Eh. I'd like to give 3 1/2 stars, but that's not allowed, so I'm giving this place the benefit of the doubt and 4 - maybe they just had an off day when I was there. One thing I had was thoroughly excellent, one was so bad I only took a couple of bites then tossed it, and the other thing I got was just OK. The best thing I ate was the brisket sandwich. Wow. So tender, delicious smoky flavor, nice and moist, didn't need any sauce at all. The menu said it came with coleslaw on top, and since my order was to go, it came on the side, but it was actually pretty tasty by itself. It came on a "deli roll", which was not much larger than a hotdog bun, but there was plenty of meat. Thing I could not take more than a few bites of where their Cajun fries. My fries were limp, to the point of being wiggly, they seemed to be just barely cooked, and even worse, they were not hot. The seasoning was OK, but I felt like it was sprinkled on as an afterthought rather than the fries having been tossed in it. The OK thing was my half rack of ribs. Looked beautiful, and while I do love a smoky crust of smoke ring on my ribs, this was the crust was hard and just too dried out. Tasted great, though. And I will say that when I heated them up the next day, the crust had softened a bit, but there were still bits that were tough. So my suggestion is, get the brisket, ribs if you need to, but stay away from those fries! I do love their slogan of "cooking butts and taking names", so maybe they are worthy of me trying one more time just for that!

Amazing. Visiting Missouri went into this barbecue place and was taken back by how great this restaurant is. The people were so nice the food was incredible the place was incredible everything was just so much more than I was expecting. Headed south for a vacay, and stopped here for lunch. Hubby ordered the pork plate with potato salad and baked beans for sides. I ordered a brisket sandwich that came with an itty-bitty container of slaw. The potato salad had more flavor than a lot I've tried, so got my vote for best side tried. The meats were both flavorful, fall apart tender, and juicy. I particularly enjoyed the variety of saucez.

Had lunch here a few times, the food is all very good the brisket sandwich is delicious. Not fancy but nice clean lots of room but get very crowed certain times, also a phone in and drive in pick up and go. Plenty of soft drinks and icecream Good place to try, good barbecue. read more

I don't know what you expect in a BBQ restaurant, but this one was unlike most I have been. Most BBQ places turn the food out to you fast because it's all already cooked, unless they're slammed. This place has a drive thru, so I expected quick. It took almost 15 minutes despite having no orders waiting before me. I got called "honey" and other sweet nicknames so many times, it felt abnormal; this isn't Georgia. Then the food came. Then brisket was excellent and generously portioned. I didn't detect much smoke, as it could have been baked in an oven, but still really tasty. That's the end of the good news. The coleslaw looked and tasted like KFC. Clearly not made in house. The okra was also mass produced and it's deep frying explained my delay. The Texas toast was fine. The oldest thing was the sauces. The only good one was the little portion cup that came with my meal. The table ones were awful. The hot was all Louisiana hot sauce, no balance. The sweet was too sweet. The vinegar was too much vinegar. And I didn't try the mustard, but I'm guessing too much mustard. Do they not care about subtlety? Must every sauce scream what they are and not fit any entrée? If you care about meat, it's worth a stop, but forget about anything else. read more

Hands down THE WORST BBQ restaurant I've ever experienced. First off, i went in while my family waited in the car to see if they were doing indoor dining. I said hi to the lady at the counter while she just stared at me. Which is fine. Farmington charm for you I guess. She said they were and i went back out to get my family. Now, onto the WORST BBQ food I've ever had in my life. Both my wife and I got the brisket sandwich. $6.99 for about $3 of food. Also fine. It is a business. But it was hands down the worst. Thinly shaved dry brisket on a really cheap bun. We also got the "Cajun fries". Do you wanna know what frozen fries taste like after spilling half of your spice rack on them? Get the Cajun fries. My daughter got the chicken fingers. Gross. If you loved McDonald's chicken nuggets circa 1980 before the food and drug administration got involved; you'll love these. Gross. And then for the ultimate crap finally, we got the brownie. Also really bad. This place needs help. Not surprised I never see any cars in the parking lot. Worst food ever. read more

Be careful. Dexter has switched some of my favorite ingredients for low quality, poor tasting substitutes. You may want to ask if they have recently made price cuts to your favorite items before ordering!!!! read more

I had the barbecue pork shredded sandwich, it was on Texas toast and had some coleslaw on top. Supreme! The sauce was tangy and added alot to the sandwich. Someone In my party had the Ribs. They were excellent I tried them. A really Nice peppery smokey rub. I highly recommend this place. read more

Rolling through town, coming back from Johnson shut-ins, and a lady told us there was great Bar-B-Que in town. Kinda guessed it was this one... took a shot in the dark honestly. But uhm... we hit the target! I got a pulled pork and Mac n cheese. It was great! I could have done without the oregano on top of the Mac, but it's only because I hate oregano. But the BEST part of the whole experience...??? FREE ICE CREAM!! I am one happy full girl :-) Oh and staff was very friendly and seemed happy to be working. Thanks for the experience! Price is very high ribs were greasy and tasted baked with liquid smoke put in them. I couldn't eat them. Neither could my daughter hers looked more burnt than anything. They should have been at minimum serving temp of 165 there's no way. Nothing came out hot. Don't know how they are getting by with that from the health department. Nachos cold and very small portion size cheese not melted. Very disappointed don't know what happened to this place used to be good. Spent 56.00 on lunch and left hungry. Will not be back. Not trying to hear any Covid excuses either it's just an excuse for laziness. Pretty bad when I can say Bandanas is better because they are trash. Sad excuse for BBQ read more

Absolutely delicious! Some of the best barbecue I've ever had! Stopped in after a long morning of travel. I had the 5 rib dinner and my daughter had the pork nachos. Both were very good. The five rib dinner came with more like 8 ribs. Tender and done to perfection. Many sauces to choose from but the vinegar was my favorite! We will be back! read more

Went there for lunch today w/my boss. I ordered the pulled pork nachos! YUMMY! Boss has the brisket melt and fries which he also enjoyed. Then they informed us of free ice cream and boss LOVED that. Nutshell: Down home BBQ joint, great staff, scrumptious food, with a great price tag. Me and the girls were headed south on a hockey road trip and they got a little peckish. Tried to go to a restaurant next door, but they had just closed up shop about 3 minutes prior. So to Dexter's we went. Best Life Choice Ever! I mean EVER... The folks at the counter were super friendly and helpful with their recommendations. After much deliberation, I settled on the Turkey Melt. My mouth waters just remembering it. The turkey was moist and full of flavor, the pepper jack cheese added a hint of creamy with a kick, and there was a some kind of sauce that can only be described as heavenly smattered on the texas toast. I decided to go healthy...ish and ordered green beans as a side. Talk about a taste of home, very good green beans. They have platters, but most everything else is a la carte. The total ran about $11 with a water. Now the coup de gras: FREE ICE CREAM! I may have gone back for seconds...that may have happened. All in all, you're not going to go hungry from this place. I took a peak at other tables to see what was happening and it all looked fabulous. I highly recommend a stop in. read more

Food is spectacular, I crave it everyday!!! But the staff could be a lot nicer. My first time there, My food came out the same time I found my seat and sat down. The man who placed my food down snatched my number out of my hands so fast and aggressively it had me and the people I was with dumbfounded for a couple seconds. We also saw him being very rude/stern to an elderly couple who had the right number, but didn't have the right food..like it was their fault!! I believe he is the Manager or something with the way he presents himself. I hope he reads this and calms down a bit and can be a lot more gentle. Being kind goes a long way. read more

History

Established in 1983.

After years of cookin' and tastin' and having an entrepreneur spirit he decided he had to share his special, "smokeology" talent with other folks. So, in 1983 Dexter Bar-B-Que was officially founded as a mobile Bar-B-Que service specializing in grocery store promotions and catering. This allowed Dexter-Bar-B-Que, Inc. to build a significant reputation, over a large geographic area, for qualitative, great-tasting Bar-B-Que. This business success evolved into a 32-seat physical location in Dexter, Missouri in 1991. Then a 76-seat location was added in Sikeston, Missouri in 1994, followed by an upgrade of the Dexter location to 90-seats in 1996. In 1999, the Dexter location moved to a new site with 146 seats. Finally, to capitalize on the ever growing market demand for our great-tasting Bar-B-Que, a new multi-million dollar, 244-seat location was built in Cape Girardeau, Missouri in 2002.

Not only am I out about $40, but I had terrible customer service! My managers would have wrote me up if I ever treated my customers like this. I can only hope they get the same treatment.

The cheese they use on their pizzas is ... mouth watering. There are no words to how delicious it is. The ambiance is great. I'm more here for the service, though. The service is what keeps me coming back (almost evenly with the food...but nice people will always trump everything else in my book). The service here is unmatched. Everyone who works here are the kindest, hardest working people on the planet. I normally get the same two drivers (you know who you are...you make my day each time I get to see your smiling faces). I get one driver more than anyone else though, and he is the kindest, sweetest, yet most professional, thoughtful human I've come into contact with. He doesn't say much, but he made a big enough impact on me that I will never order from another pizza place again...not that there is any competition to IMOs pizza anyways. No shade to those other places, they have some good stuff, but if you can afford IMOs, they're the place go order from. Anyway, I could go on and on about Farmington IMOs, and the wonderful people whom work there and deliver food (in the ice/snow/rain/tornado/etc.) and it still will show up hot and fresh. If you're hesitant on where to get dinner from tonight, download the IMOs app (yes, it allows you to customize whatever you want, and it allows you the option to pay with cash or card). Or just give them a call. The app lets you build up rewards though and you can get free sodas, salads, appetizers, and pizzas pretty quickly, to be honest! I recommend the Pepperoni Crunchimos (if they are still selling them when you read this), a sausage pizza, their fries (yummmmmmm), or if you like salads, my go to is the chef salad with ranch, ONLY turkey and bacon, add tomato, hard boiled egg, and extra provel cheese (if I have the money for all of the extras that day after the rest of my order lol). All of their food is *chef's kiss* so you really can't go wrong. Lastly, their lunch specials (also available for delivery or pick up in the app) are the cheapest way to go. You get a pizza and salad, sandwich and salad, etc. with a drink. I could be remembering that wrong, I know you get to pick two things. Either way, it's very fairly priced for everything you get! & if you miss lunch specials, they always have the "specials" tab on the app (& on the phone if you call in). Wednesdays is buy an XL pizza, get an XL free...so I definitely recommend ordering on Wednesdays at the very least. Thank you, IMOs, for making so many of my days and nights better with your food and wonderfully kind employees who go above and beyond to make one's day a little bit brighter. I am so disappointed. My child and I go there often, however today the meat was so very tough and my child had the bbq on a bun and it was hard, he choked on it. We did eat the sides but not much of the meat at all. I asked for a portion of my money back since I indeed ate the sides. The waitress could not find the manager and said he will show up sometime he always goes off like this. 10 minutes later he shows up with a very rude attitude, asked what the issue was and I politely informed him he said I highly doubt that, when I said it was tough and my child had choked. He grabbed the food and stormed back to the register without another word. We followed and stood there a few minutes while hes trying to operate the cash register then he says well heres 18 dollars and turns and walks away. Horrible customer service! I was ok with the change back as I said I did eat the sides and I had paid about 25. I have recommended this place to many people and I have had many meetings here bringing in a lot of revenue. Well because of this managers attitude I will make sure to let everyone know how they take care of their customers. read more

Always great BBQ. You don't have to travel to Memphis or Kansas City for quality BBQ. It's all right here! Love the nachos, but brisket is my favorite. Kids love the ribs and pulled pork. Husband loves the pork steak. Something for everyone! And that twice baked potato?! Wow. Don't forget the free ice cream! And they have a drive-thru and family meals for quality food when there's not enough time to cook. Highly recommend. read more

People were friendly. Not liking the "fast food" feel where you order at the counter. Food was so so. Miss the Branding Iron.
