It was rainy Saturday afternoon and whole family craved some Indian food…read more We usually never do a buffet style but this time around we gave it a try. The place looked a bit rundown with sitting sections out of place. Buffet options were common staples Butter chicken, veg rice, chicken 65, some vegetarian options. Food was fresh and naan bread was right out of the oven. Service was ok, only one guy in flip flops and sweat pants doing greeting and water pouring. Overall ok experience.

They are so sweet and always nice. And remember us when we come in. Their butter chicken is everything! They have my favorite butter chicken. Their naan is also very good. Chicken Manchurian is also very delicious. Village chicken is so spicy and good too. Samosas are filled perfectly and I like to pair it with the brown sauce. Lollipop chicken is also a good choice. The winner out of all their food is definitely the chai! They have such an amazing chai that I have to order each time. I love being in here, the atmosphere because of the workers are just very welcoming. Your food comes fast and fresh and accurate. I definitely recommend this place. If you have never tried Indian food before, please give it a chance here.

Surprisingly, although we were there on a Friday night, we were the only patrons throughout our meal. According to a member of the staff (possibly the chef?), the establishment had been running as a carry-out-only operation for some time, due to difficulties finding waitstaff. A great pity, as there were a good number of very pleasant seating options, and our server was quite friendly and accommodating. Next, the service: as the only diners in the place, we got full attention. Food came out soon enough. And as for said food: very nice. I ordered the lamb, which came with rice. The co-diner got a red lentil dumpling, in a cashew cream sauce. Both entrees were very well prepared, and (in my case) in a sufficiently large quantity that I took some home. We ordered naan, which was fluffy and very tasty. We were happy to have leftovers to take with us. All in all, we were glad to discover Basil Indian Bistro, and look forward to our next visit.

It's a bit slow. The chili fries are yummy, spicy. The chicken kafta is dry, still very fragrant and flavorful. It's better with the cilantro chutney and the yogurt sauce makes it more palatable as well. The gobi chili is okay, the chili sauce with the fries is what we expected the gobi chili to taste like, it's different here, still not too bad. The rice isn't my favorite, it's small grain, not the basmati rice I was expecting. It seems dry and almost disintegrates upon adding the tadka Dahl to it. The potato and pea masala is really good. A small portion comes with the dosa masala. The tadka Dahl is runny and the lentils are pulverized to bits, it has more of a soup consistency to it. The dosa is very crispy, maybe too crispy for me. The dosa is good with the mango chutney. The Chana masala was ok. Not quite the flavoring I was expecting or hoping for though. The service here is good, just slow to get the food out. The chili fries were the best out of everything we ordered tonight. They could use this seasoning on the gobi and it would make it so much better.

I ordered the thumsup, pickle, and shrimp masala with my sister and two friends. The thumsup and masala were excellent but when I tried a bite of the pickle it was very salty. So salty that it was immediately apparent I was not going to have any more of it. I requested to send that side dish back. The server said they would ask. Then they returned and said they would not take it back. For real. They upset a customer over a $3 side dish that I only took a tiny bite from, and the taste of it was upsetting enough. So their response did cast a pall over the entire dining experience for me. I love the food but the staff exposed their lack of care for the customer experience and that is irksome. I also might add that we handed them our water pitcher earlier in the evening to be refilled but it never came back. I had to ask for more water for the table right after they had refused to take the side dish back.

My favorite appetizers were the onion and spinach pakora. They had very good flavor, weren't very oily and reheated well. The poori came with two pieces and were perfect. The potato that came with them was a hit with the entire table. If you like spicy food, it had perfect amount of spice. For dinner we ordered curry leaf chicken and curry lamb and they were both exceptional. We also ordered the andhra bryiani. That was a hit for our table but I'd of preferred the hyd bryiani. The andhra one had almost a butter chicken type of boneless chicken for its base.
