The food was fine But...No dedicated curbside pickup up spots. Without going inside the store there is no system to notify staff you are there to pickup. Also they can't confirm if time you want order is ready when you get there. Corporate and management need to update curbside pickup system. read more

My boss and I were out in the area helping a client when we decided to stop by here afterwards for lunch. I'd never been to one and it'd been 10 years since he went. Perfect excuse to go, right? And I have to say we both enjoyed it. The place itself isn't huge but was very clean. Their menu is bigger than I'd expected and features lots of different barbecue options from sandwiches, platters, meats by the pound and 1/2 pound, loaded baked potatoes, and lots more. They also do large orders and catering for big events. You order your food at the counter and the staff will bring it to your table when it's done. I ordered the Texas brisket with two sides, barbecue beans and cole slaw. My boss ordered a loaded baked potato with brisket on top. We also decided to try the wings (with Carolina barbecue and Texas hot barbecue sauces on the side) and a cheddar jalapeno sausage. We hardly waited long at all before everything was ready and really good. My brisket was really good but a touch dry in some spots. Nothing some Texas hot barbecue sauce couldn't help. The wings were so good that they didn't need sauce but it made them even better. My boss definitely liked his baked potato. Excellent place for a barbecue fix and one I could see going to again, of course, with my lady next time. read more

We first ate at Dickey's about 8 years ago and It was very good. I know this location was closed and has reopened so maybe different owners(?) Regardless, it is dark and ugly, didn't get a greeting or a smile from the cashier. Ordered the Mac Stack with brisket, $10.99 on the menu, when we got the receipt they charged $2 extra for the brisket (see photos) there is also a weird $.39 charge for a "Renew/Recycle Program"?? I have never seen this charge on anything before. The brisket and my husband's pork were terrible. Not enough sauce in the world to make the dried out meat edible. The only thing worth eating was the Mac and cheese. No wonder they weren't busy on a nice Sunday afternoon. read more

I decided to try Dickey's Barbecue for a second time, hoping it was just a bad day the last time. But I have to say it is probably the absolute worst barbecue I've ever had. I ordered a half lb of the brisket and a half lb of the pulled pork and both were so dry and flavorless that I ended up throwing it all away. How could it be that bad? I just don't understand how they can keep a restaurant open and sell such a sub par product. No third chances. It was a total waste of good money. read more

I wrote my review 7 years ago and have been here many times. They seem to be under a new franchise owner. Waffle fries have been replaced with basic bland fries. They don't put fries, okra or onion tanglers in a paper sleeve anymore. They just throw it on the paper wrapping. Plates are now non-existent. The worker cutting up the food did not wear gloves. The pulled pork was fine just small in portion size in the sandwich. The sides were fine just the portions were small. The mac n cheese was not as creamy as in the past. They didn't fill up the plastic containers. There is no more ice cream machine. The sweet tea cannister was empty. I asked about the ice cream machine when our food was brought to us which took a crazy amount of time and the person "growled at me". I used an entertainment coupon for a BOGO offer that said you need to buy 2 drinks. I brought in "yellow cups" for the normal $1 drink price (their normal policy at all locations) and was told I had to buy the $3.50+ drinks in the same cup. I said I never had to at that location. They "faked" calling their owner (I would have heard it) and just came back saying he said whatever the paper said. I paid them their extra money. I can afford it. When leaving they didn't say anything to us. My son told me that they thanked everyone else for coming. I have been to the Mason Montgomery one dozens of times. I used to work in Mason. I always had a pleasant experience there. Without the BOGO this would have been almost $35. I know food prices are up but for the amount of food we received not worth it. Normally we go to City BBQ at Eastgate but thought we would make a change for tonight plus we were looking forward to their ice cream machine. I will not patronize a business that have nasty employees that don't follow basic health rules. I forgot to mention that I saw him (the one without gloves) behind the counter stuffing his mouth with food in plain view of us. Go in back if you are going to do that! BTW we were the only customers in their. There were a few takeout orders. Jim the owner at CIty BBQ in Eastgate appreciates his customers. This company has poor customer service while making it appear otherwise. I posted a review on 12/14/23 about the disappointing / borderline deceptive product which was advertised as brisket chili cheese fries and contained less than an ounce of meat. I received a response from their "customer service" expressing their apologies and asking me to email an included email address. Of course, this response shows on Yelp as if they are quite responsive. I emailed them within a couple of hours of their post as requested. It is now over 2 weeks later and I still have received no response to my email. The moral of the story - if you have a problem do not expect any actual attempt to make it right. read more

My husband and i always buy Groupons, living social, or cincysaver in order to venture out and try new restaurants, so my choice to purchase was fairly easy as barbecue is one of my favorite foods. So on our way to our sons baseball game we decided TK stop in the Amelia location to sit down and eat before attending his game. My husband went with the westerner sandwich with onion Tangier's (which were good but a little salty) side of coleslaw and i ordered a three meet dinner with barbecue beans and potato casserole which were all so yummy! I do have to brag about the roll that comes with the dinners because it melts in your mouth amazingly soft and tasty i could of eaten several of those for sure! The bbq pulled pork is really good. It's tender. They put it on a warm buttery bun. I think the meat is kept warm and tender by wrapping it in plastic. The sauce is tangy. There's sweet, original and hot and spicy. I like them all. I dip the sandwich in a different sauce with each bite because I just can't decide. Plus I eat less sauce because it doesn't soak through the meat and the bun. They have a nice tart lemonade which is also sweet. The ice cream is a nice bonus. It's self serve vanilla. Ice cream cones are provided too. It's all so good. read more

[TLDR]A counter service chain BBQ with a lot of similarity to City BBQ, but not quite as good[/TLDR] I've stopped into DIckey's a couple of times now and have to say that while I can't say the food was bad, it has been consistently underwhelming, particularly for the price point. If you are in this area and want some real bbq, you can certainly get some here, but I'd recommend you drive a further few miles to Eastgate for City BBQ, or (better still) a couple miles more than that to get to Just Q'in in Newtown. These other options are more or less at the same price point, but serve a better product Interestingly, Dickey's has some things in common with both of the above aside from offering counter-serviced smoked meats. Like City, they are a chain, and also like City, they have warm pots full of three different kinds of bbq sauce, so you sauce your sandwich or plate yourself. Like City, pickles and onions are offered with the sandwiches, but at City these are serve yourself, take as much as you want, whereas at Dickey's, these are packed behind the counter with your order. Dickey's similarity with Just Q'in is the focus on Christianity. While their sandwiches are not named after biblical folks as they are at Just Q'in, Dickey's has a full rack of free religious pamphlets very near the front entrance, and christian rock music playing loudly. I personally don't think either business is intrusive or pushy with this, but I suppose it'd be annoying to some. One thing I really don't like about Dickey's in the brisket, which I found tough dry, and leathery. By default, they serve it diced, which I find odd, but you can order it sliced if you want. The pulled pork is much better. They also have ribs, turkey, and two kinds of sausage, but I haven't tried any of these yet. Arguably the best things about Dickey's is free soft serve ice cream and kids eat free on Sundays. read more

Disclaimer: Door Dash Delivery. Unfortunately, we couldn't have been more disappointed. I'll speak for myself out of the 4 of us: I ordered the brisket / turkey combo with green beans. Because it was Door Dash, I won't even mention the temperature. Bleh. The brisket tasted like salted cardboard and the texture was that of a rubber inner tube. I would expect less fat on a Tuesday night gentleman's club dancer. The turkey made me feel as though I was going to wake up in the middle of the night with cramps and a stomach ache... and I did. It was sorely under-cooked, lacked all semblance of flavor, and absolutely atrocious as far as quality of meat goes. For the price, our crew could have gone to Kroger and whipped up a meal for a 1/3 the price and had a better time doing it and enjoyed the food. The portion they gave us was despicable. The brisket looked like ground beef and fit in about 3 tablespoons worth, and I got two miniature slices of turkey. The green beans looked like blended broccoli and I couldn't even stomach finishing off the tiny styrofoam cup it came in. Dickey's (apparently the quickest growing BBQ franchise in the nation) is a delicious fast-casual addition to the East Side of Cincinnati. The staff is phenomenally friendly and was willing to make suggestions for me as a first-timer. I'm a long-time fan of City Barbecue but these two places have their differences. Dickey's has a much wider selection of meats and much more appealing salad options. I also like the fact that there's always free ice cream. This isn't a place if you're looking to count calories. The pulled pork was cooked correctly but again, no flavor without sauce. The brisket was severely overlooked which didn't affect the flavor, just the ability to slice. I felt the prices were on the high side too. The same meal at Walts BBQ on Colerain was probably $4-$5 cheeper. Jalapeño beans were outstanding. we had a bit of a bumpy experience, but i won't jump to conclusions. today was their second day of business ... ever. the food was par for the course. -1 for location. we had about an hour drive to get there (rush hour on a friday). +1 for packing the house. there were 30-40 people in front of us in line when we arrived (6:15pm on a friday). +1 for truly smoking their meat. -1 for letting too much smoke escape into the seating area. the smoker is only ~6 feet away from where you place your order. one customer in front of us had trouble keeping her eyes open due to so much smoke. -1 for it taking 55 minutes from walking in the door to sitting down to eat. we were halfway through the line after 25 minutes, and then in the front of the line after another 15. it took 15 minutes from the time we ordered to when we sat down. a couple folks in front of us had large take-out orders, which is understandable. however, it appeared as if the staff members were still figuring out how to serve patrons efficiently. +1 for having tons of staff there. almost too many staffers ... they were nearly tripping over each other. +1 for gracious, friendly staff. not a single staff member appeared frustrated or angry, despite the clear craziness caused by scores of people hungry for barbecue. +1 for dealing with a large volume of customers. when we got close to the front of the line, the owner (patrick) yelled out to the crowd, apologetically, that they're about to run out of pork. (there's a sign that clearly states that, since they make all of their meat in-house daily, sometimes they run out.) patrick told us that they went through 38 pork butts today. that's a lot of butts! thankfully, i got the last helping of pork. (sorry to the folks behind me!) -1 for getting my wife's order wrong ... i think. she ordered a "quarter plate", and that's what the staffers made for her. when we got to the cashier, they told us that it was actually the daily special (which is $1 more expensive). i didn't want to cause a fuss, so i just paid it. regardless of whether they made the wrong plate for my wife, we paid for more than we ordered. +0 for prices. seems on-par with many common barbecue joints. we escaped with meals for two for around $21. -1 for congested drinks area. the barbecue sauces are kept warm near the drinks, so they're not super-accessible. serve-yourself using a ladle. -1 for our food no longer being hot by the time we sat down. likely due to how long it look us to get through the ordering line. +0 for decent barbecue sauces. nothing to call home about. +1 for good waffle fries. lightly seasoned. +0 for portion size. not too small, not overly generous. +1 my wife liked the pork. i thought it was average. +0 for average beef brisket +1 for cleanliness +1 for free yellow plastic drinking cups +1 for free ice cream with every meal. vanilla soft serve. +1 for attentive, friendly staff. we spotted the owner (patrick) greeing many guests. another staffer cleared our table for us. yet another was passing out samples in line to the folks waiting. many more behind the scenes. many of these above gripes will be solved over time. as the staff gets more training and more experience, many of these things will smooth over. at that point, i'd consider updating my review to 4 stars. however, even then, i'm still not sure i'm ready to rank this barbecue among the city's top three. recommended if you're local. otherwise, no need for a drive. read more

This is our go-to place when we have guests in town or need a quick and delicious meal. We always get the family pack that comes with two 1lb meats, three medium sides, and rolls. Our favorites are the brisket and pulled pork. I love their coleslaw as it is very similar to KFC. My toddler cannot get enough of the mac and cheese. The only downside is the chips and cookies that they offer on the menu. They are prepackaged Lays and Grandma's Cookies, not homemade. Blah! However, if you choose to eat inside the restaurant, it comes with a free soft serve ice cream cone! Also, if you order online for pickup, it's ready in 15 minutes or less. BBQ is a food that I can eat all day, every day. Ever since I heard that Dickey's was coming to Amelia, I was excited to check out what they had to offer. I decided to check it out after the crowds died down a little, one week after it's Grand Opening. LOCATION: Right off State Route 125 in front of the Pierce Point Cinemas. Can't miss it, it's right down the way from Chipotle, AT&T, and Sweet Frog. FOOD: I had the special, which consisted of their spicy jalapeno sausage, brisket, two sides, a drink, and a roll, which was $8.99- not a bad price. The brisket and the sausage were hot and juicy, and the two sides, waffle fries and macaroni complemented it well. The roll was probably the best I've had at a restaurant- no lie. I tried all three sauces they had to offer, liked all three but the Hot & Spicy was by far my favorite. Portion sizes were just right to fill me up. The food was served fast, fresh, and most importantly, affordable. It was probably the best BBQ that I've had in some time, and I look forward to checking out some of their other offerings! read more

The catering person quit after taking the order and didn't leave the order with anyone. They were supposed to deliver Sunday at 12:30pm and at 12:45 I decided to call them. The owner dropped everything he was doing and packed the catering order and personally delivered the meal to us at zero charge, saving the day. Needless to say, I am leaving excellent reviews everywhere I can find, and will be frequenting the Amelia store as often as I can. read more

I'm not impressed with Dickey's and think that City Barbecue has much better tasting meats and more flavorful sides. I had the turkey breast and it tasted like lunchmeat only thicker. My wife had the pulled pork, which she said was good, but only because they were out of both brisket and ribs when we were there! No one told us this until we were already at the counter ready to order. For our sides, my wife got the baked beans which we both tasted and thought was very bland. I also got the caesar side salad but it came in a cup instead of a bowl so I had to dump it out on the tray to eat it. I do like the selection of bbq sauces and the free soft serve ice cream, but their food leaves a lot to be desired. It also doesn't help that they store their meats in plastic wrap in a heated oven all day. read more

We are ALWAYS on the lookout for good barbecue, and we have certain things we seek in this quest for barbecue deliciousness. We figured out since Dickey's has survived in the area for awhile now, that we should finally see what they can offer us. Upon arriving, I was worried that I would hear Christian music or see pamplets by the door, but was pleased that this was NOT the case at all. That is good for a whole star in my book. The second star I give is for the exemplary service we received from every person with whom we interacted. The young man wielding the carving knife was informative and congenial. When I asked for my brisket lean, he didn't flinch. As I watched him unwrap what should be a dark somewhat smoky brisket with dark BBQ bark on the outside from its tight commercial plastic wrap they hold the meat in between customers, it really grossed me out. Forgive my slang, but whose idea was this? Is this because you don't sell through fast enough that you fear it will "dry out?" For me, part of the joy is various textures in a brisket, from the tender center all the way through to the "smoke ring" and on to the crusty somewhat dry bark on the exterior. That is what shows me they know what any other good barbecue place is doing. It was just wet throughout and what should have been allowed to drain away was making this previously-cooked meat marinate and turn into pot roast. This darling young man trimmed and trimmed until I said, " I really can't eat that. It's too wet an looks fatty. Can I switch to chicken?" He didn't miss a beat, and replied "You can't go wrong with chicken!" Well, he was wrong. He just didn't know any better. Once again he produced what appeared to be a formerly-smoked chicken breast from somewhere and cut through the several layers of tight plastic wrap with the tip of his knife and into the chicken. By now I didn't want the chicken either but since hubby had not watched his turkey treated the same way, I busied myself asking about the yummy-sounding onion rings. The young lady at the fryer had them ready in what seemed like seconds, but I realize I had spent a couple of minutes watching the young man try his best to slice me some good meat. Those onion rings were delicious, but a bit rough on the stomach. That's just me, though, and I would eat them again in an instant! Okay, back to the meat; hubby was convinced that his turkey was NOT sliced turkey breast and that it was something more like a pressed loaf. I had to assure him that this is a problem of their bizarre wrap-everything-in-plastic holding and storage method. Both his turkey breast and my chicken breast were both devoid of any good texture at all. Wrapping the meat this way forces the juiced to stay in the meat and turn it into soft nondescript meat that would be perfect for someone who loves barbecue but has few or no teeth. Perhaps babies who are teething could eat their first chicken here, but alas, there are no side dishes baby-appropriate. The baked(?) beans were a throwback to when less-talented relatives would open a few old cans of Van Camp's Pork and Beans and add a little bit of spices and heat them up and call them "baked beans" at the family reunion. I need my baked beans to be thick and saucy and have some good smoky distinctive barbecue flavors in there. These had none of that. They served a little roll with the dinner which was good. The sauces were only available via small condiment cups from the beverage bar. Most folks enjoy having squirt bottles at the table so they don't have to commit to a cup of sauce and throw away plastic cups. The self-serve beverage bar had the great chewy ice extruded constantly from its freezing innards. The drink cups were huge and brilliant yellow covered with Dickey's logo and numbers, hoping that when you see them in your neighbor's recycling bin that you will be curious enough to read it and go straight to Dickey's. If you do that you may be as disappointed as I was. I expected so much more. A previous reviewer or two has suggested that you go ahead and drive to Eastgate for City Barbecue or if you have time go to Eli's in the East End. Those places know what they are doing. They serve up a plate of delicious barbecue that has been smoked long, held properly, and served the day it was cooked. Please keep in mind my above diatribe is all just MY and hubby's opinion of our first and what will be only Dickey's experience. Don't let the lure of a free vanilla soft serve ice cream cone get you. You and your family deserve better, don't you? read more

We eat here frequently, good barbeque close to home. Tonight I wanted to take the time to leave some kind words. We had a great experience with super customer service tonight (03/23/17) when were were there around 7 PM. The staff seemed to go out of their way to take care of us, make sure our orders were great, and provide an all around great experience.
