I am very, very upset. I had my lips outlined and Plumped up and they did such a huge. I told them I don't want that duck look and my lips are so swollen. I can't even drink my coffee or barely talk and I lecture I am really unhappy with this Care and I let them know and they weren't very responsive and it was quite a large bill. I have been going to Mel for about 3 years now, through various life stages and changes (having babies, starting news jobs, etc.) and she ALWAYS delivers a fresh and flattering style. I prefer very low maintenance cuts/styles. She listens, inquires, and uses her expertise to create magic. I spend less than two minutes on my hair in the morning, but somehow haven't had a bad hair day since meeting her. Received a horrible hair cut and I'm devastated. I asked for layering and sculpting and left with short block boxed hair. I can't even fix it, it was cut so short. I can't even fathom how a box cut straight lines is even do able with long hair. Not to mention my friend also left mad. I tipped and everything got home and cried. read more

Although my first experience wasn't the best, Katie, the General Manager, went above and beyond to resolve the issue. She listened attentively and made everything right, which I truly appreciated. Dustin corrected my hair color, and he was absolutely wonderful! He's incredibly knowledgeable and took great care of my hair. Stressed bride and poor customer service I got a gel mani and pedi Tuesday night before my Saturday wedding at Milk and Honey South Lamar. My nails looked great and the experience was lovely, but late Friday night my index finger polish started lifting up (which should not happen with gel). Saturday upon opening I called the front desk and explained the situation and that it was my wedding day and asked if they could squeeze me in to fix my manicure. The front desk person claimed they could not fit me in until 1:30 or 5pm which was too late for me seeing as my wedding was that evening. All other locations were either booked or 50+ minutes from me and milk and honey basically told me they couldn't help me. This left me stressed on wedding day and having to go into another salon who quickly sat me down and had my nail done in less than 5 minutes. Now it's been a week since my gel manicure and two more nails are lifting up. For the price and customer service I would not recommend visiting milk and honey for a gel service. read more

I used a new technician this week as my regular nail expert was out of the clinic that day. Min-Min completed a manicure and pedicure and she was fabulous. I've only gotten a mani/pedi from here, but the side room where they do the nails isn't all chemically smelling and everything feels very "above board", so to speak. My nail esthetician was Gabby and she was so sweet. The other estheticians seemed really great too, so I don't think you can wrong when scheduling. I love that they offer Dazzle Dry polish so that you don't have to wait forever to dry but it's more gentle on your nails than gel. read more

It's a narrow location, and the stylists are pretty close together, but regardless, it was still a super nice experience. I'd just chopped off 23 inches of hair to donate, and needed them to fix the hack job I did to myself. The shampooing, the scalp massage, the haircut, all so good. So good that I'm already looking forward to my next cut! A bit expensive, but I've paid similar prices for worse service and a cut I liked less in the end. TLDR: You get what you pay for. Yes milk+honey is pricey, but so are lots of other salons that aren't half as nice, and it's worth EVERY penny. They work some real MAGIC. Nails? Book Denise. Hair? Book Matilda! If you have curly hair Matilda is who you've been waiting for all your life... _ m+h was forever the "trendy" salon in Austin, and that's exactly why I avoided it (I always feel so judged at the "trendy" places). Plus, I'm very low maintenance, so I just thought I didn't need "all that" from my salon. However the S. Lamar location is literally the closest salon to my house, so I finally relented and gave them a try...OMG. Starting at the top. Reception is SO friendly. Warm & smiling, but not in the creepy "they are making you do this" kind of way. Very genuine. Nails: I've been to see Denise twice now, and she does really stellar work. My favorite part is honestly how fast she is, because I've had one other person do my nails as well as Denise at another salon, but they took FOREVER. Denise does perfect, perfect work in a fraction of the time. I get the "healthy gel manicure" and it lasts a solid month. It would honestly last much longer if my nails just didn't grow so fast. I also got the the gel pedicure, and that is lasting well over a month. Also my nails are longer and stronger then I've ever been able to get them before. Hair: MATILDA! MATILDA! MATILDA! You'll see other reviews for her on here, and she deserves a million more. An absolute Goddess! In THIRTY-SEVEN YEARS of who knows how many stylists Matilda FINALLY descended from her throne of hair styling brilliance and got my dry, fluffy, obnoxious curly hair to look EXACTLY how I wanted it to. I was excited before I even got to working with her because Denise was like "You booked Matilda? She's my mentor. I can't wait to see what she does with your hair." Well... I never thought much about getting my hair done. I'm super low maintenance, often in a bun especially with two littles running around. Booked online, which I absolutely love. Was able to complete check in online as well, so day of the appointment I was able to check in and relax while waiting. I was offered some delicious hibiscus tea, which helped fight off the chill from outside. I was greeted warmly, showed some idea pictures to the stylist, she was able to pull everything I wanted off. I've always had a friendly experience with the staff at the front and I very much enjoy the lounge area. The products that my stylist used always leave my hair feeling gorgeous and I there's a great selection of products at the front. If you're looking for "a good deal," this is probably not your place. I have been seeing her for over 4 years and every time I leave her chair I walk out happy, feeling beautiful and with the best hair of my life. She has been with me through many different colors and styles (pink/purple unicorn hair, pink, purple, dark brunette, honey brunette, and all in between) and not once had the health of my hair been compromised. I have been going to Milk&Honey for about a decade now. Mostly spa services. But a few times for hair. Absolutely love them. When my stylist that had been correcting a bad blonde job (from another salon) moved... I was only in need of roots! Finally my blonde process was finished and I was only roots! Yay right?! I called Milk&Honey because they are a trusted entity for me. Asked for the best. Long story longer. They gave me Gage. When I came in I did tell him that I had been through a lengthy correction, but only needed roots. And while he was doing my roots I did go into more detail about how I had originally asked for solid ash blonde. And this is as close as we could get. And that I was very happy with it. To please just do the roots. He put bleach only on my roots. Then ate lunch. Then rinsed and did a toner to help with a few remaining orange strands. I was fine with this. The stylist that moved had always used a purple toner. But she rinsed it all out! He did NOT! I had purple/gray hair! I kept asking about it as he dried my hair. At first he denied that it had purple in it. Then he said it's "just slightly lavender." OGM! Really?! He knew I wasn't going to be able to wash it until after my event! It also had a grey look. I kept nicely asking for some sort of explanation of this crazy color. And he got defensive. Said it would wash out eventually. And even said I "asked for white hair!" I did no such thing. I was there for roots only! His defensiveness made me nervous. I paid and left. I stayed on hold with the main milk and honey number as I sped towards my house. I found a salon in Westlake and ran in crying. They were able to quickly rinse out the purple. And immediately noticed that the roots were twice as light as the rest of my hair. I continued to try calling Milk and Honey. And was always on hold. They put a toner in my hair to repair the uneven appearance of the lighter roots. It wasn't my original color, that I spent months (and thousands) getting to. But it was necessary. Then I left and got back on hold with M&H while I drove home, checked mail, fed animals... all on hold! Eventually someone answered. This was so traumatic! I told my story to the guy and he was sweet. He transferred me to a manager. She was a younger sounding female. She wasn't as nice. She told me she needed to "dissect the situation" first. I said I didn't want to ever give a bad review to Milk&Honey! So I called instead. She was still pretty non-helpful! I finally asked for the obvious minimum... my money back. And she said they prefer to be called to fix it. Really?! I was on hold the entire time that I was dealing with this mess!!!! I'm in shock at this point! I looked like a golden girl (and not in a good way!) I'm done being nice! Here are before and after pictures! If you go in cute.... Don't expect to leave that way! Ok! 100% have to update to my review! Shout out to the manager Gretchen for being so super sweet and understanding after my first visit! I really don't like to complain and never ever leave bad reviews but I was so so unhappy especially for what I spent they first visit. I mean the pix were night and day! I felt so welcomed and comfortable going back in and she was very apologetic and understanding. MATILDA is an absolute magician! I am so so happy with the fix! She took one look at my hair and could see what was done, what was wrong, talked in detail about what I wanted and how she was going to fix it! And boy did she fix it! She SLAYED it! I am so so happy and will be back to see her when I need a touch up for sure! She was so so amazing and friendly and made me feel 100% confident she knew what she was doing to give me what I wanted or at least as close as possible and talked through in detail what she was doing along the way and why. Our experience at this salon was pretty disappointing. My friend and I came here for a mani and pedi a couple of days before we were going to be in a wedding. The women who were doing our nails were nice, but the one doing my friend's nails seemed inexperienced. Our fingernail polish both got bubbly looking and was still soft enough that they smudged in a couple of places the following day! Their color choices are severely lacking. Like I said, we were in a wedding so we didn't want any loud colors and we were so limited on color choices that we ended up using the same two polishes. This salon is waaay too expensive for the quality to be lacking this much. I would not return and I can't say I'd recommend it to anyone, either. read more

I stopped in at milk + honey for a pedicure because I had a little time in between a study break #nursingschoolproblems. I was happy to learn they were open on July 4th and I could easily book online. I arrived a little early and to my luck, I was taken back before my appointment time. My nail tech hardly talked to me at all during the whole service which was honestly fine by me. My toes and feet turned out wonderful. So why did I pick 3 stars? I felt this place didn't offer anything special for the price. I have had a similar experience at other nail salons that were at least $15-20 cheaper. I was also thrown off as the set up in the nail room was not your typical setup. Instead of a luxury massage chair, I had to climb up a few steps and sit on a bench with a few pillows. Also, the massage was meh. I could tell I was her last appointment and wanted to get out of there. Overall, I wouldn't come back here. There are definitely other nail salons that offer the same quality and cheaper. read more

The salon staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. They offer tea or water for you to have during your treatment. I got a deluxe manicure (40 minutes). What was odd was that they didn't soak my hands in water before starting any treatment. The manicurist was pushing back/scraping my dry cuticles and it was painful. Not to mention, she didn't do a good job of trimming them down- probably because it's hard to do so when they're dry. The deluxe manicure comes with a "massage". The person just very lightly rubbed lotion on my forearms. Definitely, not a massage. All in all, wasn't a horrible experience because of the nice staff and the paint job was good. I would not go back, I could get a better manicure and same perks at my regular nail salon. read more

I received a call around 11am this morning to reschedule my 1:30 to 3:30 because my stylist 'didn't make it into work.' I agreed. I received another call at 2:30 pm. When I called back two minutes later they said they didn't know why I was called, that someone must have been calling to reconfirm my appt and I was still a go. I get in my car to head to the appointment- they want you there a solid 15 minutes early. At 2:45 they call me again and tell me the second stylist 'won't be coming in' but they can reschedule me with a third stylist at 3:45. However, they don't have time for a haircut (I was scheduled for a cut and color) so I'll have to schedule yet another appointment on a different day to get that knocked out. I feel like this is a joke? Extremely unprofessional. I don't have time to go in for multiple appointments or deal with 3-4 schedule changes because their staff can't show up to work. I was being flexible as is. I will not be going back or recommending this establishment. read more
