I've been waiting for it to open. A veritable greenhouse in the middle of downtown brooklyn. I didn't have coffee as I've been on a self imposed restriction-- yes, I know I sound insane. But I did have the aromática-- their version of a tea, made with fresh fruit and infused in hot water. I had the ginger, kiwi, date aromática. Light and refreshing. Plus, free WiFi and outlet. Tucked away on the corner of Livingston and Bond, Devocion opened its doors to its DoBro residents about a month and a half ago and I absolutely love this place!!! It's as if you've stepped inside Columbia with its yellow-tiled floors, the large, Amazonian plants that live in the center of the café and infectious Latin beats coming in from the speakers. Beware: CASHLESS I came here with my friend around 1830 today, almost closing time. There weren't any pastries left so we only got to try their drinks. We had Iced Latte & Iced Espresso, and oh-oh-oooh they were great! And I loved their eco vibes interior! Toilet was clean too. read more

Misinformation took me on a wild goose chase. Popped in here to see if they do the boxed coffee for office events they say no but the burg one does (Williamsburg). Great thanks for the info. I had called the wb location but it's a general number for wholesale and my question on yelp never received a response. I waited till the date I need it today and see they open at 7 great I work an hr later. Get to the shop they look at me perplexed af and point at coffee beans to brew myself. I looked at them like are you kidding, I mean the boxes, they say they don't do that. I let them know that their newly opened location told me they do and they should inform their managers so the misinformation doesn't continue to spread. Overall second terrible work related experience. Coffee is still great but come on:/ FYI definitely need to jump on those traveler boxes as a business, especially by the downtown business bustling area. read more

Found a cafe that brought me to another country! The place is filled with plants and trees, which gives such a relaxing atmosphere. Stopped by a Monday morning around 10:15am and this place was packed! The place is medium sized, there's enough seats for maybe 10-15 people. I waited a little bit before I ordered because there was only one barista who was busy making drinks for the previous order. She saw that I was waiting awhile so she greeted me first and asked what I wanted before ringing me up at the register. She was friendly and knowledgeable. I had the latte, which was made to the perfect temperature and taste. Also, beautiful latte art! I honestly wasn't sure what to expect but I'm a strong coffee drinker and it didn't disappoint me. If you like Colombian coffee, this is a place you have to visit! The prices are your average nyc cafe prices. They only take card (cashless establishment)! Also, free WiFi! read more

This is definitely five star quality but taking off a star for how pricy it is. Cold brew 5 dollars is crazy. I usually get their unfused apple tea that is delicious and not a rip off at 3.5. Stars are for technically good coffee and fabulous atmosphere, but it's too expensive for its own good. We're talking more than Starbucks prices for a normal drip coffee. I tried to get a tea once, but all they have are infusions: basically fruit chunks in water. No flavor, and like $4. And no caffeine. Bad choice on my part maybe? I'd rather have a normal tea. Devocion is one of my new favorite neighborhood coffee shops. It's beautiful, with an oasis of leafy plants standing tall in the middle in the high-ceiling room. I love sitting in the leather chairs by the plants; it transports me to some kind of magical garden. This is a great cafe to read and work. There are plenty of outlets, fast wifi (although apparently not available on the weekends), a decent amount of seating, and great natural light. The menu is on the higher end compared to other local coffee shops. My benchmark is the price of a drip coffee--here it's $3.00 (compared to, say, $2.50 at Absolute Coffee). read more

Cool decor - a genuinely tropical feel to the place with lots of plants in it! I had a delicious cappuccino and enjoyed sitting in one of the window seats. There are relatively few seats in this place - 30 tops, most of which are in pairs at tables, but some of which have cooler more living-room-esque feels to them. The music was underwhelming to me, but not offensive to the ears...just not my style and kind of loud. Cashless place, which I kind of like, but only if you've got your card with you. read more

This is one of the few cafes in Downtown Brooklyn that's actually both a) decently sized with outlets for use and b) has a cozy atmosphere with windows. You won't believe how hard it is to find both in a cafe or workspace downtown - nearly impossible actually. For that reason, Devocion is almost always packed. They have just enough tables to accommodate 15 or so people, and any more than that is a squeeze. You know that feeling when you enter a cafe and immediately begin eyeing the people already sitting, laptops out, to determine who is going to get up soon? Who has an extra chair they don't mind sharing? That's when the crowded cafe panic seeps in, usually at the same time that you begin to notice how comfortable the cafe feels and how soft the music is. Devocion is nearly perfect, from the food they offer (the mini carrot cake is AMAZING!), the service (everyone who works here deserves a damn raise, appreciate you all), and the decor, which is both playful and vibrant thanks to all the plants and wood tables and chairs paired tastefully with stone accents. I would date this cafe if that were a thing, but she's unavailable most of the time. Come early and try to get a seat if you can, it's worth the effort. read more

The 2 star review is not in the beautiful appeal within the coffee shop. I've encountered this place a few times already. The inner decor is absolutely beautiful. Theirs wifi. They're card only. They roast their coffee in house. Which is AMAZING. Working so closely with the farmers is such a huge appeal of mine when getting caffeinated at new places. However, I am disappointed. The few times I've been here, the service has been underwhelming. Considering how much the company focuses on their aesthetics and appeal, I would expect their staff to be a bit more trained with service. It is unfortunate. I will not be back. read more

Ordered an oat milk mocha and the dulce de leche Kouign Amann. Both were delicious and I honestly considered going back for another mocha. The decoration and ambiance is nice and both the person at the register and behind the bar were extremely kind. Perhaps the rudest customer service I've ever had in a coffee shop. When asked if I wanted take-out or eat-in I looked around for a spare seat and said "eat-in if there's a spare seat" to which the female assistant just looked blankly and said "we don't control the seating". I couldn't believe how rude she was being and the conversation went downhill from there. I said she'd lost a customer and she replied "that's fine". So astonishingly bad. The seating arrangement are out of the ordinary and inspire socializing but still offer some areas to get work done. I have been buying my beans here for years even when my budget didn't really allow it because I respect excellent coffee beans. But after being treated rudely by the large human with the turquoise hair and the long raggedy, dirty fingernails the last two times, I will be buying my expensive coffee beans from another roaster. Please do not tell me that I am being picky when I ask if you have any fresher beans and do not look at me like I am a nutcase when I comment on recently raised prices. I was not complaining about either situation, merely asking if you have anything fresher and was caught off guard that $17 beans are now $19. This is pricey stuff and I want to be treated nicely. We wonder about love and devotion, Lauren and I, and what it means. What makes what worth what... We think we're on the same page drinking stupidly expensive coffee in the chic spot that is Devocion. Lauren says she's not ready to settle down. She says she wants to stay with me. She likes this life of coffee shops and art musings, she likes posing for me in front of the mural of succulents and whatever greenery is framed against the dramatic exposed brick of Devocion. I tell her, I'm tired. No amount of caffeine can rid my fatigue. She asks of what? And I look around and say, "This. I'm tired of spending so much money on lattes and pretending to work." People of our generation tell me about their jobs and I can't figure out what anyone's actually doing or how they afford seven dollar croissants. I don't know anyone for instance that can lay brick. I do know a bunch of baristas though... And for their survival we shall heed the call to tip, for they depend on the generosity of artist Williamsburg. The economics of oppressed hipsters is simple. It's a great thing I'm one of the few that sells painting. I always tip, making my 4.50 cold brew 5.50... and where does it end? I want to cry, always. "We think we're living unique lives but we're all just drinking expensive lattes," I say, and she's getting sick of my cynicism. It's the beginning of our end. "And then we'll leave [Devocion] to eat the same burrito as everyone else, and vacation in the same places, etc, etc." This is not my New York dream. My dream is lost in the plant wall. My eyes cross. The coffee is good, but I wonder how sustainable, and about how long Lauren's Brooklyn dream will survive alongside rats, before it crumbles under the pressure of needing a savings account. read more

Super cute cafe in downtown Brooklyn! 5 stars for decor and a tasty latte. This cafe is very spacious, however, there isn't a ton a seating area. When you walk in there is this cute green oasis with 4 chairs, which is a perfect place to do some reading. There are also tables and chairs surrounding the greenery area. (hope that makes sense). The only negative thing I have to say about this place is the music is a little too loud. Aside from that it is a perfect spot to study/have a coffee. There is free wifi too! read more
