BG's Boathouse Restaurant - Fried Clams and Shrimp

He had the baked and that looked great - flaky inside and solid dry crust on the outside. The fries tasted as good as they looked. Our third companion had the clam strips. Although I am a big belly clam only guy, I tried the strips and they were extremely flavorful. I actually enjoyed a clam strip for the first time in my life. It should be noted that the coleslaw was a 10. We pulled up by boat. There are two Restaraunt only dock spots within a short walk of the restaurant, probably 50 feet. The service was excellent. Everyone was extremely friendly. We sat at the bar because there were no outside "in the sun" tables available. There were quite a few and is was busy but the food came out before we finished our first drink. The two bartenders were awesome. There was a lot of banter going on between my group, the bartenders and basically every other customer seated. All in all excellent and worth a trip.

To begin the lady at the front had zero personality. She sat us at a table nearly on top of an 8 top. The server was great, however we did sit for at least 8 minutes before being greeted. I am in the industry and it would have been nice if the hostess brought over at least water and said your server will be right with you. She seemed more interested in putting chairs up and shutting windows as to get ready to close. Then what I really had an issue with is no vegetables offering as a side and you can't substitute corn on the cob for fries. $4.99 for an ear of corn is absurd. So basically your only "free" sides are baked or fries. Great scenery and decent service once she was able to come over to us but I would definitely not go back and wouldn't recommend. The server said we don't offer many substitutions. I has asked if I could get the side of scallops broiled over fried and was told no. I have been in this industry for 25 years and making your customers happy should be the number one goal and this place definitely did not deliver. Not sure how they have been in business for over 40 years.

Hurricane Restaurant - Baked stuffed lobster!

Some shopping and a few bits along the way. We weren't completely full for dinner but wanted the party to go on. I snagged a reservation at Hurricane and we were seated shortly after getting a round of drinks from the bar. My wife had her go to cocktail "A slightly Dirty Martini" while I opted for the citrusy Hemingway. Once seated we poured over the menu and couldn't make up our minds but our server was awesome. We weren't rushed and each passing visit continued the conversation with her about our trip, our day, our experience, and Kennebunkport content in general. At long last we simply decided to get two rounds of fresh oysters that were to absolutely die for as our meal. The snacking had taken its toll or my wife would have annihilated a 2 lb Maine Lobster on her own. I had some local Maine craft beers to go with the light fare and had to order the "Affogato" for desert. It simply called my name. The Hurricane offered a great atmosphere that was still somewhat hopping shortly before the clock suggested it was closing time. As we exited and walked over to our hotel for the last night before heading home, we found the usually crowded streets of the sea town barren and that offered some time for reflection on a great evening that was had by all.

Our waitress Seanna was the best waitress I've experienced in a very long time. I'm a NYer and my dining experience bar is high. Well she nailed it. Plus the Manager accommodated us as I was 1/2 hour early and she sat us in a quiet area of a very loud restaurant. Again, no complaints about the food, but the service was exceptional!
