This spot has been around for a long time and has the best bread! I always get my sandwiches on their green chile cheddar bread which has the texture of a good soft white bread but with flecks of cheddar and chile in it. Very flavorful and sturdy enough to hold a lot of good quality meats and cheese. I personally have had a few-including their turkey and Swiss and the Italian sub. Super delicious with fresh lettuce, tomato, onion and banana peppers every time. I also have gotten their homemade baked goods such as croissants, danishes, pies - and today a fudgy brownie. Friendly and fast staff too. Just plan to eat outside in the large courtyard that has plenty of tables shared by other businesses. The Italian sandwich (not sure that's what it's called) I ordered was so good, I'll overlook the below avg cookies. Sandwich filled w meats. Ordered a special cake for early pick-up, which is before 1 pm. Cakes were not ready, hadn't been baked. I was told it would be 2 hours. At 1 pm, which was 2:15 hrs from original pick-up time, I called and it was 1:40 pm when the cakes were ready. On the phone a gal informed me they would do something because of the inconvenience of it all. Only when asked about what was going to be done did a lady tell me 15% discount and they would have to contact someone. Sad part was Diane was there and never said a word. A wonderful place to get most meals. We enjoy getting take out, packaged lunch or dinner meals in the cooler. Sometimes we get several for a day or two. Our favorites are salmon with potatoes and veggies, and also several chicken choices with either pasta or potatoes and veggies. Ok, so I went here for dinner tonight and the food was just alright--I'm thinking I may have ordered the wrong things though. I got the veggie curry and a slice of carrot cake. The curry itself was tasty but the choice of veggies seemed way off--many of them were really crunchy. I guess I was expecting something on par with a Thai restaurant which was probably unfair. Carrot cake was so-so. Portions were huge, service was great, prices kinda high--$15 for the aforementioned curry :/ On another note though, the ambiance was AMAZING!! I sat in the parlor area--for those that haven't been there before, they have the parlor/bar area and then the main restaurant. They had a live musician playing the guitar--some patrons even got up to sing. It was pretty great. If I lived here or was staying longer, I would for sure go back to try something else. Wow, Diane's Bakery and Deli is AMAZING. The moment you walk in, you immediately notice the scent of fresh bread and pastries. Come in early when everything is straight out of the oven and well-stocked! I wish I could try everything here. Thus far, I've had a NY cheese danish, bearclaw, the turkey+cheese+onion stuffed croissant, turkey+swiss sandwich, and ham+cheddar sandwich; I've loved all of it. Their pastries are so light and fluffy. They are not too sweet, but flavour still really pops. My favourites for breakfast are their stuffed croissants, and they are especially good when they have just come out. Their sandwiches are also excellent for lunch. I was surprised by how big they are, and they each come with a cookie! After eating one for lunch, I'm set to have a late dinner. The staff here are all so nice as well. They are very friendly, and they know their stuff. I'll surely miss Diane's Bakery and Deli and can't wait to come back next time I'm in Silver City! read more

Never had a pastry I didn't like and can't wait to try the pies. I had the turkey swiss and roast beef sandwichs along with a mini greek salad they were a little pricy but worth it. Everything is fresh and made homemade. We got cookies with it but had less chocolate chips than expected. There cheese danish is the best we've ever had. Defiantly worth a try read more

I love Diane's. One of my favorite bakeries in the whole world. Really. Note: Diane's has a sit-down restaurant across the street and down the block. This place is the bakery and deli, tucked a little back from the street in the Market Hub. First of all, there are the sweet items. I looooove their brownies. And their danishes. And their black-bottom muffins. In fact, everything I've had from that part of the store is just fantastic. And very reasonably priced. Then, we have the sandwiches. Best place to get a sandwich within a hundred miles, maybe more. I don't really like their white sandwich roll/bread. Kinda flavorless. But their wheat bread is delicious. And you get a cookie with your sandwich too. Besides sandwiches, they have other savory stuff: pizza (really yummy), and cheese and meat filled croissants - both are in the bakery case. And they have a wide variety of beverages on hand, and coffee. The people who work their are very nice, and the store is clean. Sometimes at lunch rush you have a wait a little bit, so if you are visiting from a bigger city and used to everything happening fast, plan to chill out a little. It's worth it. They have just a few stools to sit on inside - most people take their stuff to go, or sit outside at the tables in the plaza. Overall, one of my favorite places in Silver City. My family and I love the food here and most of the staff. The problem is that on the last two visits we have had a problem with the same staff member. The first problem was that I ordered pizza and she put it in the oven and forgot about me and the pizza slice. Not that big of a deal. The last time we visited the same staff person forgot my cheese danishes, told me there were stuffed grape leaves in the salad I ordered, which there weren't and then sold my wife full sized sandwiches for my eight year old and eleven year old. When I asked to speak to the manager the girl told me that she was the shift manager and that the manager wasn't there. I then told her that she is the reason why I am complaining. My main gripe was the fact that she sold adult sized sandwiches to my young boys. She said that it was my wife's fault for not asking for a half sandwich. I explained that I have never had to ask and that it was always offered by the other staff members. She continued to insist that it was my fault. I am not sure if we will be back, which is a shame because the food is so good. If we do go back we will insist that this person is not our order taker. I never got her name but she has short black hair and piercings in her face. read more

Just had a very delicious sandwich here. Usually kind of hard to get excited about a deli sandwich, but my Black Forest Ham & Cheese on wheat was so good that the other 1/2 I took home to eat later got eaten within the hour. They put horseradish mayo, lettuce, tomato, red onion, some kind of banana peppers? on the sandwiches. All the flavors meld together perfectly, nice kick from the horseradish mayo/peppers. Wonderful. I am a regular and it seems like it always gets better. I always go for the homemade croissants, especially green chili and cheese ones. For lunches, I think the sandwiches the make can't be topped. There cheese just seems tastier than any I can buy in a store, especially their cheddar and pepper jack. Every now and then, I will get one of their frozen or frig entree's as they really do heat up well when you go home after work, too tired to cook. My daughter always gets a fresh salad. What I also really like is their consistent long hours. You can always find something savory, filling, or just "sweet" to enjoy at the bakery. This is not your normal bakery.
