Dr. Goodale's office was it from the moment I first spoke to the receptionist Jessica. She was friendly, patient and easy to understand, which is really saying something these days. When I got the the office and sat down with D for my x-rays, she was very comforting and communicative, laying out everything I needed to do and checking in with me throughout to make sure I was good. Then Dr. Goodale came in with great energy and an obvious desire to 1. explain everything extremely clearly and patiently and 2. make sure I was at ease and comfortable. She did my cleaning personally and took my request seriously for caution around certain sensitive areas. She even asked if I was cool with the music they had playing. And then to top if off she gave me the best cleaning I've ever had - my teeth are prone to staining so they were looking pretty rough after a year gap between my last dentist visit. I had even been told by previous hygienists they couldn't do much about the stains. Dr. Goodale got them so white my wife was actually shocked because she had forgotten I had normal teeth. Really can't recommend this place enough I just with that all healthcare providers treated their customers with such grace and empathy, not to mentioned good old fashioned skill at their profession. The dentist used poor technique with the Novocain and the injection site became infected with a small legion on the jaw. The filling was done improperly as well, but the infection persisted for weeks. Poor and uninformed follow up. After losing faith in Manhasset Dental Arts I went to another dentist in the city who immediately addressed the issue and validated how horrible a job the prior dentist had done both on the simple procedure and the follow up. There were so many signs. Even the office staff and dental hygienists were unprofessional. I hope my review can help people avoid this same pain and waste of time.

While I expected my teeth to feel some pain for a few days, I did not expect my inner and outer lips to be burned. The dentist did not apologize or offer any sort of compensation for the injury and her failed services. Instead, she simply said that "this can happen with teeth whitening gel." I called to schedule a second appointment for a teeth cleaning. The front office receptionist…read moreinformed me that my account was deactivated, the system was down, preventing reactivation, and there were no available appointments for two months. When I inquired why my account was deactivated, she stated it was because I was upset about the cost of fillings and had said I wouldn't return. This is not accurate. During my first visit, I received a full-mouth X-ray and a teeth cleaning from a dentist (not Dr. Avanzato). The dentist reviewed the X-rays, said everything looked good, and recommended a return visit in six months. Before leaving the exam room, I asked about fillings to address a gap in my upper teeth due to receding gums. The dentist directed me to the front desk, where I received a quote that seemed exorbitant. I mentioned that my previous dentist had billed my insurance plan and co-pay for significantly less and indicated I wouldn't get the work done there. The receptionist was not present during my consultation with the dentist. Despite my corrections, the receptionist continued to claim I had refused treatment. I ended the conversation because it was unproductive. After this, I decided not to return to the practice and went to retrieve my dental records. The receptionist claimed she had already emailed a copy of my records and mailed a letter on the same day of my service. I never received either. She again insisted I needed two fillings, which I hadn't requested. I asked her to just send me the records. Later that day, I received an email with a copy of my X-rays and a note that a duplicate letter had been mailed. Two days later, I received a letter, dated the day of my service, stating that I would be better served by seeking another dentist due to a breakdown in the doctor-patient relationship. I had already decided to seek another dentist, but this situation makes me question who makes decisions at this practice, the dentist or the receptionist, who seemed to be providing misleading and inaccurate information.
