Today, 11-4-25 I went for the Tenderloin special. They must have had a different cook. The French fries were barely warm and tasted like they had been dipped back in the fryer to warm them up. During the week there are zero issues but the past few weekends it's been nothing but disappointment. We placed and ordered for a hot pastrami sandwich with no tomatoes even made sure they got the order for at pick up and the girl said yes. Got it home and it was a chicken parm Stromboli and it was nasty. Let it go, but tonight we went in to eat ordered the DC chicken bowl with white gravy and a hot pastrami no tomatoes. When it came out the pastrami had tomatoes and the rind still in the meat, the dc chicken bowl had brown gravy. The dc bowl was sent back 20 mins later it came back out with gray colored gravy the was extremely watery. I told them to take it back I didn't want it and the waitress was extremely rude about it. Super homey restaurant . Went with some locals, invoked memories of growing up in the Midwest. Definite a subtle slice of Americana!! The service was a bit "stand offish". We obviously looked like outsiders, so that probably has something to do with it. lol How the double burger with coleslaw. The burger was fantastic and the bun had a great texture to it. This place will nickel and dime you to death. They also need to take time to train to train their service staff. We travel to Princeton yearly to see family. Dick Clarks has been a yearly tradition as it has been something my husband has enjoyed. This will be the last time for sure. 1. They have no kid's meals. I paid $3 for my 8-year-olds grilled cheese, and another $4.25 to add french fries to her meal, making a kid's meal $7.25 plus tax, not including her drink ($4, making her meal $11.25). Outrageous! 2. Each one of our other meals had to peiced together as well. This made my husband's cheeseburger + waffle fries a $12.50 meal (plus another $3.50 for his drink making $16 total). My Ham and Cheese + Waffle Fries became an $11.50 meal (thankful I had water to drink). My 14 year olds salad was $9.75, with the addition of a $3.50 drink making it $13.25! 3. Our waitress barely spoke. She failed to say any greetings. She did not repeat our order back to us to ensure it was correct (which proved to be an error), and it seemed overall that waitressing was simply not a job for her. 4. My daughter asked for tomatoes added to her salad, and chicken to be added to her salad. She received it with TWO tomatoes in it, and no chicken. When we received it, I wasn't bothering with getting more tomatoes, but I did want the chicken removed from our bill. The waitress simply stated "You didn't order chicken." She most definitely did, waitress may not have heard her, which is why the order is typically repeated back for clarity. We live in Kansas City, and our familiar with eating out. Ill spend a little more in a family owned restaurant. I DO NOT appreciate being taken advantage of though, by being nickel and dimed to death. Although sitting across from us were two racist overweight women making comments about everything I did, thinking I couldn't hear them or speak English.. apparently. Terrible, went there exploring the town, ordered the special which was ribeye sandwich, it was awful the steak was tough, lacking flavor, they don't bring rolls to the table while you wait for your meal, because they don't do that! This last visit was good. Food was good and staff was great but that's not always the case. They have a lot of kids working there and one evening we went there at about 7:30 on a Saturday just to get milkshakes and they told us they were closing which this place never closes till it's supposed to at 10:00. Went up to the window and got an order drove approximately 1.5 miles back to where I worked and the french fries were stone cold and had probably been sitting a long time on the grill they were terrible. I got the 1/3 Angus burger it was a premade burgers it tasted like cardboard. If you can avoid Dick Clark's was not very good. read more

Our waitress was so friendly, 5/5 stars for her! Given how busy the restaurant was, I was impressed with her ability to multitask, answer questions, etc. We got food to-go and it came super fast; not much waiting at all. I think every time I go to do the walk up window that the service gets worse and worse. Waited 15 minutes tonight for someone to take my order, there was nobody else in line and 3 people in the kitchen that definitely saw me. Recently went with a group of friends, we had the private dining room. That part was great. I had been told the tenderloin was the way to go. I ordered the ribeye. It wasn't horrible and I have had better. Instead of sides, I got a side ceasar salad and It was 3.99 more. That made it 20 bucks for a mediocre steak and salad. 2.89 for an ice tea. OVERPRICED! I grew up eating at this restaurant, and always loved it's food. In recent years it has gotten to where I rarely eat there. Last week I ordered 2 double cheese burgers and 2 large fries, that's all. My bill: a little shy of TWENTY DOLLARS. The burgers were tiny and way over cooked, very tough and crispy. Dick Clarks used to be one of my very favorite places to stop by when I came through Princeton. I've noticed that the past few years it's been a little "hit or miss". However, overall, it's still one of my top choices for local eats! The breaded tenderloin and nacho bites with a vanilla coke float is my favorite indulgence. Anything with ice cream is great, actually. The waitresses are always fantastic. The prices really teeter on the high side, in my opinion. All in all, I give it a thumbs up. The waitresses and interior design is great. But the food is terrible, my grandmother got a blackened salmon, it was torched! The outside was nearly impossible to cut into. The inside was okay but cold and hard! My uncle asked for a steak, and sent it back three times because it was cold. When he finally got it back it was super fatty and still cold. Dick Clarks Family Restaurant is a must if you ever make it to Princeton, Indiana. It is has a large spacious dining room but is never loud and always comfortable.. Dick Clarks also features a banquet room and a meeting room that are available. Prices are very reasonable for this family run restaurant that began in 1961 as just a drive-in that had homemade ice cream. The restaurant is still a very popular place for ice cream and a root beer, but the food is just as good. Everything that my family or I have had has been amazing. We have never had any problems with anything, wait staff has been wonderful and we have had no problems with food. Outback there is a large private lighted parking lot. Whenever we visit my Grandma we have to go to Dick Clarks, it is just that good. read more
