They were super helpful and spent time on the phone with me prior to coming out to understand what we wanted before arriving, thus using time efficiently. I highly recommend Dickinson Electric Inc. for all your electric needs. I am an out of town owner selling a Beaverton condo. I had to rely on internet searches for opinions on good companies to hire for the repairs requested from a buyer. I called two electric repair companies. I sent the buyer's inspection report to each with the list of repairs. One of the items was to put anti oxidant grease on panel aluminum wires. One of the companies I contacted for a bid decided to instead bid replacing all the breakers to the tune of $1150. I have no idea why other than it was easier than applying the grease or a way to run up the cost. Their total bid was nearly $2000 and they wanted 1/2 the money up front. The second company decided not to grease the wires at all - too much trouble he said and not necessary as it was not required by code. He did not even address two other issues on the repair list and he wanted $1100. I told the buyers I would have all the issues they requested fixed. These companies were recommended on Yelp. Can't always rely on Yelp I found out but you can trust this review without a doubt. Thankfully I did more research and found Dickinson Electric Inc. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The owner answered my call right away. He took all my information and as it was a Friday he said my job would be looked at on the following Monday. He also said he would have a fully equipped truck and if I liked the bid they could start the job same day[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Wow. I was impressed. I was even more impressed by the electrician Michael who did the job. He was polite, smart, and kept me informed of his findings and took plenty of pictures as he worked. Their quote was $680 a bit more than 1/2 of the lowest bid from the company who was not even doing a full repair! Michael even went above and beyond. He noticed a blown outlet not even mentioned on the inspection report and fixed that. He changed other outlet covers that were damaged as he walked throughout the condo to do a full inspection of his own. Everything was fixed the same day. No upfront payment required. There was a serious problem with a 240 outlet. It got scorched from overheating. They made sure there was no damaged wire remaining and replaced the breaker to better match clothes dryers made today rather than 50 years ago. This company was one called at the beginning of the snow event in Portland, OR, in February of 2021! The owner of the company, Larry, came out on Monday, to assess the damage to our masthead pipe and the wiring that was still attached to the main PGE pole at the street. Note that we did not cease to have power from this event, except when the whole area was without power. Otherwise, being still attached, but pulled away from holding brackets, and laying on the ground, and wire still connected to main pole, we had power when all in area had power! It was obviously the issue of getting a new holding pipe, re-insurrection of wires, and new metal securing brackets! A fairly simple job. The owner, Larry, said it wouldn't be a difficult fix, and said it would cost about $2100 to do. He said that he would be in touch very soon, and left. On Thursday, a company that was not employed by Dickensons' directly (they were basically a 'substitute' sublet company' that Dickensons' called, when the area needed more help--and was NOT their employees!). This company, with a lead electrician by the name, Daniel (I believe he was from Scapoose), showed up after we got an email "on their way" and no other contact!) from Peter Dickenson, who is the son of Larry Dickenson. Daniel came to the house, and said he was doing the work for Dickenson's and the price would be $4500!! He arrived with one other worker (one who was not particularly dressed for the job, and neither trained, nor a journeyman electrician--(stated by Daniel--"yes, we are trying to get him into some kind of a training program"--but obviously it was clear, as I spent much time with the project myself, that the fellow was basically a ladder-holder, a go-fer for Daniel). There were many jokes about his lack of electrical knowledge! I didn't get the company's name off the truck, so do not have it! Anyway, with the price now being a whole lot more than the original quote, we were very unhappy. After much discussion, then a third person showed up, in a truck like Daniel's. This fellow basically put the brackets onto the new pipe that held it to the side wall, and held the power line connection for re-connection. He actually left before all was finished. The three 'crew' had actually started some of the repair when we asked what was being charged, since we told them what the owner had quoted, ($2100). Daniel immediately stated that all three workers were going to be paid $125 an hour! That was what he expected or basically $4500 to do the job, that was already quoted "by the owner at $2000!" In the meantime, I called a couple of electrical companies, Westside Electric for one, and explained the issue. Their price $2000! I also tried 'several' times to call/text Peter Dickenson, who never once returned any of my calls! Daniel finally agreed to $3500, and at that point, I felt fairly sure that both he and Dickenson Electric (specifically, Peter), were simply scamming a homeowner, and using a weather-induced situation to do it! While the work on their part was completed, I would never use this company again! And hopefully, the work that Daniel and his crew from Scappoose completed, will be sufficient for a long time! I also noticed that there is a listing for 75' of 4/0 aluminum wire, which seems rather a lot, and saw some used, but that much was not replaced in the work.... Final thoughts.....never use either company again!!! read more

Peter Dickenson responded to my voicemail regarding a loss of power in one end of my home. It was after a long holiday weekend but he called me back in the evening. He fit me in at the end of the day following the holiday. They have a minimum charge for coming to your house, but the charge covers the service call and for repairs, I'm sure there must be a time limit but he managed to fix my problem and be on his way in about an hour. Another glowing review. I had a minor electrical issue in a rental unit that was too advanced to handle myself. After calling 1/2 a dozen electricians around town I got a series of responses including 'sent direct to voicemail', "I can come out in two weeks" and "It's $299 for me just to show up". No good. Nobody did so a week later I called again and was asked to text again, which I did. No response. Just for kicks, I texted one more time and four days later still no reply. Maybe my job is to small, but I live close to their office and I would think they could swing by sometime to finish off a day! I thought since I had some power but multiple circuits were out, it must be a fault in my house. He explained that it was more likely the power company's problem and suggested I called them.
