Even though I did not have laser eye surgery here, I feel that Diamond Vision deserves an overall good review because of their consultant Brad Botelho. I had a free consultation here months ago. Brad was friendly, guided me through the preliminary tests, and answered all my questions thoroughly. I felt that he was very easy to talk to, and he seemed so informative that I was surprised and disappointed that he wasn't my surgeon! That's the one big downside with Diamond Vision; you do not meet the surgeon during your consultation like other places. However, based on information from a previous review, I could understand that with their lower prices and higher patient volume, that meeting every single consulting patient would just eat up the surgeon's time. I also want to point out that Brad at Diamond was professional, courteous, and so gracious after I decided not to have laser eye surgery there. Because he was open with me, I was open with him; I told him my opinions of the other laser eye surgery places in hopes it will help him. I recommended Diamond Vision to a friend who was interested in laser eye surgery because of Brad, and now I recommend to anyone looking on Yelp. If you don't mind not seeing the surgeon (who I hear is excellent anyway) and price is a big deciding factor, give Diamond Vision a try and I hope you see Brad. read more

As a follow up on the previous review I left for Diamond Vision. Like I said earlier, my initial appointment reservation was messed up and left me with a bad feeling. However, Dr. Stetson reached out to me directly and in a week time I have met him in person. He did everything possible to make me feel comfortable with the surgery and he answered all of my million questions. When you meet him personally, you have no more concerns that you are in good hands! It took almost two month for me before I could go for a surgery because of my eyes condition. I was amazed how easy the surgery itself went. My husband could see the entire process from the waiting room. He did a stop watch from the moment I walked in there. The whole procedure took exactly 10 min, most of this time is just a preparation. Dr. Stetson and his assistant guide you through the process, you always know what to expect next, what you will feel next. For a paranoid person like myself, it was priceless. My first few hours after surgery were bad. Apparently, my eyes are oversensitive (I couldn't even wear contacts before). I felt the pain, stinging, burning, like something bothering. I didn't take strong painkillers, as I didn't want to cause a damage unconsciously and rub my eyes. In five hours all the pain was gone, only uncomfortable feeling was left and I could finally go to sleep. When I woke up, I saw a different world! On a follow up appointment that day Dr. Stetson personally checked how the flap is doing and if there was any swelling. Everything was perfect! My vision was 15/20 on the day after surgery. Two days ago I had one week follow up appointment, the vision 15/20 was confirmed! And I didn't feel anything uncomfortable on 5th day after the surgery! Also what I liked about Diamond Vision is their emergency help line. I run out of antibiotic drops on Sunday late afternoon(too many drops went on my cheeks, now t in my eyes) , the doctor on call was so helpful, we found a pharmacy near me, she called them and spent a good amount of time to make sure I get my drops. So I would recommend this clinic to anyone. I actually already did to few of my friends. My advice for everyone: follow all instructions from the doctor carefully, don't over do the drops in the eyes :-), and make sure you have a reliable person with you on a day of surgery to stay for the night. You don't know how you will feel after it. You will need someone to bring you food, water, tea. I wasn't able to fall asleep for few hours(sleeping is highly recommended), I just stayed in bed with closed eyes, so if it wasn't for my husband, it could be very tough. read more

I wanted to wait a couple of months before posting my review, I got my procedure done in May and am happy to report that I am loving my new vision! I was a bit anxious about getting this procedure done, you have all these thoughts in your mind about going blind even though statistically there is a very low percentage of that occurring via lasik. However, I don't regret my decision to get it done here. I got off to a rocky start. They do a lot of surgeries here, I mean A LOT. When I went to get a consultation at other offices, Diamond performs at least 5-6x more than the other places I consulted with and those other places cost a lot more for the same procedure. I guess that can be both good and bad. The good is that you know that Dr. Stetson has a lot of experience with this procedure, but the bad is that it can feel impersonal since they have so many people coming through to get their surgery. At first this impersonal environment with all of the other staff that I interacted with left me feeling really anxious the day of my surgery, I actually started to freak out and broke down in tears. I had second thoughts about getting it done and almost backed out. Almost... Dr. Stetson came in and talked to me and went over all of my concerns and worries. He was very caring actually and extremely patient. I was the last patient of the day and my freakout caused me to be an hour or more pass my surgery time. Dr. Stetson gave me the option to think about it so more and come back or if i wanted to continue he and his staff would stay. He even let me take some more time there to think about it. And I decided to just go through with it Dr. Stetson and all of his staff stayed after their scheduled hours to get me through my surgery and made sure I was comfortable. He talked me through the entire procedure and his staff were all so kind to me. It made me feel silly for having any doubts in the first place. I have no complaints with my vision and am glad Dr. Stetson stayed past work hours to let me get my surgery or else I may still be fiddling with contacts and glasses today. read more

I started my lasik experience just a few weeks ago. I was recommended by two people who had gone to diamond vision years back. My experience with diamond vision was nothing less than amazing. The entire process from getting an appointment to a consult then to the surgery to post op was great. The staff was so helpful, kind, and friendly. The consult was very informative with Kristian and he answered all my questions. At the pre op, they did a bunch of tests to make sure I was a candidate. The surgery itself went very well and I had 20/20 vision right after. I unfortunately suffered from corneal inflammation the day after the surgery, it was not a result of anything that was done by anyone, just the way my body healed. It was a very stressful situation, but when I tell you they did everything to have my best interest at hand! Dr. Amy stein was a lifesaver! She took such good care of me, seeing me every single day post op to make sure they were doing everything they can to take a hold of the situation. After 5/6 days post op and being in the best hands, my eyes are finally doing amazing. I can't stress enough how glad I am that I went to diamond vision. My vision has been 20/20 throughout and the inflammation is gone. I couldn't have asked for better service than what I received from diamond vision. The past two weeks they became my family taking such good care of me from Sophie at the front desk to Dr Amy Stein and Dr. Stetson. They were so friendly and helpful. I received PRK Surgery here in 2007 that was about $2300 and it was a great outcome. 12 years Later After calling them today and being advised that the $499 Price Per Eye Refresher Surgery I was offered back then was now, "Due to New Management" was up to $1000 per eye, shows me that they do not value prior customers and the business they brought to their establishment... I really loved my doctor (Dr. Coad) and his assistant (Christine) so that helped make this a positive experience. I had my vision corrected at Diamond Vision about a month ago and my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner! I have to admit I was pretty scared of having laser eye surgery, but the doctors and staff at Diamond Vision were incredible. They made the process quick, easy, and painless. Dr. Stetson (the surgeon) was friendly, accommodating and caring. Generally, everything you would want a surgeon to be when they're going to be working on your eyes. He sat with me for about 5-10 minutes before I went into the operating room and explained everything to me, any side effects that might occur after surgery, and answered all the questions I had. I appreciated having that one on one time with the surgeon who was performing my procedure. As soon as I went into the operating room, and laid on the chair, he numbed my eyes. I did not feel A THING during the procedure! It literally took 5 minutes. When it was over and I sat up from the operating chair I could already see WAY better than I ever did before, this blew my mind! I had PRK and was scared because everyone that has had the surgery told me it may be painful and uncomfortable... to my surprise I did not experience ANY pain, not the day of, not the day after, not 3 days after. I can now see 20/20. I don't have to scramble around in the morning to find my glasses, or worry about wearing my contact lenses when I go on vacation. THINK TWICE! This is a cautionary tale - particularly if you are far-sighted / have astigmatism, as I imagine most of the happy reports are from people that were originally near-sighted. Think twice if you are in the same boat as me... After doing all the necessary research, I originally went in for a lasik consultation back in summer 2009. I was told I was a perfect candidate and I signed up for lasik on both eyes, opting - and paying extra - for the unlimited touch-up option (just on the off-chance that *something* didn't go exactly right). Pretty quickly after lasik, my eyes recovered and I no longer required glasses for reading as I had before. However, my middle and far distance in my left (dominant) eye now seemed a little blurry, when before they were sharp. I went back several times for follow-up appointments and expressed this repeatedly - and was told that I should wait a while longer to ensure that vision in my left eye had stabilized. During this time, the vision in my left eye further deteriorated somewhat - and I now required glasses in the interim to comfortably work with a computer (which I do for my profession). Eventually, it was agreed and I had a touch-up surgery done in summer 2010 - but immediately after, it was clear that it had not fixed the issue - and if anything, had made it worse - with my left eye now more blurry. I mentioned this at several follow-up appointments and was yet again told to hold off to ensure that the eye had stabilized. During this period of time I visited an independent optician to get a second opinion - and he informed me that my left eye, instead of being far-sighted (as originally) or corrected (as hoped for) - was now NEAR-sighted, and yes, I also had astigmatism, as identified by Diamond Vision. As a result, I now needed to change my glasses prescription to suit my now near-sighted left eye. Finally by early 2011 the doctor again acknowledged that my eye had deteriorated after the touch-up surgery and we talked about a third procedure on the left eye - at which I hesitated (having not got it right the first two times - and in fact made it worse). I was told to come back in a month. I made the follow-up appointment and was greeted by a new doctor. She went back to the original "wait-and-see" approach (which I was growing tired of) and on the way out, I was informed by the receptionist that by the way, I would now have to start paying for future appointments. Apparently the "unlimited touch-ups" option does not include the unlimited consultations necessary to address the event that they mess up your eyesight. I have not been back since. So, to summarize: * Paid full-price for lasik after being assured I was a good candidate (I now wonder *was* I such a good candidate?) * Paid additional up-front fee for unlimited touch-ups - but was cut off after one touch-up and asked to pay for visits beyond a particular point * Right eye is now fine, but left (dominant) eye is now near-sighted, and blurred for middle and far distance * Have had to get two glasses prescriptions since having both lasik procedures * Am out of pocket a substantial amount, left with worse eyesight than when I started and am still wearing glasses I am not suggesting that this was systematic on their part - but I feel hard done by on account of the above - and would suggest anyone think twice - as you only hear of the (admittedly many) success stories - but these, as said at the top - are all usually with near-sighted people. read more

I made an appt for Diplopia (double vision) problem. I go in the exam room and right away they started talking about lasik, i said i am not here for lasik. the examiner looked surprised , he resumes taking my eye exams and then i see the doctor. Amy Stein. She seems like she has a nervous condition , very hyper, asking question at 100mph. i could have went to lenscrafters for all she did. in the end i had to ask why was i having double vision. She said i needed new glasses, hands me an eyeglass Rx and says ' take care". What a waste of money and time. Don't go here. Receptionists are incompetant also. Didnt even know how to work the ipad for my insurance information entry. I def would go to more reputable place for lasik if i needed it. Not here!! read more

Customer Service 5/5 Results 5/5 -It's been exactly a week since my procedure -I went to check out other LASIK specialists but ultimately chose Diamond Vision based on experiences from friends and friends of friends, all of whom had very positive experiences and results -My work schedule is not very flexible but DV's hours were relatively accommodating -The staff was for the most part super friendly, especially Igor, Kenneth, and Chris -Dr. Stetson was very open, forth-coming, and made me feel at ease about the procedure; he went over the details of all the tests I had done and explained what I could expect in the coming days/months -The other doctors (mostly seen for consults and post-op follow ups) were very professional and friendly -Mins after the procedure, my left eye hurt a bit and both my eyes would not stop tearing; numbing drops in the left eye took the pain away but the drops lasted about 15 mins -I kept my eyes closed as instructed for the remainder of the day -The next morning, my vision was intermittently hazy when I tried to read things far away but for the most part, my vision was the same as when I wore contacts; the pain was gone in my left eye and replaced by the sensation that I had an eye lash in my left eye; all discomfort was gone by post-op day 2 -Sensitivity to light persisted and was gone by POD3 Thank you to Dr. Stetson and the Diamond Vision Team.. you guys rock. read more

I recently (surgery yesterday, 11/22/13) had CustomVue LASIK done on both eyes at the hands of Dr. Stetson and his amazing staff. At no point did anyone suggest or even mention that I should submit reviews online; but I had such an amazing experience that I had to post and try to provide as honest an account of my experience as possible. Before my surgery, I was moderately nearsighted and had been since middle-school, with negative 2.50 diopters in each eye. I had progressed like most people from glasses to contacts during college, but since starting my full-time job in finance, the long-hours staring at a computer screen resulted in my going back to wearing glasses full-time. From my initial pre-operative exam (I skipped the consultation because most of the research is readily available online, and I knew that I wanted the procedure done), I knew that Diamond Vision was where I wanted to have my surgery done. The whole staff, including Michelle, Chris, Elias and Dr. Stetson all were exemplars of professionalism and care. I never got the feeling that of anyone being pushy or impatient, and always had my questions answered to a point where I felt comfortable proceeding. My initial visit saw that I had some dry-eyes, which I received a mixture of prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines and drops to treat. The regimen worked flawlessly, and I was cleared for surgery the following week. Coming into the offices on the day of surgery, I was obviously a little nervous, but the little things that the staff did to make me more comfortable gave me great comfort in the procedure that I was about to have. Michelle took a last look at my eyes and re-confirmed that the dryness had cleared up (even though I had had a check-up for the same the previous day), which continued to impress me with the quality of the care. Prior to the surgery, in the pre-surgical waiting room, Chris and Dr. Stetson took turns comforting the patients "on-deck", with a combination of talking about their own experiences and successes having the procedure done, as well discussing with an effortless depth of knowledge about the science behind the ablation process and patient-specific corneal mapping (I learned some pretty cool facts about my own eyes, including corneal strength, pupil size etc). Chris was especially fantastic at calming the nervous patients down (I remember we got to talking about his video-game hardware collection hobby!), and before I knew it, it was my turn. Your experience will vary depending on the procedure, of course, but Dr. Stetson and his supporting team did everything they could to ease my concerns. Starting with when I stepped into the operation room and laid down on the chair and all the way through the Intralase flap creation and the actual LASIK sequence, Dr. Stetson's team offered the perfect balance of gentle instruction, and calming commentary on which exact step of the process I was on, and what sensations and feelings I should expect so that I never felt worried or surprised by all of the unique sensory experiences that I was experiencing. Writing this one-day later after my post-op initial exam confirmed that I'm already seeing better than 20/20, I'm already extremely satisfied with the procedure, and of course, the team at Diamond Vision. I will definitely be recommending the procedure and the team at Diamond Vision to all my colleagues (I've already started getting requests for where I got it done and how it was!). The only areas of improvement that I could suggest (which are all very minor): the waiting times are a little longer than the time of your appointment, given the volume of patients that Diamond Vision seas, but that's true pretty much of any healthcare provider, and the team works very hard to take care of everyone. For example, I was the last patient during the Friday surgery block, and the whole team stayed late to clear through the backlog, and I noticed no signs of impatience at all (they were all extremely nice). A second suggestion would be to streamline the paperwork (in terms of pre-op and post-op care that you get); there's already an extremely informative set of materials that you get, but maybe removing some of the overlapping materials and adding more information on the pre-operative drug schedule (i.e. getting off of Lotemax starting the Durezol and antibiotic drops the day-of surgery) would be great, for people like myself that took bad notes when we were given the directions over the phone. Again, I want to repeat that this was an unsolicited review; I wanted to tell my story and help add to the body of reviews available so that YOU can make an informed decision about what's right for your situation. Horrible service. Doctors have an attitude. I booked my annual check up and asked for a contact prescription on top of my regular glasses RX. I was told in the appointment that they don't offer that service. What ophthalmologist doesn't prescribe or have the skill to give you a contact prescription?! They make you come back for no reason (so they can justify charging your insurance another visit?). Finally, I called the front desk months after my visit to have my glasses RX emailed to me. All the receptionist has to do is pull it up, check its validity and email it to me. She said she has to "consult" with the doctor first and then will get back to me later that day. Really??? Come on. She hung up on me without saying goodbye and NEVER called me again or emailed me anything. Don't go there. A total waste of time and money. Office is cramped and depressing neon light. I have been puting off laser eye surgery for more than 15 years. My wife has been telling me to get it done for the last couple. I have been wearing glasses for over 25 years and contacts for almost as long. I have never been happy with either. We both saw a Groupon for half off the surgery and that pretty much pushed me to finally decide to get this done. They could not have been nicer to work with. They really make you feel comfortable. They explained several times that I wil still need reading glasses because of my age, over 40 and my eyes. Well I am just over 2 months post_op and can read without glasses but not for long periods of time. I an using drugstore glasses until my eyes stabilize more. Thought I posted this 3 years ago. I went to Diamond Vision several weeks ago and I feel like I could talk for pages about my experience and how glad I am to have made the decision. I also feel like I could fill a whole page with all the reasons I did not want glasses anymore. I was terrified at the idea of laser surgery and so never considered it until I hit a breaking point with my glasses. I wore my contacts one day which I couldn't do too often due to irritation, and by the end of the day I wanted to take my eyeballs out. Instead I just took my contacts out and put my glasses back on, and was reminded of the initial fishbowl effect (I had a very strong prescription) and also the buildup of small scratches and minor dirt on my glasses which degraded my vision. At that moment I decided that somehow I had to figure out doing laser eye surgery. I found out that one of my friends had gone to Diamond Vision and I asked him about it and he had nothing but great things to say about the experience and result. So I decided to take one step forward and go for a free consultation, at which point I was pretty much sold on the idea and decided I wouldn't think about the "scary" idea of surgery on my eyes, but took about a month for me to get the funds together. I went for my pre-operation appointment, had all my questions answered and fears addressed. Everyone there was great to work with and you do not feel like you are being "sold" something, you feel like they care and you are getting the straight facts. Then a week later I had my surgery. The surgery itself is super fast. Was I scared throughout the procedure? Yes. But it was fine, they direct you through the whole thing and you just focus on the light and the fact that you are about to have super-vision. Let's talk about the super vision. It's now several weeks later, my eyes have healed beautifully and I am enjoying life without glasses. I was in a staff meeting where I work and I saw a bug crawling on the floor from across the room, toward another staff member. I got up from where I was sitting, went over and smashed the bug with my shoe and then sat back down as if nothing happened. It was funny, but I realized right away that I couldn't believe I could see the bug from across the room, and when I got up close to it, I realized it was only as big as my pinky fingernail. I wake up in the morning and I can see. I can see in the shower. It is a beautiful thing. If you want to do it and are scared, I would just go for the consultation and then don't think about the surgery, just show up and follow their directions. You will be fine. Be warned - they did 3 surgeries on my eyes because they screwed up the first time. I now have permanent damage to my left eye. The last time I went there for a followup I was told by the head surgeon that there was nothing they could do for me and she couldn't imagine why I had the surgery to begin with as they couldn't help me because I am far-sighted.... UM, YOU THINK THEY WOULDN'T HAVE DONE THE ORIGINAL SURGERY TO BEGIN WITH IF THAT WERE THE CASE!!! AFTER 3 SURGERIES YOU TELL ME THAT YOU WERE NEVER ABLE TO CORRECT MY VISION TO BEGIN WITH!!!!!!!! I never saw a penny back for the money that I spent, and now I cannot see without Bi-focals and even then it's blurry and I have constant irritation in my eye. So my friend did his LASIk surgery with Diamond Vision after purchasing a Living Social voucher. As soon as he completed his surgery, he raved about it so that was my cue to go ahead and get rid of my glasses and contacts. From the moment I arrived the customer service provided was impeccable. Everyone was very accommodating and professional. Immediately I felt good vibes. I scheduled the surgery for two weeks later and it couldn't come any faster. I was not one bit nervous since it was obvious that Dr. Stetson is a seasoned pro. Within minutes my life changed. For the first time since the 2nd grade I was able to look at the clock and see the time without glasses or contacts. I'm 100% satisfied with my decision. LASIK surgery is becoming more and more common, but what makes Diamond Vision stand out is the staff and their level of professionalism. I went in for my 3-month check up a few weeks ago. And let me tell you, these last 3 months have been awesome! I was told that I now have 20/20 vision. I had purchased a LivingSocial voucher for the surgery. And when I tell people that, they look at me like, "Why would you use a coupon for something as important as your eyes?" Well, I agreed with them. But I also tell them that I did my research and found that Diamond Vision is a top-notch facility. And today, 3 months after my surgery, I still have to say that Diamond Vision is a top-notch facility. The staff and doctors there are extremely accommodating and patient. When I went in for my initial consultation, they explained everything to me very methodically. And I won't lie, they did offer to sell me some extras. But I said no, and they left it there, without trying to pressure me or anything of the sort. When I went in for my pre-op appointment, I was told my eyes are a little too dry. But they didn't say, "Too bad. You're not a good candidate." Instead, they worked with me and gave me some eye drops to reduce the dryness in time for surgery. And, they suggested that I go to their Garden City office for another appointment to see if the dryness had decreased. I go to school in Nassau, so it was very convenient. I appreciate how they work seamlessly across offices. Well, the drops worked. I went in for my surgery on a Saturday afternoon, back to their Manhattan office. It was a quick 8-minute process and I was done. When I woke up the next day, my vision was a little blurry (which is normal). But, I was amazed at how quickly the results start showing. All in all, I used a LivingSocial voucher for one of the best decisions ever. I am happy with my results and I am happy with the location I chose. No complaints about either. (Oh. And they give you a pair of awesome sunglasses after your surgery. I don't need to wear them anymore, and can wear my own. But they look good, so I still use them.) read more

I have never written a review, but when dealing with your eyes I feel the most important part is the overall care. I purchased my deal on living social and had no problem scheduling or dealing with anyone at diamond vision. Now about the care, the folks treated me like gold, everyone I met treated me with respect but much more importantly " professionally". I left after my first appointment feeling very confident that I picked the correct place to have surgery on my eyes. On the day of my surgery, I had to explain to the staff and the doctor that I had gotten poison ivy just a week before and I was nervous. The staff reviewed everything and agreed to postpone my surgery. It took a month to re-schedule (because of my ivy). When I went back, the staff remember me by first name, they knew about how nervous I was and took ultra care me. Especially the folks in the pre-opt care, but people reading this review should know. I needed extra time (because I was so nervous), this time allowed me to see how the staff treated other patients. Everyone got the same level of service, the staff told personal stories and made folks feel comfortable and relaxed. The care they gave others actually relaxed me more then their direct communications with me. I highly recommend diamond vision, at the end of the day it's about the surgery. I recently had custom vue intralase lasik surgery at this facility. I was extremely apprehensive about having the procedure, being an RN I was very knowledgeable about all the possible complications. The staff was awesome. Very professional, compassionate and attentive. They were very caring and willing to answer questions to calm my fears. The preoperative testing was very thorough, making me feel they were doing the best procedure for me. I have issues with dry eyes and they were successful in treating this so I could have the procedure without incident. The facility was very clean and comfortable. Their satellite locations offer convenience for pre-op and post op visits which are closer to my home. I had researched several facilities prior to making my decision to use Diamond Vision, and strongly feel I made a good decision to have my procedure done here. I want to give Dr. Stetson and his staff a huge THANK YOU for the fine service you all have provided, and giving me the ability to see without my glasses. Just awesome! read more

I absolutely recommend Diamond Vision if you're looking to have lasik surgery. I had an overall great experience! My consultation was with Brad Botelho. He was friendly, informative and answered all the questions that I had regarding the surgery. The day that I had my surgery, the staff and technicians were extremely nice which calmed my nerves, as did Dr. Stetson, who did an amazing job on my eyes. I had Lasik 3 months ago at Diamond Vision. My vision before was -5.25 in one eye and -6.5 in the other. I had 20/20 vision within a week of the procedure, and after my 3 month checkup i have 20/20 in each eye separately, but 20/15 together which is better than perfect vision. A lot of people are hesitant about getting Lasik, but they do a lot of tests before deciding if you're a candidate. So. Many. Tests. Apparently my cornea strength was above average so i was told that i was an excellent candidate. If you have a low cornea strength you may want to consider NOT getting Lasik. The procedure itself took less than 10 mins and the part where they laser your eye was less than 1 min per eye. There is a slight discomfort during the procedure but it wasn't painful, for me at least. Right after the procedure you will be able to see but it will be very hazy. By the next day, you can see more clearly but there is still a slight haze. The light sensitivity in the first couple of weeks was brutal but I went back to work 2 days after the procedure. I work in an office, so using sunglasses while looking at a computer was difficult but I powered through it. The light sensitivity does get better, but even after three months sunlight is still brutal, and I wear sunglasses most of the time outside. Overall i'm thrilled that i got Lasik and it was successful. Seeing things crystal clear without glasses or contacts has been mind blowing. read more

Eyesight before Procedure: -7.25 On August 2015, I decided to have customvue PRK done on both of my eyes. Procedure was done quick and painless. What I liked about Diamond Vision compared to its competitors was that they did not include the touch up corrective procedure amount into the pricing package; they gave you the option of it if your vision worsen. I did eventually reach 20/20 vision in both eyes roughly 8 weeks after the procedure. The reason why I gave the practice a low star rating is because of the adverse side effects I have sustained (that is possibly permanent) from the eye drop medications, Lotemax and Durezol. During the first week of post-op recovery, I used Durezol, prolensa, and cipro eye drops. During the first or second day of post op, my face and neck puffed up pretty bad. Emailed the practice but was told to continue. One month later, I was only on Lotemax and I developed symptoms of high blood pressure (160/100, mind you I am 5'10'', 135 lbs, and 23 years old). One year later of nearly stopping these drops, I still have symptoms from these steroid medications which have dampen the quality of my lifestyle. On Feb. 2016, I had a 24 hour urine cortisol test done which showed that levels were 1.5x times higher than the upper limit of the lab test range. Had I known this would have happen, I would have never gotten this procedure done in the first place. I have a cousin who had her procedure done in another country who did not require the use of corticosteroid eye drops and she is still completely fine (had procedure done 20 years ago), despite she had a -6.5 prescription. I also want to mention that I was required to use the steroid drops for 10 weeks, but I stopped during week 6 because of the symptoms. This makes me question on whether if it is truly necessary to use the steroid eye drops in the first place. Overall, I recommend those who are interested in getting laser eye surgery done to research every little detail about this subject, even the medications used. read more

I went to Diamond Vision after they advertised on Groupon though I did not take the Groupon Deal. I should have gone to Gothan Lasik instead where the surgeon takes care of you throughout. As for Diamond, you get to see the surgeon 5 minutes before the operation. Pre-op and post ops are done by the 2 inhouse doctor. I had Dr Shalom who was so eager to shoo me out of the room. My vision was great post op but overnight I became near sighted. They told me I might have to wear glasses for close-up but overnight I became far sighted. I just placed a call this morning and it is 5 hours later, stil waiting to speak to the Optometrist. read more

I don't think there are words to describe how happy I am with my experience at Diamond Vision. I was so nervous about LASIK for over a year but they put all my worries to rest. It was literally the best decision I ever made in my life. The procedure was painless and literally took 15 mins total. I was probably in the office for no more than an hr. The first two days I felt like a gritty feeling in my eyes but there was no pain. I did surgery early morning Saturday and returned right back to work Monday morning with no problems. I was able to see perfectly when I woke up from a nap Saturday night. The doctor was gentle through the whole process, was social and engaged with you so you felt calm. I even end up seeing better after surgery then when I wore glasses. I did surgery on May 5th and went away on vacation May 12th, I was able to see everything for the first it was so exciting. The only thing is you have to be very careful not to get any debris in your eyes or have water go directly in so I couldn't go under water to swim but wore goggles to jet ski. I cannot stress how grateful I am. read more

I had Lasik yesterday with Dr. Stetson. I purchased the surgery on a deal website. First, a few weeks ago I had an initial consultation. The guy was quick and tried to "upsell" me to PRK for another $600 above the deal I purchased and I wondered if I made a mistake or if it was going to be a "bait and switch" (by the way, it wasn't!). Then, I had a consultation with the scheduler and payment person who was very nice and patient-- she told me to start wearing glasses and stop wearing contacts until I saw the optometrist ten days later for another string of what seemed to be the same or similar tests. The optometrist was extremely nice. She did tell me, however, as they all did, that when the surgeon finally saw me, I might need PRK depending on his assessment. Surgery day came and I couldn't be more nervous. I really should've taken the Ativan the optometrist recommended or a valium. My nerves were fried. After all it's your eyes and, as a result, I put this off the last 10 years! No one can or does prepare you for the surgery. However, Dr. Stetson offered me the cuddly stuffed bear or the squeezy balls. I chose the squeezy balls. I put one in each hand and they put a blanket over me. Each step of the procedure, the doctor told me what I was going to feel and what was going to happen. Yes, you can't see for a few seconds during it. Yes, you feel a lot of pressure. Yes, you smell something-- it's a laser. But, it was only a couple of minutes, and I can probably put up with anything for that and the squeezy balls helped (I squeezed the hell out of them). Moments later I got up and I could see the clock on the wall. I rested for 15 min. in the comfy chair, put on my sunglasses they gave me, and walked to the train station with my husband. I went home, listened to some books on tape and slept-- I must've been so tense about it I slept like I never slept before. Most of the day and through the night. I woke up and saw the city like I've never seen it before. Crystal clear. However, (and I was told this), even though my up-close vision used to be ok, it isn't any more. So, it's reading glasses for that. Well, I can live with that and I was totally informed that would be the case. I wonder if, having to do it over again, they can do monovision, which is strong rx in one/dominant eye, and weaker in other eye for up close reading. I don't think, though, I would've gotten these exceptional results. I used to have bifocals and, between contacts, glasses, and eye exams yearly, I was spending at least $400-$500 and that was through discount places. I have my followup this morning and have gotta say, even though I purchased this through a deal website, I couldn't be happier. Yes, you don't get to meet the surgeon until day of surgery and, while I was there he was telling one out of the 4 of us that PRK was required on one eye, but explained it due to the guy's cornea thickness measurement. Yes, I was worried I'd be out another $600. But, I wasn't, and I now have a new, clearer outlook on life thanks to Dr. Stetson-- if you can ask for him, do-- he's the best! read more

Not a day goes by I don't regret letting Dr Stetson operate on me. I can't see anything clearly anymore. Not near. Not medium. Not far. I had this operation @ 1.5 years ago. I used to need a pair of glasses. Now I walk around with three pairs of glasses. That is the opposite of convenience. Dr Stetson doesn't care about you at all. Not one bit. Let me repeat that: Dr Stetson Does Not Care. He only wants your money. This is the McDonalds of eye care. They hire a lot of low wage people, and they teach them to use the machines, but you never see a Dr before the operation, and Dr Stetson will not follow up with you, but he'll have his staff call you if you don't give rave reviews, helping him to bring in more business. Stay away from this outfit, and especially Dr Stetson. I had the same experience as the other's that write here about them recommending/prescribing endless expensive drops. Restasis? I never had dry eyes before? My right eye is so bad, I rarely see anything very clearly anymore. My left is better, but I still can't see anything in my near to medium vision. I can't read small text anymore, regardless of the three sets of glasses I carry around...but here's the kicker...they actually had the nerve to tell me Dr Stetson "over corrected" my left eye, but they couldn't do anything for my right eye, so they would "correct" my left eye (to make it worse), and then my two eyes would be more equal, and since my right eye is my dominant eye, that would improve the misery of having the left be better than the right. This is one of the three worst decisions of my life, going to Diamond Vision. read more
