I have been going to this nail salon for a few years with no issues . The owners are very nice . The last time I was in around a month ago the lady that did my nails did a horrible job . Nails came off in less than a week . I got tips and a dip . I also asked her to fix something and she snapped at me . Well there are too many nail salons to get treated like that . Ugh, I hate leaving bad reviews but here I am. This is a nail salon that tells you they can get you in, when you call ahead, then puts you in the pedicure jail for 30 minutes. I'd much prefer that they just say they can't fit you in. Who knows how long I would have waited but I left after 30 minutes in the pedicure water. Water is always cold when they prep for your pedi... and it takes a while to get someone to actually pay attention so they can add some hot water. The "spa" pedi is nice, but the massage part is underwhelming. Polish application is usually ok, but they tend to leave some on your skin. Just not very friendly employees, tend not to speak English in front of you and aren't very happy when you use a credit card to pay. We only go here as a last resort when our other favorite places are backed up. read more

As soon as i sat down i asked they guy who was doing my nails (i don't know his name because i was too disappointed to even ask for his name) and so, i asked for all black nails and one nail white, with a playboy bunny on it. (same on the other hand) AND THIS IS WHAT THEY GAVE ME! not to mention, he kept messing the design up on my right hand, so i told him to do something simpler. like half white, half black. AND THEN COULD'NT EVEN MAKE A STRAIGHT SIMPLE LINE! I paid 45 for these nails. (i gave him the tik because he asked if i wanted to pay before he does my nails. and i was in a hurry so i said yes. which i completely regret)the shape looks disgusting. (i ended up painting over them because i hated my nails so much) Also, a week later one of my nails broke while i was sleeping. i woke up without a nail. and during school they broke out of nowhere, without me even knowing. I always get acrylic, and they always last me at least 3 weeks. not only did they do a horrible job on the design, they also did a horrible job on the acrylics. i don't recommend this place at all! read more

By the way I've never been told to pay before my service is done .. weird right.. plus I feel like she was too fast finishing a FULL SET . This is a local nail salon for me, I used to go to a different salon but I prefer this one better. Sometimes it gets pretty busy and you have to wait a bit but normally they are pretty quick about it.I like to go on the slower days when people are at work. Anyway, I always get great service and it seems personalized to me. I get the deluxe pedicure and it comes with everything you need, it even comes with hot wax that feels amazing and it's not too pricey. I think is was 40/45$ but it comes with ALOT. Everyone is so friendly and they actually try to get to know you. I also get a full set here with the no chip polish and they have a bunch of colors to choose from. This is by far my favorite place and everyone does great work, I don't ask for anyone specific because I've never had a bad experience. read more

Didn't like this place. 1: I went in to get an acrylic full set. The lady who was doing my nails didn't clean my cuticle at all, I asked her if she could clean them but insisted that the lotion will "get rid" of the skin hanging off. 2: I had a really bad vibe once I walked into the salon. and 3: I just went here on Saturday and now my nails are already falling off and lifting Wouldn't recommend going here, I wasted $45. read more

Diamond nails give the best pedicures! I always upgrade to the spa pedicure for an additional $10 and it is most definitely worth it. The ladies take their time with giving massages and painting your nails. Massage chairs give a nice full back massage when placed on the knead setting. They keep the salon and also the tools they use very clean. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could... I tried reaching out to the business directly but both the online contact us form and email address listed do not work. After calling and dealing with a very rude employee who refused to even tell me when the owner/manager would be in so I could address my issue, I decided to just write a review and warn others. I came here Friday September 13 to get an SNS manicure. After showing the technician a picture of the design I wanted, she said ok, retrieved the colors and started the process of taking off my old SNS manicure. After she had removed half of the polish, she told me she could not do designs. The picture I showed her had designs on two fingers. I expressed that if she would have told me that beforehand I would have kept my original polish but I let her continue and just decided to let it go. However, as of Thursday (less than a week later!!!), I had 3 broken nails and polish that was chipped on 3 nails, and cracking on almost all of them. I think this is unacceptable for less than a week and I want a full refund to make this right as I had to get them done again after only a week and my SNS normally lasts for months. I was visiting from out of town and do not live in Elgin, but even if I did, I do not believe I would want to come back and risk more of my nails being broken by improper techniques and/or subpar materials. read more

Heck no, never again. I wish I could've came to read reviews first before coming here. The guy sitting in front was very nice. The nail tech was beyond rude. When I asked about paying with a credit card, she got extremely mad about it. I got a regular manicure, they kept pushing the no chip on me. She told me my manicure won't last if I don't do a no chip. She didn't put a base coat on. She made a mess. I did a french. There's still white in the middle of my nails and it's on the skin next to my nails as well. I went to dry my nails. I wasn't ready to leave yet because I felt like my thumbs weren't dry. Another lady rushed me out by telling me my nails were dry without feeling.them. I told her my nails didn't feel dry. She touched one and told me they were dry. I just left. She felt bad for rushing me out but I was already so mad. I'll stick with my regular place next time. read more

I really like going to Diamond Nails and Spa- I feel like they do a really nice job (I've had no chip manicures and pedicures, and spa pedicures here as well- no acrylics). I'm sure some would complain because the employees speak to one another in their first languages, but that never bothers me- I speak in my first language all of the time myself. The prices are very reasonable (my spa pedicure with the sea salt and mask was $35) and they are fairly speedy. Sometimes I can get frustrated because if you make an appointment you don't necessarily get priority over walk ins- but I've never felt the service was too slow. My entire bridal party had their nails done here for the wedding- and everyone seemed pleased. read more

Staff is not very friendly. Pedicure water was cold and they barely exfoliate. I had to ask that he give my feet more attention. Polish was fine. Manicure was HORRIBLE, the top coat was clearly old and stringy but she continued. by the time I got home it had visibly bubbled. Their drying station is awful, they do not have the appropriate bulbs to dry nails affectively. I would not recommend. read more

My dude came in to buy me a gift certificate for our anniversary. He asked them the cost for a no chip/gel polish, French Tip, basic manicure/basic pedicure. They told him $80. So he bought the gift certificate for me. I came in to redeem in with an appointment set. I set it for a basic pedicure/basic manicure, no chip gel polish, French tip polish. First, they tried to pressure me into a more expensive pedicure. Yea... Not interested. I don't want hot stones. Then the nail tech doing the pedicure was telling me about the Halloween party they were throwing and invited me. That's cool, I appreciate customer appreciation. But when I say, I cannot make it, and I'm asked why I can't, well that's rude and to personal. It's because I can't. Period. The pedicure was decent and polish was good. But then she turned me over to a guy for my manicure. My no chip manicure chipped about 4 days later and the edges started to peel about the same time. And when I went to pay... The total cost? $96. The cost difference? Never really got to the bottom of it. It might have been the polish style/French tip. It might have just been a rip off at the counter. I also learned that Cindy and Dan no longer own it... Which might explain some of the negative changes. Either way.... I had been going here since 2011. I will not going back. read more

Recently moved back to Elgin and was in need of a new local go to spot. So many shops to choose from surprisingly, based on prior reviews and distance to my house I choose Diamond. Boy am I glad I did!! Great vibe and fantastic customer service, I had Kathy and she was great. Will definitely be my new salon of choice!? NEW OWNERS!!! I haven't had any nail services in almost a year. That said I like this location and haven't ever had a bad experience plus it's close to home. I called on a Tuesday, was given an appt within 45 min. I always call because I hate waiting. I discovered upon arrival 3 young Asian women, not the usual couple who opened the location. They were very friendly. There were two other patrons in the salon. I asked for a no-chip pedicure. The water in the mini tub was HOT, they adjusted it to a perfect temp. The young lady that did my toes did a GREAT job! She wasn't too aggressive with the exfoliating, did a great job cleaning up the nails and cuticles and gave a really nice massage to my legs and feet with a rich, lovely smelling lotion. They have a huge color selection for no chip, the price was $45 for the no-chip pedi, I did not "upgrade", and I was there for about 45 minutes. There wasn't any polish on my skin anywhere. They did offer to do a no chip mani, but I didn't have time. I will definitely go back, the service is still very good and reasonably priced. I pay in cash so I don't know their credit card preferences. The new owners are very nice, I would recommend! Oh, they told me the previous owners moved to Texas. read more

Disappointed! I just left Diamond Nails having paid for a Spa Pedicure. Water was barely warm. Massage was underwhelming and brief. A few quick, light, swipes with a pumice stone (microplane file was not used) - this was my first pedicure of the season and you can visibly see that more exfoliation was needed. Polish looks OK but I wouldn't be surprised if it chips within the first week. I have been a customer there for a few years and I have always had decent service (some visits were better than others). Today, there was only one face there that I recognized so maybe they changed owners. I have a few gift certificates to use for Diamond Nails and unless things improve, I'm not sure I'll be back after I use them. So disappointing because I was really looking forward to some pampering. read more

I made an appointment yesterday an hr in advance for a fullset...got to the salon..still waited 15 minutes because the lady decided to take the walk ins before me...then she finally got to me. Showed the lady a picture of what i went and who knows why she did a different shaped tipped nails. Then she asked if i wanted gel or acrylic, so i asked the prices. She said 45 for gel and 25 for regular. I told her regular. She then glued the tips of my nails then went to do someones eyebrows in the middle of the service. Took about 10 minutes and i was so pissed. She came back, finished my nails, but right before she did the polish she said she was gonna charge me 30 for the set. I told her i didnt know that and she didnt say amything about the extra charge. I was beyond pissed at this point. I think the nail techs need to be more attentive to the appointment people..they seemed to care more about walk ins. That was the case at the place i went to, at least. Absolutely LOVE this place!! I'll start off by saying I'm quite picky when it comes to my nails..I've had a couple different girls do mine and I've been super happy with it each time. I alternate every week with either a polish change or fill in. Tonight I came in at 7:20 (they close at 8) with my sister and 3 year old niece. We didn't feel rushed one bit and they were super sweet and patient painting my nieces hands and toes. My sister got a pedi and a no chip mani. Wow......this place is unbelievably unprofessional! My daughter and I came here at 11:05 last Saturday and asked to get two mani/pedis. By the way, this was a first time for a pedicure for my almost 13 year old and she was excited! The lady told us to pick a color and told us to sit in the pedi chairs. I had already sat down and started soaking for a few minutes when 10 minutes later a woman came in with two other ladies and said that she had an appointment for 7 people at 11:00am. She was almost 20 minutes late for her appointment and her full party of 7 wasn't there yet. The lady that was going to do my pedicure told me that I would have to get up and come back later because their appointment was there. Seriously??? My feet were soaking and she didn't offer me a towel or anything as she stared at me to get out of the chair. OMG, I was FLOORED! What would she have done if she had one foot done and not the other? I have been going to Diamond Nails for over a year now. I used to go to a nail salon across the street, but found Diamond has been more consistent in the quality of job they do no matter who does your nails. They are not too pushy with trying to oversell other menu items. I once called to find out what time they closed and they said 8pm and asked what time I may come. I told them I might cut it close like 7:45 and they said I could still come in. I got there at 7:50, and I found the owners (husband and wife) and their kids there. I felt so bad saying I would come a different day, but they said they were waiting for me and that it was no problem. They did not rush, made me feel comfortable, and did such a nice job. I had no chip nails done and they lasted over a month! I really appreciate the care they took, especially as owners, which is reflected in the quality of service and staff. Dan and Cindy opened their shop in late 2011 and I have been extremely satisified with the services I have received on the several occasions I have been there. Dan does an excellent pink & white fill, Cindy is super for pedicures and waxing. The shop is extremely clean, bright and well decorated.
