He cancelled our service out the blue randomly with a week's notice, leaving us scrambling to find another pool service company right when the summer hits - so he can avoid having to spend money on chemicals. He cut us off with a single text despite being loyal customers for over 5 years and having openly referred new clients to him. Tino and his crew were good in the beginning. But in recent years, the service and quality of Cervantes has gone down the tubes. One is that he can't keep his workers, so we were getting new workers every week who didn't understand the pool and weren't given any information besides "show up to this address at this time" by Tino. They were not set up to succeed because there was no knowledge handoff explained, they would come, sweep the pool in 5-10 minutes and then leave every week, completely incapable of handling changes in temperature and chemicals. It eventually got so bad in the final years we had to escalate Tino multiple times (who doesn't answer his phone) and the office (who appears to just be his daughter) is always unavailable - so no phone call would ever get through. Tino would begrudgingly then send out someone specialized who could handle the pool to turn it blue after the usual guys had left it green. This was a constant problem in our last 2 years with Cervantes, the constant battle between the unprofessionalism and the poor service rendered by the underpaid workers. When we would finally get a stable blue clean pool, the good worker would just leave a few weeks later and the whole cycle would repeat again. It's not Cervantes / Tino fault that he can't keep his workers. But knowingly sending poor workers to maintain pools, especially those of longtime customers, only fixing the problem when the pool actually deteriorates into a green dirty state, and then constantly nickel-and-diming people over chemicals to drive a buck is shameful. His treatment methods are outdated - he will regularly demand payments on $80 phosphate treatments multiple times a year arguing that the pool cannot be blue without it. In his final years, Cervantes began billing aggressively for random repairs and fixes AFTER THE FACT without any documentation or communication of the problem beforehand, which makes for a frustrating billing experience because you have no idea what you're paying for. We ended up finding out ourselves that the sweep that we had paid ~$200 in miscellaneous unexplained "repairs" for over the past 3 years is actually completely broken and we would have been better off just replacing the sweep entirely for just double the cost. We paid Cervantes all of these without question over the course of 5 years.

Corby, the owner came by and promised to send a quote in 3 days. Fast forward - 3.5 weeks later with multiple emails and phone call follow-up, NO response. We knew they were the right team when they first arrived for an estimate, during which they were very professional and could immediately outline a thorough plan obviously borne of great experience. As the project progressed, they kept us informed about the planned work and the reasoning behind it at every step. When some of the old plaster proved challenging to remove, we were impressed how they returned multiple times with numerous team members, never giving up until the work was complete. Then, they replaced the tiles so beautifully, including with small precisely cut pieces of tile to match odd corners, that it can be described as a work of art! They also found and sealed leaks, rerouted a faulty pipe, followed closely as the pool was refilled to ensure even exposure of the new plaster to water, and returned immediately when a pump unexpectedly jammed through no fault of their own. During the entire process, they took great care to contain any noise and debris. Now our pool is incredible and like new, lined with smooth fresh plaster that is vastly better than before!
