The first time that I saw my Mom with her new glasses I was taken aback because in all of my years I had never before seen her with glasses that were the perfect size and shape for her head and face. Not only were they perfectly fitted to her face and head, they were stylish and they complimented her face beautifully. She's a petite woman, and it always looked to me like her glasses were made for someone of larger stature, so whoever helped her select her glasses actually took the time to get her into the right size as well as the right shape of glasses for her, and this was the first time since she started wearing glasses that this has happened! So of course I had to see this place for myself. The folks who work the front desk are the sweetest and most professional group of people. We were treated with genuine care, dignity, and kindness with all of our interactions. We saw Dr Scott Sakata. From beginning to end he was informative, attentive, and he patiently listened and thoroughly answered our questions. He even explained the same things in different ways and slowed down for my Mom, and this made her feel heard and understood. I also liked the fact that he didn't press her towards any interventions, instead, he gave her the realistic scenario for her sight situation and what I found to be a compassionate approach for her going forward. I had come in a bit vigilant about how they might charge for services because of other reviews I had read, but I found the pricing to be clearly explained to us. I think it's a matter of communication, really, and we had no troubles in that area with Delta Vista Optometry, in fact, they wanted us to understand everything. This is a well established Optometry office that uses advanced analysis as well as the most current tools to help the community see better. They offer a broad variety of glasses frames to choose from and there's something for every price point. They even have a nice selection for children! Review from my husband. My New patient experience was HORRIBLE. I have good insurance and they asked me to pay $400 out of pocket without explaining any of the fees whatsoever. I paid thinking I'd be reimbursed for partial fees after they billed my insurance. My appt was at 3p the day prior, my wife called the very next day to request an itemized statement, they refused to work with her even though she is the policy holder and was NOT asking for any medical information about my appointment, she simply informed them that we would like to fill the Rx at Costco and asked to cancel the order. The same day, I called to request the itemized statement and after realizing they were charging 1,600.00 for one pair of eye glasses, I asked to cancel the eyeglass order but they refused, stating the lab was already working on the glasses. They continued to refuse to work with us on anything. Please be aware and ASK for an itemized statement prior to agreeing with their extraordinary fees! I will NEVER come back or recommend this practice. Staff are RUDE and they do not care about their patients. We also contacted our insurance company. read more

Well, I think the doctors are great. I think they're very nice. Very informative. But the front desk is horrible. I have four family members, including myself that go to this place to have exams by contacts and eyeglasses. But today had me thinking otherwise from buying from them because of the front desk. I called for my prescription and they wouldn't give it to me. They said I had to come pick it up. They couldn't email it and they claim the hippa law Which states I can request my prescription over the phone and they can email it to me, they said they can only mail it or I have to pick it up personally. So there's a couple of things either they're doing it because the doctors or the owner told him that's the way to do it which is not right because I feel that they're just forcing us to buy their glasses by law. They're supposed to give you that prescription. So I have to think about this a little bit more but I may be going somewhere else. I love the doctors, but I'm not gonna try to get screwed by having to buy their merchandise when I can buy it from somewhere else possibly cheaper not that I looked but now I will. I know it's a competitive market out there, but they should be upfront with their patients. I believe if they were more, patient would not be looking at this as a negative. Well the visit went well nothing to bad but I have been having double vision at night time and headaches, balance issues. So basically the progressive line is to high on my glasses this is why my eyes are a bit worse. I have went back twice maybe a year in a half ago cause the glasses weren't right. AMAZING DOCTOR, AWFUL STAFF. My experience would have been downright horrible if it was not for the only professional and seemingly warm-blooded human in the office-the doctor. Dr. Sakata was fantastic, so much so that I did not have the heart to bring up the negative experiences of the visit. It was not until I came home and talked about the visit that it clicked to me to write a review. First, I want to mention that as I was walking to the entrance, I overheard two people who had just left saying "she was so abrasive".. a moment of foreshadowing. The staff (front desk especially) are unfriendly, rude, and make you feel as if you are an inconvenience! The worst of all was the gentleman who was running the tests. The moment that stands out the most is when I had asked a simple question about what the test was measuring and in the snarkiest way possible he told me that his job "is only to conduct the test, not explain it". Well.. geez.. sorry for asking to know more about the purpose of what I, THE PATIENT, IS DOING in the office!!!? I understand that doctors interpret the results, and that is NOT at all what I was asking from the individual who is CLEARLY not the doctor. To this gentleman: you should not be working in healthcare if this is your attitude and manner. If a patient is asking a question about something YOU ARE ASKING THEM TO DO, you should be able to tell them what the general purpose of the test is, no matter how long or short you have been working the job. I heard him talking on the phone while I was leaving the office, presumably to another patient, with a terrible attitude. Even when I was browsing glasses, I felt so uncomfortable because this staff makes you feel like you are just taking up precious space and making their job harder, when really their job is to help you. Although the primary component of the visit was great (the doctor), the rest of the experience was dreadful and I would not come again and would not recommend this place. read more

Once you do get ahold of them, you get Claudia, the last person who should be in customer service. I brought my kid in for their first eye exam, who is on the spectrum and was very nervous, but was treated with such care and patience that the nerves were barely there at the end. Dr. Darnell is a fantastic, patient, and truly personable optometrist. She took the time to make the experience comfortable which is something we don't take for granted. Probably one of the worst Optometry experiences I've ever had. Typically for a normal Optometry appointment I'm in and out within 45 minutes to an hour. As I sit here and type this I've been here for nearly two hours, and there appears to be no end in sight. It appears that this office may overbook patients and just had them sit around for a couple hours. The doctor herself was very nice and informative. The remainder of the staff however was not very friendly. They did keep trying to sell me on their products after repeatedly telling them no thank you. Everything here seems to be overpriced, gauging both the insurance and the patient. Over the last 10 years I have gotten an annual eye exam. This was the first time I've ever been charged for it. They advised that my insurance would not cover the imaging, which was fine by me I was okay with paying for this which was 59 dollars. But then they charged me another 80 dollars for a contact lens consultation and fitting. I didn't request a consultation or a fitting, I've been wearing contacts for a decade I know what to expect. I didn't need a fitting and they did not do a fitting but proceeded to charge me for it regardless. The office appears nice the doctor is very nice but the overall experience was negative for me. They charge you for things that other optometrist office will not charge you for. The staff is not friendly. The cost of glasses/contacts here is much higher than any other office I've been to in the Bay Area. read more
