I truly have never experienced customer service this poor. If you value communication from a company you are paying hundreds of dollars to this is not the company for you. And by communication I don't mean a speedy response, I mean simply receiving responses at all. The stress & time spent on this company has negatively impacted my wedding experience. In March I signed the contract and booked Destiny & Light for my wedding in Sep. I pre-paid for the trial run and sent an email with a few questions. They answered some but not all q's so I sent another email following up on those q's, requesting an itemized receipt & asking about scheduling the trial run. I live out of state so was hoping to time it with a trip I had planned to the area for my engagement pics. I asked if they could do the morning of my engagement pics, acknowledging it would be early & understanding if I needed to pick a different time. I also called & left voicemails. After a month of no response to those emails/voicemails I sent another email since my engagement pics were a few weeks away and I just needed a direct answer. Still no response so I called and managed to speak to someone who texted me the itemized receipt and said he would check on if they could do the trial run then, advising he would call back and I could also text him if I needed anything. I waited two days & received no call & no response to my text asking for an update, so I emailed them yet again. In that email I politely expressed my frustration and concern with the lack of communication and reliability. I also called and left messages, but still I received no email response or phone call for a month. However I did receive a strange email separate from our email chain asking if my wedding plans had changed as they received another request for the same day & wanted to try to fit it in, which I found extremely unprofessional even if I hadn't had these ongoing issues with them. After receiving that email I sent this email: "Hello, Seeing as it has been almost a month since I sent the above email and have still received no response, I'm taking this as a message you do not care about keeping me as a customer. The neglect & disregard you have shown me is extremely disappointing & I do not feel comfortable moving forward with you. I would like to end our contract & request that you return the $488.25 deposit I paid. Please let me know when I can expect that refund. Thank you." Can you guess what happened next? No response! I sent another email & no response. I called & managed to get the owner on the phone. She was apologetic & non-defensive, which I appreciated. She offered to refund everything or do my HMU for free if I chose to stay but I had already booked another HMU company. I'm so glad I did not take her up on that offer because it's 2 mos later & I still have not received the full refund, reinforcing that I made the right decision in choosing not to use them. After having to follow up twice about the refund (it had been 15 business days since I was supposed to receive it) I did eventually get a refund, but it was not the full amount. I emailed them asking to refund the remainder & no response for two weeks so I called them and spoke to a man who said he would have to check with the owner to make sure they could refund the rest and promised he would call me back the following day. Of course I received no call. I waited another day & sent another email. I STILL have not been refunded the full amount. read more

I went in to see Priscilla for hair and makeup trial run. I told her I wanted a natural look and that I don't wear heavy makeup day to day. I left the studio with Miss Piggy makeup. The foundation used did not match my skin tone, and came off very orange looking. Also, my eyebrows were ridiculously heavy and she used an absurd amount of eyelash glue to the point where I couldn't open my eye properly. I had to use my tweezers to remove the the fake lashes from my real lash and was genuinely concerned that I would rip out my real lashes. Another thing, I got the impression that I was on Priscilla's time. I believe there was an extra 30 minutes of time at my appointment spent waiting on her. This caused me to have to rush home in rush hour traffic to make it to my next appointment in time. Maybe it was just an off day because all the other reviews of her are very favorable. I would not have minded so much, since they are just trial runs, but I scheduled my engagement photoshoot to follow the appointment with Priscilla. So my appointment with her ran late, I had to rush to get ready for photos and now that I have the photos back I'm reminded of how bad that experience was. So a note to other brides, don't schedule those two appointments back-to-back! I thought I was being smart but really I just have 200+ photos reminding me how ridiculous I looked that day. read more

They handled my wedding party and I tell everyone I know about this amazing place. First, the girls are just so awesome. So personable and really make sure you look fabulous for your special day. I looked flawless and so did my wedding party! Second, I was married at the beach during a hurricane. They did not skip a beat and made it there early to make sure they could get to the venue, park, etc. They easily could've backed out and I wouldn't have even been upset because just the day before, the whole place was flooded, but they made it. Lastly, they made the getting ready process so much fun!! I loved that they do airbrush makeup and work with keratin bonded extensions. They both demonstrated the utmost professionalism and created gorgeous hair styles and makeup for myself, the wedding party and my Mother. She handled herself very, very well in a situation that most would find quite frustrating. She was placing Indian jewelry in my hair and had three women telling her when it was centered and not centered on my forehead. Her patience was superb. In addition, they were able to create the most perfect looks for makeup and hair on all different skin and hair types as there were Asian, Indian and white ladies involved in the wedding. I loved Leticia, when she showed up. We booked at a bridal show (a huge income I can only assume) and was blown away by their work and staff. We went to follow up on our free trial run of the engagement shoot and they were over an hour late because they "didn't get the email invite". We called 3-4 times before and got zero to little response. We showed up hopeful. All they did was apologize and say they let go the person we had talked to due to their miscommunication. Literally 1-2 weeks later, they are advertising that same girl on their Instagram they claimed they had "let go" and said they couldn't communicate with her. Now she is all over their Instagram. I have never looked so good in my life and probably won't look that good ever again! I don't wear makeup, ever never ever, and was worried about looking overdone or my makeup feeling heavy on my face but I had no problems whatsoever. I'm actually very surprised at the experience we've had with this company after seeing all these reviews. My fiancé scheduled an appointment for her trial run last Thursday, Nov 8th. When she called them the Tuesday before her appointment, they had no record of her. She got frustrated and hung up. How could a company that deals with something so important as a wedding drop the ball like that. Initially we decided we didn't want to do business with a company that unorganized, but after more thought, we decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and call them back to rebook. The earliest they had now was Nov 15th which was pushing it. We were scared if we didn't like their work, we'd be stuck and not have much time to find someone else. The wedding is Dec 21st. After giving them a second chance, today they called my fiancé and cancelled the appointment with nothing earlier to reschedule for. My fiancé is stressed and we are now scrambling to find another company for makeup and hair. I just don't understand how much of a mess they seem like for a company that deals with peoples weddings. It blows my mind at how little regard they have to our wedding and how close it's getting. Needless to say, I'm hoping we find another company and are able to get a trail run before it gets too close to the wedding. We are coming up in the 30 window soon. read more

She is very sweet and outgoing and seems genuinely excited for your big day. She set up a trial with me and Melody. Melody was awesome and very sweet. I loved my look. The day of the wedding came and Melody and Lucy were there to take care of me, my bridesmaids, MOH, MOB, flower girl and two relatives who would be in photos. They showed up a few minutes early and worked very fast and listened to what we all wanted. We had a few issues with some of the ladies getting makeup done, but Melody and Lucy were patient and just awesome. I picked Destiny & Light because of their combination of great reviews and prices! Tiffany was my stylist, and she was a godsend! I did a trial with her several months before the wedding, which I highly recommend because it gives you time to try out different makeup. At my trial we tried my makeup both with and without black eyeliner, which helped me decide which I liked better (ended up deciding to go with black powder instead of liner because it gave a softer look for my beach wedding). The day of the wedding, my makeup looked phenomenal! Exactly what I wanted! And my husband even said to me, "Tell Tiffany that she did a great job, I love your makeup"! That is a big deal, because he hates makeup, and the thing he was most worried about was that I'd like too done up. She managed to make it beautiful AND natural! She also did a great job with my hair! One of the things that sold me on Tiffany during the trial was how quickly and effortlessly she was able to copy (and improve upon) the hair pictures I had brought. I highly recommend printing out pictures for your trial and wedding by the way. Not only did she do a great job with me, she did a great job with my mom and sister as well. She also finished everybody EARLY! Which is usually unheard of for hair and makeup. With the extra time, she went above and beyond and even helped with my niece's hair out of the kindness of her heart. Who does that?! One of my bridesmaids asked if she could get her eyes done since we had extra time, and Tiffany did a great job on her eyes as well! On top of that, Tiffany was simply a pleasure to be around! So incredibly disappointed. Wish I would have read the recent reviews on this company. Needless to say, the level of communication is little to non existent. I was planning my wedding from another state and told them I was traveling in for a trial and it was handled so unprofessionally. 1st off I left voicemails and emails and had no response. I had to keep reaching out- up until the point where I called the "emergency number" and I was then told I was scheduled, but would call back to confirm and never received a call back. When I followed up since I hadn't heard from anyone, my call was answered and then hung up on. I then received a iphone auto reply text of "Sorry, I can't talk right now." and then STILL never received a call back. Stupidly enough, I still pursued since the reviews and facebook pics were good just to fly in for my trial which was mediocre at best. The day of the trial I called again to make sure time was correct and a child answered the phone...then the owners husband answered and transferred me to a voicemail box. When I arrived the stylist started my hair and then kept texting during it only to tell me that the airbrush make up gun they had there wasn't going to work and that traditional makeup would have to be applied. SO UNPROFESSIONAL. Stay away from this place. It's a joke they need to get more desk/administrative support staff and keep the business separate from personal phones etc. Terrible customer service. read more

When it came to booking hair and makeup for my wedding in June, I already knew that I wanted to work with the Destiny & Light team. I recently attended a dear friend of ours wedding and after spending the day with the girls getting ready and witnessing first hand just how amazing everyone looked, I was sold! My wedding inspiration was "Gatsby" glamour with a unique modern twist but with so many ways to go, I wasn't completely sure what I wanted to look like. And to add to the pressure and indecision, our wedding was filmed as part of a major network television series so I was striving for perfection! I can honestly say that I got just that. The moment I reached out via email to Priscilla and Brown, they were so helpful, professional and answered all my questions. (Plus, it doesn't hurt that they are truly just wonderful people through and through). I changed my mind a few times right up until my trial run, but Priscilla handled it with expertise and ultimately guided me to the perfect look with a glamorous statement headpiece, side swept pin curls and a full glam face. My wedding day required quite a bit of logistical planning, but the team were troopers, setting up at two separate locations to get us ready. My bridal party and both MOB/MOG all had their hair and makeup done and couldn't stop raving about how wonderful the team was. We laughed all day and truly had the best getting ready experience. I wanted each bridesmaid to look unique, and I could tell that they truly listened to what each girl wanted, and delivered above and beyond service. And everyone RAVED about the airbrush makeup. This ended up being a nightmare situation. I paid a $100.00 deposit plus taxes and had to pay another $100 cash for a trial run. During the trial run, my face turned out orange and my eyes watered due to hairspray and the airbrush being sprayed in my eyes. This caused the makeup to come off. Not what I wanted for my wedding day. I requested a retrial in effort to make it work as my wedding day neared, they advised that I would need to pay another $75.00. After several more phonecalls they agreed to not recharge. I explained in detail and provided pictures of what I wanted and needed. During the 2nd trial run my eyes watered again and the makeup was too dark and blotchy. I decided to just have them do our hair (5 girls includng myself) and that we would do our own makeup as we could do a better job. The owner then advised that she would not send more than one girl and that we would have to rent another hotel room for her to start at 10am versus that contracted start time of 1pm as we already had a bridal room booked from 1-6pm). When I responded to her text message that this was not feesable to change at the last minute, she stated thats all she would do since we were just doing "hair" and not makeup, its wasn't "worth it to her" to send a 2nd stylist to fulfill her contractual obligation. After numerous phonecalls and emails (as they are never available and since the beginning I always reached the voicemail) I finally requested a refund, and yes, you guessed it they refused to refund my deposit.
