Years later after cooking with her many times at home cooking with her for our family I found a large knife in a cabinet that she had not used for many years because she was using the good one that was very sharpened; this knife was very dull, and to this day I have a four inch scar on my middle finger. Hence more people get cut on dull knives than sharp knives. I am now a self trained chef from my mother and others in my life; never ran or owned a restaurant, but love to cook northern Italian food for me & my wife and several friends, and extended family in another state. Anyway I have hired Stan (Stan's Slicer Service twice, and last week he brought back 18 knives sharpened in two days he personally picked up, and had delivered back that were perfectly done. One knife was my moms she gave me which was approximately 16" long & five inches wide and had a small nick in it; nick was gone & so sharp I could have shaved with it! His pricing is fair, does an outstanding job, and quick response. He also put food grade mineral oil on several knives on wood handles no xtra charge.

This negative review has been building for quite some time. I've lived out on the island for 10…read moreyears and shopped at this Ace the entire time. Over time, the customer service and general vibe of this store has gotten increasingly negative. I actually saw another recent review calling out the fact that the guy doesn't normally even take the time to review a hardware store, but the interactions are so negative that he felt like sharing and I couldn't feel more in agreement. I'm not sure what the deal is. Most employees are hanging around with RBF ready to look inconvenienced by the presence of customers. They like to give the impression of helpfulness shrouded in resentment and seemingly fatigue. I just got back from purchasing some tape which they insisted that someone help me with and then they sold me the wrong tape, which I then had to return to the store to return and buy the right tape. No, " I apologize for the inconvenience" or "sorry about that" Literally nothing. The dude that just "helped" me is just hanging back watching me return his selection about to cough up a lung. i'm starting to really believe that I'm being loyal to a fault, trying to give a small business some support, but honestly, I'd rather drive to another location or another business. Don't even get me started on the big guy that works outside where you pick up mulch- lol he's been a jerk for years! If misery loves company- they sure have all found each other. The exceptions to this should be mentioned but they weren't working tonight. The best part of the store is the garden department. There are some absolutely wonderful and knowledgeable people that work in that section!

We have been using the Miter/Samurai Saw blade to cut the wood planks which our friend let us borrow for over 3 months and now that the job is finished, I wanted to change the "10" inch circular blade as it has become quite dull, but can still cut slowly though. We just want to do the right thing and replace it. Saved up some $$$ too than purchasing one or renting them at the Home Depot. My partner and I tried to remove it and even followed the Youtube video on the specific saw as it is a Hitachi C10CFH2 as the Allen wrench we had on was the proper fit and size but still won't let it turn as we tried multiple times and we don't want to damage the head as it is so seized up. Next day, we took it to Proctor ACE Hardware at 5273 University Blvd West and went straight to the customer service and they immediately went at it and yep - they told me it was pretty seized up as it was overtightened all right. They had to drill out the screw to get it out and would be easily replaced as the store, lucky they have the part and after 30 minutes it was back to normal with a fresh blade DeWalt "10" circular blade that I purchased from the store and I did not even have to pay them for the labor, is there at least a tip jar? Awesome sauce! We are very grateful for the staff especially to Mr. Rodney, who did most of the nitty-gritty, Emrah for being so communicative and Mr. John for taking me to the right department. Next time I have any tool issues or need to buy gear (the prices are very good as may items were on sale, especially the gardening items, Spring is coming next month sooo... I would definitely go to ACE - The Helpful Place :)

I am extremely disappointed with the way my 16-year-old daughter was treated at the Sur La Table…read morecooking camp. My daughter has Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), a disabling condition that prevents her from standing for long periods. During the first two days of camp, my husband explained her condition to the staff, and they provided a chair so she could fully participate without unnecessary pain. On June 24, however, Chef Josh Sziranko handled the situation very differently. When my daughter politely asked for a chair, he questioned why she needed one. After she explained that she had a medical condition, he dismissed her request, threw up his hands in frustration, and refused to provide the accommodation that had already been given the previous two days. As a result, my daughter was forced to stand far longer than she could physically tolerate, causing a severe CRPS flare-up. Weeks later, she was still experiencing increased pain because of what happened. She was even unable to finish the remainder of the camp because of the pain. What disappointed me just as much was the lack of response from management. I contacted the store immediately after the incident and spoke with Casey, who said General Manager Kathleen would call me. Kathleen called the following day and said she would handle the complaint. Still, after that, despite another follow-up call from me, we never received an update, an apology, or any indication that the matter was taken seriously. A business that welcomes children should also know how to treat children with disabilities. A simple chair had already been approved and provided by staff on previous days, yet my daughter's request was dismissed, causing her unnecessary pain. I hope Sur La Table takes this experience seriously, provides disability awareness and ADA accommodation training to its staff, and ensures that no other child or customer with a disability is treated this way. I cannot recommend this location based on our experience.

Sur La Table is a whole experience!…read more Sur La Table was such a vibe! This class ended up being one of the absolute highlights of my trip to Jacksonville. My friend and I had the time of our lives, and it honestly felt like the perfect mix of learning, laughing, and connecting. One thing I loved most was how inclusive the whole experience is. Everyone gets a role, everyone gets involved, and you naturally end up chatting with new people. We met the sweetest couple and clicked instantly--it felt like we'd known them forever. Such a great way to build community while doing something fun. Quick note for anyone with dietary restrictions: I don't eat meat, and this particular class featured steak. They let me know that if I had called ahead, they would've happily made accommodations. So if you have allergies or restrictions, give them a heads‑up! They're extremely accommodating, which I really appreciated. We booked the Chef's Table date night class, and the menu was incredible. We made homemade gnocchi, a fresh salad, and a strawberry‑thyme sorbet that was a 10/10. The whole meal was simple, approachable, and taught in a way that made even "fancy" dishes feel doable at home. I left feeling inspired and ready to recreate everything in my own kitchen. Huge shoutout to our chef--he was from South Florida, and although I can't remember his name, he deserves all the praise. He explained everything clearly, shared a bit about himself, made everyone feel comfortable, and kept the energy fun and collaborative. His team and the store staff were just as amazing--kind, helpful, and genuinely excited to be there. From the safety walkthrough to the hands‑on techniques, everything was thoughtful and well‑organized. I'm already looking forward to coming back and doing it all over again. Thank you, Sur La Table, for such an unforgettable experience!
