I absolutely love dive bars and I have driven past this one for years and it was on my list to stop in for a while now. It was as great as I hoped. No overpriced fancy cocktails, no pretentious leather aprons on mixologists, never even heard of Peychauds and would probably get you punched in the mouth. So we're sitting at another bar when someone says "we HAVE to do karaoke". I fire up Yelp, do a search, and this place pops up. "There's no way there's a place named dickweeds", I said to myself....so I called. "Weeds" said the girl who answered. "Seriously? The place...is named Dick Weeds?" I asked. "Yep. The owner's name is Richard Weeds." she replied. "I'll validate that later. Says here you have karaoke..." "Yep, starts at 9:30" "That's all I need to know for now." and I turned and announced we were going to "Dick Weeds"...and people looked at me like I was nuts. Address loaded into various GPS systems, and we were on our way. Now...imagine your stereotypical townie dive bar. Maybe 10 or 12 regulars in the place. Lighting's pretty dark. Plenty of open tables. Clearly not a place on the hot list in downtown Mt Clemens... ...now imagine 30 or so people walking into that bar from a comic con, complete with a few "names" (guests from the con), 6 people in full Ghostbusters outfits, and all louder than hell...and you can imagine the looks we got. It was like Weird Science when Gary, Wyatt and Lisa walked into the Kandy Bar... However, once we took over the entire back half of the bar and settled in, and the waitress realized we were strapping in for a great night of drinking and fun, we couldn't have asked for a better night. It was the karaoke DJs first night, and even though he didn't have some of the songs we were looking for, he was willing to listen to us as we walked him through how to find, and download, what we wanted. And yep, the owner's name really is Richard Weeds, and this really is a fun little place to hang out. You know it's been a good night when you wake up the next morning to Facebook friend requests from the bartender and your waitress waiting for you. This place used to be called the 299 North (hint: that's the address). The name changed, but the friendly crowd still remains. I stopped in recently and had a beer. As is typical, I usually don't know any of the patrons or bartenders, so it it usually 'just one' and I'm on my way. Nice place, worthy of a stop on a road trip, or if you're just tooling around town looking for a friendly watering hole. read more

TLDR: Great dive bar. Really friendly owners and clientele. Horseshoe pits outside. Karaoke. Dancing. Cheap drinks. Love this place! Both times my wife and I ended up here we shut the place down. The owners are super friendly and so are the patrons who act like the place is one big house party that you're attending. The first time we went had dancing, last night it was karaoke. How can you not go to a bar named Dick Weeds? The only motivation behind my visit was the name. The staff and the owner (Richard Weeds) are very nice and hilarious people. There is karaoke available, and the atmosphere is very divey. You won't be breaking bank for your drinks, and it's not a pretentious bar so you can even come here alone and make friends within an hour. So if you're looking for a casual bar with cheap drinks, great service, and karaoke, definitely come visit this place. read more

This is a great hole in the wall bar which probably has some of the nicest regulars around. Richard is an old bar pro and knows his stuff. A bigger parking lot and maybe renovate the place would be my only wishes. read more

Went here on a Thursday night at about 9 or 10 o'clock with a few friends, mostly because the name intrigued us. We knew it would have a dive bar feel but we didn't have any expectations beyond that. A few of the people smoking outside gave us weird looks when we walked in, almost like we didn't "belong" there. Once we got inside we put our coats on a chair and went up to the bar. We stood there for a minute while the bartender was ignoring us, and then watched as the bartender immediately started serving someone else. After we finally got his attention, you could tell that he was extremely drunk. My friend likes beer and saw they had some on tap, so she asked for a common beer (not sure if that specific one was on tap), and they didn't have it. Then she asked for one of the beers on tap, and it was "out". The bartender then immediately started serving someone else that just walked up without even glancing at the two other people (us) that had been standing there the whole time. We also heard him swearing at the other people. After that, we looked at each other and left. If I ever come here again, I really hope there is a different bartender. read more

I came to this bar because the name intrigued me. I tried to order a drink, and the bar tender completely ignored me. While i was there, I noticed that there was a benefit going on. I talked to the people running it, and I overheard the man say that they were going to be setting up for the bands he hired to play for it. He asked them if they could turn down the music, but instead, they turned it up even louder. While I was getting money out of the ATM, I couldn't help but notice that you could completely see inside the women's bathroom. Absolutely no privacy. It looked like there were a few regulars there, and it seemed as if they weren't very welcoming to outsiders. I tried to walk through, and no one would let me through. There was absolutely no place to walk. Seems like this place should be renamed "Dickheads," because that pretty much sums up everyone who works there. read more
