I do not believe Michael Ottati and his office knows what they are doing. I waited a year to write this review, and also because I was having trouble with the pair of lens that I bought from his office. His prescription was not adequate for my eyes, and I believe he intentionally prescribed me a prescription that was too strong for my eyes! I was literally having headaches after headaches looking through my glasses lens to the point that I had to constantly wear the contact lens prescription which he prescribed (which I think was the only thing he did not screw up on)! He also has this machine that he charges an extra $50 and up, just to check the retinal of the eyes. I went to a competitor to get my eyes checked and the "retinal machine" was free of charge at their competitor! Do not come here unless you want a screwed up pair of glasses! read more

My daughter had a scheduled appointment and while I was waiting for her appointment I realized that I had missed my appointment. The ladies scheduled me right then and there. The office is always so clean and well organized, they also have a great selection of frames. Parking is never an issue and the appointments are usually very quick. The now offer a free beverage while you're waiting. I would highly recommend anyone who needs an optometrist to visit this office with Dr. Ottati or Dr. Tjoe they explain everything very well and the ladies take care of you and help you choose a great frame that works for your budget and face! read more

As a teacher, I have always had VSP insurance and have gone to this practice since it was Visendi and Mook in the nineties. No more. My last visit included none of the standard tests for eye health--glaucoma,etc--so I asked if recommendations had changed. No, I was informed that it just "wasn't worth it anymore " to give a full exam for VSP patients. I was not told in advance that I would be given inadequate care, so my insurance coverage for the year was wasted by Dr. Ottati. Firemen, teachers and other public servants need to go elsewhere. read more

I am very upset at this place especially at the front desk women there. They don't have any courtesy, they always have a bad attitude. There is a person named Debby and Sandra they were so rude and was not helpful at all, she wants to solve everything with a bad attitude and the customer service skills were so bad, she needs more training. I called VSP because the Prescription I received was not adequate and I had to return my prescription glasses. They called with rudeness and attitude and were basically saying that everything was my fault for not bringing those glasses for them to check she then said that "Doctor so and so, never had the wrong prescription." read more

I have been going to Dr Ottati for several years. I feel I have received excellent care not only for opthomology care but for medical care for injury to my eye on several occasions. The office staff is great. They frequently readjust my glasses, which I am very grateful for. They are pleasant, patient, and very helpful. read more

I normally do not post reviews and if I do they are not negative. However, it has been very frustrating in getting my eye glasses from this company. In addition to getting eye glasses as well for my daughter and my wife. My first experience was with my glasses and they took over 5 weeks to get my glasses back in Jan. 2020. I let it go and thought it was the mfg. My wife and daughter ordered their glasses on June 15, 2020 and just now got them on Sept. 22, 2020, 3 months later! Staff is very friendly and apologetic. They also do an amazing job finding the right frames that you like the best. However, it takes forever to get your glasses. read more

My husband and I have been going to this optometric office for over 30 years. We started when doctor Otatti's father-in-law owned and ran the practice. 23 years ago Dr. Michael Otatti, took over the practice and we continued with him. In 2017 we retired and managed to find a group for retirees that would be accepted by Michael Otatti's practice. Yesterday, 1 day prior to my scheduled appointment, I received a call from Dr. Ottati's office stating that they had chosen to opt out of our carrier. They would no longer be able to accept our coverage. If I came in for my appointment I would have to pay at time of service... but, they would give me a 30% discount...Great way to treat loyal long-standing customers. I am so disappointed and disheartened by this experience.. It's bad enough that once retired it's very difficult to find coverage equal to the working class for eye and dental care, not to mention the extreme cost. Less coverage for more money. Anyway big shout out to Dr. Otari! Way to treat long-standing loyal customers... yeah, I know, it's just business. read more

I wanted to replace my glasses but didn't have a specific style in mind which with all the different options can seem like a daunting task. The employees helped me pick out a bunch of options when they saw what style I was thinking and we're so patient with me to find the style that I wanted. Definitely recommend! read more

I love this place. My husband and I found Michael's Optometry about a year after we moved to Oakley and they have been amazing ever since. The front desk staff (Liz and Teresa) are always attentive, helpful, and friendly. The doctor knows what he's doing and the selection of glasses and contacts are plentiful. I had my eyes checked there in July 2020. My glasses were never right. I had to go back 7 times and they still never got my glasses right. They rechecked my prescription twice. Twice my lenses came back wrong from their lab. We've even tried changing the lenses and frames and still they weren't right. In February of 2021 my Husband had gone back in with me and we tried one more time to get it right. 2 weeks later when I went to get the new glasses again they still weren't right. Finally, I said that I'm done and wanted a refund. The staff said that the doctor would need to issue the refund the following Tuesday. That didn't happen. I still had to make two more calls to get my refund. And when I finally got it yesterday 3/22/21, the check wasn't completely filled out. If this Doctor can't even fill out a check, don't trust him to fill out a proper prescription! read more

I mostly leave reviews when I have positive experiences at businesses, but this place left a bad taste in my mouth. The front desk women weren't very inviting when I walked in, I felt like I walked in somewhere I shouldn't have been. They offered me a $40 dollar eye exam that isn't covered through my insurance, so that "my eyes didn't have to be dilated." I declined that exam, yet they still didn't need to dilate my eyes. Essentially, I would have gotten the same exam whether I paid the $40 or not. After my exam, the ladies asked if I was ready to look at lenses. I told them I order my glasses online, but they insisted as "I get a free pair with my insurance, and doesn't work for online orders!" After 20 minutes of looking at frames and going over pricing, I learned that it's just a discounted price, not a free pair of glasses. I ended up paying $200 for my "free" pair of glasses when I could have stuck with my $95 online order.... as paying full price online was still cheaper than my insurance covered "free pair." I'm all for making your business thrive, just be genuine with your upselling methods. My two stars are purely for the experience. The doctor himself was very punctual, efficient, and friendly. read more

I was referred to this business by my health insurance. I called to schedule an appointment for my family. We had two days set up because my family is large (makes sense). When my insurance info was pulled up by the receptionist who helped me, she said everything was good and she would see us at our appointment. My husband gets to the appt and was a bit upset because he was told that there was a $40 fee. That bothered me because I was told we were good and was never told about the feeling when the appt was made. (Problem #1) So only one person from my family could be seen because he was not prepared to make a payment. The business called my husband (later the next week) asking for payment. He told them he would pay that Friday. Then I get a call asking for payment. Why would they call me if my husband already told them when he would pay. (Problem #2) My 2nd appt is approaching. I didn't get a reminder for the appointment (which I thought was odd) but I knew when it was. I walk in and give my name (because she called me by another name that wasn't mine). Come to find out my appointment was canceled because the payment that was supposed to be paid hadn't been paid and I wasn't notified. The receptionist said she called both phones and left a message. I have 2 businesses and I check my voicemail DAILY and had NO messages from this business on MY phone. I pulled out my card to pay for the fee that was unpaid. She tells me it is $45, not $40. (Problem #3) So now I'm livid. Then she asked me if I wanted to reschedule! Um, no. So, if you are looking for an optometrist I would NOT recommend this place. Hands down! read more

I tried just about every optometric group in antioch. they always seemed to get my perscription wrong. dr. otati is very patient and takes his time to make sure you get the right perscription. dr. otatis staff are so friendly like you have known them forever. they make it a fun experience while helping you find the frames that look right on you. i tell everyone to go here :) read more
