We forgot our discs. We called around to see if any local stores had them - thankfully Dewey was the first place I called! I spoke to (Bryan? Ryan?) and it was meant to be. Turns out they don't stock them, but (Bryan? Ryan?)was a pro disc golfer and knew just where to send us! If the stores failed us, he joked he had some in his trunk. Thankfully for him, we were able to grab some from the store to destroy instead. Next time we're in the area to fish we know where to stop!

Unfortunately, I have been consistently disappointed--not primarily because the fish weren't always biting, but due to multiple unprofessional issues with the guides. Key problems I've experienced include guides arriving late to the meeting point, a lack of basic familiarity with the lake, and smoking on the boat. On our most recent trip with guide Fred Palermo, he took over an hour to reach the fishing spot. In a standard boat with a 15-horsepower motor, the same distance should have taken no more than 30 minutes. It was obvious he was deliberately stalling to eat into my paid time. At this price point, customers deserve punctual, knowledgeable, and professional service. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this shop for guided trips.

Likewise the price for my boots was actually really affordable (cheaper even than if I had bought them online!). Anglers and hunters will also appreciate the wide selection of gear (and clothing). It's good to support the local businesses that keep Eagle River running. And it's not hard when there's quality products, good service and excellent prices.
