I recently had my roof replaced due to hailstorm damage. The roofer did a great job, except for a nail getting through to hit an electrical cord that resulted in power going off to two bedrooms. Fortunately, Jamie from Dial One came over and he fixed the problem. He showed great patience in tracking down the problem. He was very methodical and persevered until he found the site of the nail penetration - it was all the way back in a corner of the attic. He then resolved the issue and made sure our power was working. I would definitely reccomend him highly. read more

The rudest service (Jonathan) actually hung up on me and I thought we got cut off -- called him right back and he answered with " call your own electrician and don't ever call me again" It's day after Christmas -- and from beginning he did not want to come. Initially -- told me to call City. Then a list of questions- I got answers and called him back. Then it was we should wait -cheaper tomorrow. I told him we have an electrician we normally use -- which apparently pissed him off & he hung up on me yelling "call YOUR electrician "- click. I wasn't exactly sure what he said so I called back thinking we got cut off. He answered yelling " DONT CALL ME EVER AGAIN ON THIS NUMBER" click Soooo - we own 20 rentals in Austin and will tell everyone we do business with to NEVER use Dial One Electrical. They were pretty quick to come by and do the work, which was fine. The low rating is because they were not honest. I asked to be given an estimate and he said it was going to be "this amount". When they were done, he said " oh it's actually going to cost more". Then he said it was so much for the first half hour and plus that much per hour plus the taxes, his helper fees and more. Honesty is the best way and I dislike that they lied/were not upfront about the price. I do not recommend them for being dishonest about how(much) they charge. read more

The first was to deal with an overloaded switch (thanks to the previous homeowner who loved to DIY but didn't quite DI- correctly). Excellent service, even better response time!. I had a pressing issue with two GFCIs on the outside of my house, and both were causing serious problems with other outlets in line behind them. I called on a Tuesday at 3p , and a tech was at my house the next morning, on-time, as scheduled. He was knowledgeable and honest, in an area where many homeowners lack knowledge...often we are dependent upon what the expert's say, and that can often translate into a very expensive bill. While no two problems are alike, in my case the tech was in and out in a couple of hours. Everything works great; disaster avoided, and the bill was very reasonable (under $240). They got the job done. Their job estimating practices are VERY misleading though. I was quoted a $120 an hour while on the phone with them setting up an appointment. They were here 2.5 hours. They charged an extra $120 for the "first half hour" in addition to the regular hourly fee that I was quoted on the telephone. I used this business several years ago and was very happy with the cost and the service. This time...nope! I would not recommend them because of this. read more

They came out to install a light fixture on our second story which required two electricians. They were very professional and nice. I'm giving two stars because they did not tell me on the phone or in person that there would be a $100 charge to rent a scaffold from them. Part of the reason we hired them was because we were under the impression that they had one. The main electrician was very, very nice BUT he did chat a little too much when I'm paying $120-$180 per hour. Efficiency is best in those situations. They were also a little slow (having to go out to their truck multiple times and just a little slow overall) and it ended up taking three hours to install so a $580 bill for installing one fixture. Kind of wishing I would have come here to yelp before hiring! read more

Your employees Cody and Eloy have just left my home after installing two light fixtures, and I wanted to immediately write and commend to you their work ethic, personable demeanors, and willingness to think outside the box on a job that proved a little challenging. We had two simple fixtures to install, but one was in a 19-foot ceiling--fairly straightforward except for the height--and the second directly over a second-story staircase. The second fixture seemed nearly impossible to safely get to, but Cody and Eloy persisted in trying a number of different and creative ladder placements until they figured out how to safely reach the fixture. I am certain a lot of other installers would have given it up as impossible long before Eloy and Cody did, and none would have twisted into the uncomfortable position Eloy had to assume to get the fixture in place. Throughout, both men were considerate of my home and my aesthetic preferences. Cody and Eloy are a credit to Dial One, and the reasons I will use your company in the future for all my electrical needs. Thank you for the excellent service. read more

SUBSTANDARD COMPANY!!! I am a realtor who utilizes service companies frequently. I have used many electricians in the past and this service company is by far the worst. The electrician lacked basic knowledge. He was unable to resolve the problem. He stayed for 2 hours and charged $228 dollars and did not correct the shortage. I would stay FAR AWAY from this company. They are expensive, inexperienced and over subpar. Many other service companies in the area that provide better service. They may answer the call quickly but you are better off waiting for a qualified provider. read more

Where to start. When a tree fell across the backyard and took out the power lines and yanked a giant hole in the electrical box it was an emergency. My parents are in their late 70s and depend on power for their health. The city was giving us the run-around and it was getting later in the day. I posted a 911 distress message on Facebook and one of my fellow Yelpers recommended Dial One. I can't tell you what a great job they did. They not only arrived on time, but they worked with the city for an expedited permit and they even, get this, called at 8:30 at night to make sure the city followed up on their work. When I got off work to check on the folks the power was on and the last of the city guys were packing up. When I was calling around to get a quote from various electricians, Dial One was, by far, more responsive than anyone else we called. We had them replace the main panel in a house built in 1960, as well as ground some outlets and install GFIs. With each appointment, everyone arrived promptly and all of the employees were friendly and pleasant. The work was done well and the price came in under the estimate. The electricians were good about cleaning up after they were done and were very respectful of our belongings and property. They gave me an appointment window of 8-12 to run some electric at my home this morning. Unfortunately my phone was on silent this morning, but I have been at the residence at question. I got a call from them saying they need to reschedule because I didn't answer my phone. They claimed they were trying to reach me since 8am. That wasn't true as the first call was 8:32. They quickly rescheduled me by 8:45 instead of coming to the property as expected. When I booked the appointment they NEVER said you must answer your phone that morning and we won't even come by. I've had other trades out where they just show up and never call. They already sent the electrical to another job. Considering my property is literally down the road from their office this is pretty lame. read more

I'm in the same boat as Felipe G. their technician goes out to an address and tells the customer that he cant find anything wrong with his service but will change out the breaker, because the customer isnt paying for it... our company who had a tv cable installation done there and the customer complaints that the tech ruined his electricity... REALLY?? I asked the company to bill the customer and they insist on harrassing me for payment, because they told that customer not to worry about it.. someone else was paying for it.. They charged us for 2 hours of BS and a breaker for almost $300.00 for no problem found.... STAY AWAY !!! read more

The first time I used Dial One was to replace a ceiling fan in our office. They sent two electricians who were on time, very personable, and did a great job. I called them again when we were remodeling the office and the electrician our decorator recommended bailed halfway through the job. TERRIBLE!!!!! They were the fastest to respond to my email inquiry for a fairly decent sized job. The guy they sent out quoted about $576 for the job and I gave the go ahead. The scheduler, Tracy (I think it was) called to set the work date and left a message that it would be the following week, about 7 days out and for me to call back to confirm. I called back and Tracy was not there but the fellow I spoke with confirmed the Thursday first call appointment. We even discussed how since they're right down the road from my house that they should get to my home by 8:30am. On Thursday around 9am, after having taken time off work to be home, I decide to call them to find out if they are running behind. Tracy informs me I never called back to confirm; I told her I did and she very nonchalantly stated, "well he didn't tell me". She then said the earliest they could reschedule the job was for 3 days later. I just told her to cancel the job. I was astounded at her nonchalant attitude, not even any offer to try and check with one of their tech's whether they might break free to do even part of the job. Any responsible, courteous, customer caring company would have at least tried that, or offered some sort of discount on the proposed bid. If they have a Don't Care attitude before the work is even started, imagine how shoddy the actual work must be. read more

I've called multiple electricians this year to get an outside light fixed at my house. For different reasons, they failed to call me back or show up at the agreed times. When I called Dial One, I did not have high expectations... but I couldn't have been more wrong! The dispatcher was so polite, and followed up exactly as she communicated. Worst business EVER!! The electrician,Tom, came out and worked as slow as possible clearly knowing he was getting paid by the 1/2 hour. I did more of the work than he did but I think it would have taken him even longer if I hadn't done it. He then came back and tried to charge us for an hour of work that wasn't done. When I called his office to question this charge and they agreed to take it off, he then tried to charge me 30% in taxes. (Yes, $33 in taxes on $100 charge). When I questioned him on this, he stormed out of my office. I just called the office and spoke to the manager, Eric, who told me this is a master electrician who has been with them for years. I don't think my phone conversation with their manager is going to make one bit of difference. The electrician even told our office coordinator he could have told us the day before that we needed a new transformer and charged us $400. So, he actually thinks about telling customers they need to repair expensive things that don't need to be repaired. He acted like he had done us a favor by not lying to us the day before. Pretty crooked practice to me. read more
