I've been a longtime patron of European Wax Center, like 10+ years overall and at least 5 years at this specific location. The waxing itself is great; I prefer hard wax and appreciate how efficient the appointments are. I've worked with several, more senior specialists over the years, and they've all been great, friendly aestheticians. I've also had great service booking by phone or online. That said, I'm pretty sure I just had my last appointment, and the reasons have nothing to do with the quality of the service (hence why I'm still giving 5 stars). The reasons are more about how the business is run: 1. High Turnover. It's not a good sign that these facilities run through aestheticians. If you find someone you like and trust, it's highly likely that person will leave within about 2 years. Find another person, same thing. Rinse and repeat. 2. Treatment of Women. For this to be a place that primarily serves women, I've continued to hear about European Wax Center's less-than-ideal arrangements for female staff. No maternity leave? No flexible work schedules for new moms? I'll take my business elsewhere for the time being, but I do hope the owners/managers of these locations will take this feedback to heart and make some improvements. read more

Best wax I've had in years. Both Sarahs (yes, two!) were absolute angels. Sarah at the front desk was incredibly sweet. She explained the rewards program, how future bookings work, and even gave me helpful info about how certain products like retinol can affect waxing. Sarah who did my wax was amazing, so gentle, easy to talk to, and made the whole experience super comfortable. She talked me through each step, explained the products she was using, and even recommended a few to try at home. It all felt so genuine, not salesy at all. They even gave me a few samples to take home, which was such a nice touch. 10/10, I'll definitely be back! read more

This place is very unsanitary and smelled bad. I walked In for my appointment, and the my waxer was running late. When the lady checked me and asked for a ID, I told her I did not have one bc I am a minor, (this was not my first wax there) and she lit told me to leave. My mom was there with me. My experience at the European Wax Center was perfect. I saw all the wonderful reviews Tiffany had and I really wanted to book services with her. I'm so glad I did! She was very gentle and it was once of the least painful bikini waxes I've ever had done. She was extremely personable, warm and kind. I was pretty nervous, but I will be booking with Tiffany again! I don't know why I bother showing photos when I get my nails done. A clear design I showed them I wanted was done in bubblegum pink when they did it on my nails. Disgusting. I don't know why when I expressed wanting something low maintenance I got my natural nails put in "dip" or whatever you call the powder. This is not low Mx, it will look like garbage as it grows out. In their defense, all nail salons I've ever gone to say "yes" they can do the picture you show them even tho it's never true. I didn't wait for service, so that's one positive thing. But this is a total waste of money and now I probably have to pay them more and waste more time getting this crap removed. Won't come here again. read more

I've been an EWC customer for a couple of years but transferred to this location around May 2021. The staff is always lovely, everything is clean, and my waxer Madison is amazing. Every session just feels like we're catching up over drinks and she gives great aftercare advice as well. I thought I'd written a review before and guess I didn't. I feel terrible because, oh boy, had a great experience here! So I see Grace. She's amazing. She knows her way around wax and is a true brow artist. I'll give you an example: last time I went to her she did my brows and the very next place I went to, the first person I saw said "your brows look great! Did you get them laminated?" This wasn't someone I know- just a total stranger at the hostess stand. The only recommendation I have is since they have the waiting room "closed due to Covid," it'd be nice if they had a few chairs outside for you to sit in while you wait. read more

But the way you're always greeted and treated unbelievably well I know you'll be back after first visit Bethany explained all by pricing options and I chose a package which reduced the overall price. I'm going in for 5th visit mainly upper body. I did full body at first but legs really aren't growing back. First visit a bit painful but that subside every visit after. Karly is awesome. After feeling like a wooly mammoth for the last 2 months with the closures, I was sooo happy to finally get in. Fully expecting it to be extremely painful after so long, Karly did a great job and it was better than my previous waxer! New safety protocol - have some issues with it. I don't mind having my temp taken but don't ask me to arrive early, make me wait outside in 95+ degree weather for 10 min while you made an appt for someone on the phone, then when you finally let me inside, complain that my temp is up. I've been using EWC in New York and Texas for more than 5 years, and while I've never gotten a bad wax, since I've started since Gabrielle my whole experience has changed. She is so attentive to your needs and pain tolerance the entire time. I'm a runner and have dry skin, and she never over works my skin when getting a Brazilian and always makes sure no hair is where I don't want it to be. She also takes her time and triple checks my eyebrows, trimming them and filling them in so well. Even if I move away from downtown, I won't stop seeing her. Also, parking is free for the EWC and easy to get back on South Lamar after. Truly such a great location! read more

The first couple times I was fine with my eyebrow service, however, the past few times I had a not so great. I keep my eyebrows pretty thick however I ended up spending 20 minutes after my appointments plucking and fixing my own eyebrows. Its just seems the waxers were on a time crunch, and one waxer told me she had another client waiting for her. I don't like giving negative reviews :( but I personally will take my money elsewhere. I think the staff the proper training and the potential to do great work, however, it seems the waxers are preoccupied, rushed, or and some of them just not that into their job. The establishment is very clean, the receptionists are great at scheduling, giving recommendations, and the manager seems professional, well qualified, and is involved in her store and employees. I am just not sure she is aware of the what's going on in the waxing room. read more

Had the worst wax of my life there today. The person didn't leave the room for a second for me to change. Went over every area two or three times and slabbed the wax on like they were trying to varnish a deck. Jesus Christ no one should be that rough with sensitive areas! I noticed a few pieces of wax on there and was about to point it out when she almost screamed "you're done now". Again. Didn't leave the room. Went back to her computer screen and turned her back.... I've been using various waxing services in various cities for about 2 years. Had a service with Gabrielle bright and early on a Saturday morning and honestly it was one of the best experiences I've had in a long time! She was super friendly and made me feel even more at ease; I'm pretty much used to the process but she still made sure to warn me at particular times (if you catch my drift) and helped me through any pain. She was passionate about the service and the products and it made me reconsider my previous thoughts about EWCs (used to be a regular customer in Kansas City but eventually figured salons might be higher quality). Her explanation of the products and the ingredients led to me buying a serum, which I normally never do, but I didn't feel pressured I just genuinely believed her and wanted to try something new out. I am happy that I did because so far it seems to truly work! The front desk ladies were also exceedingly helpful and friendly; they heard I was visiting town and gave me recommendations, etc. I wish I could've take this staff back home with me! I will definitely be looking into EWCs near me in New Orleans, based on this experience. read more

I've been to EWC in the past, but had been quite some time since I had gotten waxed at EWC. This was my first time at the Lamar location and I saw Tori this evening. I got a Brazilian done and holy cow she was amazing. So warm, sweet, friendly. She distracted me by constant conversation and giving me kudos after each strip for surviving the pain If you will. So personable and made me feel comfortable while waxing my area down south! She was so quick and I'm not lying, easily the most pain free wax I'd ever had. Obviously the service is super inconsistent, there seems to be really high turnover as I've been going here for probably 2yrs+ and never had the same girl twice. It's nice they will do last minute appts which is literally the only reason I've still gone. But last time I went was the worst. Worse than just inconsistent. The girls were gossiping about how someone wasn't doing their job and cleaning well enough or refilling cotton swabs, etc. And the girl I had clearly wasn't trained. I've been waxing for 20yrs and never had anyone literally put the wax on and immediately take it off, without waiting for it to cool or pick up hairs. She made a huge mess, stripped layers off my skin, didn't get hardly any hair, and left a huge wax chunk in my nose that I had to dig out myself. read more

In general, I love EWC. I am religious about going every 4 weeks; it's quick/ easy and affordable. I've had mixed experiences with wax specialists but usually find my go-to after a couple visits to a location. I used to go to the Triangle location which is AMAZING and recently switched to this Lamar Union location because I moved and this location is now much more convenient. Unfortunately, the experience is not the same. Specifically, the front desk woman is super rude. I called to change the time of my appointment and was responded to with such attitude and no help. I wish this location was as good as the Triangle so I don't have to drive an extra 20 minutes just to deal with nice/ friendly people. read more
