as she pointed to the waiting area. By 6:30 several techs had disappeared from the front of the salon, including Kim, and no one had spoken a word to me. I walked out and will not return. read more
