I've had a very disappointing experience here. I left my glasses in the office during a visit, and when I called shortly after, I was told they were not found and that the office did not have cameras to review. At my next appointment, I saw multiple cameras throughout the building, which was confusing and concerning. My glasses were never returned. I also requested my contact lens prescription several times over the past week so I could order replacement lenses. I provided my email each time, but I didn't receive anything until several days later after multiple follow-up calls. I'm sharing this to describe my experience: the inconsistent communication and lack of responsiveness made this process far more stressful than it needed to be. Based on what I experienced, I would recommend considering other eye care providers if you're looking for reliability and follow-through. read more

Let's work on listening to our patients. My husband pays a decent amount of money per month to get me some pretty awesome vision insurance. I'm allotted 4 boxes of contacts AND glasses every 12 months. I was told by the doctor that I must have "some magical insurance policy" and told by everyone in the office that wasn't possible. I received my contacts and then finally had enough of the back and forth over the glasses that I printed out my insurance packet, and picked out what I wanted and had them run the insurance for them, and would you look at that insurance covered them. I don't appreciate the comments from the doctor or the front office staff, nor the rolling of the eyes when I know what I'm allowed to get through my insurance. read more

Great news! My claim was submitted to my insurance company and Desoto Eye Care received a payment from them. However, I have a question about the balance that I owe. So, I called Desoto Eye Care 10/3/2024 and asked to speak with the manager. I was transferred to a voicemail and left a message. The lady falsely represented that they could not fix our glasses when we came while the warranty was still in affect. Then we found out they actually COULD fix it but the warranty had lapsed yet DeSoto Eye Care refused to take responsibility for THEIR mistake. I've been coming here for a few years now and the staff is very nice and friendly. The only issue I have is the selection of frames that's provided on display. The frames aren't much to choose from and the prices of the frames are not really worth it. The frames should be a little more up to date for the prices they're being labeled. If the frames were worth spending $200+ I would definitely pay. Other than that I like the environment and the staff. I'll be back for my yearly visit and hopefully there will be a better selection of frames to choose from. read more

Horrible experience. I waited for over an hour and a half and still wasn't seen. Front desk staff were not welcoming and inviting.

My husband and I were seen April 2024. It was our first visit at this establishment and last. The doctor was okay but the staff customer service was awful. After the exam, my husband and I sat for almost 15 minutes (we were the only customer in the optical area) and it wasn't until I asked will anyone be assisting us that we got helped. The two women at the front desk were on their phone and the other optical tech was on social media or texting(she wasn't with another customer). The optical tech finally came out to assist us with an attitude and when asking questions, the technician didn't explain the process well and didn't know what insurance (she didn't bother to look in our record) or know the frame selection that was included in our insurance package. She was frustrated and while she worked, everyone else toyed on their phone devices. It was evident, the staffing need a customer service class on serving the general public. This establishment's environment was not welcoming or friendly at all. I would never recommend them to anyone. read more

It is as good as it gets here!!! Loved the front desk, the doctor, the technician and the optician!!! This staff has been replaced within the last 5-6 months. Everyone should try it. If you don't like what they are playing in the lobby, they will change it for you!!! When I asked about discounts,since I do not have vision insurance, the optician asked if I belonged to AARP, was a veteran, etc. and applied the very best discount!!!! read more

Staff is very rude, took 2 hours to be seen from the time I checked in to the time I left. If you want to be treated with respect and seen close to your appt time, go somewhere else like OBriens or Visionworks. They will treat you better than this place. read more

Got my son's glasses in January. He broke them in February. i took them in to get fixed or replaced. Willing to pay again since he broke them. It is April and I do not have the glasses back. I have called multiple times. I have emailed. I keep getting told they are not back and someone will call me. Two months and nothing. I could not have asked for better care! I had cataracts removed from both eyes with one week between each surgery. Dr. Shaeffer and his staff have been outstanding. The office staff has been friendly and most courteous. Everyone there has gone out of their way to answer questions and provide excellent care. The time spent in the waiting room has not been overly long and this is one busy place. My husband has his appointment with them tomorrow and I'm sure he will receive the same excellent level of care that I have had. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! I had burning in my eye for a week or so and made an appointment. Dr. Hooker said use over the counter eye drops, no contacts for a while, and see you in a few weeks. I came back weekly for a month and was told the same thing everytime, but my eye was not getting better. Finally decided to get a second opinion at olive branch eyecare and dr said I had inflammation and scarring that could be permanent! He gave me a steroidal ointment and I can feel a difference. I don't know why dr hooker didn't do that, just shooting me crap while my eyes are getting damaged. If you value your vision, do not go here. The staff is very short and stuck-up as well. I kept going there for so long bc the insurance I used to have wasn't accepted a lot of places. Changed insurances and no have real options! read more

My husband and I started going here about 3 or 4 years ago just before we go married. And every year after we got married has been a pain with their billing. There seems to be different woman working in the office now than there was even last year, however, the pervious ladies constantly screwed up our billing. They would argue and fight with me about changing my husbands insurance on file to our new insurance after we got married even though I told them he wasn't on the other insurance. This last time was it for us. After 16months since our last visits, we get a call from a collection agency saying we own over $200. Sure enough, it's b/c they sent my husband's visit to an insurance he no longer has and it was denied. Instead of calling us to let us know and get it fixed then, we heard nothing. No call, no bill. Nothing. Until 16 month later a call from collections. I asked that they remove the charges since the issue was their fault. The would only do part of it forcing us to pay out of pocket for surfaces that would have been paid in full by our insurance had they submitted it properly like I told them to time and time again. WE WILL NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE AGAIN. read more

Took my 9 year old here 6 months after his initial prescription because he could not see well. The eye dr. we saw was very childish when speaking to my son, and spent as little amount of time as possible with him. He could only read 2 out of the 5 letters on the eye chart after she completed the exam. She said that's "good enough" and he's a child so he can't focus to read the letters. Worst experience I've ever had at an eye dr, and I've been wearing glasses/contacts for 25 years. read more

Staff was friendly! That was a plus. BUT, after one of the test with that bright light, everything had a pink hue. When I brought that up to the doctor's assistant all I got was a little giggle. I had trouble focusing for several days afterwards. I have never had that problem before after a full eye exam. Then I got a pair of glasses and it took over two weeks to get them from Desoto Eye Care. I called 10 days after picking them out, I was told not to call back for a couple of days. After waiting for so long for them I really like the frames but now having difficulty with them. Everything 15 feet away is fuzzy. They are bifocals and I can read with them alright but can't use them to drive. This isn't my first pair of no-line Bifocals but I may have to go back to my old scratched up pair for driving. If I have to get a different set of lenses I will have to pay out of pocket for new lenses by going somewhere else. I am not comfortable going back to Desoto Eye Care. I am having to go somewhere else. Don't trust these new glasses. If you value your eyesight - RUN.......... read more
