I love Dicey's! Visiting Ireland for a week as a college student, it was an amazing and memorable time for the group of us. It was very lively and full of super fun and friendly people. There's a $10 admission fee, but the drinks (beers, ciders, etc...) are fairly cheap (except for cocktails/mixed drinks). The drink lines are pretty long on a busy night. The main age demographic I would say are people from 18-25 years old. It does get quite loud and crowded, but it is still a great time to get drinks with friends and dance! read more

The staff are so aggressive and rude! When trying to buy a ticket, the woman at the front gave us a nasty look and ignored us for several minutes before allowing us in. Once inside I saw several people literally dragged out for seemingly nothing. At the end of the night, I went to coat check and must have dropped the ticket, but the employee turned his head and refused to speak to me. I described my jacket and tried to enter the line with my friend but the guy physically pushed me back. Then a female security guard grabbed me and very aggressively brought me outside. (Btw I am a 5'2" girl obviously not dangerous or belligerent). I had to walk home in the cold and I am telling all my friends to stop going here. Customer service was so bad and frankly scary. "Security" guards were grabbing me around the waist, pushing my friends, and yelling at us. Also, I did the €5 coat check and my ticket must've fell out of my wallet. The lady REFUSED to give me my (quite expensive) jacket back and smirked and ignored my protests, even though I had the charge on my phone, a picture of me wearing it that night, and could say what was in the pockets. I am astounded by the way my friends and I were treated by the guards inside -- also I am clearly not alone in this experience based on the plethora of reviews saying the same thing. I was there, completely sober, with my two other female friends (all of us age 20) with prepaid tickets, and we were repeatedly grabbed around the waist, hips, and arms aggressively by security guards with no warning and for no apparent reason. They were repeatedly yelling at us and many other people around us and were honestly just scary, which combined with the unwanted physical contact was just not okay. To be honest, it seemed like several of them were getting off on scaring girls and being able to touch them. At one point, we were so put off we were trying to leave the bar by going downstairs but were blocked from leaving via the singular staircase and told to wait. We waited respectfully at the top of the stairs as a crowd slowly accumulated behind us, pushing against us while we waited 10 minutes to be able to leave. If someone was having an emergency or a panic attack, there would have been no way for them to leave, which is unsafe and unacceptable. One girl who seemed like she was freaking out by the overwhelming number of people was trying to get past the guard to leave the establishment and he physically grabbed her and pushed her back, barring her exit -- she started crying. Another girl next to me, who was probably 5'2" or 5'3", was almost shoved over the railing by the massive crowd all trying to go downstairs to leave, received no help from the security guard while she was yelling "help" and "stop pushing", and I and one of my friends had to grab her to keep her from genuinely being pushed over. Then, when we went downstairs and tried to ask the security guard how to leave (we were genuinely just so anxious and freaked out we just wanted to get out), we were yelled at and told to "keep it moving", and then my friend and I were both grabbed around the waist. We were so uncomfortable, panicked, and feeling so unsafe that both of my friends started crying as we left, and we ended up talking to the manager outside for like 10 minutes explaining what happened. Clearly, though, this is a repeated issue and no steps have been taken. Women, be careful going to this place and be aware that you will be touched by the workers without your permission. I bought my friends and myself shots and a drink, got charged on my credit card (where I got both a phone notification and an email), and then we went on into the club. 15 minutes later, I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was our bartender, saying my card didn't get approved. I showed him the notification and the email from 18 minutes earlier, showing the $81.46 that I paid. They kept saying that it was declined, although the receipt they showed us said "authorized." The bartender said it was his fault, but his manager was 1000% blaming it on us. We are confused as to why he didn't seek us out (which was weird anyway) until 15 minutes later, when his bar was completely empty. We felt as though we were being targeted and followed because we were Americans. A good and fun experience until then. I just basically think that the manager was tracking us since we got let in the club. I booked in 2 weeks ago reservation for 10 people. Reservation stated the time at 5:30. I was there at 5pm waited in a que, for over 40 mins que didn't even move, then when it was my turn first in the que, I was stopped and asked to pay entrance charge of €10, completely unfair and unprofessional. Every time I had a pint from this place I had worst stomach ache in the morning their x employee explained that their to bars pipelines are not cleaned which may have been causing all that poisoning or stomach ache, hence the reason why they are selling it for cheap. read more

This would definitely be one of Dublin's hottest nightspots. It's mostly known as dicey's as its main attraction is the beer garden out back. It is located under Krystle and has a bar inside as well as a couple of function rooms, all of which are part of the Russell Court Hotel. At the moment is has a big promotion on Thursday nights - with bottles only €3. This includes beer, cider and basically anything that comes in a bottle and it also has deals on shots and vodka and red bulls - basically a students dream and the perfect way to set yourself up for a messy night out. I've always had a good night out here - except recently a friend was refused for being dressed 'too casually'. It was 8pm on a Thursday evening and apparently they have a smart dress only after 7pm rule - even though there is not one sign ANYWHERE that stated this! read more

My guilty pleasure - i must confess im a bit embarrassed to say but i always have good craic when i go here ! And not just because of the prices on the student night !! They have a very big beer garden which is really good especially when your friends don't share your awful smoking habit ( im smoker so i can nag about it hahaah). Dicey Riley's might like to think that its a classy place but there's a difference between shockingly expensive and classy. Jam-packed at the weekend and charging €6 a pint, the recession has not yet reached the beer garden of Dicey's. And to be fair, it is a pretty impressive beer garden - it's so well designed, sheltered and insulated that you can sit in it well into the wee hours without really realising that you're actually outside. Does this luxury justify €8 for a G&T - I think not. The crowd is dressed up to the nines - you may feel like you're at a massive wedding or a 21st - and I imagine a lot of them were frequenting that other infamous Harcourt Street venue, Coppers, a few years ago. Today we ventured away from our comfort zone of O'Brien's Sandwich Bar and decided to throw caution to the wind... have lunch in Dicey's. I had heard rumours that they have a kick ass salad bar. And do you know what, its true - they do have a kick ass salad bar. When you get to the carvery, keep walking through the door frame on the left and then hang another left. For 6.25 EUR I went for a piece of yummy cold salmon and filled the rest of the plate with the different salads they had on offer. They have coleslaw, potato salad, egg salad, Waldorf salad (yummy), a rice like pasta salad (yummy), peppers, tomato, lettuce. You get the gist. But what they do is pile it high on your plate and for me this is great value. My colleagues both went for toasted wraps and they were good, very cheap too. Like 2.90 EUR for a three filling wrap toasted with some crisps on the side. Woah! Staff were very nice and quick to serve. The only fault I have is the smell of stale beer when you enter the building. But when you leave that area it seems to abate. read more

To my surprise, I found a crowd barrier near the front door, and 2 tough looking doormen guarding the entrance. When I walked in, one of them stopped me and told me I could not go in. When I asked him why this would be, he informed me that my outfit did not match the prescribed dresscode. I asked him what the problem was, and he pointed out that I was wearing shorts. Okay, fine with me, if your rules prohibit shorts, I'll go spend my money in one of the other 1100 bars in Dublin. However, if you are a bar and refuse people entrance to your establishment solely based on the fact that they wear shorts, you will automatically receive a 1star rating from me. Let me explain that I was not dressed in some sort of knacker outfit. I wasn't wearing a track suit or white runners or anything. I was dressed in a Harrington jacket, a New York Mets t-shirt and black leather shoes. Yes, and a pair of cargo shorts. All my clothes were clean, nothing was torn or had any offensive messages or images on it and I was stone cold sober. Still, they wouldn't let me in. I didn't care too much- I walked around the corner and went to Against the Grain where I drank quality beer and received no remarks on my clothes. I can understand that pubs have a dress code that prevents tracksuits and white runners, or clothes that are dirty, ripped or smelly. That's the way you keep the knackers, homeless and winos out. If you're a bar and handle a dress code that goes any further, I think you're a pretentious twat and you won't get my custom. Dicey Reilly's is a bar, nothing more than that. You're not the f*kcing Bellagio. I'm not having dinner with the President. I came here on Wednesday night and have very mixed feelings about the place. Let's start with the pros. There's less of them. - €2 pints - Giant beer garden The cons [I'll try not to rant too much. It was €5 entry and then €2 per pint after that as mentioned in my pros. I felt like the only Irish person there. This place was full of all different nationalities but notably Brazilians and Spanish. My partner is Brazilian and that's why I was here so I wasn't surprised by this and this was a good thing as it created a very different atmosphere as people were dancing and they were not drunk yet. Irish people need to be drunk to dance! Whilst in the smoking area every time we tried to put our bags and jackets somewhere this extremely rude and tall Brazilian bouncer told us to pick up our bags. I challenged him on this on the 3rd time he said it to us and asked why, he said there's a cloakroom. It was ridiculous. The ladies want to keep their bags to hand for a number of reasons. They were never in peoples paths, they were tucked behind things. So no one would be tripping up on them. What annoyed me more was that as I walked around other areas there were plenty of bags and jackets around the place. So I think this guy was just a bit of a prick. He also told us to move at one point because we were blocking peoples way. It was packed. EVERYONE was blocking peoples way. He was now just picking on us because I challenged him. Total prick. As the night went on I spotted more Irish guys and they were mostly rough skanger types and from what I heard from one group they were looking for some "Brazilian gee". This place is insanely cheap but it comes with a price. But if you are looking for some "Brazilian gee", €2 pints, rude security staff or the novelty of being asked for ID in your mid thirties then I highly recommend it. read more

Hate to say it, but Deicey Reilly's is a horrible place. I've been here twice, first for a class-night-out months ago and more recently for a birthday celebration. Both times, I wanted to turn around in the door. I probably would have, if the arrogant bouncers hadn't pushed me inside while a moody girl took my bag and searched every little pocket. Ok, they do probably have lots of people smuggling in alcohol as brining your own seems to be best bet to get a drink. If you do survive the ordeal in the door and make your way to the beer garden, the place doesn't look quite as bad. It has space for dancing, little corners for chatting and a party-vibe. This is fine, we can have fun here, you might think at this moment. That is, until you try to make your way to the bar. With the massive queues, if you're not a regular, don't expect to even get a look from the bartender. When I first moved to Dublin, people used to come here on Tuesdays. Tuesdays at Dicey's, they said. All shots and drinks are at 2-3euros. I hated it then, and it's good to see I still hate it now. I guess you reach an age where you prefer to pay a premium on your drinks, pay a little bit more and have a much better environment. Two euro drinks are not worth everything this place stands for. Let's see, the floor is ALWAYS sticky, always. The security guys yell at you for moving the chair from one side of the table to another. They also yelled at me for holding a drink on the dance floor, even though I was completely sober and had no risk of spilling. I stood 3cm out of the dance floor and then it was fine? I went to Dicey's on Tuesday night and loved it. My review has one major caveat: I would never go here again UNLESS I could get into the VIP section again. Just walking through the beer garden I felt like I might develop contact agoraphobia. Thankfully, I had a friend who knows what's what and we went straight to the upstairs terraces, which were comfortable and spacious. I dont know how we got up there or if it was a special booking, but I will probably only go with her in the future. With that in mind... I really like this place. So in rebuttal to some of the lower-stared reviews: there are drink discount nights (Tuesday: 2euro, Wednesday: 2.50euro, Thursday: 3euro, Friday: 4euro) where you can get any pint or jagerbomb for that price. To help with crowd control (because of the prices I assume), they have 21+ on Tuesday and weekends. But yeah, the bouncers are on a bit of a power-trip--I've never been thrown out, but I've seen plenty of people get pulled out. I've also never waited longer here than at any other bar/club to get a drink. The bar is in the first room when you walk in, then a room with a band (until midnight?), then an outside area with heat lamps and a DJ. There is a balcony area that you need to call ahead and give a company/school/club name to, this is a lot calmer than the ground floor because there is not a lot of room to dance. There is also a basement that goes by the name of Bojangles where you cannot bring drinks onto the dance floor. It happens all the time and people are either told to take the glasses off the floor OR the glass gets smashed. I wonder why they don't just use plastic cups? The crowd is a bit of a mixed bunch. There are working adults who are either in their work clothes or trying to dress cool who might try to creep on the college crowd (last night was the first night this did NOT happen). read more

I came here a few times and also on Halloween as it's a really popular place for students at my college. The downstairs floor inside was pretty empty for a Halloween night, but the garden upstairs was packed, and they had outdoor heaters which was nice, especially in the freezing weather of October. They do have deals on drinks, but other than those I found the prices to be quite exorbitant. A gin and tonic was €15! I know drinks in clubs are always expensive, but I don't think I've ever paid that much. Better stick to beer next time. It's only 10 euro to get in so it's a popular place for students; every time I go I bump into lots of my classmates and people from college which I don't mind, although I'd probably not come here after I graduate for that reason. The bouncers were ok in that I never had any problems with them, although the queue outside to get in was slow moving. They are also quite strict. In terms of music, I love the songs they play here but I'm not a fan of sitting around outside, so I was disappointed at how empty it was at 1am on a Halloween night. The bathrooms are ok, and a lady is there to provide a huge range of cosmetics from perfumes, deodorants and makeup to chewing gum, probably the most I've seen so far as usually it's only the basics. Overall: Cool club, young vibe, nice beer garden upstairs which can be very crowded. Bouncers: fairly strict, holding my ID up to the moonlight to see if it's fake even though I'm 24. After having heard a looot about that place I finally get there as well! So the good things: Big, a lot of space you can come with a group and also book tables upstair, was quite cool there. Cheap. Really really cheap. Burgers + chips 5€, little bottle of wine 6€ and drinks around 2€ until 7 or 8pm.... But... I found that people were not really nice to us (no smiling, you feel like you are annoying them... even if I know that is a hard job and you can be tired but still...) Been here a number of different times and it can really depend what you want and you can get it here. Sundays 2€ drinks...you cannot go wrong! but overall very cheap and the pub is actually really nice early in the afternoon/evening, then it picks up and get quite crowded and messy with good music. So I have to review Diceys The main issue - The bouncers. I have had a number of altercations, you can't stand there, that drink is being dangerously held, why are you doing this that and the other.. I have told a number of them to go and @)&) themselves and they have said "out". I explained politely I am a former kick boxer and if I go, everybody with me goes too. Sometimes we have gone here just to see how quickly we can be bothered by bouncers! It's also fun to wind them up by going in with any z lister friend or acquaintance you might have, name drop as you are being kicked out and you might be brought back in lol If you're 18-23 and want to get pissed before Coppers, go for it. I'm older now and I like parts of the bar and outdoor garden, If you can find a quieter night and a good table, you're flying for a short while, but remember to have a good disagreement with the bouncers before you go. I find if you compliment them on their luminous council jackets, they'll be more infuriated. I actually like Diceys, and I want to come back again, so bare that in mind. This gets 5 stars for venue, and 2 stars for staff. So 3.5 stars. But I've knocked off half a star because of the nonsense I've to endure every time I go here. Reassess your door men. They are disgruntled, and they behave like animals. They are driving away business, because of their own insecurities. While you're at it - take a good look at the people behind the bar. One or two of the barmen are good, the rest are shitheads. The service can be non-existant at times Now moving on from my rant, the outdoor area is fantastic. It is literally one of the coolest places in Dublin to have a drink. They also have top notch deals during the week. I once bought 3 drinks and got charged 6 euro. that is unbelievable. I thought the bartender was charging me 16 euro, but no - it was 6. You won't beat that price anywhere in Dublin. I really think that if I owned a club, I'd hire a "secret shopper" to report back on his experience dealing with my staff. You can have the coolest venue in the country, but if your staff suck, then so does my night. read more

I have never felt so old in my whole life! It doesn't matter that I am actually pretty old ;) the crowd was in between 12 and 15 ...that's what they looked like anyway. I don't know how most of them got away with ordering drinks!? You only need about a tenner to get completely hammered. Drinks are 2 euro?! This explains the young, student crowd. However, it doesn't explain the rude staff. It was a hassle to get in, queueing, checking our bags ( seriously, why would anyone bring in sneaky drinks if the drinks are actually cheaper to get inside???). Asking which party we were with. It felt like an interrogation. And it was only 6pm! Once we managed to get in (hallelujah ) the music was so loud, it was impossible to have any normal conversation. I don't think anyone (young or older) actually enjoys that at that time. We had our coats lying around the area that was reserved for us. At 7 a security guy came up to us ordering us to take them away immediately and put them in the cloakroom. He said it in such a manner I felt threatened. I came here because of a work thing.... I even used to come here quite often not so long ago. But I rather pay triple price in a nice environment than to go through this torture again. Maybe that's just my age speaking now though. Regrettably, Dicey Riley's 'best-kept-secret' reputation is no more, and on weekends this expansive beer garden is crowded with holiday-makers and the odd disgruntled locals. Still, its buzzing atmosphere is unsurpassed. Add friendly service and a private area into the mix, and it's no wonder that Dicey's is widely regarded as one of the finest beer gardens in the city. read more

Great outdoor area for sunny Friday drinks - pints are also cheap as chips at €4 during happy hour! Bar and wait staff seemed friendly and efficient too! A good mix of people - mostly after work crowd and music at a sensible volume where we can still have a proper chinwag. All of this is before 9 pm though (we left to get food) - I can imagine it gets rather busy and loud then! read more

Do you really have to pay to get in HERE...?! Five euro after 10pm - and I only paid it because I had to track someone down in this over-crowded meat market. It looks like a lot of peeps gather here after work for happy hour and then it turns into a massive night club. The beers are dirt cheap - I heard - and that's how they get ya! Other than that, it's a huge space that seems to keep on going. I can see why it attracts so many groups and a somewhat younger crowd - cheap drinks and cheap thrills.
