We hired Blooming Colors after our backyard got completely out of control. We had weeds everywhere,…read moredead plants, and honestly it just wasn't a place we even wanted to be anymore. I've worked with landscapers before and usually you get a lot of talk and not a lot of follow through. This was different. They gave us a few design options, walked us through everything, and actually communicated throughout the whole project which was huge for me. What really stood out was the quality of the work. We've paid for "premium" service in the past and never really felt like we got it. With Blooming Colors, you can tell they care. The details, the cleanup, the way everything came together, it just felt right. Now our backyard is a place we actually want to spend time in again, which I didn't think I'd say a few months ago. We'll be using them going forward for both our home and our rental properties here in Southlake. No question.

I walked into Blooming Colors Nursery on Saturday, ready to spend money and left Wednesday…read morewondering how $500 trees come with $0 worth of integrity (for context, similar Japanese maples run about $115 at Home Depot). Here's the story... Before purchasing, I made it crystal clear I needed HOA approval (as an "exception" because it's not on our approved landscaping list). On that lovely Saturday, the very helpful sales associate, Olivia, confidently assured me I'd get a full refund if the HOA didn't approve. No mention of store credit. No caveats. That promise (and my love for those two trees) was the only reason I agreed to move forward and let them hold the trees on my card. HOA said no. I came back expecting a simple resolution... and instead got a full rewrite of reality. Olivia wasn't there, and the staff immediately insisted there was "no way she would've said that." One employee chimed in, "I trained her myself," followed by questions about whether I "saw all the no-refund signs." The manager doubled down with, "I really don't believe she said that." All of this--despite having a witness that was standing next to me who heard the entire conversation. Let's call it what it was: not confusion... gaslighting. After things escalated, the owner came out, seemingly only after I mentioned disputing the charge. She agree to refund me--but not before trying to shush me, telling me to "be quiet or wait outside," and saying, "I'll refund your money and you can go buy your trees elsewhere." Nothing says "family business values" quite like dismissing a paying customer on the way out. The trees were beautiful, no doubt--but their integrity and respect wilted faster than a Texas agave in August. If you shop here, get everything in writing... because their word clearly doesn't take root. Better yet, don't.

Phillip was amazing from the very beginning. He walked me through the entire process step-by-step, took the time to understand my vision, and explained everything in detail in a way that actually made sense. I don't know a ton about landscaping, but he made me feel super comfortable the entire time and gave suggestions that turned out to be perfect for my space. The final design was stunning--colorful, clean, and it completely brought my yard to life for spring. I've had so many neighbors compliment the work already. You can tell they really care about what they do, and Phillip made sure every part of the process felt easy and stress-free. I also found out they have a full garden center too, which I'm definitely planning to check out next! It's so nice to know I have a local place I can go for both plants and professional landscaping. If you're thinking about redoing your yard or just want to add a little life to your outdoor space, I highly recommend Secret Gardens. Great people, beautiful work, and just an all-around awesome experience!

We provided a budget and a few specific design parameters. Philip took some photos and designed the new landscape into the photos and made a presentation. I searched for native landscape architect to design and implement a high end landscape at my home…read morein Historic McKinney and after a number of weeks settled upon Texas Nativescapes. I was immediately impressed by Paul's depth of knowledge and unique experience related to native design which set him apart from the rest of the field in North Texas. Fast forward 10 months and two extensive design implementations later (front and back yards) I couldn't be happier with the results. The results are two of the most uniquely designed & implemented yards in all of DFW. The backyard is completely native southwestern landscaping with rock, cactus and agaves imported from all over Texas, Arizona, and California. In contrast the front is classic southern with original elements picked up in New Orleans and Savannah. In the end the pictures, which I have posted here, speak for themselves. If you are looking for someone to develop and implement a totally unique high end design Paul is your best option in North Texas hands down. His design acumen puts him in a category all his own in North Texas and on par with the best native landscape architects from across the country including places such as Palm Springs, CA and Austin, TX.

First to repair a rock wall that had not been built correctly by a previous contractor and was starting to fall over. Paul and his crew completely disassembled the wall, put in a more solid base and rebuilt the wall the right way. Second, we had Texas Nativescapes fix a drainage and erosion issue that was causing damage to our back fence. Paul and his team removed about 240 sq ft of grass and dirt and replaced with base of decomposed granite and river rock. Both finished projects look great.

He came super unprepared and was using secrete. We watched as he layed some formwork that was very shotty and bad shape. At that point we stopped him. Our contractor stopped payment on a partial payment check he had given and sent him on his way. 3 months later we got a call from our contractor that Tony Brown had waited 90 days and cashed the check that a stop payment had been issued on. Apparently it only protects you for 90 days. Tony knew exactly how many days to wait as though he had done this before. He got money for a job he didn't do and was fired from due to terrible quality work. He is a crook and does bare minimum using cheap materials and methods. He needs to be shut down.

Unfortunately, you cannot give NO stars because that is what I would rate this company/person (Tony…read moreBrown). He did a patio deck and backyard sod for me and at the time the company name was something else. Evidently, he changes the name of his company every couple of years. Probably because he gets so many bad reviews he must. It has been a little over two years and the deck is falling apart and the sod died a few months after he install it. He said his guys tilled and put new soil down before he laid the sod, but they did not. It was during covid, and I watered exactly how he said (being at home every day). The deck is now being torn down because it is falling in everywhere and is an accidental hazard waiting to happen. All the underneath foundation wood is rotting, and the underneath of the top wood is also rotten. This person should find another line of business because he is clearly not good at this one. However, maybe his profession is taking people for their money for worst work and service ever.
