They arrived early and stayed late, allowing all of our guests to enjoy their amazing setup, a large variety of props, and immediate onsite printing, with digital copies uploaded to Facebook before we had even left for our honeymoon. As the bride and groom, we were pulled in a million directions all night and didn't get to grab any prints after joining guests in the photo booth, but Tim and Stephanie specifically compiled copies of our prints, put them in mini frames and stored them for us to find the next morning - and mailed us a USB of all photos for us to view as soon as we got home from our honeymoon. My personal experience working with him was deeply disappointing, and I feel compelled to share what happened. As someone who is extremely detail-oriented, I planned every element of our wedding carefully. I booked Alex almost two years in advance and was very clear early on about the complexity of an Indian wedding. At first, he seemed to understand. Our initial invoice was around $6,000, but by the month of the wedding, it had grown to $7,790. Every conversation about my expectations seemed to lead to new charges -- for additional speakers, more DJ hours, uplighting, etc. I paid all fees in full via Venmo before the wedding and never pushed back on any of the added costs. When Alex arrived, I personally felt he was unprepared. We had issues with the cold sparklers during our flash mob dance, and I recall him running onto the dance floor and shouting at people in the middle of a carefully rehearsed routine. It really threw me off, and the sparklers didn't go off as planned. His energy came across as frantic and, to me, not very warm or professional. On the day of the wedding, I was told by both my planner and maid of honor that Alex was being difficult to work with and inflexible about changes. I understand that some vendors have strict policies -- he stated he didn't allow any changes within 7 days -- but weddings are fluid events, especially Indian Weddings. He was the only vendor at our wedding who didn't seem able to adapt when things shifted. At the reception, our grand entrance felt chaotic. The music was blasting, and we couldn't even hear our names. Many of my Indian family members' names were mispronounced and felt rushed/mumbled. Alex had not checked pronunciation in advance. One thing that really stood out to me was that Alex had his own videographer filming HIM during the wedding. This was not part of any service I paid for, and it felt strange to see someone creating promotional content at my event. It made me question his motives. I later learned that these recordings are used to document his presence at weddings so he could prove brides wrong if he needed to. During the reception, Alex approached me while I was sitting at the sweetheart table to point out that I hadn't written "instrumental" on one of my entrance songs. It felt unnecessary and poorly timed -- especially since I had created seven playlists, detailed cues, and organized a two-wedding weekend. Mistakes happen. Not even 15 minutes later, the cocktail hour playlist started repeating songs, which made the whole "I'm detail-oriented" comment feel a bit ironic. After the wedding, I felt incredibly let down. In my personal opinion, I was overcharged and underwhelmed. I also didn't feel respected or treated kindly by him during the wedding weekend. I sent Alex a long email explaining how I felt. In response, he firmly stood by his performance, blaming the planner and me for any shortcomings and offering a $300 refund (with a non-disparagement agreement). I declined and asked for a larger refund, and the tone of the conversation shifted. I perceived his responses as defensive and even intimidating. At one point, he mentioned making a video about my wedding (in a negative way) and warned about potential defamation. I decided to rewrite this review to express my side of the story. This is my experience, from my perspective. Of course, Alex may have a very different interpretation of events, and that's his right. But as someone who invested a great deal of time, trust, and nearly $8,000 in this service, I feel it's important to share what it was like for me -- especially for other South Asian brides navigating similarly complex events in the Portland area. I deleted my original review out of fear, but I no longer want to stay silent about how I felt. I refused to be intimidated by someone like Alex Ramey.

I sit on the board of a professional organization here in Portland, and we host events throughout the year which require audio/ video services. There's no room for error when 100 paying attendees are waiting for a video to load, a presentation to display, or a panelist's answer over a PA system. But Audio Professionals NW had me covered, and from moment one. Our main contact was responsive over email and phone, and was even right on the ball when I needed him to work directly with the venue for our event. He stepped in, responded quickly, and always owned it. Best of all, I really felt I was in good hands because he used phrases like "No problem at all" and "We've got you covered." At one point, he replied to a long email I sent that had a ton of questions, by responding with numbered bullets, with each bullet being an answer to one of my questions, just to make sure he addressed everything clearly. It really made me trust their attention to detail. The tech who arrived for our event was a legit AV professional - he wasn't some washed up, hungover audio dude who just happens to know how to run a digital mixer. Not only did he know his stuff, but he knew MY stuff - he was able to tweak my own laptop when it was causing display problems....and I'm a tech geek. But he was also a service professional, and here's why: - He arrived exactly at the time he promised at our venue. - He set everything up without any hitches (not one "hmmm...I wonder why that's not working" moment. Translation: no stress for me.) - He tested everything multiple times to make sure it was perfect...and did it 45 minutes earlier than I had expected to start testing, which was a huge timing win. - He got the volumes right on every single element - all the mics, the video, the general room volume, etc. We didn't need to adjust anything even once during our event. (The equipment was either new and/ or in great working condition. It was spotless and current.) - The wireless microphones were all fully charged, so we had six hours of time on them. (This is a detail that requires foresight, yet which is vital to any event.) - He made an effort to make everything LOOK good - the projector table, the mic stands, the wires, etc. - He was nice, never impatient, and totally reassured me about every little question I was nervous about. - He even returned at exactly the time he and I discussed, then cleaned up, and was on his way as if he'd never been there. Professional, easy to work with, and unobtrusive. Even my colleagues came up to me after our event to say the AV was amazing. Nobody EVER does that about the AV!! The difference is that Audio Professionals NW were extremely COMPETENT and actually CARED to get it right and CARED to be decent people in the process. It's those traits that make Portland the place that it is, and, quite honestly, it's those traits that keep the world from turning into a heap of steaming manure. How many times do you hire a company - for any service - and they just do the minimum, and YOU'RE the one left with the stress and the troubleshooting, having to manage THEM? Now think of the exact opposite and you have Audio Professionals NW.
