Breakfast and service was just ok. Nothing to get excited about. I'm hoping that their lunch and dinner is better.

This is a great place to eat in Buxton, NC. Friendly staff, excellent food and service. I recommend the stuffed grouper.

We ate at this restaurant two years ago, so we decided to go back this year. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We were disappointed that it took our food over 1.5 hours to arrive and we attributed this to the kitchen/sushi bar inability to keep up. Everyone that ordered sushi was very pleased. My husband and I got the fresh catch tuna and the tuna steak was a huge disappointment. It was clearly frozen and NOT fresh although all of the local fish markets are selling fresh/local tuna here currently. Fresh seafood, all was delicious! Glad we stopped in on a whim. Tomato basil crab bisque was really tasty.

The outside doesn't impress but the food does. We sat at the bar - our bartender was really friendly and helpful with food recommendations. So yes - the chowder is a must. The fish is also a must as it is fresh and well prepared. We think it's the best restaurant in the area. read more

Went here on a recommendation from an employee of our rental broker. She said the sushi was good. Me and my wife and daughter shared the tempura shrimp and the "special" roll which consisted of crispy rice, jalapeño, and tuna. It was fantastic. It was difficult to believe that a seafood restaurant can produce such delicious sushi. Try it, you'll love it. We also had the popcorn shrimp. Thumbs up on the seafood, too. Service was excellent. We had breakfast there yesterday and enjoyed our meal. The coffee was rich and delicious. The sausage links were hearty and nicely seasoned. The bill for two was around $28, a little higher than I'd usually pay for breakfast but, hey, it's an island and things are tough these days, so we didn't mind. Our server was adequate, if not terribly attentive or personable. Next time, we'll try their chowder, for which they seem to have an excellent reputation. read more

We went with a group of 11. We should have called ahead because the seating is limited for big parties, but we were hungry so we decided to sit at separate tables near each other. The portions of food were very substantial, and the salad bar had a lot of choices. I was the only vegan in the group, but I ate plenty of fries, which were delicious. Arrived a little confused is it a family restaurant or sushi joint. Well it's both. First off we were immediately sat and given a comment card to fill out and drop in a box when we leave. We had a total of 4 people in our group 3 adults and one 4 year old. We ordered at 12:30 our food arrived 45 mins later. We had a kids grilled cheese two hamburgers and a grouper sandwich and it took 45 mins. The other complaint there were a disturbing amount of flies in the restaurant. Very disappointed. read more

During the power outage Diamond Shoals was one of the few places open and the only one we could find serving food. We were delighted that the food was fantastic and although we didn't plan on eating out much on this trip, this place was a gem. We came back for breakfast during the power outage. There was quite a line but they handled the crowd well and still offered great service and delicious food. The manager was great, she put a smile on my face. We will be back! read more

We went in Sunday afternoon thinking we were having sushi, unfortunately they didn't have sushi for lunch. Understandable, the hostess was gracious and explained why so we sat and had lunch off the menu. Our waitress was very nice and funny. My boyfriend had the tuna wrap which disappeared pretty quickly I had the fried grouper sandwich with onion rings. Priced right and delicious! The art on the walls was pretty cool too read more

The food was pretty good but the service was horrible. My waitress didn't give me silverware, or any sauces to go with my fried seafood. I had to walk to the bar and ask for them myself. We ate several meals from Diamond Shoals when we were on the Outer Banks last week. We loved loved loved the clam chowder, but everything was good. We only got carry out as there was no place to eat outside. Inside, we were disappointed that the staff was not masked. Seems like an easy way to make customers feel more confident. read more

Great sushi! However be warned to only go after 5pm when they START serving sushi and not on Sunday when they do not serve sushi! The service is horrible before 5pm and take note to sit at the sushi bar where the service is better. The other items in the menu are over priced and not good compared to other local restaurants and fresh seafood pickup places. read more

Dinner was pretty good. Had the shrimp and scallop dinner and the Mrs had crabcakes. A little pricey for what we got but the seafood was fresh and not overcooked. I rarely eat fried food bc people usually way over cook it into a rubbery mess. They did a good job, the scallops and shrimp were nice and tender... not overdone. A tad too much salt for my taste and the coleslaw was clearly out of a bucket and not homemade. Excellent green beans. I did think a salad bar was a bit out of place during a pandemic. Too bad they don't have the Oyster because of hurricane Dorian. The clam chowder is truly an award winning! It has the right thickness (not too watery and not too chunky. Tasty and you can taste the fresh clam. I also ordered the clam strip which was just fine. They have very good french fries and hush puppies too. The service was quick and efficient and the dining area is clean. I will go back when in this area (not really much choices around here) read more

We loved this restaurant! Stopped here after a climb at the Hatteras Lighthouse. We had a 2year old and 11 year old and both found food they loved. I was very happy with the salad bar and loved the clam chowder. My mother in law said the tuna melt was fantastic! We would definitely visit again. read more

We came into Buxton knowing little about the area, and our motel was in walking distance of the restaurant. This was our favorite meal. The crab, shrimp and grouper were all fresh and delicious and the staff were all very warm and welcoming. A big shout out to our server Brooke. Being a server is one of the toughest jobs out there, because you can be yelled at, whistled at, and still have to maintain your professionalism with a smile. This is a review for breakfast only. The food was marginal at best. My omelet (ribeye) was over cooked. Rubbery egg, chewy steak. My husband's seafood omelet was bland - and thought the seafood was not really as fresh as it should have been for a place with an adjoining seafood market. My daughter's hot cakes kind of tasted like they sat under a heat lap for a while. Her plate was SUPER hot and the cakes were kind of soggy on the bottom. Service was friendly. Though I was asked 10 times (no seriously, after 2 or 3 times in a minute we started counting) if I wanted more coffee by 3 different servers. It was funny until I couldn't take a bit of food or have a conversation because we were constantly interrupted. When we went to pay, the woman at the register tried to charge us 10 dollars more than our check indicated. My husband pointed it out and she just shook her head and took the exact change he had ready. We won't be quick to go back, though we have had worse experiences. read more
