My close friend spent 21 days in this facility recovering from a 10 day stay at Mill-Peninsula hospital. I observed and my friend, who was a patient there, agree that he received excellent care in the custody of this facility. All the staff from the nurses, to the physical therapists, to the effervescent activities director (Snow), were extremely attentive, caring and very conscientious with regard to taking care of the patients. Although the structure itself is older, it is extremely clean and well cared for, I would highly recommend this facility to anyone needing skilled nursing services. read more

Many of the nurses made profound difference in mom care, gosh I can name them all if I can remember all their names. Chello the director is compassionate and genuinely empathic, truly one of a kind. Grant/Jennifer/Jayme became an essential source of emotional support for me during an extremely difficult time. Their upbeat personality, calm presence, and attentiveness. The team's dedication went far beyond expectations. From the very first moment we met the staff, have demonstrated professionalism, kindness, and an unwavering commitment. The woman I was visiting seemed to be getting good care. Nursing staff were very nice. The room was clean though cramped. What I was appalled at was the noise level from staff. (I visited twice during the day and once in the early evening). All three times there was loud laughter, staff all speaking loudly, calling out to other staff who were at the other end of the hallway. It is definitely not a quiet or peaceful environment for healing. read more

On Christmas eve, I went to visit my Aunt (for the second time) who is staying at Peninsula Post-Acute Short-Term Care. I went by myself, which meant I had to interact with nurses and staff. The Receptionist had informed me that my Aunt had been moved to a different room. While I was there, my Aunt said her new room mate's TV was too loud. So I got a nurse to address that problem. Then my Aunt's clothing wasn't moved to the new room. Someone tracked down the garments. Then my Aunt kept trying to get out of bed to use the bathroom. The nurse came and told my Aunt she's not allowed to use the bathroom, and she has to wait for a CNA to help her. I know the nurses were very busy at the station, but they took the time to help with all my Aunt's issues as I saw them. I was only there for an hour. If you have a loved one at this hospital, it's important that you visit them. read more

Don't. Believe a word of these reviews. This place is awful! It looks nothing like those pictures. It's a mess with crap everywhere. Sure, Some of the nurses are very nice, but I wouldn't want my loved one to ever come back to this place. The patients aren't getting the care and attention they need or deserve. Some of them are lucky if they get out of bed. Only to sit in the hallway for hours. They're all lined up in the hallway like cattle waiting for slaughter. Disgusting! I felt so sad and depressed after being in this place for just a few minutes. There's no physical therapist on staff on the weekends. That means you're loved one, just sits in the hallway, or lays in bed all weekend. WTH!!! They have a nice Courtyard. I don't understand why they're not bringing more people out there. These people should be ashamed of the way they run this facility. If you love your family member, do your due diligence, don't let them come here if there are other options.... read more

You need to get in and out of this place as quickly as possible. If you have a loved one, make sure you check in at random times and be as involved as possible so the staff does not mistreat them. The staff seems to be unaware what they signed up for, they all seem uninterested in their jobs and lacking compassion for patients. If you can avoid sending your family member here, please do. This facility is so understaffed that the people who work here do not have enough time to provide the level of care patients deserve. Unless you are here to constantly advocate for your loved one, they will not receive a basic level of care. We sit here with my mother constantly asking for me and still wait sometimes an hour for her needs to be addressed. I feel badly for the patients first but also the staff because they are so incredibly overworked it is unfair to them as well. These types of facilities face many issues but we have been through this before. Los Altos Post Acute have far more staff members who are able to work together and serve patients in a timely matter with a more positive and less exhausted response. If you are able to choose between here and somewhere else please do your research. I would not wish this level of care on anyone and the people who are in charge of staffing budgets here should be ashamed of themselves. read more

I rarely give 3-star reviews, because why bother? I am basically saying "average". Here's the thing: the reason for the 3 stars is because of excellent things tempered by terrible things. My mother (85- dementia and other health issues) stayed here for a week and a half after a hospital stay. First, the good stuff: every conversation I had with one of Mom's direct caregivers was terrific. They seemed engaged and driven to help. All of the people from the therapy team (speech, occupational, physical) were lovely and very informative. When I found Mom's nurses, they were also very communicative and committed to Mom's well-being. Next, the bad stuff: No one ever reached out. I had to go to the facility and wander the halls asking for information. There were times - most noticeably on weekends - when no one was around to answer questions or give me status. The front desk was only vaguely staffed. Sometimes, when I would call the main number, it would just ring and ring- not even voicemail. I finally got someone and they transferred me to leave a message for the care team and didn't hear back, so I went to the facility. The woman sitting at the front desk (most times) on weekdays seemed annoyed that I was asking questions and would begrudgingly provide information. After not hearing back from my phone call, I arrived and asked the front desk person who I should talk to about the care plan. She walked me down a hall, then pointed down another hall to a door and said, "Knock on that." When I got to that door, a sign was taped to it that said, "In a meeting, come back later." So I returned to the grumpy lady, and she said, "Well, we can't contact them. They're in a meeting". I went back to the door and knocked anyway; the person who came out was informative and helpful (why the sign?). Again, on a weekend, a man in another room kept yelling for help. I went to the nurse's station and said, "There's a guy in that room who is asking for help." She said, "They already saw him." I said, "But he's yelling for help," she just turned back to her screen. So I went in and asked what he wanted, and he said he wanted to move from the bed to a wheelchair. I am not medically trained and was afraid to do that on my own, so I returned to another person who went in to help. This person came back out afterward and explained that he always yells and sometimes doesn't remember. That's fine. Just tell me that. It was hard to process the first conversation as a human with empathy. In short, communication and care were excellent once I initiated it, but lousy otherwise. If mom requires skilled nursing again, I will look elsewhere. If I could pick the people that were amazing and take them to a place where everyone was amazing, that would be the best option. read more

One of the worst experiences of my life. No care, nothing no empathy just treated worst than a dog . My first night I went to use bathroom and not knowing how weak I was I had to pull the line for help. I was then told to use bathroom down the hall with no Lock and away from the room. Was not shown where the light switches were. I was and I was a fall risk which is why the whole reason I was there. Treated worst than a dog. It only got worse from there. Yelled at disrespectful and told these jerksI have worked all my life. Worse place ever. Avoid if possible. read more

Patient sent home with some staff stating "unsafe discharge". Ants around the bed stand and on the bed. Medical wheel chair ordered, and not received at home, this is day 3 from when PPAC Ordered for him. Patient needs assistance for personal hygene. Patient had hip and leg surgery and and requires assistance to manipulate the Walker which he has only 50% weight-bearing on the surgery leg. Please be careful when choosing your nursing home after surgery and don't fall into the hands of the incorrect facility who will lie about your condition. read more

Compassionate, quality care! My father had surgery and needed care post op to rehab and recover. I cannot say enough about Peninsula Post Acute. The administrator went over and above to assist in admitting my father and make sure the admission process went as smoothly as possible. Everything from the nursing care, the Dr on site, the physical therapists, occupational therapist and even housekeeping and the front desk staff. All went out of their way to make us all feel welcomed and reassured that my father was being well cared for so he could recover and transition to home at his pace. The facility is extremely clean and does not have any odors except the quality food that is cooking during the day to nourish their patients. Not recommending this one because the workers are not skilled most especially during the times of a certain Aurora! She is rude to my family & to other staff there in front of other patients. I was a patient here for three weeks recovering from a broken leg. I received very good care here . The place is old and run down but they keep it clean and it doesn't have that nursing home smell. Shout out to Maria and Nancy, they were my primary CNAs and worked so hard helping all their patients. The physical therapy team is also top notch and really tries to work with what you can do and push you to go further. My first roommate was the sweetest 100 year old recuperating from hip surgery and the care team always took excellent care of her. They also have a great social activities director that tries really hard to brighten everyone's day. My only real complaint is the food, it is terrible. You can work with the food director to try to get what you like but it's still pretty bad. The good side of that is as a fat person I managed to lose weight even thought I couldn't walk and was in bed most of the time or sitting in my wheelchair. read more

Let me start off my by saying that it is difficult to find a good skilled nursing facility in general. We looked at another facility and that was horrid. This facility has a gym and doesn't have that yucky senior facility smell. Unfortunately, it seems most places that were awesome pre Covid are now just mediocre post Covid. Most of the staff was nice, but as with most places you need to be able to advocate for yourself or you will be ignored for the most part. My MIL didn't speak English and had dementia so didn't know to push the button when she needed something. It is a nice facility and the proximity to Mills Peninsula was great. I just wish they had people who could interact with my MIL more. read more

When my mom was in the facility, the care team was great. We had care meetings with them. The only thing is the other staff members were terrible. They didn't like answering our questions when we called and even when we were visiting my mom, they were rude. Briana was such a great help and very attentive to all our needs. She came in and gave us all the help she could. Even the Director of Nursing didn't acknowledge us. She was at the front desk when some of the nurses were being abrupt in answering our questions. For the most part, my mom got the care she needed, but it didn't help her. I hope they do better and work on their people skills. read more

I was visiting a family member of mine and This short nurse Ivy is very unprofessional and was not nice to my father I asked her to get my father a blanket and water,she stated it's not my job and she ran to get the CNA even though they were in another patients room helping them, shes rude to cnas and talks down to them and is not team player will yell at CNA I don't know why they hired her, it seems like the cnas don't like work with her and I don't blame them.I thought nurses were supposed to help patients I guess not with this one. read more

I had big issues at first it seems like social services always left me with unanswered questions. One time Amy said she would be back to assist me and never came back . I never want her back in my room. But then I had a young girl assist all my needs help me with my insurance Jello and Maryland are amazing. Very responsive and check up on me daily. Today she caught me eating and stop by sat with me and had a nice conversation with me. She makes me smile and that is wonderful. My mom had hip surgery and had to have rehabilitation here. She had stayed here for 20 days being in the bed most of the time. The only time she got out of bed was doing physical / occupational therapy was in the afternoons. Otherwise most patients are stuck in bed. The nurses are nice but they are short staff on the weekends and at nights. You know to wear a diaper if you need help to the restroom since they do not come. Or most are afraid to go since I have heard patients being left in the bathroom and the nurses forget they are there since they are busy and have no time to wait. Unless I was visiting and went to the nurse's station to get someone then my mom wore a diaper or two throughout her stay. The food at this place is bland (no salt) and not good at all but healthy. For this place, it is like most nursing facilities. The CNAs and LVNs are busy due to staffing shortages which makes it difficult to get help . The best chance may be when they come with your meds or food that you may be able to get a nurse or if a visitor comes and can flag them down. They do have a physician that comes weekly to check on the patients. The visiting hours end at 6pm but they do not enforce it as they know people work late and come after work which is a plus. Majority of the rooms have two patients sharing the room. My mom is home and doing well going to the restroom by herself. read more

This is a horrible place to put elderly patients. My mother had to stay much longer than necessary because of their horrible care. She quickly declined under their care. NOBODY CARES! They rarely got her out of bed, did not try to help her improve. Put in a Foley catheter which led to a very bad urinary tract infection, that ultimately killed her. She got septic, pneumonia, sacral wound injury and no one seemed to notice her decline. I had to call 911 to get her to the nearby hospital. Those are all hospital acquired issues. She was mentally alert, talkative, but needed rehab from her small stroke. They left her to die. We eventually found a place for her to live out her last few days, but it was too late. She did not live much longer. I have to say Barbara the speed therapist seemed to care, might be the only one that did. The nurses were extremely rude, incompetent, uninterested in safe patient care. The woman at the front desk should get a job that does not involve talking to the public. She is rude, and seemingly can't be bothered with answering questions. I should have called the Joint Commission or the public health department during my mother's stay. DO NOT leave your loved ones there. read more

My aunt was left too long, no rails up, fell out of the bed trying to go to the bathroom when they never answered the ring, nothing was done for 24 hours. Finally when they x-rayed, my aunt had three broken ribs and three blood clots and died 4 days later. read more

Our father stayed at Peninsula Post Acute several times doing rehabilitation work after hospital stays and his medical care and the emotional support he received sped up his recovery and emboldened him to go home safely with strength in all respects. I stayed at Peninsula Post-Acute for the past two months for several broken bones in my left ankle, ending with over two surgeries and many endless overnight pain. Two casts along with a boot, and steel rod thru my left heel (forever). The care and never ending therapy provided me with the ability to be able to walk again. Major should out to Decerie, Skye and the rest of their Therapy Team (A+++). The Nurses, Doctors, CNAs plus all of their staff get my greatest thanks and a job well done!!! It's a very hard job for all. Looking forward to walk without a walker or a cane again. read more

When you read a 1 star, believe it. The 5 star reviews are mainly from in-house employees and friends. This building is a cesspool of filth and disease. The spread of COVID 19 in the building is severe. So severe it put two patients back in the hospital, and the staff stated they only had "diarrhea". The atmosphere is depressing as a leaky basement in a horror film. Grey walls, sad patients and a slew of 20 something's, more worried about social media than your loved one. From the crass German lady that should be retired, at the door, to Hunter Mitchell, the perky yet under developed "director" that has no public credentials and was seemingly placed as a favor by the older-male-friend owner... hmmm... let that sink in... to Rekha Bugata in rehab that spends no time with patients, and signs off on FICTITIOUS patient progress reports. And of course there is Jodi, the physical therapist that calls a patient's cries for help as "bluff".. this woman lies through her teeth, and plays this transparent & odd "goody two shoes" bit... Put your foot down to for the assistance from a younger, more physically abled PT. Bob, the Ombudsman is no help; the affection he shows for Hunter, the director, is alarming and strange... let that one sink in too. The graveyard shift was so loud that it prevented my father to have a restful night sleep. Facility is old and not updated. The room, my father stayed in, did not have a bathroom or a sink. The bathroom in the hallway was cluttered and did not have enough space for my father to do a routine that the occupational therapist wanted him to try. On a positive note, the custodians clean the floor daily and the facility seems to be clean overall. read more

The only good things about this place are OT and PT staff are really caring and kind. Most patients are in double rooms which are extremely cramped with a shared bathroom with 4 patients sharing one toilet. There are only 3 shower rooms with showers only being offered every few days. The food is abismal with canned almost rotten fruits and vegetables. There are not enough nurses or staff members and oversight is rampant here. My mom checked in late at night after a hospital stay and not all of her pills arrived with her. They did not tell us this and the next night the night nurse mentioned offhand that her most important pill hadn't arrived yet. I was flabbergasted at how blasé the staff acted. If you're looking to come here for acute rehab, be sure to be ready to advocate for yourself/loved ones as much as you can. Nurses/nursing aides take quiet some time to arrive if called and seem almost annoyed when they do. Visiting hours are between 8am-6pm and my mom said her doctor only came outside of those hours so her loved ones were not present. She said the staff are extremely loud/chatty at night in the hallway and she couldn't sleep a wink after 8pm. Today, my mom fell because she felt lightheaded in the communal shower room due to being rushed along by nursing staff and they did not check her vitals until 2 hours afterward. read more

My mother has been in this rehabilitation facility for over a week now. Yesterday she waited for over two hours for someone to help her. She was slumped down in the bed and needed her bed adjusted to take the pressure off her back. This is totally unexceptable response time. She has had to wait multiple times for a nurse to finally show up. I worked in occupational health and safety for the state for many years and this is appalling! I have seen nurses and staff standing around chatting while patients call buttons are lit. The majority of the patients are elderly. This place has been cited for quality care and treatment, slow response time, nursing services and administration personal. I want to talk with the Director of Nursing Services or someone in charge.​ read more
