We are zoo people so we were happy when visiting friends that this zoo was close by. It looks very small from the outside, but there is a great variety of animals. The paths wander through the zoo, and signage is great. We were able to buy some lettuce to feed the giraffes which was very fun. You could also buy food to feed the goats at the petting zoo. The animals seemed very content, although many of the exhibits seemed rather small, and not all that clean. I was very impressed with how many varieties of animals they had for where this is located. Great little zoo that I am very happy I got to enjoy with friends.

While we have a pretty awesome zoo here in Houston, it's always fun to visit other cities' zoos and see what they have to offer. This zoo definitely didn't disappoint! While it was a little chilly when we visited (we're from Texas, so 37 degrees is cold, okay?), the animals were totally used to it and out and about in their confinements. Our favorite animals we spotted were the giraffes, kangaroos, and lions. It was also really neat to see how the peacocks were just everywhere! They were wandering all over the place - but steering clear of the tiger cage of course. This is a great place to visit if you have little ones or are an animal lover yourself.

I love our little zoo here in town. It is a small regional zoological facility that has a good variety of exhibits and animals. For me, it's a great place to drop in and talk a walk with interesting sights and things to do. Like most zoos, they are extremely kid-friendly and offer many educational opportunities for kids up until their teens. They also do birthday parties with animals and their keepers for kids 3-10. The prices are reasonable. The $79 pass got me admission for me and a guest for a whole year and included 2 free admissions and $2 off of paid guest tickets. Plus 10% off on food.

Great little zoo for the smaller area. Sad the hippo is gone, but the giraffe encounter is always fun!

Such a fun place for adults and kiddos alike! Prices are $15 for adults $10 for kids 3 and up or you can purchase a 12 month pass for $104 and go as many times as you want which we totally did! I didnt expect it to be so big and to have so many animals to see, ive been to my fair of zoos but was surprised by many different species that I havent seen before. Super cool, definitely recommend! Also if you have little ones I would also say to get a stroller or rent one they have because its a long walk and they get tired after a while.

Fun for the family. It's actually almost as fun to listen to the customers who know more than the staff lol. Visited here off and on for years and now my kids can enjoy it. The staff is very friendly and informative.

This is one of the prettier zoos we have visited. Staff is friendly, and the animal exhibits were very nice. Checking out the cheetahs with the quarter-operated telescope was pretty cool. Mountain lion was awesome. River otters swam right up to the glass. My kids loved feeding the animals! We spent about 2.5 hours here, but we could have stayed longer! We missed the train ride, but that's ok. We rented a stroller, got a pressed penny, and found some souvenirs. Great day!

This is an okay zoo, not as big as you'd expect for a city of our size. Lots of the exhibits are fairly small, and the animals seem to hide a lot. I'd say it's more of an exercise trail with a chance to spot an animal that an actual "zoo experience." There are some cool things to see here when you can see them, a bit pricey so if you plan on going more than 3 times a year it's actually cheaper to get a season pass. I do wish they'd bring back Spooktacular though!

Ok for a smaller town zoo. The zoo keys are fun, but the train is seriously lacking.

Fun zoo with an excellent elephant exhibit. It is really fun to feed the giraffes. Does not take long time to go through the whole zoo.

By far the best part of the experience was the large butterfly arena with different butterflies from around the world. They give you this flower connected to a nectar vile and the butterflies basically come to you. In addition you get a laminated sheet which tells you what butterflies are in there so you can identify them. There are so many butterflies you almost forget about the pretty hummingbirds around. There is a cool mirror maze, 3D movie and slide to keep your kids occupied. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. You can tell they care about their job. Prices paid for admissions which was a little pricier than expected: Child- $11.00 per ticket Adult - $32.00 per ticket Senior- $29.00 per ticket However, it's one of those prices you pay that you feel goes to a good cause to help the butterflies and other animals there. Overall, it's worth the visit if you are into that sort of thing or want to try something different than mini golf :). Just getting photo ops with my children and the butterflies is a mom and dad's dream if you can imagine lol. A great time and experience!

However, even with expansion work going on and things unavailable that we were excited for during our visit it was still a five star visit. The Butterfly Palace is an absolute must if you are visiting the area. We paid high price for so many attractions and this one was by far a favorite. The flight of the monarch's 3D movie was such a quick and educational film and the small reptile area had wonderful staff. Thank you to Evan that was the most patient and kind employee that we encountered while there. She answered all of my toddler's questions without feeling dismissed or in a hurry to move on. The butterfly room was beautiful. Educational for both adults and children with identification cards, binoculars, and magnifying glasses. I could have stayed there much longer than we did waiting for butterflies to land and admiring their beauty. It was truly a fantastic experience for all ages. Staff was friendly, welcoming, and helpful. My only thing I would say is how crowded it gets. I felt like at one point it was shoulder to shoulder. I'm not sure they have limits on the amount of people in the room at one time or a way that they move people through. Either way 5/5 or 10/10!

We got to feed the nurse sharks which was an awesome experience, and feeding the lemurs was absolutely incredible! Josh did an awesome job with answering our questions and giving us treats for the lemurs. By far, my favorite was the dingoes though. Emily was in with us the whole time and told us about them. I hadn't known a whole lot about dingoes but I left with an absolute love for these beautiful creatures! Had so much fun petting them and loving on them, especially Loki! The lion exhibit was so frustrating because they look depressed but also the glass was completely caked in dirt. (My video shows this). The lemurs were the only ones that looked happy. Most of the animals were depressing to look at. I feel so bad for them. The fish tanks throughout the facility were filthy and covered in algae to the point that you could barely see the fish... dripping down the glass and floating on the tops, waste buildup visible throughout the tanks, which was concerning and honestly heartbreaking for the fish. Very unhealthy. I mentioned my concern to Holly the manager. She then called over the aquatics employee and he agreed that they are very dirty, but they are last on his list. Instead of addressing my concern professionally, Holly became aggressive and hostile and repeatedly told me not to leave a review. The situation escalated to the point where I felt uncomfortable trying to leave because she was blocking my exit. I told her that if she did not move, I would have to call the police. Her response was, "OH! You haven't seen hostile Holly yet!!!," which I considered threatening and completely inappropriate. All of this occurred simply because I expressed concern about the condition of the fish tanks and the welfare of the fish. Customer concerns should be handled respectfully, not with intimidation. This place has a lot of bad reviews talking about the same thing we noticed. (I attached a few.) How is this place even open?? Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this establishment.

When you walk in, they scan your tickets and then have you take a picture with the giant octopus. Next, they give you some 3-D glasses and have you watch a 4-D introductory video. It was cute and fun to feel the vibrations and wind. The actual aquarium is actually smaller than other aquariums and can take you less than 30 minutes to walk through. While we were at the gift shop, another member of the group and I decided to check out our group photo. We followed all the directions from the signs and waited for an employee to come over to the counter. However, what we didn't expect was the employee (longer blonde hair, maybe 16-17 years old) to walk another group over and then proceed to tell us that she wasn't going to help us because we didn't follow directions. When I asked what directions we didn't follow, she pointed to the sign and said that we went into the wrong entrance. When I told her that we did go through that entrance and had been waiting to be helped, she proceeded to continue to be rude to us and directed her attention to the other group. We ended up leaving without seeing what our group photo looked like. Overall, this aquarium is just okay and probably won't be returning next time I am in Missouri.
