I have been using this place for almost a year and I can't believe I've never left a review. I went in yesterday because I thought I needed a new Garbage disposal for my sink. There was a man who helped me who was a plumber and told me about a little button underneath, and I went home and clicked on it and it started working again. We were referred here by a friend who loves gardening and wow! They have quite the selection of plants and trees that I have never seen before in any of there stores in Jacksonville. Picked up a Guava Tree for $14.99, a Passion Fruit Vine for $17.99 and finally, a Bleeding Heart Vine for $19.99 - I have been looking for this for a long time and they got it yay! All the plants look really healthy and the staff is so accommodating. Parking is easy as well. I know I have reviewed this store before with a 5 star but I have to do it again. Pattie in the pool department is an outstanding employee. I brought in my pool pump because the bearing in the motor was bad. She quickly started taking the motor off the pump and gave me a quick class on how it's done. She is a a top notch employee. This is how customer service is defined. It really brightens your day when you get service like this. I hope her supervisor recognizes her excellence in her department. I love coming to Ace Hardware on San Jose. I've been to other Ace Hardware stores and none even come close to this one. The employees are always friendly and helpful. This is important to me as I am often woodworking and need help finding some specialty sized hardware/fasteners. Today I had the pleasure of Peyton assisting me in my fastener find. He is a great listener and took into my personal issue with threaded inserts. He asked about my project and came up with a couple of solutions, however none were right for this project. She knows nothing about the products they sell and she has a terrible very lazy attitude. Guessing she moved here from NJ. I just moved to Jacksonville and this is my absolute favorite place to be. Now that I'm a homeowner again, and I've got loads of projects to do in the home and in the yard, I feel like I live at this Ace. I can't say enough good things about this place. The staff is incredibly friendly, and they remember me. Everyone is helpful without exception. I've been doing ALL the home projects and I've never felt "stuck". Yay! Their garden department is incredible. Even just having a bad day walking through the garden department just perks up my spirits. The plants are very well taken care of, everything is healthy, and you can tell that the team is happy to work there. I appreciate seeing happy team members, because it says a lot about management and their style. From the first time that I set foot in this place in January this year, I could tell that this place is all about respect. Their outward response to Covid and the way they treated their guests and staff was commendable. Bravo you guys! I've spent disgusting sums of money here. Joyfully. LOL More spending on the way too. Store is well laid out with very good instructions to help you find exactly what you are looking for; plus I had $15.00 of coupons I could use that I got in the mail last week. I was thrilled I received a call from the manager of Hagan Ace Hardware. He walked me through what can and cannot be done and virtually all of it is acceptable. I understand the small local companies cannot turn on a dime and I truly work to support the local stores - Hagan Ace is a good store. They agreed I should call in orders (Does not appear to have any plans to make real time inventory available on line and to be fair, the products purchased locally at the big box have the same issue), agreed the employees were not following directions about PPE and will have a re-training session and helped with the payment system. I still rate a 4 instead of 5 as these things have to get fixed in a post COVID world. In the long run, the company will need to make the purchase process completely "frictionless" to survive. read more

This isn't the biggest Ace I've seen, but it is large enough, and might actually be the cleanest and most organized we've ever seen. We walked in just to pick up some bird feeder supplies, and were immediately impressed with the open layout. It was incredibly hot, and I was impressed with the cooler of cold sodas right at the entry, a very nice touch! A staff member found us within seconds, and gave us directions for what we needed. We found what we came for within...maybe 90 seconds at max, leaving plenty of time just to wander the store. We decided to wander the garden area for a while. They have a wide variety of plants, fertilizers and garden decorations and accoutrements. Thinking we had everything we needed, we hit the checkout lane, only to find another sale display for concrete stepping stones, including a design we already had (and enjoy) which put us right back into shopping mode. They sent us to the back of the store to pick these up, and the young men working this area had already bagged up our purchase so our car would not get messy. Well done, Hagan Ace! read more

This is an amazing ACE! They are not this nice or big up north. I was shocked to see all they offer... a separate florist and gift shop, kayaks and surfboards, clothing, and of course tools and grills. But I was really impressed by their lawn and garden area! It's unique and offbeat, with an orchid section and some great trees and shrubs. There's an indoor little fairy garden, and some fun plants you don't always see. They had a couple string of pearls plant (although they looked a little straggly), and several Hoya carnosa 'tricolor' plants, which I had been looking for. I bought one and am looking forward to it! if you have a pool, the only person you need is patty! affectionately known as "Pool Patty", she has instilled confidence in this pool owner and has always gone above and beyond. I was paying over $100/ month to have my pool maintained by "professionals" and now it's a fraction of that doing it myself with pattys guidance and the pool looks even better. As for customer service, I was having an issue with my pool heater and Patty immediately got the rep through text with me in the store and we tried to trouble shoot. I went home and tried but Patty let me know to reach out to her on her day off to see if I was successful and followed up with next steps and contacts to assist me. The company is coming out to fix my heater and I could not have done it without Patty. She consistently takes the time to engage each and every one of her customers and treats us like family. Worst customer service I've experienced in years! The associate spoke down to us and was unwilling to listen to my explanation on what the issue was! His name was Jeff not sure of his last name! He worked in the tool section! The situation was as follows. I returned a defective craftsman ratchet at this location about 2 months ago and they were out of that exact tool so the associate gave me a different more expensive ratchet I really didn't want I simply wanted to get the tool I initially had! Jeff was zero help as compared to the gentleman who helped me at my local Lowe's store who got me the tool I wanted originally and even thanked me for my business! Imagine that?!? My reviews are typically about food, but I had such a great experience with the florist that I had to let Yelpers know. I recently got married and had been pricing flowers for a small wedding. I was astounded at the quotes I was getting. A coworker suggested Hagan Ace as they did her wedding flowers, and she was very happy with them. I met with Kedra and told her I wanted fall flowers, and my only requirement was to have a couple calla lilies in the bouquets. I went in 2 weeks prior to the wedding to pay, and saw flowers Kedra had just finished for another wedding. I immediately thought "I will be thrilled if my flowers are half as beautiful as those". We picked our flowers up the morning of our wedding, and I was blown away by the job Kedra did. I don't know what most of the flowers were, but they were fall colors as ordered. She also incorporated 3 small charms, for my deceased Dad, my husband's Dad and my dog in my bridal bouquet, as well as a small white feather (symbolism). Huge thanks to Kedra for the awesome job on my flowers, and for being so easy to work with! And thanks to Hagan Ace for not price gouging for wedding flowers (they were less than half of the other quotes I received!). read more

so i go in and want an analysis of some grass blades which i have in a sealed baggie,,,they tell me to "see Dave,,,he is the expert on grass". so i go to the back and Dave is busy talking with other lady employees,,he is apparently expecting me as they called back to him,,,but rather than greet me or say something,,," like Hello and welcome to Ace,,,how may i help you?" he just points a finger in a general direction without saying a word,,,and i have no idea what is going on,,,then one of the lady's takes me back up front and looks at the grass and helps me out,,,,very nicely,,,,but Dave needs some definite help and instructions on how to take care of customers. so apparently they dont want any diseases getting loose,,,which i can understand but it was in a sealed bag.
