This studio deserves all the love and more. They truly superseded my life expectations. The care, creativity, and kindness here are unmatched. Herbert has been designing nails for 20 years, and you can tell -- he's a true artist. Every detail is intentional, and the work he creates is beyond beautiful. The whole team is so warm and welcoming, and you can feel how much pride they put into their business. If you're looking for a place that goes above and beyond and actually cares about their clients, this is it. I'm officially obsessed and will be recommending them to everyone!

I came here for the first time from a recommendation from a friend for my wedding nails. Henry gave me the most amazing nails and is a true artist. He reshaped my natural nails and recommended I do sculpted acrylic to give it an elegant and low profile. I showed him a reference pic and he made my nails look even better than the photo. The person who did my pedicure also did a great job manicuring my nail beds.

This is nothing close to what I asked for. I could do my own nails better at home don't know why I paid over $115 for this job tbh.

Super friendly and nice people but for $200 for full set basic French tip mani and pedicure I'm not happy with my manicure at all I asked him to make the nails thin and not thick and this is what I got.

After my nail tech moved I was forced to find a new place and since my company moved I picked this place and OMG I had the best experience at this salon everyone was so very nice the place is SUPER CLEAN !!! THE SERVICE IS SUPERIOR !!! My nails Omg They look amazing best ever I found my new spot and Henry is the best nail artist ever I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS NAIL SALON

Stumbled on this amazing nail salon....and so happy I did. Henry is an artist. He was able to do sculpt powder and make my nails look natural and long, without being thick or tacky. Tried ombré for the first time and he added some pearl chrome! LOVE!! Katie did my gel pedicure and very neat/detail oriented. I called in (instead of walk in) and was seen right away. I was in and out in under an hour!! 10/10 recommend!!! read more

first time getting my nails done in 7-8 years and i couldn't have asked for a better experience. everyone here was incredibly sweet and accommodating. i showed henry my reference photo at the beginning of the appointment and he completely exceeded my expectations. john did my pedicure, as well. they were both so quick and my nails look amazing. 10/10 would recommend read more

This was genuinely one of the worst salon experiences I've ever had. I called at 3:30 pm to ask if I could come in for a pedicure before they closed at 5. They told me to come at 4:30, so I did. When I arrived, the technician who was supposed to do my pedicure was still working on someone else. They had me wait until 5 pm. At 5, she finally brought me to a chair, removed only the topcoat of my existing pedicure, and then walked away. Instead of continuing my service, she called another client over and started a completely new full set on them. The only other technician in the salon was still in the middle of their own service, nowhere near finishing. I waited until 5:35 before I finally asked if it was going to be my turn soon. She told me they were waiting for the other technician to finish--no apology, no explanation. After wasting an hour of my time, I had to leave with my feet in a condition so bad I couldn't even wear open‑toe sandals. They ruined the nice French tip pedicure I had before I arrived. If they couldn't take me, they should have just said so instead of having a new client come in and be treated this way. My boyfriend has been a loyal client for over five years, but after this experience, they've lost both of us. If you're looking for a positive, professional experience, this should be the last place on your list. Attached below is how I left the salon. read more

I called Designer Nail Studio today to book a pedicure appointment through ClassPass. I simply wanted to ask if I could be paired with someone who is detail-oriented and particularly good with pedicures, a very normal question when booking any beauty service. The man who answered the phone-who I believe may have been Henry, the owner-immediately became defensive. He raised his voice at me and told me that if I was going to be "so picky," I should go somewhere else. I was honestly shocked because I hadn't been rude or demanding at all. I was literally just trying to make an appointment and ask a basic question. Before I could even respond, he hung up on me. I've never been treated so poorly by a business. The interaction felt extremely unprofessional and completely unnecessary. I was just trying to book a service, and instead I was yelled at and dismissed. Needless to say, I won't be returning or booking here in the future. Customers deserve respect, especially when they're simply trying to schedule an appointment. read more

I just so happened to stumble upon this place when I was on ClassPass and I'm glad I did. Everyone in the entire shop was so knowledgable and friendly. Randomly wanted to have a mani pedi night with my girl we stumbled across this salon and we were amazed!!!! Bad experience for a first/last time customer. I have acrylic nails, just needed fill and solid gel color. Color wasn't applied evenly and my thumb nail didn't get enough shine seal, looks mat. My nail lady excused herself for 5m but actually left for 10m Nice people and clean salon but never going there again read more

Great customer service clean place but the product they use it's not a good product I did my nails Friday. By Sunday my nails start to peel off I went today they fix it the other nail start to peel out I didn't want to waste my time to drive back to fix it I don't recommend this place for gel manicure and the spray powder they use but if you not going to have any nail polish only cleaning I will recommend it read more

When I called Henry to let him know that I was not happy with my nails, if I could schedule an appointment to get them fix, and he was rude, defensive, and careless. I recently moved to Studio City and I was trying to find a new nail salon close to my house and one that was not as expensive as another salon I had recently visited. It turned out to be a mistake... you clearly get what you pay for. I'd like to start with the only positive - the people that work there were all very nice. But I should've trusted my instincts, because it was very difficult to even secure an appointment over the phone. And I have to say this was the most painful, messiest, and worse gel manicure and pedicure I have ever had. And I have been to many different establishments in Los Angeles and Orange County so that's saying a lot. I'm also someone who rarely writes reviews and almost never speaks up, but I don't want anyone else to have the experience that I had. When the technician was removing my gel from my previous manicure, she was using the electric file which got so hot that I had to tell her multiple times that it was painful and burning my nails. She went so deep that the tops of my nails were worn down, and red. She also cut my skin around my nails several times with the electric file. When she filed my nails they all looked like different shapes, some pointier, some rounder and the "point" was off center on several of them. She told me that I needed to put my nails in the UV light two or three times for each coat of gel. I've never had any other nail salon ask me to put them in so many times to make sure they're dry. Every coat was messier than the next. I finally just gave up on trying to ask her to make adjustments. My pedicure wasn't any better, it was also painful, there was no massage, just callous remover, which I had to ask for... And I could've done a better job painting my toenails myself. It all felt like a waste of time and money. And it wasn't cheap... it was $92 plus tip. Easy to say that it was my first and last time going there. read more

If you feel like paying a lot of money for a bad job then I highly recommend this place! I went in for a fill my first-time after reading good reviews and unfortunately my experience was not good at all. I paid $130 for nails that hurt and a nail that broke a week after. When I went back to get it fixed the guy that did my nails wasn't in so the lady asked if I could come back later. I changed my schedule twice and rescheduled my clients twice in order to come back only to receive a phone call an hour later from the girl to tell me the guy that did my nails won't be in and she'll fix it for me. Why couldn't she do so the first time I was there? When I went back I got yelled at that somehow the bad job was my fault and the nail broke bc I hit something. I hit nothing. The nail broke out of nowhere. Then I got attitude about not calling and just walking in, in addition to being questioned why I didn't call and that 10 days passed so no refund. Mind you they are closed on Tuesday. I was in for a fill on Sunday afternoon. The nail broke on Monday morning. I was working all day, Tuesday they are closed and Wednesday I went in. I send them a message on Friday asking for a partial refund and of course no answer. So if you are looking to spend over $100 on your nails, get yelled at, waste your time going back and forth because of poor communication, this is the place for you! Let me add that when I went back the second time for the girl to fix my nail she started to do a fill. I explained to her that I need a new nail not a fill as it broke and received attitude about that as well. One big headache, painful nails and $130 completely wasted. I have never paid so much for nails only to end up with this. Very disappointing. Save your money and time and stay away from this place. Oh and just to show how unprofessional they are, they posted a photo and reel of my nails on their IG (looks beautiful unfortunately that isn't reality) I commented on it with what I wrote here and guess what? They blocked me. As a business owner myself, I seriously don't know how places like this get away with such service. Absolutely disgusting to fool people with "pretty pictures/reels" and not take accountability for a shitty job. Shame on you for taking so much money, not being honest and not even having the decency to respond. read more

Want a set that lasts? This could be your new home. I have been coming here for awhile now and everyone is always so amazing! They are always super kind and often take me as a walk in. They do everything they can to fit me in or make me feel comfortable and great about myself. They are always gentle with me and don't toss me around like other places. Henry is the go to artist for any designs you may want. Take care of him. He's a special talented angel and we must protect him and everyone in this studio at all costs. SPEND YOUR $$ ELSEWHERE!!! I was so excited to finally find a nail design specialist nearby. I contacted them via Instagram, and booked my appointment for the next week. Henry is the owner and the main nail tech for designs. My first appintment went great. 180$ for that set, which I tipped an additional $45. Great service. Pic below. Second appointment... HORRIBLE horrible EXPERIENCE. I placed a 50$ deposit for a 12:30 appointment. They did not take me until 1:15.. was then unable to do my design. And instead of asking for one that I wanted instead, that he WAS able to do, he gave me a red French tip(part of my initial design)which took 10 minutes. He rushed through because another appointment was waiting. I'm 6 months pregnant, and he knew these were my nails for my maternity shoot. So after waiting 45 minutes for my PRE-BOOKED, DEPOSITED appointment, while being 6 months pregnant, and not giving me the nails I wanted. He charged me 180$!!!!!!! I was livid. Still gave him a 20% tip. And left. I went to Instagram and messaged him how unhappy and disappointed I was with my service, and he blocked me!!! He talks shit about other salons the whole time, and says how great he is. Well.. homeboy couldn't even do my nails the correct way. And then overcharges for nails that I could've gotten for 1/3 of the price, for the same quality! SPEND YOUR $$ ELSEWHERE read more

I absolutely love this place.. There is nowhere else that I can go to get my nails done as well as Henry can do them. Honestly his work is so good if you can't afford the 400 or $500 for a full set of designer nails then don't bother coming. Henry is a full professional there is no one in LA that can do better than he can. If you want good quality come to this place but if you can't afford it don't even show up if you want to see more of what I'm talking about follow HenryOn Instagram @designernailsstudio There you can see all of his latest work. Once again do not come in and be disrespectful and try and talk surprised down when there's nowhere else in LA or really in California anywhere that I can think of that can do it better than Henry can.Thank you. read more

The name Designer Nails Studio is very straight-forward and basic. However that is anything but what the salon is. We are always changing and learning and looking for new ways to improve and be the top. To do that, every single one of the salon's technicians put 200% effort into our services. Each one of the staff have experience in basic services like manicures, pedicures, gel, etc. We also have specialists in custom nail designs and all the latest trends in the nail industry.

Meet the Manager: Henry V.

Hi, and welcome to Designer Nails Studio. Opening a salon has always been a dream of mine since I started working with nails. As a child I loved to draw and paint. Art was my passion. So I brought my talents into nail art. I have worked as a self-employed for so long, moving from salon to salon, and after more than 15 years in the industry I am truly blessed to be able to open my own salon. I am grateful for every single one of my clients who have been supporting me since they first walked in the door. Now I cannot wait to see the future of my business and the new faces that enter my salon. I hope you all can experience this journey with me as this blog is updated often. I guarantee if you visit once, you will never have to look for a nail salon ever again.

Left wet towels on my legs for so long they were freezing. Then with the paraffin hand treatment I literally had to flag her down to take it off me I was waiting so long. Then tells me I owe $220 for everything I wanted to use a credit card then they hella pressured me to use their atm and get cash instead for a lot of reasons. I felt so pushed and frustrated I gave in then couldn't wait to get out. Really disappointed it wasn't a relaxing experience and it's WAY overpriced. Picked two stars because at least my nails look decent. Won't ever return though.

He just said "they're always extra" and when I told him I never had them before he didn't say anything. Had I known I would have just gotten basic nude gel. Last random facts: Vibes are minimal. The manicure set up was not the most comfortable. Bonus points for having a parking lot in Studio City. If you're sensitive to smells do not go around lunch time. I appreciate their affordable $44 gel manicure (now well over $60 including Upcharges and gratuity) but I may pay the additional few dollars to stay at my regular place where I'm treated to water, tea/coffee and warm herbal neck pillows for a similar price. She didn't even offer me a discount that day for my services but I gave them benefit of the doubt because I know how busy and difficult it can be to work with guests. So I left . We discussed that hopefully that the burn mark would be gone by my next appointment . However when I returned the next month it was still there . So I didn't allow anyone to do my feet . Then I went to my previous nail tech to have her take the polish off and clean my toes up because I was a bit iffy on letting oh la la do my feet again . I wanted them polished though at oh la la because they do have a good nail color selection . So I went back to get a manicure because I love the way Tina does my hands . As I was there this time I did make an official complaint about my toe being burned she then offered to comp 90$ against my service for my manicure . However I was refused nail polish on my feet that had no product or nothing on them . Which I can understand because of the incident but I was still willing to try someone differently at oh la la to get it right and I still was willing to spend money with them despite the hiccup . I waited two weeks with no nail polish on my feet because I was told that I would have to get a full service and no nail polish . I called to schedule an appointment . I asked them for a really good pedicure girl . One after I booked my appointment I was texted that I was denied future appointments there at oh la la . I still don't know why . I never yelled at anyone there . And I was really nice about them burning my toe and still wanted to go there . I don't know if this is a racial issue . But if you are a girl of color this isn't the place for you . They are only tending to their own kind in there . And they were very dismissive . I hate the experience ended on a bad note after I was still trying to book an appointment and still support this salon. I even referred a few friends there . I will also be telling them to not support a salon who handles their clients poorly . Apparently my money is not worthy there .

I chose to give this salon a shot after finding out my usual place was booked. I think my photos will speak volumes. A brief description on Henry's up selling tactics may be helpful to the unaware customer: Henry and his staff appear to be extremely sweet however I spent $110 not including tip and I felt robbed. I was use to having a gel manicure and Henry sold me on the organic powder nails by explaining how damaging the gel manicure was over time do to the UV Light. I figured I would try it out, when Henry had finished my nails they lacked shine and luster, I was extremely disappointed. At that point Henry asked me what I didn't like about my nails and I had explained to him I felt my nail should be shiny, these are my natural nails not acrylic. Henry then recommended that I do the gel on top to achieve that look! Almost forgot....my cuticles were not even groomed and when I mentioned that I was told that I should also have a manicure on top of the $60 I was already being charged for my nails. The next morning my fingers were throbbing due to how the product was applied. Henry is not an artist...perhaps a con artist, my nails look awful and now I have to go to my usual salon to have the product removed and my nails redone. Moving on to my $50 half ass deluxe pedi which was suppose to come with a shoulder message however did not....please see photos....enough said. read more

I have been going to Henry for a few months now and all I have gotten are compliments on my nails do to his great work. As a person who has had acrylic nails for 15 years I can say that Henry is the best. Recently my manicurist had left the state and I was left looking for a new person (which is terrifying when u go to the same person for years). I saw the yelp for designer nails and thought I should give this place a try. I called, spoke to Henry, and expressed my concerns because I am so picky about my long nails. He was so kind on the phone and totally understood what I was looking for in a new manicurist. On my first visit, I was able to explain EXACTLY what I wanted and WOW did Henry exceed my expectations. My nails were beautiful. Henry is quite the artist. Perfect length and shape (which isn't easy to do). After that 1st appointment I started to get tons of compliments on my nails. Super flattering! It's been about 3 months now and the quality of service has continued to be amazing and the compliments continue to this day! Thank you Henry and staff! You guys are the best. I have been a client of Henry Vo for over a year and half. I have always been the kind of person who has gotten her nails done for years. I have never stuck with one nail technichian until I met Henry. His work is outstanding! Believe me! I tried many nail technichians in the past. Henry's work lasts up to a month on my nails. Not to mention the time and care he takes to make sure my nails are perfect. He does pink and white unlike anyone I have ever seen before. And he also is the most creative nail artist when it comes to doing fancier designs. One time I was going on a trip to Napa Valley to go wine tasting... Henry drew a wine glass on one nail and grapes on the other! And it was beautiful! Another time I was taking a vacation to Stone Harbor, NJ so I wanted a beach theme for my nails. He was able to get real seashells to coat my nails inside the acrylic. It was gorgeous and I got so many compliments. Aside from all this... I made a last minute appointment today to get my mani/pedi. I called at 2:35 PM. I specifically asked they had time for nail design. they first asked me to come in at 330. Then they said 3pm is better. I got lost and arrived about 10 minutes late. The male manicurist, who was also bragging about his work, told me to look at his instagram to pic a design. I picked one, he said it would be $190. I said ok, but the lady who spoke English and the manicurist were pushing me to find a design, actually yelling at me. I asked for 3 minutes to search and make sure I'm happy with my decision. I decided on something simple, but the manicurist stated he spent have time. Then the woman told me she could get a pedicure. I was life, what's the point if they are refusing manicure? I have NEVER experienced something like this. Hostility, lack of professionalism, no courtesy. I am a NAIL ADDICT! I've been getting my nails done for 10 years but I have never had a regular technician until now. Henry is the best! Trust me, I've been through everyone in the Valley. He's patient, he takes his time with you, he's a great guy, an honest guy and he's so creative! Quality and processes seem uniform across the board, so you can't go wrong. Prices are reasonable. I get a regular pedicure - with time in the massage chair - for $30. A gel manicure is $40. Pay via cash, card, Apple Pay, Venmo or Zelle. If there isn't a wait, you should be in and out in about 30-45 minutes. This is a no-nonsense, no-frills salon, just how I like them. Up-charges are available if you personally prefer a more elaborate and lavish experience. People don't really chat here. There's always good music playing. Again, works for me! During the removal process, the electric drill used to remove the gel felt like it was scraping my actual nail, not just the gel. It was very uncomfortable and painful while it was happening. In addition, the UV curing light was left on each nail for too long, which caused a strong burning sensation. Another tool was used underneath my nails (possibly to clean underneath them), but it involved filing under the nail, which was painful both during the process and afterward. By the end of the appointment, my nails and fingertips were throbbing and stinging, and I was sweating throughout the service from how uncomfortable it was. There also seemed to be a bit of a language barrier or miscommunication when discussing the nail shape. I was initially asked what shape I wanted and we said almond, but it was later switched to oval. I was completely fine with that (it's actually what I wanted), but the change wasn't clearly communicated verbally until I asked again to clarify the shape. The technician herself was very nice and sweet, and I appreciate her kindness during the appointment. However, the level of pain during the process felt torturous, and because of that I would not return for this service again.

This review represents a personal experience that was a wax service with the Salon Owner Lilly…read more I arrived to the salon's opening time and the wax specialist wasn't there. The moment she finally walked in to take me, I entered the treatment room and politely asked for a small mirror from Lilly Since I had never been to her before, I simply wanted to see the process while she shaped my eyebrows. That is a completely reasonable request and i have been to many places and they never had any issue with that Just holding a mirror and checking the job while it done.. Instead of responding professionally, Lilly immediately became rude, cold, and hostile. She refused to treat me as a client and essentially threw me out because I asked Lilly for a mirror. I was left feeling embarrassed and humiliated in front of everyone in the salon over something so simple. Lilly grabbed the mirror from my hand in a aggressive way next to a full salon. Apparently i found this was the Owner Named Lilly. This is not how you treat your customer and i will absolutely make everyone aware of that incident that i never expected from a business owner. If you treat your clients this way i am afraid to think how you treat your employees Lily made me leave in a really bad feeling and heavy thoughts feeling humiliated. If you're considering giving any business to Lily be aware of how she treat her clients .Lilly's attitude was incredibly unwelcoming, unprofessional, and disrespectful. No customer deserves to be treated that way. There are plenty of beauty salons that know how to treat clients with basic kindness and respect. Unfortunately, this is not one of them.
