Last year this time we were dealing with the big freeze. We lost power for over a week and survived on a small Honda generator. We decided to get a whole house generator so we would never have to go through that again. We had several companies bid the work and all of them priced themselves out of getting the job. I understand supply and demand, however pricing double what it should be priced is absurd. I kept calling around and John from Pacific Northwest Electric was the answer. He disagrees with the big companies that overcharge for work. He quoted me for the install only. The catch...I had to order the generator and purchase the battery. Simple enough? I ordered a generator twice at Lowes to have it cancelled and then from Norwall Power Systems. It was delivered within 6 weeks. John supplied names for the plumbing companies and a landscaper to dig the trench for the gas line. All I had to do is make a few calls and coordinate the jobs to be completed before install day. All in all, we installed a 24K Generac Generator with two transfer switch panels for less than half of what the big electrically companies are charging now. Great working with a father and son team! When Pacific Northwest Electric came to investigate John noticed that they were all wired incorrectly and one of the wires was already burned. (Imagine my horror to think that my house could have burned down.) John corrected all of the light wiring for me and even went the extra mile to re-position them so they lined up better. I had to move an outlet for a new appliance. The appliance was due to be delivered and I wanted the outlet ready when it arrived. Northwest could get here first among the electricians I called, but it would still be after the delivery. However John said that he would put me down to call if they had a cancellation. Sure enough, an opportunity opened up and I got a call. Would today be okay? Would it ever! I expected a couple of hours to do the job, but John was a dynamo. Watching him was like watching one of those TV shows set in a hospital with him in the part of a surgeon. "Saw," he would say, and his assistant slapped the saw in his hand. "Screwdriver," and the screwdriver is slipped to him. "Plug," and he gets the p[lug. Thirty minutes later the outlet is in, the scrap is cleaned up, and I had power. He did all that while carrying on a conversation with me. And the price ... less than I had budgeted. On top of everything else they carried the old appliance out to my garage, after computing work time - so that was a gift to me. The only criticism I have is that a new design for the website should be considered, since it doesn't reflect the quality of the actual work. Not only is he a master electrician who charges a totally reasonable rate, but he is also honest and hard working. I've brought him out twice and each time he has moved expertly through lists that other companies estimated to complete for literally 4-5 times the amount of John's hourly rate. The work is done with the fluency of an expert who has 30+ years of experience behind him. He supervises every move of his apprentice who is a delight because that is how you teach someone to become masterful in their own right. In short, this company is one of those gems among the muck of dishonesty, incompetence, and frustration that every homeowner knows from bouts with bad contractors.
