The food was really good. The server was polite. We went in around 5:30 pm on Friday for an early dinner. It was a good thing coz in half an hour, the place was slowly filling up. Their serving were quite large. I was even able to take home almost half of my meal. We ordered Bruschetta for starters. It was really good. Check this place out, guys. read more

Obviously, any restaurant with so many reviews doesn't need another one. But here I am anyway, gushing about this place. We're been travelling across Canada, eating every single day at one restaurant or another, hoping against hope that there might be a place that cared about quality and ingredients. I mean, we ate at many restaurants that touted the "Curated by Head Chef bla bla bla" kind of places, if you follow my drift. Not to be a food snob, but you would imagine a place like that might care about these things.. We hit Sudbury in the early afternoon, and my husband has been craving Italian for days. I told him, "You won't find your fresh pasta anywhere here." I was so wrong. Di Gusto had a full parking lot for a reason. We snagged a seat and was treated to the best food (Not just Italian - BEST food) that we've eaten from Vancouver to here - Sudbury. Our waiter John was attentive, excellent about describing the various menu items. We opted for a wood-fired pizza and the house Lasagna. I want to gush about how simple perfect ingredients are the key to a memorable dish. Just the tomato sauce alone brought me right back to Tuscany. And the crisp, perfectly seasoned pizza will be haunting me. The only thing is, we're actually a little happy it's so far away from our home. We'd be here all the time. Pizza and salad were super fresh! Call ahead for cut side pick-up. It doesn't take long for your order to be prepared. The only downside was that our pizza was cold when we received it. We were told about 15 mins for pick-up, which we respected but there were a lot of people ordering that night and waiting in their cars for their order, we warmed our pizza in the microwave and it was fine. read more

After or 7 hr drive we didn't want to eat too heavily so the bruschetta and arugula salad were perfect for sharing. Very flavourful and not heavy. All their pastas, pizzas, and breads are in-house made and although we didn't have any l, it smelled amazing and looked great on other patrons' plates. Passing through Sudbury and the hotel recommended Di Gusto. It did not disappoint! Excellent (and generous) antipasti plate. Delicious Caesar salad with fresh croutons, and main courses of Spaghetti&Meatballs and Carbonara were superb. Also excellent and very friendly service. read more

I had visited this place in the past and it was meh each time (talking years ago though). We were looking for a new place to try for dinner after a play and decided the menu here sounded like it would hit the spot. I'm happy I tried this place again because it redeemed itself many times over. The burrata was new on the menu and is the most amazing cheese ball you'll eat. We've been here a couple times since and pretty much have go-tos on the menu now. Everything sounds so delicious and one day I'll adventure and try something new but the gnocchi alla vodka and pesto chicken penne are currently our top picks. Must try if you're looking for a great dinner place. The service is always the icing on the cake. Tiramisu for dessert is also a must. read more

Never going BACK!!! So here's what happened to my wife and I tonight at di Gusto Restaurant on Regent Street in Sudbury. My wife and I decided this morning while on a mini vacay in Toronto to have our New Year's Eve dinner at this restaurant. Calling the restaurant this morning at 10am, I spoke with a very nice man who took my information, phone number and booked us for a table at 6pm tonight. We left the Embassy Suites, on Dixon, in Toronto feeling rather satisfied that we had made the right decision. There are so many other good restaurants in the Sudbury area yet we decided upon this one. We arrived at the restaurant at 5:55pm and checked in with the hostess at the main entrance. We announced ourselves, she found our reservation, and advised us that it would be about a 5 to 10 minute wait. I joined my wife in waiting on the pew by the "Fill the Cradle" display and observed other patrons who had made reservations get called for their tables. I then observed two women come into the restaurant who approached the hostess station and spoke directly with who I will call "the tall woman" as she appeared to either be the owner or a supervisor. These two WALK INS were asked if they had reservations to which they replied "No, we tried this afternoon, but couldn't make any". The young hostess advised them that there would be a wait. Just then, the tall woman inquired to what was going on and the 2 WALK INS advised her of their predicament. She countered with "you will be on a FIRST COME FIRST SERVED list but the wait for a table could be anywhere from 25 to 45 minutes". The 2 women then sat on the other pew and began their wait. I told my wife to watch what is going to happen next as I knew exactly what was to happen. About 4 minutes later the tall woman came back and spoke with the other hostesses and then told the 2 waiting WALK INS that their table was READY. Knowing full well what had just occurred and the fact that I am an Indigenous person and treated many times like a second class citizen, I calmly approached the hostess station to speak to the tall woman. I said "I called this morning at 10am and made reservations for my wife and I and arrived here at 5:55pm and was told I would be seated promptly within 5 to 10 minutes. Those 2 woman just walked in here without reservations and have now been seated before my wife and I who made RESERVATIONS this morning. What in the world do you think you are doing?" The tall woman was at a loss for words, knowing full well what she had just done and getting caught for doing it. She mumbled and stuttered for the words but couldn't find anything. I went back to sit down with my wife who was furious as was I. I did try to contain my expletives as best I could as there were people around. Finally, after waiting for 15 minutes to be seated, the tall woman called my name. My wife and I followed and were seated whilst the tall woman quipped off, "Have a nice night". Being Indigenous is hard, yet what is harder for me to grasp is the true ignorance some people demonstrate towards others while attempting to satisfy their white privilege counterparts at our expense, time and embarrassment. Di Gusto, you should be ashamed of yourself. You must strive for better understanding of your restaurant patrons, revise your reservation policy (and enforce it) and treat the Indigenous people of this great country with a little bit more respect. Can't say enough about this place. It is real, authentic Italian dishes. I had the pasta, and the portion was very large considering the price. I happily took the rest home. It was very busy when we went, however our waitress was great! Best pasta we've ever had!!! Definitely check this place out. read more

I went there for lunch and was really impressed with the quality of the food they had there. I knew they had great reviews but I wasn't expecting their food to be as good as it was. I love this place! All the pasta is made in house fresh, the food is amazing and the service is great. We have eaten here twice and each time I have never been disappointed. The deserts are great too, they have homemade tiramisu. This is now one of our favourite stops in Sudbury. read more

I visited this place with a friend to catch up with a glass of wine and a good meal. I was not dissapointed. Good wine selection, the wait staff was great, good atmosphere, even though it was a little loud, people had to yell at eachother to have a conversation. I visited this restaurant for the first time tonight and I had been looking forward to it for quite awhile. The menu had me inspired, but unfortunately that stopped there. I dined with one other guest. We went for 530pm on a Saturday, so the fact that we had to wait for a table didn't bother us. The service was mediocre with little interaction with the server. The food came quickly, so that is why the review is a 2 star. The prices were a little much to say the least. The pesto penne was flavourless and somewhat warm. The portion size was generous; however, nothing makes up for bland food. Due to the fact that it was busy and there was a line waiting out the door when we left, we felt really rushed. Food: overall good food, have tried several appetizers and pizzas. Spaghetti and meatball dish was tasteless and meatballs didn't taste good at all. Desert: would have liked to try there homemade donuts but they do not sell them anymore, tiramisu is great! Atmosphere: esthetically pleasing decor and layout. Low ceilings and open space creates a very loud environment. Especially when people bring their loud children and crying babies which ruins the experience. read more

Fantastic Wood Fired Oven Pizza! Nice thin crust with great sauce & toppings - nice Italian atmosphere...will go again.

Excellent pizza and salad and some of the best tirimisu and cheesecake I have ever encountered. I highly recommend this place as they make everything from scratch and they have an awesome custom made pizza oven that cooks to perfection. The pizza chefs who are really awesome are Michael, Tyler, Jonah and they allow you to watch them create masterful pizza and they'll answer questions and make suggestions. Nick and Julie are awesome and amazing servers. The new pizza chefs are anti social and only socialize with their bros and really just suck but other than that it's a great experience read more

The staff was awesome, food was great, however, the noise level in the restaurant is ridiculous. Children are screaming constantly and it ruins the experience every time we come. After coming here multiple times, I suggest people who come to have a nice quiet meal that this isn't the place to come. Dining with a party of five. We placed our orders and the drinks arrived well after the appetisers. My four friends meals arrived and I was assured mine would arrive shortly. After being assured one more time that my meal was coming I began glaring angrily towards the kitchen for ten full minutes until someone who looked like a manager noticed I was without a meal and went to sort it out. In the interim I was given what looked like left over bread bits as a consolation. They were stale. My meal finally came and I was informed it would be free. This is the only reason I'm giving this review two stars instead of one. My friend and I were drinking beer and were never once asked if we wanted another, despite our glasses being empty for half the meal. Finally at the end of the meal the bills were mixed up and one of the salads from the other side of the table ended up on our bill. I've been here a few times before but I believe this will be my last. The prices are way too high to warrant such terrible service. read more

Tasty, but unremarkable. Had arancini, beef ravioli & linguine with clams; spinach dip, during lunch. Peasant food, really, but didn't feel it justified the almost $70 we paid. Included 1 beer. The whole place smelled of burning wood (wood pizza ovens) & the smell permeated into the restroom. Noticed our hair and clothing smelled long after leaving the restaurant so don't go for lunch if you have to go back to work. read more

I really wanted to love this place because it is a local business, but I can't seem to justify giving it more than 3 stars. The interior design is lovely-- very rustic and inviting. I went for lunch on a weekday so I didn't experience a noise issue like others. Our food came out very quickly and our server was nice enough, but I didn't find the food quality that great. My Margherita pizza lacked cheese and my friend's pasta had SO much more sauce than noodles, it was kind of like a soup. Things tasted alright, but not authentically Italian at all (I am entirely Italian in cultural background and most of my family was born in Italy), which has kind of been their branding. I also requested to have the remaining slices of my pizza wrapped up, and the server took my plate away only to return with simply our bills. I assumed it was being wrapped up by someone else and would come out, but after I paid, our server disappeared. I couldn't even find her again to ask what happened. I feel a bad giving this place 3 stars, especially after the owner came around during our lunch to check in and was very kind, but I always strive to be honest. Ordered take-out as they were one of few restaurants open on Labour day aside from fast food. My delicious veggie pizza on wood-fired thin crust was ready within 15 minutes and priced similarly to Toppers/Domino's! The tiramisu was also very tasty. The restaurant interior is also quite nice, I would definitely go back to eat-in when I get the chance! Another plus is that they accept Amex. read more
