The first group of Uniplex guys that did the emergency clean up/board up were friendly and I thought the board up was done nicely. Then it went downhill from there. We waited months for a permit. We kept asking for an update and were told it was all submitted and permit should be ready any day. The blame was put on the city, so we continued to be patient. Finally one day, I decided to call the city myself and see if I could speed things along. Turns out, the ball was not rolling at all. The city has specific instructions when applying for the permit, the contractor and the engineer they chose (both to blame) did not follow the instructions and never replied to an email from someone in the permit office. So the permit delay was all on them, not the city. When asked about this or any other issue, there was always some elaborate excuse trying to shift blame. They were cutting corners, for example replacing part of the basement wall when insurance had approved full replacement of wall. In an earlier walk through talking about what would be done with our insurance agent and their guy, it was agreed whole basement wall would be replaced but when the work was being done and I saw it was only about half being replaced, I questioned it and they denied ever saying whole wall would be replaced. They didn't even put up plastic to stop the spread of dust from old cinderblocks being sawed into until I asked them about it (after days of dust spreading throughout the home). Then when we had questions about a billing charge, it would be ignored. We brought up errors in the billing and they were unwilling to even discuss it. Our insurance adjuster was kind enough to try and help us by contacting them and mediate a discussion. She should not have had to do that but just shows how difficult they were to work with. 2 stars only because the initial response was good and for the most part stuck to a schedule once the permit was actually submitted properly & approved. However after that, seemed dishonest and shady once we started questioning their work and billing for things that weren't done. I would not recommend them.

Gas line? Hot water recirc? Heated flooring? Large overhangs? Pushing your space to the legal height limits? Balconies, induction stoves, floor to ceiling Anderson doors and spacious windows or open concept living areas? Glass garage doors? Garappa platform decking? Energy recovery ventilator? Electric car charging? Mini split AC? Everything is beautiful, everything works, and we're super happy with the end result. Is it perfect? No. Is anything ever perfect? Also no. Has every inspector or tradesman we've hired made an unsolicited comment on the build quality? Yes. Has that happened to our friends or family? No, definitely not with this unprompted consistency. While we have some settlement problems with the flooring, issues with some appliances, some scraping on the balcony doors, and the drainage pump should have used waterproof wing nuts (also the float valves easily get caught), overall it's a supremely complex 5 story build with stellar results. We're only a year in, so we'll see how it goes, but so far so great.

We were initially recommended to a few contractors that specialized in restoration from leaks but started to feel uncomfortable with the process and like they were all trying to take advantage of us via the insurance claim. A neighborhood Facebook group pointed us to Chermak with consistent reports of them having great service, but also a fair price and staying on time and on budget. I was quickly connected to Angel the project manager and she was able to come out to our house that week for an inspection. She immediately built trust with us and showed a genuine care for wanting to get us back into our home (we had been out already for 3 months). We trusted our gut and quickly got to work with Angel and Chermak and getting the ball rolling on the scope of work to be done and approved by our insurance company. And to risk the obvious pun here, Angel was an Angel, there's no way this would have gone how it did without her, for all that she manages and does she's very efficient and good at her job and really absorbs a lot of the stress and difficulty that is common to this kind of work. She also was very reasonable with us in not upselling, offering suggestions where things could be easier or money better spent, which helped with our trust. Fast forward to the working starting EARLY (which was a good thing) and not only completing on time but even a week EARLY than what was planned, so exciting for us. Kim from the design team helped us get our plans together for the bathrooms to achieve what we really wanted out of them and set the plans in place. Tyler was our GC for the 8 weeks of restoration and I selfishly don't want to tell everyone how good he is because then everyone will want him. We were concerned about having so many people in our home and around our stuff, but he so quickly made us feel comfortable and was adopted into the family. He also really listened to us and understood our wants, needs and particular requests as the bathrooms were constructed, he knew it was important to us things be done the right way and was willing to take the time to see it through. He's also just an all-around good dude and we miss having him here. I've given many referrals since our job wrapped to other prospective clients for Chermak and we intend to hire them again when it's time to remodel our kitchen. Our job was not without any issues but they were determined to do the right thing and see us be happy with the end result, which is a really great experience in this kind of arrangement. RoofWorks did an excellent job on my gutter cleaning and I was not required to be at home. The…read morenext morning it rained and I thought there was a problem with the gutters, but my wife told me is was the rainwater flowing through the gutters. Apparently the last year's service company did not clean the gutters and the water was not flowing. Sam gave me an estimate that was reasonable. Multiple times. The north side of our house was instantly flooded, water coming through the windows that were opened (that was the end of open windows) and the gutter system failed miserably. Roof size / gutter and downspout capacity were not aligned. Nick, one their team members, was onsite and quickly diagnosed the problem to be downspout positioning (one of the two basically useless) and suggested they add a third one. From there it has been months (!) of chasing Kevin and Jeff. Replying to emails was not working and with voicemails that are full and not accepting additional messages, it was quite challenging. After GC stepped in, I was given a quote for gutters screen (an upgrade I requested) and the additional downspout that was needed. After *three* months of chasing them, the first installation date they would offer is three months out. Total of six months!! My expectation that they cover the cost of the downspout that they have failed to install in the right place in the beginning and recommended I add after the fact was flat out rejected. The ugliness of this company came straight out in blaming me for the mistake (the newly found gutter specialist). Then claiming their team member should have never recommended it and that it was not the problem. Going on and on about all of the various reasons it is my responsibility and not theirs. Many thousands of dollars of a project. $150 fix (paid to someone else who did it in ~30 minutes of work). Losing you good name, integrity and reputation like this reflects on the company, leadership and quality of work (or lack thereof) you can expect from RoofWorks Northwest. The images are of the actual one way email communications I had with them for ~3 months. As well as the latest reply I refined. I had two other vendors take a look at the fix, add the gutters screen protectors (additional business) and do the job in les than a week. I'd go with either of them - or many others - before RoofWorks Northwest. They are not worthy of your business and evidently, won't be there for you after.

Denise , their designer, worked through a variety of back and forth changes with us until we finally thought we had a design we really liked. At that point we contracted with them to do the renovation. We are so glad we did. Kris and his team are honest craftsmen and do beautiful work. During demolition a water pipe broke in the powder room, flooding the hardwood floor. Featured Kitchen and Bath replaced the floor at no additional cost to us. We went to Kauai for two weeks, leaving them access to our home. They are very reliable and trustworthy. The job is now done and exceeds our expectations. Featured Kitchen and Bath uses quality subcontractors. Their designs use quality brands and good materials. This is the second remodel Featured Kitchen and Bath have completed for us. A few years ago they designed and remodeled our master bath. We tore the master bath back to bare drywall, re-plumbed the bath and created a beautiful walk in shower. Kris and his team work hard to minimize the impact on the homeowner. We were living in the house the whole time they were working on the master bath. Our lives were interrupted but as minimally as they could make it. We know two other homeowners in our development who have used Featured Kitchen and Bath, both are pleased with their work. He came over same day to survey the job I was requesting which was to tile the backsplash of a powder room bathroom. Jeff provided a quote to install the tile and finish the work of the bathroom including install of vanity, plumbing, sink, mirror, caulking. His quote seemed reasonable. However due to the holidays and budgeting we elected to only have the tile work performed. He was happy to only do the tile work instead of everything he originally quoted us for. According to my partner Zach, Jeff was very professional to speak to and work with throughout the entire process while I was traveling. Jeff even helped out as a bonus and fixed how our carpet met up with the tile bathroom floor that we had installed ourselves but did not take care of the transition between the tile and carpet ourselves properly. When I came home and saw the tile work I immediately knew it was worth the money. Everything was level on the wall. The tile was expertly cut around the plumbing, and the grout lines everywhere were very clean. He cleaned up after himself so well that you wouldn't of known a day before tile was installed.
