Love this Dick's Sporting Goods store, and it's conveniently located right off of Lenox & Peachtree in Buckhead. It is in the same shopping plaza as Target & Publix, and there is plenty of free covered parking. If you play sports, watch sports, or enjoy any type of outdoor activity; this is the place for you to shop! It is a huge, multi-leveled store with lots of space to walk around and escalators or elevators to easily move from floor to floor. They have every kind of sports apparel and fan wear for men, women, and even kids. (I was also impressed that they had full-figure mannequins displaying sportswear all throughout the store.). In addition to sports clothing, they have every type of sports equipment, from golf clubs, and tennis racquets, to bicycles & kayaks. When it comes to general sporting goods stores in metro Atlanta, especially with the closure of Sports Authority in 2016, Dick's is probably going to be as good as it gets. At the time of writing this review, there are 10 locations in the Atlanta area, most of which are in the suburbs. This one is located in town, in Buckhead, at Lenox Marketplace, the same shopping center that houses a Publix and Target, across from Phipps Plaza. This shopping center has plenty of deck parking. This is the only Dick's that I can recall going to, so I can't compare it to other Dick's stores. The store is pretty big - three stories - and it's chock-full of stuff. I've come here several times over the past 15+ years, mainly to look at golf stuff. I remember, a long time ago, my dad had me go to this Dick's to purchase a specific golf club (a fairway wood or hybrid) that his local Dick's store in North Carolina did not have in stock. I was able to find that particular club model here. My most recent visits to this store were to look at golf shoes and golf shoe replacement spikes. Over the years, the selection of golf shoe models at Dick's has been decent, but not great. The size selection has been non-existent for me. I typically wear a size 7. Most, if not all, of the men's golf shoes carried by Dick's have started at size 8 or 8.5. Therefore, I've come to the store to browse styles and try shoes for a general feel, not to purchase. I had better luck with Sports Authority when it came to sizing. As for golf shoe spikes, I'm not sure if Dick's offers respiking services. However, PGA Tour Superstore does, so I got my latest set of spikes from PGA Tour Superstore and let them respike my shoes for me. Dick's does offer some golf shop services such as club fitting, regripping, and repair. They also have a hitting bay. If you're interested in golf only, PGA Tour Superstore is superior, but it's a longer drive to get to one because PGA Tour Superstore's locations in metro Atlanta are in the burbs (Kennesaw, Roswell, and Lawrenceville). One thing I appreciate about this Dick's store is all of the local team gear they carry. Falcons, Braves, Hawks, Atlanta United, Georgia, Georgia Tech, etc. They carry current jerseys/uniforms, brands, styles, and various team-branded, non-apparel merchandise. The manager here was so kind and helpful when I came to exchange a pair of Adidas sneakers from an online order. It was originally processed as a return because I knew they didn't have the size I wanted in stock, but the manager went out of his way to 1) order the size I needed to be sent directly to my house and 2) honor the price that I had paid for the original pair that were too big. Went in over the Christmas holidays. When Sports Authority closed it seemed as if they must have sold all my info to Dicks because I get at least two emails a day from them and I don't recall signing up for their email list. I was really impressed with the way they handled the Christmas crowds. Of course the lines were long, but overall they moved quickly and once I got to the registers, the employees were friendly and offering coupons and discount codes to almost everyone that could be used on that days purchase. I was so pleased with them that I actally ended up going in about 8am on Christmas Eve found what I wanted to purchase and wasn't in line two minutes before Id made it to the register. Since they are now primarily the main brick and mortar athletic store in the area, I hope they stay as pleasant and helpful as they were over the Christmas holidays The prices weren't very reduced, so I was thankful for the coupons, and I think yoi know going in that you aren't going to get Nike at 60% off or anything crazy like that, so sure you can probably find cheaper athletic gear somewhere else, but for one stop shopping, they have it very nice at Dicks. read more

Absolute worst buying experience I've ever had. Under no circumstances buy or use a gift card here. I had to change my order and they will "mail" you a new gift card. After numerous months and phone calls I still have not managed to be able to access the funds on this gift card. This Dick's Sporting Goods is located in the lavish Buckhead district of Atlanta and in the Lenox Marketplace shopping center. The center has a Target, a Publix, and is across the street from the Phipps Plaza mall. It's about a ten minute walk from the Lenox MARTA transit station. This locale is very clean on the inside and has three levels to it. I've only been here twice. The first time was to buy track shoes for a relative last year and the second time was this past Friday (3/1/2019) when I was shopping for myself. In contrast to some other reviews on this store, I found their customer service to be very helpful. Most of their employees appeared to be in their late teens/early twenties but they did all they could to assist me and had pleasant demeanor. They had a wide selection of the track shoes I was looking for as well as regular sneakers and hiking shoes. When I shopped for myself, I was looking for hoodies, Atlanta United scarves, and anything else of interest. The Atlanta United scarves cost $29.99, which was to be expected considering they won the soccer championship this past season. Dick's carries my two favorite brands of outdoor wear: The North Face and Columbia. They also had other well regarded outdoor brands like Marmot and Patagonia. The prices for their hoodies were marked down some since Georgia winters don't last long. I purchased a gray Carhartt hoodie for $34.97 that normally would've run about $50. Some of the cons of shopping here, at least during the time of my last visit, was that they'd already taken many of the sports team hoodies off the shelves. And nearly all of the sports team gear on display was of local teams like the Atlanta Falcons, Braves, Hawks, Georgia Tech, Atlanta United, and Georgia. I'm a devoted Georgia Bulldogs football fan but I don't want every single thing I wear to say Georgia. Back in the day, sporting goods stores would have a variety of teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers, Duke Blue Devils, etc., but I guess they don't carry many non-local teams anymore. Also, sometimes the women's section overlaps into the men's area. When it was time to checkout I had to stand in an average sized line but I didn't have to wait that long. I'm really rating this store a 3.5 but rounding it off to a four. It gets high marks for size, convenience and customer service (at least in my case). It would be nice if they kept their winter gear out longer though because most of us strategic shoppers know you can get the best prices on winter gear when you buy them out of or near the end of season. read more

She then started discussing with other customers how inappropriate our behavior was in front of us. We remained calm and just paid the difference due to her lack of explanation and walking off in the middle of the transaction. It truly is sad to see how poor management has become in retail. Understand that from the moment you enter Dick's Sporting Goods you will be surrounded by athletes. Athletes are by nature competitive people. This means you will become a participant in games with other shoppers you didn't realize you were playing. If you choose take the laminate pathway on your walk to the escalator, someone will cut through the clothing racks--knocking hangers askew--in a race to hop on before you. If you start browsing the circular rack of clothing at the 6 o'clock spot and move clockwise, someone will run over and jump in at 8 o'clock to swipe the running capris before you. If you can deal with that, then this is a great place to find shoes and running apparel. SHOES Shoe stores are a dime a dozen in Atlanta but many of them only cater to the wearer's sense of fashion. I needed a running shoe that would do more than look good. It had to be a performance shoe--something designed with a runner in mind. Dick's had a huge assortment of women's athletic shoes to choose from. It was almost an overwhelming number of shoes. Fortunately, it was pretty easy to narrow things down since the shoes were organized by a color coded system: Shoes on blue pedestals = Lightweight shoes For speed runners who don't want to feel like they're wearing shoes, these shoes are made from breathable fabrics and support feet without additional weight. Shoes on yellow pedestals = Neutral & Cushioning shoes For long-distance runners and for people with high arches and a running gait that causes their foot/feet to roll outward, these shoes have extra cushioning for running outdoors. Shoes on green pedestals = Stability shoes For people who do off-road trail running, these shoes have thicker soles that provide more stability over rough surfaces. A sign posted in the shoe section offered a gait analysis to help customers find the best shoe for their arch and foot strike. I already knew the type of shoe I needed and once I narrowed it down to two pairs, I asked Motley to pull the shoes in my size. I thought he needed to go back into the stockroom to get them because I hadn't noticed that all the sizes were in boxes on the sales floor. I could have just pulled them myself. D'oh! Instead of making me feel stupid or pointing "They're over there," he said, "That's ok. I'll be happy to get them for you." Then he suggested that I try on both shoes at the same time. After seeing my arch he predicted which one would work better and he was right. I really appreciated his courtesy and for helping me find a glycerin shoe that felt great! RUNNING APPAREL Dick's has a large selection of women's running clothes on the first floor and some of the items were really, really cute. But to me, the clothes were for athletic fashionistas (the ones who wear a full face of makeup, perfume and jewelry on the treadmill) who needed a color coordinated look. I just needed some good clothes to work up a sweat in, so I took the escalator up to the clearance section. They had workout clothes in gray, black and colors and everything was 50% off. It was the same merchandise that originally started on the first floor, just a bit older...good enough for me. I bought a few items and then walked across the parking lot to [red bullseye] to get the rest. (Yes, another good thing about this Dick's is its proximity to the big box store. It's a few yards away so you don't even have to move your car.) Competitive shoppers aside, I found exactly what I needed and had a really good experience at Dick's. read more

I know that customer service is not a priority here - there are the diamonds in the rough, but it is lacking overall - but I still really like this store. I find it hard to believe that other reviewers complain about the prices, but have you have ever been to Sports Authority? Phidippides? Or worse, REI? I find the prices are reasonable if you choose more generic brands like Champion over Reebok and they always seem to have a good clearance section. I am usually able to find everything I need and they have a huge selection. I did have a negative experience recently when I went to return some running shoes. I had purchased them a few days before and how do you test out running shoes without running in them? I didn't feel like they provided enough support, so I cleaned the soles and took them back and the staff complained that they were used and would not give me a refund. I argued that their policy said all I needed was the receipt, and that yes, the soles were a little bit worn, but at the same token, how was I supposed to know they wouldn't work unless I tried them first?? Anyway, after much arguing, I did not get a refund, but only a store credit. I do feel like I am settling by shopping here, but are there better options for athletes? read more

I am just thankful that this place is here since I couldnt find a Bass Pro Shop anywhere and was in dire need of some specific sporting items... Their prices are not cheap, but not too pricey also. I guess it can go either way, but on the particular items I bought that day, I had a bargain! I bought tubes and lifejackets all in super clearance prices since they were the last bits towards the end of the summer season. I stocked up on necessary provisions early this afternoon in preparation for the snow apocalypse: bananas; Frutto Bianco Pearls tea; and a two-eye propane camping stove, which I knew I could find at Dick's. An employee named Glenn confidently said I was overreacting and talked me out of spending $50 on the stove. So I bought a beautiful pair of Alo exercise pants instead. Here's my beef with Dick's: it's super expensive. But I've searched all over the city for more affordable fitness bottoms, and they either make my legs look like sagging elephant ears or bumpy tree trunks. So instead of stocking up on $15 Champion sweatpants at Target, I'd rather buy a much more well-made but pricier pair of flattering eco-friendly pants I'll actually wear. If there has ever been a place more appropriately named. then I've never heard of it. Oh yeah, there's Hooters, but that's a positive corelation between name and atmosphere. I'm talking about the negative conotations, which begs the question: "Is there a business named Assholes?" This place has the largest selection of sports equipment but the most apathetic workers. Upon entering one Sunday at a fairly reasonable hour(@8:00pm or maybe 9:00), I managed to ride the escalator up to the second level where I was greeted by a very rude employee's "Sir, WE ARE CLOSED." I felt like saying "Have you guys ever thought to lock the f-ing doors?" but I decided not to return the adverse mental feng shui. During actual operating hours, I can wander for hours with one of those giant cardboard lottery checks and a suit of black AMEX cards and still be treated like a leper with halitosis. Um, Disclaimer: I went straight to the bike department, so I have no idea about the rest of the store. My birthday is coming up on the 15th (shameless plug), and I decided to get myself a bicycle. It's a desire motivated out of a need to exercise - I sit at a computer all day - and a need to find an alternative mode of transportation. I've always liked riding bikes. So, after weeks of hemming and hawing, I decided to take the plunge. I've researched online and in-store, and I know that you want to get a good bike that will last a long time, but I just couldn't bring myself to drop $500 on a bike that I'm not sure I will ride, so I decided to go with a chain store. Matt, the technician/salesdude, was very helpful and I didn't feel like he was trying to give me a salespitch. I told him my budget and what I wanted. He respected that and showed me the cheap bikes, but a pretty blue bike caught my eye. I bought a Diamondback Wildwood Citi. It has 21 speeds and a comfort seat. For some reason it says Comfort Plush on the side which sounds like a mattress to me! I'm all fixed up with a helmet, lock, and 2-year service plan that I can use at any Dick's in the country. Maybe it was just Matt, cause he was super cool, but I enjoyed my experience. I only went there because I visited the website and they had good descriptions and decent prices listed, so I'm glad I wasn't disappointed. And I'm rather easily disillusioned. Boy, is my butt sore. I was on the hunt for a North Face Denali jacket. I called every Dicks Sporting Good store for 50 miles and everyone put me on hold for 10 seconds "to look," but came back and said "no, we're sold out." When I called this location, the clerk actually looked and I knew this not only because I was on hold for 5 minutes but she came back heavy breathing like she was running! Sure enough, they had every color and she even offered to hold my size for me. I bought all 3 colors and thanked her profusely for being professional and nice. I was in the market for a new softball mitt, as I headed toward that direction, I saw nary a sales person, and received no customer service. I was at the softball/baseball mitt wall for over 20 minutes trying on gloves, and no one even approached me offering there help; I'm sure I had a perplexed look on my face. Their saving grace?
