I normally do not write negative reviews about businesses because I understand that everyone has a bad day from time to time. However, the behavior we experienced from this company today was completely unacceptable and went far beyond simply being rude. A lane was closed while the crew was working. There was a vehicle more than a quarter mile away, so my husband had plenty of time to safely proceed around the work area. Instead, one of the workers stepped in front of his vehicle and refused to allow him to move, while aggressively yelling and using profanity toward my husband. My husband did not respond or say anything to the workers while they continued to curse at him. He simply waited until the approaching vehicle had passed. The worker then yelled that he was not moving and that we could just wait. At that point, I leaned out of my car door and took a picture of the company's name because I wanted to document who we were dealing with. The worker on the bed of the truck then began directing profanity and insulting language toward me as well. I did not say anything to him until he repeatedly called me the "C" word. I asked him if he wanted me to video him calling a woman that name, to which he responded, "Go ahead, you are a C." Before I could even begin recording, the other worker finally moved, and my husband simply said, "Let's just go." We left rather than escalate the situation. I understand that road work can be frustrating and that workers may encounter impatient drivers. However, there is absolutely no excuse for blocking someone's vehicle, aggressively confronting them, repeatedly using profanity, or verbally abusing a customer--especially when the customer has not said anything disrespectful to you. I am sharing this so people in Citrus County can make an informed decision before hiring Clay Pools Tree Service.

They quickly responded and gave us an estimate that we accepted. We were told they would contact us at least a day ahead of the work being done. Randomly about a week later a crew showed up on a day we were going to be gone. No warning. They started working and we started to leave. The supervisor flags us down and asks for payment in full. We explained that we did not have the payment yet as it had not been transferred into the account we were paying them with. He firmly stated that they needed payment right then. The job was just started, we were not contacted that they were coming that day. My husband ran back in the house to write a check and asked them not to cash it until the next week. They agreed. The job was supposed to be completed that day. When we got home later that evening we noticed there were several things that had not been completed. In the meantime our check did clear. What followed was 2 weeks of bad communication and promises broken. They would say they would be at our house at a certain time and day and then not show up, and not text or call with a reason. We always had to call them. Finally my husband got pretty direct with the owner and told him how disappointed we were with the situation and that he just wanted the job completed. He was gaslighted a bit by the owner. The next day the owner finally completed the work. For this we appreciate that he finally honored his word. This company touts their faith as the backbone of their business. The landscape stonework was done very nicely. Unfortunately, 3 of the 7 bushes they planted died. We are just happy to be done with the situation and suggest to the owner and his supervisor's to just communicate with their future customers. That is pretty easy in a time of texting and cell phone technology.
