First time visit to Brown Study Coffee Space today (5/26/20), located off of 35th NE near Nathan Hale High School. This location has always been previous indie cafes in one format or another. Ordered a 16 oz mocha and another one with 3 shots. Coffee was much improved over my molten, one dimensional yesterday from another southend spot. Today's mocha was at the perfect temp, decent ratio of coffee to steamed milk and chocolate. Very enjoyable and a much needed boost after a pathetic start earlier this morning. Coffee menu is being updated, but I did include photos of their other beverage selection and savory items. The pastries featured are from Sod House Bakery in Ravenna. Again, the usual protocol, wear a mask, social distancing with limits to one or two people maximum in the cafe. Decent mocha option if in the vicinity! read more

I stopped by this morning because I frequently walk by this cafe. They have gone above and beyond for safety measures-they are allowing no more than 6 people at a time inside, and you can order either at their desk or in front of the barista. Masking is enforced and they have hand sanitizer available. The barista was very friendly and professional! There is no seating inside at this time. It was hard to choose what I wanted, and I decided to go with something new to me. I have never had a Taro Espresso Latte before, let alone Taro & Coffee, and I was blown away. The flavor was excellent and not too sweet-the balance of the Taro and the Coffee was perfect. They also had some chips, cookies and pastries although I did not have any of those today. Their menu has so many options-I will definitely be back for something, whether traditional or new. Come check it out! Bonus: the parking is easy, and they are close to the Meadowbrook Pond, Nathan Hale High School and the Lake City Fred Meyer. This cafe is easy to access and is conveniently located. read more

This is my favorite local coffee shop! The owner/barista has the best espresso drinks in the neighborhood. He also has a number of blended drinks that are on the sweet side of you're looking for something more like a Starbucks Frappuccino. It's a small shop that doesn't get enough traffic during the pandemic, so he had to cut back on his food offerings and has a limited selection of pastries and some paninis. The paninis make a perfect light lunch. My one complaint is that the hours aren't always consistent -- mostly because it's just the owner running the shop on his own. He usually updates his hours on the Google business page, so you have to remember to check there to see if he's open. read more

The drinks are pretty good! They open late sometimes which is inconvenient for me but maybe not for others. Ty service is pretty good it take a long time to get a drink though. There is only maybe 3 places to sit so it feels at bit uncomfortable sometimes but over all it a pretty good place to get a little drink it pastry! read more

A perfect little spot to go and get work done! I was there a couple Sundays ago and so impressed by the owners'/baristas' hospitality They also make all their snacks in house--rather than most cafes that order shipments of pre-made sandwiches they heat up and overcharge for. They taste better, and slightly cheaper than the standard! While I was there, the barista was closing and coffee-desperate people coffee kept coming in before realizing it was closed... He stayed open and went out of his way to make all their drinks! One mom came from soccer practice with her son who really wanted a smoothie (first of all, so cool that they offer menu variety beyond the standard espresso drinks) and the owner knew exactly his favorite flavor. Another woman specifically orders a latte with no foam (doesn't that defeat the purpose?) but he plays along with it, and always remembers her order. Another young couple came in search of stale bread to feed nearby park ducks, and he didn't have any but specifically went to the back to find something else for them. They didn't even buy anything! But I'm sure they'll remember the kindness and come back to this cafe. Truly exceptional service, and above-and-beyond experience all around. Coupled with the fantastic drinks(+food) & cute atmosphere, it's rising to the top of my cafe-list and certainly will for others who check it out read more

Fantastic coffee (beans are from Seven) and wonderful service. Stopped by for a quick cup and got some delicious espresso! Ordered a triple 16oz vanilla latte; smooth espresso and perfect foam. While there, I think 5 people came in and we were only around for a few minutes. It's clear that this is a popular place for coffee in the neighborhood. The barista started many friendly conversations with patrons about their personal lives in a way that suggested they've been coming here for forever. She even asked us how we've been doing and you just get the friendly, local vibe here! Excited to add this into the rotation of weekend cafes :) . A side note that we appreciated; they carry two chai's and distinctly mention them on the board. My husband loves chai, but only tries the homemade stuff or he goes for Oregon Chai. Many cafes do not specify what type of chai they serve, so we always appreciate when they do! read more

Looks like they've changed the owner. I stopped by the store bc the Yelp review, but there is no sandwiches, and their coffee is tasteless.

I got the Turkey Pesto Panini here and it was delish. Nice atmosphere, too. Just beware if you plan on going there during typical weekday lunch hours... it gets flooded with high schoolers on their lunch, and they are very loud and stand around blocking the entrance/exit. If you do go there during this time, plan on getting your food/drink to go! read more

This is a diamond in the rough in terms of coffee shops in Seattle. It has a cozy neighborhood feel, but serves coffee just the way you order it. I asked for a vanilla latte, not too sweet. It was perfect! The barista even checked in after my first sip to make sure it was to my liking. The smooth jazz playing in the background and big windows in front make for great vibes and lighting if you need a good spot to settle in and get some work done. read more

This place not only has style and flavor, but it has heart. I forgot my child lunch and ran into the coffee shop looking for something for him. I grabbed a cheddar bagel with cream cheese and asked if they had yogurt cups or granola and the gentleman gave me the yogurt he had brought for himself for lunch! His generosity in my time of motherly desperation saved the day!!!! Wow. I'm only giving 4 stars vs 3 because I could at least see the other young lady working was friendly and making conversation with people in the shop. The espresso is good but the girl behind the counter there today with dark Brown hair was terribly pretentious and rude. She didn't smile once even when I asked her how she was doing when I first walked up. She seemed as if she had much better things to do than be at work. I asked what is in a morning glory muffin and her monotone "can't be bothered" response was "I don't know....its like a bran muffin" It isn't so much what she said or lack there of bc she barely spoke to me, it's the tone and way in which she said it. Came here on the way back from my morning walk. The service is good but the coffee and pastries are excellent. I cannot speak for the atmosphere since I didn't sit at a table, but it seems like a nice quiet place to study or work. My son enjoyed his kids hot chocolate. The barista made an effort to ensure that it was just the right temp for a small child. The chocolate chip cookies are yummy. I recommend this place because it's local and has good coffee. Anywhere but Starbucks is my motto, and that's why I came here in the first place. It is well worth it. read more

This place is fantastic! They have 3 different types of Chai, they tap the espresso perfectly! It's a small & but quiet place with free WiFi. Perfect spot off the 64/65 bus route. Surprised to come back into town and find this location has brand new owners, but they seem great! A couple of really friendly guys playing cool jazz and offering free wi-fi, and the Italian sodas are a nice departure from the coffee drinks for me, but they offer all the standard stuff plus snacks. I feel like this place is going downhill, and it has never been stellar to begin with. This morning I ordered bagel and was told I now have to toast it myself and before they would toast it for you and put a generous amount of cream cheese on it but now you get a single packet of cream cheese. I would love for a Starbucks to move in here. On top of that there is only ever one person working and it is quite slow. read more
