First thing to mention, kudos for their longevity. They are coming up on their first decade next summer. The cafe decor also held up pretty well, including the large glass fixture from the ceiling. Seattle Sunshine Coffee also outlived Ventoux that I had mentioned in my prior post. The barista and I compared my 2016 stamp card to the current design, just had a few slight different nuances. This indie cafe had folks onsite, but not packed. There was still room available whether seated along the sidewalk, main seating area, or the upstairs mezzanine. Some convos to be had, but most of the cafe clientele were on their laptops or reading. Pastry case was well stocked with the wholesale variety from Macrina, plus the usual bevs and cafe fare. I enjoyed my near two hour onsite visit. The only thing I wished is that I had brought a hoodie. The AC was jacked up. and of course, I had savored an iced mocha. Hopefully my next cafe detour won't take nine years though between visits.

The service is attentive and nice. The coffee is tasty and smooth. We all ordered an oatmilk latte, we'd rate 4.5/5. The Matcha latte was 0/5, do not buy, tastes like sugar milk I would come back for the coffee and to get work done! :)

It's located in the same spot after many decades in Seattle's Wedgwood neighborhood. Since there's several cafes along this stretch of 35th NE, as point of reference, it's two doors south of Wedgwood Broiler. It shares a huge parking lot and adjacent to a Metro bus route. It had a nice autumn hue from the overhead lighting and interior decor. The local art for sale adorning the walls was a nice added touch. Upbeat, welcoming staff. It was full right at noon and brisk walk-in takeout traffic. Nice overhead music to chill, dine, and/or do laptop stuff. They offer the usual bev menu, as well as, breakfast & lunch items, soups, salads, modest pastry case (from Alki Bakery), merch, and coffee roasts from Zoka. The 16oz mocha was well crafted temp wise & good balance of espresso, steamed milk, and chocolate. I also opted for the roast beef panini without the horseradish. Generously filled with roast beef, havarti, mayo, and red onion on savory focaccia. It was provided with au jus and I selected potato salad versus chips. The au jus was not salty, so after dipping, I also sipped the hot broth. Very flavorful and filling. The other panini half I'll have to take home. Thanks to fellow Yelp Elite All Star, Will L for a compelling post. This was a pleasant detour for lunch.

A friend of mine invited me for lunch, and we popped by there around noon. It wasn't too crowded, with ample seating, even for a place that's pretty small. The staff were very warm and friendly, and even joked with us a bit. Beyond the food, we had a good time hanging there. My friend suggested the vegan sandwiches, specifically the Turkey Firehouse. It was delicious! Van Gogh is now on the list of local lunch spots to hit!

IG keeps recommending me this place, so I decided to give it a go on a Saturday evening around 6pm…read more It's a pretty casual place to hang out and talk with friends though not much seating; there are some tables at the entrance. There's also a small gaming console at one of the corners as well. Going inside, the menu is at the front wall, and they serve tons of things from your regular boba and banh mi sandwiches to some specialty drinks to some pretty loaded vermicelli bowls and even bubble waffles. I was actually overwhelmed with the choices and took a while to decide what I really wanted. For this visit, I got their lemonade galaxy and three egg rolls with fish sauce. Lemonade is really tasty, and there's also a bunch of peach bits inside as well. It also has butterfuly pea flower, which is mild and not too sweet to begin with. Perfect since I didn't want something too strong to go with my egg rolls! They weren't piping hot like I wanted them to be, but I loved that there was slightly more meat than filling and that it wasn't overstuffed with taro unlike some other places I've had back then. I'm sure I didn't get the full experience here given I didn't get the stuff I always see on their IG page like the watermelon slush and banh mi sandwiches, so that's what I'll do next time I come here. Looking past that, I highly recommend this place, which feels like a hard-to-find hole in the wall! You'll want to rely on street parking to reach here if you're going by car.

The outside is very unassuming and I you wouldn't guess there was a decent establishment but you walk inside and you are immediately greeted. The person at the register is ready to take your order. There were quite a bit of options! I don't know why but I didn't expect that. I decided to get a Brown Sugar with milk since that's my favorite and it was good! Nice and sweet with not too much ice. The inside is small but they did alright with the space available. There was a little video game corner that I was tempted to stay and mess around with but I was busy. I'm interested in what the other menu options are like and am likely to return!

I absolutely love their specialty drinks like honey cardamom, and a shakerato. The vibe and atmosphere is wonderful. It's usually social and low-key but never too loud. They have excellent food, matcha with option to remove sugar (not all coffee shops have this!). Generally, I feel like their staff is really great! Love the location minus the issues with parking being tricky for a quick stop, sometimes need to pay. I keep coming back here! With gas prices over six dollars and budgets getting tighter for so many the one thing that hinders me is their prices. Their baseline drinks are an average of $5.75 + tip. Quiche slice is $8 two hard boiled eggs near $4. Typical typically if I'm gonna spend almost $10 I'd rather buy a fancy drink like a bubble tea or go out for an appetizer and food. When you own your own espresso machine and Matcha at home it's hard to justify getting such expensive drinks unless there is that "I can't make this at home" appeal - housemade syrups, Boba, etc I do love that urban coffee lounge has pour over options which can be time-consuming and cold brew, which is delicious and also more time-consuming. I appreciate their presence in the neighborhood. Having lived in Seattle for so long with so much access to incredible coffee I appreciate urban coffee lounges level of expertise with coffee. It is more rare on the east side. (Zoka is great of course!) And I will keep coming back, but sparingly due to prices. (Am I the only one who feels this way? Let me know!) Thanks for being here, urban coffee lounge!
