Wow..... I have visited Vivian before and was really happy with my service. I proceeded to try and book again and was met with a very head scratching experience. I made an appointment which I thought was agreed upon on both sides, when I arrived I saw someone else already in the chair. I was told that I didn't confirm the appointment so it was given to someone else. I was given the option to come back but I declined and left. Vivian called me back later to apologize and offer another appointment the next day to which I agreed to. The next day, two minutes before my appointment was to start, I receive a text stating that she's 30 minutes late. I told her to text me when she's there because I'm close. 45 minutes later I receive a text of, "I'm here....." No apology or explanation. I reply that she's 45 minutes late and that I decline to come and to take care. She responds...."sweet....take care as well". I am really shocked at the whole situation because I have visited her before with no issues. The fact that you can shrug your shoulders and be dismissive of a client lets me know that I'm not a valued customer and my business is not needed or wanted. read more

She did a fantastic job with both kids, but the way my oldest finally relaxed and enjoyed getting her hair done was the best feeling. She was truly proud of her hair style and enjoyed the process. Booked appointment for box braids 3 days in advance-- 1 star. Only $150 for medium sized, bra length braids ?!? -- Another star! Overall exeperience, from the moment I booked the appointment to exiting her salon was 5 stars. Vivian understands the concept of "protective style" whereas other stylist I've gone to have damn near braided my scalp off. She took great care of my hair while she was braiding it like, knowing when to use rubberbands on broken pieces and preserved my edges (Yaas girl, preserve them edges). For someone who is tender headed, she was not heavy handed and the braides arent unbearably tight. I wil most definetly be going back for braids and to try other services. Im a fan. read more

Seriously the best! Every time I come to Seattle, I always have Vivian do my hair! Relaxing atmosphere, super warm personality, and great technical skill. I had to get a color correction because another salon thought I should be a bright blonde...but only certain sections of my hair. So, I had to get it done right, so I had to go my girl Vivian. I never write reviews but felt inclined too after my experience. I had found Designing Diva's Hair Salon on Yelp, and saw that they had a majority of good reviews. I don't trust a lot people with cutting my daughter's hair but felt this would be a place based on what I had read. I called to make an appointment, and Vivian returned my phone call within an hour to set things up, and to explain the process. I had asked her if she had any availability because I was trying to get my daughter in to get a haircut before schools starts. She said I have a opening Monday Sept 2nd at 10:00am. I said GREAT that works for me. Then I specifically asked, oh you are open Monday for the holiday (Labor day)? , she said yes! I confirmed and said I will see you Monday at 10:00am then. Thanks! I arrived at my appointment 10 mins early and see no one is there. So I am patiently waiting in front of her door with my daughter, who is extremely excited about her haircut. I wait until 10:07am and called Vivian. She answers saying she thought my appointment was at 10:30am and said sorry my fault. I am on my way. I continue to wait and now it is 10:30am. I received a text from Vivian saying "ETA 6 mins". I continued to wait some more until 10:45am outside the front of Designing Diva's door. I couldn't wait any longer. My daughter was extremely upset and I texted her saying nevermind. She texted me back saying, "ok I am here..... have a great day". Which I find funny that she was "there" but I saw no signs of anyone parking or walking into the shop on either sides of the building. It's extremely frustrating to have someone's time wasted, and it obviously shows you could care less about new clients or the fact that they are helping support your business. Word of mouth is how small businesses make it, and if you know anything about business you would know 1 extremely bad experience can spread like wild fires. Just a little food for thought. And your response of "have a great day" after you had me and my daughter waiting for almost an hour is not how you show an apology. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. I don't want other's to have to experience this and have their time wasted as well. read more

I love, love, LOVE this woman! Vivian knows what she's doing, from styling my natural hair, to my weaves to protective styles. Even when i don't always know what i want to do, or if i have to many ideas, she always knows what will look best for me. She's my forever stylist. I unfortunately had the worst experience at this place. I've never written a review before but I had to for this lady because I would not want anyone else to have such a bad experience. I went in for a cut and relaxer yesterday and she burnt my scalp so bad that my hair was stuck to it this morning when I woke up. I kept telling her that my skin was irritated but she chose to ignore me and instead talk about how the relaxer was for "sensitive skin". Her prices are also pretty expensive and the worst part was that I contacted her this morning about the burn but never got a call back which is weird because before she answered within the first 2rings. Ladies please save your edges!! If you want a relaxer or great pixie cut, she's not it! Might as well do your own hair!! Very disappointed! I wish I could get my money back read more

I usually never write reviews but this lady Vivian did a horrible job on my hair. She says she's been doing hair and weaves for over 25 years but when she sprayed black goopy die out of a can all over the top of my weave without even asking me if it was ok. I was livid and knew right then she was not legit at all!!! .it was a mess of Black gunk that smeard all over my hands, clothes etc.. it also took her 5 whole hours just to install a partial weave. The atmosphere is very bright and inviting with a touch of hospitality. Most shops now have so much going on it's nice to have a mellow environment. There isn't a bunch of noise so if you like you can catch up on some reading or just relax and enjoy yourself. Vivian has such a diverse background in all types of hair it is refreshing to have someone in my hair that knows about all different types of hair. I have a different texture of hair and it's natural so I don't use chemicals in my hair. Vivian understand my requirements for my hair and she was able to accommodate me. I was looking around for a good hairstylist who would be able to fit me in for a last minute full head sew in weave. Everywhere had either been booked or had horrible reviews. I came across designing divas hair salon read really good reviews thought I'd go ahead and call and see if I could get a last minute walk in appt. Vivian who was already busy with personal issues put that aside and accepted to come down and do my weave last minute. She made the appointment about me and what I wanted she was patient with me took her time to make sure the overall look was what I wanted and happy with I felt welcomed as if I was visiting with one of my family members!!
