Nice sunny day with sprinklers running.

Ka Lā and I enjoy our visits to the park very much. I know the volunteers are working hard but the sprinkler system is still a mess and the park entrance is difficult for kupuna like me

This place is great! - Double gate entry keeps everyone safe. - Bags available (don't pretend you didn't see your dog go... we ALL saw. Now clean it up!!) - Nice big foot operated dog drinking fountain We were here on a Monday afternoon, there were 10-14 dogs. All friendly, nice owners. There are toys all over for the dogs.

I only briefly was able to enjoy this park because my poochie was not so nice. We're trying to socialize him and it seemed like a safe place (all enclosed) but I think it was too much for my dog (seeing other dogs and being unleashed) and he became aggressive towards a bigger dog. We left but hopefully can return when he is better adjusted. There are rules like any enclosed dog park, lots of dog bags and people seemed genuinely friendly. Parking is pretty much across the street on DH side. We warned that although parking is for dog park users and Red Cross, I saw tourists parking there to go to DH.

There's simply nothing bad to say about this wonderful dog park! Quintessentially local, it mixes the island vibe with the free-spirited, unadulterated fun of dogs at play. A huge space, there can be tons of dogs present with no congestion - everyone can have their own area to run, smell, and play. Our dog Max loved the cool breezes and the doggie water fountain... as well as chasing after the birds who also like to hang out there. Definitely a great way to burn some energy and spend some quality time with your pup.

Best dog park on the island. Healthy grass, benches, and shady tree area. Most people are really good about picking up after their dogs too. It's volunteer run so if you go, don't forget to do your part and take care of the space! I heard someone sells doggie ice cream on Friday afternoons here too, but we haven't made it out on a Friday yet

    Gamja had so much fun!

Finally found a dog park open during the lockdown! One of the nicer dog parks I've been to. Very spacious and clean. Only thing is there is no separater for big and small dog. My puppy had so much fun and didn't want to leave. Will come back for sure :)

My big dogs and their owner LOVES this park!! Wide open spaces, lots of shade and benches AND a water source for a quick doggie drink. Plus tiny waste baggies and serviced trash cans where responsible owners can pick up after their pups. This is a off-leash park where dogs can learn to pack socialize and run. My only comment is there is no place for tiny dogs or puppies as some big dogs play hard and rough.

My cousin and I are always looking for things to do with our puppies. They are active and love to play. We're very particular about where we take them and how clean places are and this place is pretty clean. It's fairly clean considering this is a dog park. Very open and lots of room for the doggies to run around. All the dog owners we have encountered here are very good about picking up their dog waste and watching their dogs. Another good thing is they have a few sprinklers running to keep the dogs cool while they play. If you forgot dog toys don't worry there's plenty here. There is plenty of shade and benches for the pet parents to hang out and sit while the dogs play. The only down side to this park is they have the sprinklers running quite a bit so the dirty can get kind of muddy. Over all we like this dog park and will keep coming back here.

Lucky for me, I have a trusty "exercise machine" - my Golden Retriever "Makana" and we've been doing several miles of walks wherever it may take us. Recently I discovered a new park within the Kahala neighborhood called - "Hunakai Park" located of course on Hunakai Street (Duh! Lol!). This small neighborhood park really reminds me of the neighborhood park Makana & I normally like to go to - (Kalaepohaku Park). Hunakai Park is clean and well kept. There is large rocks/boulders surrounded around the outside perimeter of the park, I guess it's to keep anyone from driving on the beautiful green grass? There is no private parking lot for this park, but finding parking is not an issue here, as there is a lot of street parking available. A few things I found kinda weird about this park - 1. I noticed there were no trash cans, benches, or picnic tables at this park, but I guess since it's a private park..........maybe there is nobody around that can regularly maintain it? 2. There was no jungle gym for kids to play on, but again, since it's a private park.........maybe liability issues just in case someone gets hurt? One this that this park did have, was a sand pit at one end of the park, and I guess the pit could be used for "beach volleyball", but I did not see any volleyball net set up. Overall, it's just a nice open field park with some trees.........good for bringing doggies here so you can let them run around. :D

We visit Oahu every year but we're usually relaxing at the beach and not really doing touristy things. Ayyy...But the son and DIL were interested in visiting DH, so I made a reservation. First time going online to make a reservation. Back in the day you just got there early, parked, and walked up. LOL Made a reservation online for 7 people and it was $45 which included parking. Little did I know we would end up not renting a car, so we Ubered from our hotel. If I would have known three days ahead of time, I could have received a refund. But alas, I did not. Oh well. The kiddos all hiked up to the top with the adults and did a great job. One of the kiddos was a little cranky having to avoid people and pull over next to the rocks to let people pass, but she survived and quit complaining once we offered a shaved iced once we were back at the trail head. #highlyrecommend

I drove up to the guard shack, showed my ID and was able to park in the open lot. I recommend carpooling as parking is limited. I hadn't hiked Diamond Head in 10 years, so I forgot how strenuous it can be. I wore comfortable athletic sneakers, a large sun hat and brought a 24 oz water bottle with me. There's little to no shade for most of the hike. Certain parts of the hike are steep and uneven. Definitely take your time and don't feel rushed. There's enough room for people to go around you, if needed. I saw some elementary kids zip past me, so even younger kids can do it. There is a steep stairwell and a dark tunnel that leads to the top. Once I got to the lookout, it was so crowded. It was hard to take photos and gather with my friends. I felt so claustrophobic. After that, I climbed back down. When I got to the end of the hike, I went to the gift shop kiosk. There's a bunch of Sanrio exclusive merch that I picked up for my friends. I thought that was the best reward for my hike.

This community park has a special place in my heart as I spent many hours here playing basketball, tennis, & baseball/softball. Kapaolono has a very large field, great for baseball & softball. Two tennis courts, & two basketball courts. They also have a swimming pool here, but I've never had a chance to use it. A few things I noticed about myself when I got back on the basketball court - 1. I noticed I had a little trouble dribbling the basketball, due to the neuropathy in my fingers. 2. I can still shoot the ball pretty well. 8 out of 10 on the freethrow line ain't too bad for an old fart like me. Lol! 3. Man, I am out of shape! If young kids asked me to join in on a pick-up game, I'd probably have to pass to prevent a heart-attack! Lol! 4. There are cracks on the basketball court, but at least the cracks are not craters!
