I was treated about 3 months, and by the end, my elbow was fully back to its prior functioning. When I needed to obtain PT in early 2020, for a 9-12 month rehab schedule following knee surgery (ACL + cartilage + meniscus all repaired), I naturally considered STAR. I'm 6 months into the PT rehab, and the recovery is going very well, thanks in large part to the professionals at STAR. They have 4-5 PTs on staff, plus two junior (non-PT) staff members for each shift. The facility if fairly large. There is a dedicated cardio area. There is a weight room area. There is a room with 4-5 patient tables, where they work on the patent with massage, "cupping", graston tools, or other treatments. And there is a large room for patients to receive pre-treatment heat, and post-treatment ice and/or stim. The staff is extraordinarily friendly, engaging in banter during the session and making the session fly by with chit chat. Don't get me wrong - as the name suggests (STAR = strength training and recovery), they work you hard. While the treatment can be challenging, it pays dividends in terms of quick, lasting recovery. During Covid, STAR stayed open, as PT is considered an essential service. I was grateful for that, given the long recovery road I was facing. The moment the Covid shutdown started, STAR quickly pivoted in order to comply. To promote cleanliness and physical distancing, they drastically reduced the number of patients being seen at any moment, and implemented a rigorous cleaning regimen. Everything that someone touches is immediately cleaned after the exercise is finished. One of the 2 junior staff members is dedicated to just cleaning - watching to see when each patient is done with a piece of equipment, and then immediately cleaning it. And masks are enforced. The staff is professional, knows their stuff, and provides excellent physical therapy. While I hope I never need PT again, if I do, I will certainly return to STAR.

I'm glad this place has helped some people. I am not one of those people…read more 1. Your physical therapist will be juggling multiple patients during your session 2. At the beginning when they do the massage stuff - mine wasn't even paying attention to me - instead, chit-chatting the whole time with another employee 3. They give you some exercises to do while there and then leave you alone so no one is watching form, etc. 4. I had to ask for home exercises. I was told "just do what we did here". I had to ask again for a print-out of the exercises and be seemed surprised to be asked that. 5. After two sessions I went from having a simple issue of pain upon certain movements to greatly reduced shoulder function. Stay Away.

The staff was patient with me and the paperwork was pretty straightforward. Once inside the exam room, a medical assistant asked questions and made sure I was comfortable before the doctor came in. The doctor looked through the notes and asked questions that made me think they actually paid attention. They talked about a few possible explanations and gave me an idea of what kind of progress to look for. They seemed to weigh out options without sounding unsure. The visit wasn't perfect but it gave me a better picture of what I might be dealing with. The environment was clean and they seemed to care about keeping things running on time without rushing through patients. I'll keep this office in mind for the future.

To say we are disappointed with Diablo's services is an understatement. We are angry, frustrated, and extremely annoyed. When my mom fell last summer and broke her knee, she required PT for her gait, hips, and recovery. We were referred to Diablo in Menlo Park. We were anxious to get her into a routine with a good therapist to get her back on her feet. Instead, we could barely get an appointment. We were constantly told they were understaffed. On top of that, we had to switch therapists because the first one she saw was rude and seemed completely exhausted with her job. Front desk staff promised to call us with cancellations but never did. My mom would go weeks without PT, even though her doctor's referral specifically ordered sessions two times per week. We are not high-maintenance people. We tried to be patient and understanding about the staffing shortages. However, after talking with others, I realized this business seems to prefer clients who pay out of pocket over those using Medicare. We felt completely pushed off. I have never seen such a cold, unfriendly, and unaccommodating business. It is truly sad. After eight months of putting up with Diablo, we finally switched to Star Physical Therapy in Redwood City. They have been fabulous! We have no problem getting appointments. They text us immediately if there is a cancellation, and they send regular text and email reminders. Shame on us for not doing this sooner. The environment at Star is warm and inviting, with great music playing. All of the therapists are upbeat and genuinely care. They even help walk my mom to the car and offer heating treatments when she is in discomfort. They also have much more equipment than Diablo. While it is frustrating that we aren't further along a year after her fall, we are so grateful we found Star. My mom actually looks forward to going to PT now.

Her bedside manner is attentive, knowledgeable, welcoming and "goal"-oriented (she wants you to get better asap!) I went to Julie for mysterious bladder symptoms in 2020 that I suspected were endometriosis symptoms. The various doctors were unable to relieve the symptoms or confirm the cause. Julie did both. Julie treated me for these endo symptoms. I had been experiencing extreme recurring bladder pain for about a year when I went to her. After 3-4 pelvic PT sessions, my bladder pain completely resolved. I did not experience pain for another 2 years, and that was because I went off birth control and my endo got worse. I went back to Julie 2022-2023 for endo symptoms (bladder, bowel and ovulation cramping pain) and infertility. Once again, Julie helped reduce my endo pain significantly. I believe our sessions also improved my body's state for getting pregnant. Above and beyond her PT care, she was incredibly supportive during the particularly vulnerable experience of infertility.

After my last botox treatment in June, my urologist brought up pelvic floor physical therapy to help with the pain and near-constant spasms. Thank goodness I chose Julie from the list of providers in the area! After one session, I had a pain-free day! And the days following were less painful. I finally feel hope of being pain-free at some point. Julie is kind, empathetic, and professional. She really listens and asks great questions. It can feel like "TMI" but the more you share with her, the better she can help you on your healing journey.
